I went back inside to show the employee, and she simply said, "Trash." I assumed she meant I should discard it and that they would replace it, so I threw it away. However, she then reprimanded me for doing so and insisted the yogurt was still good. I explained that I would like a replacement, but she seemed confused by the request. When my fiancé came in to ask as well, she told us we would have to pay for a new one. This self serve yogurt shop will not dazzle you with it's selection by any means. I think I maybe counted 8 total flavors and the toppings were pretty limited in comparison as well. What Seaside Yogurt does have going for it though is it's identity. It's a mom and pop to the T. Pop was working the midday shift on a Tuesday in December so you know you're going to get an authentic look at a family owned business. Really sweet older gent who you could tell takes pride in the hard work he puts into this little place. Is it the best yogurt shop in the area? Probably not. For what it is Seaside Yogurt deserves 5stars. As a former storefront business owner, I understand space & cost issues. I was immediately surprised about the ginormous candy selection they have for toppings. These people are authentic Asian style with the setup, use of space, and how much candy is available for toppings! *love it* I read other reviews - I have to disagree with the selection of toppings. I've been doing this yogurt bar style of yogurt shops since they became a thing in 2010. They all have pretty much the same toppings unless you go to one in Japan or another Asian/P.I. (i.e. the Philippines) country. This place reminded going to a yogurt bar in Asia - minus the flavors you would find if you were in those countries. All the toppings you would find at any other self serve yogurt bar AND THEN SOME! I would definitely take a young kid here for a treat. They would have too much fun with all the different candy choices to make themselves a Willy Wonka yogurt Delight edible fantasy. I didn't mind how the toppings were put in bottles, it makes sense because of lack of space. I ended up unscrewing the top and dumping my toppings on. Everything looks clean. The self-serve area was clean. The topping bar was clean. There were only eight choices- which how many choices do you need when you have so many toppings? I absolutely LOVED that they had purple Taro!!!! THAT'S something different. Yummy good. Mixing that with honey, blueberries, and granola was fabulous! The service was friendly. The gentleman - apparently his name is Mister Lee - wanted to make sure I liked my choices and I understood where everything was. I appreciate the very small business feel. The quality of yogurt is pretty bad, and does not taste very good at all. Way worse than Yogurtland. Was hanging out in Delmar and was craving some frozen yogurt, found this place not too far from the main stretch of restaurants and shops. The store has a lot of photos of different people which was somewhat cool and retro. But the store was kind of dirty and very dated. There was only about eight different flavors, every single one of them was very liquidy and melting. We sampled a few of the flavors and they tasted very chalky, and full of artificial flavors, and over all just tasted like weird sugar chemicals. The toppings all look very stale and not fresh at all. There are three small parking spots right in front of the shop. No bathrooms. Several parking spaces dedicated to the store and downtown 2 hour free street parking along Camino del Mar. Tried 4 flavors: -Belgium Chocolate -Cookies n Cream -Peanut Butter -Dulce de Leche Very limited flavors (about 8) and toppings, but they still did have my kiwi, pineapple, Oreos (big pieces), fudge and caramel toppings. The froyo had a bit of a watery consistency to it, which I didn't care for. I didn't find the employee at the time very personable. However, after I conversed with him a bit, he warmed up. Small family owned self serve yogurt. We stopped in at about 7:30 on Mother's Day. We were immediately greeted with a friendly face and hello! The salted caramel was my favorite. Stopped by after dinner one night and had a wonderful experience. It was right at closing time, but the owner was so hospitable and welcoming and he was so happy to have us inside. There are a ton of flavors and there are a ton of toppings to choose from. The employees will put the toppings for you, but they are generous with there portions. I even wanted to make alternate layers of yogurt and toppings and it was no problem. The best part though was the price. As everyone else said, it's at least half the price of major chains. I filled an entire cup above the top with many heavy toppings and it was only about $4. Would definitely support this small business if you're in town. read more

