I swear, ever since the advent of Pinkberry and Yogurtland, random frozen yogurt places like this one have been sprouting like mad in Southern California. But anyway, I came here with my friend one late evening because I was having an emo moment and wanted someone to talk to; he lives in Oceanside, I live in San Diego. We figured that Del Mar was right in between and because I'm not a fan of drinking coffee in the evening, we opted to go here instead. The yogurt here tastes like yogurt I'd find anywhere else; because this place is tiny, the selection (both flavors and toppings) will obviously be limited. From what I remember last night, I believe there were about 10-12 flavors...when we went to pay, we found out that if you could predict the EXACT cost of your yogurt, you get it for free. Given that I'm terrible with estimating things like this, I didn't get the deal (I was too conservative with my quote, lol). I kinda wonder if anyone has been able to pull this... As someone mentioned before, there is no place to sit inside; you can sit outside, but there's only a couple tables and benches. Even then I figure that this place gets decent traffic because while my friend and I were there, we noticed at least 4 different parties go in right before they closed. And given that it's in Del Mar, I was happy that this place was open until 9:30 on a Sunday (which in my opinion is super late for Del Mar). All in all, it was a good experience. stopped in today on an unseasonably warm day. i was pleased to find they have both froyo and ice cream! because of covid, self service is a no go, but they have it set up so you order right inside the door and your food is made for you. you can choose up to 3 flavors and 3 toppings for froyo and the very kind man behind the counter filled the cups up nice and full. is it marginally more expensive than a national chain? yeah, of course, it's family owned. but your extra dollar and a half is going to the nice man behind the counter and not some corporate chain. shop local, for pete's sake!! read more

The owner really makes this place special. He is kind and remembers ALL of his customers. It's pretty amazing. Froyo selection is good and topping selection is good. You can also buy some assorted candies and then add them on to your froyo! I believe he also sells drinks and some jewelry... Because why not? I love to see this place succeed. Family owned. Great flavors. They keep it simple. I don't like that they hide the taster cups which makes them seem cheap. Plenty of toppings. I wonder, are we all paying per ounce for our cups too when we buy yogurt? Anyways, their salted caramel popcorn is yummy, alpine mint. This ain't no ordinary yogurt place which is good because I ain't no ordinary glutton. Hyperbole aside, there are no less than a million toppings ready and waiting to adorn my grotesquely large cup of yogurt and new flavors come into rotation every week which is good for those of us trying to forget our past. The owner is extremely friendly, accommodating, happy and he actually remembers your name which is more than you can say for any stoned tween working the register at a chain yogurt shop. He has also struck the perfect balance between tacky and awesome with crazy mood lighting strips and pictures of satisfied customers plastered to every surface. To top it off, you get to create your own discount card and if you guess the exact price of your yogurt, it's free. You can't beat that with a stick. Asian immigrants seem to love running small businesses in America that have low profit margins and long business hours: dry cleaners, nail salons, greasy spoon restaurants... and now, yogurt shops too. This Asian mom and pop yogurt shop is cute, but simply can't compete with the pricing, selection, and freshness of larger names such as Yogurt World, Yogurt Land, and the like. Their limited selection, complete lack of seating, and stale toppings kind of kills it for our hero. The 30 second interaction with the owner/cashier was pleasant though. PROS: - Chocolate coated pomegranate seeds available for toppings. - They seem to have a loyal customer following and they have a punch card for free yogurt. CONS: - You can't even sit inside to enjoy your yogurt. - Only 8 flavors available and most of the non-fruity flavors taste fairly similar. - On the higher end of yogurt prices at $0.38/oz. - The fruit selection looked really stale and the blueberries were so old that they looked like they were turning into raisins. While visiting Del Mar (09-05-2013) I simply could not take the heat anymore. I pulled my car to the side of the road and began searching the Yelp application on my Iphone for 'Frozen Yogurt.' The overwhelming response / resulted leaned in the favor 'Seaside Yogurt.' I checked out the Yelp profile for 'Seaside Yogurt' and noticed they had a Yelp deal where you can obtain $10 worth of credit for $5, which is a pretty amazing deal, can you beat 50% off? I walked in to 'Seaside Yogurt' and was handed sample cups for tasting the various flavors they had. I ended up going with old school and kept it real by simply sampling the 'non-fat' Vanilla & Chocolate which were pretty darn good. I ended up selecting a small cup and continued on with the initial vibe by once again selecting chocolate & vanilla. Once you have selected your yogurt of choice you have many options to choose from to top it off. I went crazy style & went M&M's with crushed up almonds. If yogurt is not your thing "seaside Yogurt' has still got you covered they have quite a selection of candy to choose from. This spot was like a candy store that also happens to be a yogurt shop. You are charged by the ounce for your yogurt and topping $0.38 cents an ounce to be exact. You have the option of sitting inside or outside, chairs provided at both spots, plenty of street parking available and free. read more

Though, everytime I go to one of these froyo places I have to get the euro tart. That's just the best flavor...EVER! Not very good. All of the toppings that I put on my yogurt were stale. The yogurt was watery instead of creamy. Huge disappointment!

