Great little place! I always go here for my Vietnamese cravings. They have pretty great tasting stuff that I never thought I'd find anywhere other than Vietnam! Hum bow dry and hard on the top, very stale. My pork sandwich was inedible the baguette was beyond stale and the pork was dry and hard. Bamboo was edible but the low temperature scared me, so it all went into the trash, what a waste and disappointment. read more

Here's a short review due to the one item order. Dropped in to grab a Vietnamese dessert with the wife. Always had great food at the 12th & Jackson location. Got home and turned out to be a $1.50 cup of "diarrhea waiting to happen". Down the drain it went. This place rocks, I love coming here for little snacks or food to make a meal out of, without feeling the wallet feeling too light. I must say their ca phe sua da (vietnamese iced coffee) one of the best I have had. For a buck seventy five, you can't beat it. Ok peeps, I know they're small, but it's not really meant to be taken like a shot. After all if you are getting one of their banh mi sandwiches and a coffee, you will need something to wash it down. Small deli, cash only. I only order coffee, a green "healthy" drink, and banh mi sandwiches. Though I prefer Yeh Yeh's banh mi, this deli's aren't bad at all (decent amount of meats and veggies in soft hoagie buns). The highlight is the coffee-- dark, rich, creamy, different from espresso drinks (the everyday Starbucks), tastes more "roasted". Other that that, there are hot buffet trays with different foods in each (chicken, noodles, etc), so you can pick out what you want to include in your takeout box. Yuk... Pork jerky essentially in the classic grilled pork bahn mi with multiple hairs long enough to last several bites, ew!! Maybe they gave me yesterdays grilled pork because I was there early (10:15 am), price is right though thus the 2... But I also saw extremely moldy breads on the opposite wall display... I love supporting authentic family type places but just because you're "authentic" (which I love) doesn't give an excuse for rotting food, hair, etc... Felt like a bahn mi, was going to go to Yeh Yeh's. Saw all the good reviews and the comments that this place had a better Bahn mi. Those reviewers must have ordered the crack cocaine bahn mi. It is cheap and worth the low price. Not even close to Yeh Yeh's!! The 75 cent egg rolls were great but the sandwich was fair at best. Bun was not the chewy-crisp and light baguette you expect. The pork was just awful, had a big wad of what felt like shredded wood. Didn't taste much better. In fairness, my wife's sandwich was sparred that particular culinary abnormality. I will acknowledge that Yeh Yeh's has been slipping in the quality of pork as well (getting very fatty) but still a significantly better sandwich. For those who think the dollar they save is worth it...put the dollar in the sandwich, it will taste better in there. read more

I love cheap food, especially cheap vietnamese deli food. The sandwiches are still stellar but I now question the spring rolls which have fallen ill to poor quality. The fake whatever peanut sauce is more watery then ever and the shredded lettuce in the rolls need to go! I know they have to make a profit but don't sell short vietnamese cuisine. Let's keep it authentic and not use lame iceberg lettuce! read more