It's not the cheapest self-serve frozen yogurt in the world, but it's one of the more unique places. It's kind of by itself on a stretch of restaurants and cafes, but it's cute nonetheless. There are some seats outside and a very small interior with just enough space for froyo dispensers (8, I believe). Then there are the toppings, which are good. The owner is really really nice. What's unique about this place are the multitude of photographs on the walls and ceilings. Makes it feel kind of cozy. The froyo is good, standard. So I'm a huuge froyo fan, right? and so I was so excited to try this place (and treat my mom) after scoring a $5 for $10 livingsocial deal. Man did I buy the wrong deal! I almost wanted to just throw away the deal and be out $5. Cons... My tart frozen yogurt was a little TOO tart if you know what I mean. Yuck...I only ate the gummy worms I topped it with. The fruit toppings did not look appetizing at all! Pretty sure they'd been sitting all day. There was nowhere to sit so plan on taking yours to go. Pros... My gummy worms were good - should have gotten more. The 4x6 photos covering the walls and ceiling of locals that drop in to purchase was super cute and gave the place a nice mom & pop friendly feel. The customer parking spot font was cute and the cashier was friendly. I like that this is a family owned business. The employees are really friendly and helpful. I have allergies to certain ingredients and the owner himself searched hi and low to make certain of that the offending culprits weren't in his product. The yogurt is good, but I really wish they had more sugar free flavors (and lower- calorie options, too) They don't have a lot of yogurt to choose from. But, on a positive note, at least they have a decent amount of toppings. It's great that they make their customers feel as important as a celebrity. There's a ton of smiling photos stacked all the way to the ceiling. (I'm guessing this owner is a SERIOUS scrapbooker.) Here's something cute---they let the kids design their own 'frequent yogurt' cards. I had to update my review and add a star. Every time my husband and I visit, the owner is so friendly. I have been to a lot of Fro Yo places in San Diego (Golden Spoon, Swirls, Berries N Beans, Yogurtland, Tutti Frutti, ...), and I have to say that the quality / taste of the frozen yogurt at Seaside seems to be the most consistently good no matter what flavor one tastes. I would give them 5 stars except for two things. 1. Their ambience is blah.....it cannot compare to Berries N Beans in Clairemont. 2. Their toppings, although not few, didn't seem to grab me at all. Neat spot in Del Mar. From the outside, this frozen yogurt didn't seem like much. On the inside, the walls were COVERED with pictures of VIP/regular customers. It was clean and they had several flavors and toppings available. Much like other modern frozen yogurt stores, you pay for your treat by weight, not by what you add to it. The man behind the counter (very friendly older guy, may have been the owner), told us that were had a 'game' that they played, that if you guessed the price of your yogurt, you got it for FREE! I swear, ever since the advent of Pinkberry and Yogurtland, random frozen yogurt places like this one have been sprouting like mad in Southern California. But anyway, I came here with my friend one late evening because I was having an emo moment and wanted someone to talk to; he lives in Oceanside, I live in San Diego. We figured that Del Mar was right in between and because I'm not a fan of drinking coffee in the evening, we opted to go here instead. The yogurt here tastes like yogurt I'd find anywhere else; because this place is tiny, the selection (both flavors and toppings) will obviously be limited. From what I remember last night, I believe there were about 10-12 flavors...when we went to pay, we found out that if you could predict the EXACT cost of your yogurt, you get it for free. Given that I'm terrible with estimating things like this, I didn't get the deal (I was too conservative with my quote, lol). I kinda wonder if anyone has been able to pull this... As someone mentioned before, there is no place to sit inside; you can sit outside, but there's only a couple tables and benches. Even then I figure that this place gets decent traffic because while my friend and I were there, we noticed at least 4 different parties go in right before they closed. And given that it's in Del Mar, I was happy that this place was open until 9:30 on a Sunday (which in my opinion is super late for Del Mar). All in all, it was a good experience.