So I'm no frozen yogurt connoisseur, my usual frozen indulgence is ice cream, but I find myself in frozen yogurt shops often as I spend a lot of time around fro yo addicts. The selection of available flavors is small but I thought the quality of the yogurt was good. Same goes for the toppings, not your all inclusive bar but the toppings offered were legit and delicious (frosted circus animal cookies, yes please!). The best part of this shop though is the friendly employees and the vibe. Photos of patrons adorn the wall and before you ring up your creation you get to play a "guess how much it's going to be" game for a chance to win your yogurt. I was off by a mere 7 cents but almost definitely doesn't count in self-serve frozen yogurt guessing. I would come back here just to refine my guessing skills. I don't know what Albert W. is talking about. I eat at Seaside Yogurt once a week and have met the owners. In this great land of opportunity, it is the mom and pop establishments that keep us afloat. Furthermore, I think he has his facts wrong. If his main problem are the blueberries, consider the season. They had to use frozen blueberries, because fresh is out of season. Considering even frozen blueberries are fairly hard to come by this time of year, I appreciate their going out of their way to acquire something like this, just to make their customers happy. As a produce buyer myself, the cost to buy those frozen blueberries outweighs the profits made on them, which makes them a "labor of love", so to speak. Also, the complete lack of information regarding the prices of other yogurt stores is appalling. A simple look online at other, chain yogurt shops reveals costs ranging between $0.50 and $0.65 per ounce, almost twice what Seaside Yogurt charges. Finally, his animus towards the owners borders on personal and slightly racist, and I find that reprehensible. I will continue to support this establishment as a paying customer, as often as I can, and I hope others will do the same. If seating is an issue, the easiest solution is to ask the clerk, as they have seating inside, as well as behind the building. read more

Definitely wouldn't be my first choice for self-serve yogurt. The yogurt itself was okay, I liked the pomegranate raspberry sorbet but the blueberry didn't taste much like blueberry (or anything, for that matter). The fruit I topped it with was pretty fresh, but the gummy bears - STALE. I could hardly chew them, even after I let them warm up and they tasted dry and flour-y. What a small quaint little place in between PK and Zels DM. Right after a fun quick bite at Zels, we went with the kids to Seaside. We were the only customers, it was quite, but the kids loved helping themselves to yogurt. We have been to Yummy Yogurt down the street in Solana Beach which was CRAZY PRICEY....But SS Yogurt was half the cost, and more yogurt than even Golden Spoon. Wow, how is this place in business!? The Acai bowl was mediocre at best but the customer service was the worst! We walked in and there appeared to be no one working there. It was early evening but the place was open. We waited 2 or 3 mins before anyone came out from the back. A woman finally came out from the back and we ordered an Acai bowl. She said $8. I asked if there was only one size and she said "cup, $8". We said OK and she just kept repeating "$8". Took me a few seconds to understand but apparently you have to pay up front before they make it. I've never heard of that before but I went along with it. Anyway, we got our acai bowl and went on our way. We had an appt next door at the spa. The yogurt shop shares a parking lot with Dexter's (a pet store), a realtor and Place360 (a spa). Its a tiny parking lot so we had to park right in front of the yogurt shop, got our acai bowl then went next door to wait for our appts. When we came back out after our appts. and went to get into our car, she was waiting for us at the door of the shop. It was dark out at that point and I was surprised they were still open. As we got into the car she proceeded to reprimand us for parking in front of the shop for so long. I had confirmed with the spa that it was OK to park there and they confirmed that it was a shared parking lot. Next morning, I go to get into my car and I have a huge scratch on my driver side door! Coincidence? I think not! The size and depth of this scratch was no accident. Of course there are no cameras so there is no proof and I'm sure she's well aware of that. My friends and I were so upset when nice cream, an ice cream store was closed way before their closing hours so we walked across the street to check out this fro-yo store. Right when we were walking up, the open sign had turned off and the door was closed but the manager saw how desperate we were for a refreshing dessert and generously served us. He is the sweetest man, he gave my friends and me recommendations for good flavors that went together and complimented our choices. He didn't try to upsell us and was patient through our ordering. The fro-yo was scrumptious and it made our night. I would chose seaside yogurt over nice cream any day...it was a huge hit. If you're in the Del Mar area, and looking to scratch that yogurt itch, Seaside will satisfy that need! Pro's: - The yogurt and flavors are quality (Cookies&Cream and Dulce De Leche are my favs; no notes on tarts, I don't like tarts). - There is a good selection of add-ins, and there's also some other types of treats available. Con's: - There aren't a ton of different types of flavors, though you'll likely find something you'll like. I don't know that they switch them out extremely often either. - It's a bit pricier than other yogurt stops, but that's Del Mar. - Parking can be pretty tight, depending on when you go. The most recent time I went in, the man at the counter was very friendly and asked if there were any types of add-ins that I like, that I wasn't seeing. Believe me. I know yogurt because I worked at a couple of frozen yogurt shops throughout high school and college. I've been looking for a great frozen yogurt place in the SD area and I've finally found it. I'm usually not a fan of self-serve yogurt places because their yogurt is way too dense and a small size ends up costing $8, but Seaside has the right yogurt/air ratio is MUCH cheaper than any other place I've found , self serve or not. Like another review said, I almost feel guilty. With the great price, you'd expect a low quality yogurt. Wrong! They have a great selection of flavors that change pretty frequently and a decent selection of toppings. It's a pretty small place with seating in front, perfect for warm and sunny day in Del Mar.
