This was our first stop for some seafood while in SoCal and it did not disappoint! I chose this place because of great Yelp reviews I had read. We got here around 11 but they didn't open until 11:30. We strolled around the nearby shops to kill some time then came back right at 11:30. Other people must've had the same idea because there was a line as soon as they opened! The operation here runs so smoothly. The front counter takes the orders quickly and you only have to wait 5-10 mins before your food is served. We sat outside on the patio to enjoy the warm weather. My husband got the spicy tuna poke bowl and I got the classic fish tacos with a side of garlic fries. We both loved our dishes! All the fish tasted incredibly fresh and lived up to our expectations. Fries were crispy with plenty of toppings. Prices were affordable yet the dishes still came with enough food that did not leave you hungry for more. My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday afternoon when craving a seafood burrito. We ordered the chimichurri shrimp burrito (which automatically comes with homemade tortilla chips and a small 2 ounce ramekin of green salsa) with an extra side of guacamole. It was decently priced at $13.99 for the burrito, but the extra guacamole on the side was very overpriced for 3.99 for a small 2 ounce portion. There is very limited indoor seating that contains just a bar top with about 5 stools. It has a nice coastal seafood vibe and the restaurant itself seemed clean! There's also fresh seafood on display near the cash register. We opted to sit outside since it was a beautiful day, but during times of inclement weather, sitting outside would likely be unpleasant and the barstools inside I'm sure would be difficult to grab. Fortunately the outside patio is covered so you could always bundle up and eat outside if the barstools inside are taken on those far-and-few-in-between rainy days. The service was okay, but as a restaurant that is walk up counter service, you can't expect highly rated service! I would return to try more menu options! read more

We went to San Clemente for a weekend trip. We were walking through the Sunday farmers' market and stumbled on Seasurf for lunch. Seasurf was easily our favorite meal that weekend. The seafood was so fresh, and everything was so delicious. Parking was easy, and service was just ok - but still made for a great meal. When you enter, there may be a line out the door (a line developed shortly after we got there), but it goes quickly and gives you time to figure out what you want to order. You order at the counter, and you can either sit at the bar or in the back outdoor patio area. They bring your food out to you when it's ready. We ordered poke nachos, half dozen oysters, and a fish plate for 2 of us. And we also enjoyed sampling their 3 hot sauces. Everything was so delicious and fresh - and reasonably priced. And bonus points for being dog friendly! Our pup got to enjoy the fish as well. Service was ok but as expected at a restaurant like this. Once they bring your food out to you, they generally leave you alone, and it might be difficult to flag someone down if you need something. Maybe it was because they were really busy for a weekend lunch or it was just a bad day, but a couple of the workers seemed a bit unhappy/annoyed. We are vacationing in San Clemente so we went with Seasurf because of the seafood variety and proximity to our stay. We ordered takeout only because we have a large party. They do have seating outside, but not really ideal for a party of 10 including young kids. So takeout it is. Our large order was timely and packaged neatly. The garlic shrimp was sizable, delightfully crunchy, sweet and crunchy paired with pickled cucumbers and onions. The accompanying Mac salad could be its own stand-alone side, but I suppose it makes more sense with the shrimp than without. The fisherman's catch with Louisiana Cajun seasoning had gone cold by the time we got to it, and it was plenty salty for our taste. But my husband was very pleased with the amount of lobster included in his lobster roll. The older kids enjoyed the tuna sushi roll and left off the crispy onions garnish. They also preferred the fried fish taco over the salmon taco and I agreed. Of the Fish N Chips: The chips were solid. The fish had potential, but the younger kids did not eat it, though there was nothing wrong with it besides being fish. (They also refuse tartar sauce. We are working on it.) Overall, I believe the food would be quite enjoyable and the experience elevated if you are able to partake immediately, preferably with a tall cold glass of beer still foaming from the tap and lots of time to enjoy your food and your company. Stopped by Seasurf Fish Co on the way home from a weekend in San Clemente State Park and figured on a Sunday at around 11:00, it wouldn't be too long of a wait. I'm glad we went when we did, because there's limited outdoor seating and even more limited indoor seating. You wait in line to place your order and then get a number and sit down. I got the fish tacos grilled and my husband got them fried and both were amazing. They were probably THE best fish tacos I've ever had. My son had the clam chowder and that was really good, too. We waited for 25 minutes and the line did not move. The line only continued to grow about 20+ people wrapping around the corner. What a failure by the business owner to only have one cashier and not offer any shade, apologies, (or potentially a free sample of POG etc) for their 20+ patrons waiting in a stationary line that is not going anywhere. Okay, normally I would give Seasurf a (4), the food options are great, a nice mix of cooked and raw seafood dishes with some well paired sides. Nice location with a decent amount of outdoor seating, and the staff are friendly. The reason for the (3) is because last time a group of four of us went there, 3/4 of us got pretty sick from the oysters. The 1/4 who didn't get sick, didn't eat the oysters. When we were talking about this with a different group of friends who also went to Seasurf that weekend, they mentioned that some of them got sick off the oysters as well. Called into Seasurf to let me know what happened, to which they were apologetic and said they would follow up with us, which never happened. We will eventually make another trip here, but need some time to recover. We think it was just a fluke, one-time thing. read more