Sandwiches are awesome....freshly made and CHEAP!!! I'm a fan of the Chicken sandwich, but everyone else in my family raves about the BBQ Pork. My mom is very "grissle sensitive" and rarely gets pork...but she loves it. Eggrolls are good. Occasionally I'll swing by to pick up their fresh made rolls for other food too. This is a great place. Got two Bahn Min sandwiches (one BBQ pork and one Chicken). They were only like 2 dollars apiece so I figured they were small so I got 2. Food is great but service is TERRIBLE. Very disappointing. The guy owner is pretty friendly but everyone else there is very rude and don't understand English. I asked a simple question which was how much is this food and she looked very annoyed. She said they're all different and turned around said something I didn't understand and said she can't help me right now and she will be back. Yes, go here! This is run by Vietnamese people who are super nice and have great food. It reminds me of the Vietnamese businesses back in Little Saigon in California. Some highlights and things to keep in mind: Food items can be as low as $2.75 and you can get a lot for your buck. Also, they only take cash, so make sure you have cash on hand because you don't want to be disappointed and can't make the purchase. Plan to take out because there are no tables or seats. Last of all, the shop is easy to miss so slow down when you get close because the store is in the back of the parking lot and the parking can be frustrating. Behind the glass, you can se they sell food items that families typically share at dinner with rice. Next to it are the desserts called "che." Most of them are pinto beans, flour filled with mung beans and sweetened with sugar cane or coconut milk. On the counter, you'll find the spring rolls that are NOT fried. They are filled with shrimp, tofu, chicken, or pork. Unfortunately, many of the items on the counter have some type of pork in it so if you can't eat pork, don't order from the items on the counter. This item is dipped either in fish sauce or peanut sauce. Also the other items on the counter are rolled rice flour known as "cuon" which are filled with again some form of protein and typically green onions and fried scallions. All of these items are typically eating with the fish sauce. In a plastic container, you'll see "buon" which is vermicelli noodles with vegetables and a type of meat. It's eaten with fish sauce if you want. I think it is $5 or less. This is a great dish that makes you feel healthy. Sometimes you will see a bread in a tin but surprised to see that the insides is green and sitcky looking. This is "Bahn bo" which is a sweet bread dessert made of rice flour, yeast, water, sugar, and coconut milk. The texture is different but I've grown up on it and love it. Other glass- You'll see a dish that is piled high with shrimp on top. That is probably the papaya salad. It is young papaya that is sliced up mixed with pickled carrots and dicons and eaten with the fish sauce. The last item I will talk about are the Vietnamese bahn mi sandwiches. They are only $2.75 each and are a full bagette filled with pickled carrots and daikons, cilantro, cucumber, jalepenos (very spicy), a mayonese type sauce, and your choice of meat (chicken, pork, beef, tofu). I absolutely love these sandwiches and for under $3, I will take it. If you're thirsty and not afraid to try something new, I suggest the green drink "rau ma" which is also known as pennywort or centella. It has unique taste that I can't even compare but it's basically the leaves and stems of centella, water, and sugar. It leaves you feeling healthy and is a great summer freshness to it. read more

SO cheap yet so good is all you need to say to sum up seattle deli. For a 2.50 sandwhich you get fresh veggies on bread plus meat. Like all the other reviews bbq chicken is the best. Not only that but if memory serves you can get 2 spring rolls for only 1.25 how better can a deal get. viet sandwhichs are a quick and healthy lunch and seattle deli is one of your places to go if your close by. I must say that the Seattle Deli was a major disappointment. The first problem was language...she didn't speak english and I don't speak Veitnamese.I really wanted to try a bahn mi with a slathering of liver pate. I've been to this location a couple of times and have always found it decent and conveniently located across from Ranch 99 , but definitely not worth going out of my way for. Most recently, I couldn't resist the shiny pate chaud in the glass case- I wish I did resist it though- it was dry, not flaky, and tasted old :( read more

Ordered the three ham and it is still delish. The carrots and cucumber evens out the sandwich with its moisture, for lack of better word. The pickles were not too powerful/strong, just enough. Great prices for what I would call Vietnamese fast food. The sandwiches are okay....however go on a day when the bread isn't fresh...BEWARE...makes it really hard to eat. Their 2 item combo is decent. You get 2 items with rice for about 5 bucks so makes for a good lunch or dinner. The food here is good and apparently the same owner as the Seattle Deli in Chinatown. I ordered a few items and they were all tasty but my stomach didn't agree with it. I'm really hoping that it was just an ingredient my stomach didn't agree with and not due to uncleanliness like some of the reviews I read. I did see the lady wear plastic gloves handle the cash and i HOPE she threw out those gloves for the next customer. Usually buy our banh mi sandwiches at lunch time, always good. Have recently bought sandwiches at dinner time, around 6:00pm and both times the BBQ pork was like jerky. Very dry and tough, so sad!
