This was a real nice place from what I remember. I took my boycott off whiskey for this trip and ended up not really knowing what was going on by the time I got here. A girl here tried telling me that Nashville was a more progressive city than Ann Arbor (Don't know why I was arguing) and I countered that there are a lot of potheads up there in Michigan and it is now legalized for medicinal use. She thought I was a loser but I don't really give a rat's ass. The band was good. The girls were pretty. I had a good time. read more

Not as well known as the Stage, in fact I had never heard of it when I walked by the first time. The nice thing about places that are not well known, or places like this that don't look very inviting from the outside, is that they tend to be less crowded inside. Second Fiddle isn't a lace you will take your friend to make them really impressed by Nashville, but they will likely look back and realize that was one of the more enjoyable places they went that night. read more

This was one of my first stops on my Broadway Fun Night. I never went "honky ton king" when I lived in Nashville but when you are away from it you appreciate it. Every night in Nashville is like a concert and every night it is like the best concert of your life. I have never been into Second Fiddle. I usually pop in to Tootsies or Legends, but I wanted to give this place a whirl. Like all the other spots, the music was awesome. I have to give huge props to the band because I felt like I was welcomed home last night. Having the first song be "Rocky Top" made me miss home so much. Drinks are reasonable. Mixed drinks run about $6.25 while beers are around $3 I think. The bartenders do a great job. The only thing I don't like about this place is its size. I feel like my bum was "accidentally" squeezed more than once because it was packed to the gills. But then again, I was in a honkey tonk in Nashville. Oh well! read more

I dig this place because unlike most music lovers, I tend to like to sit and be able to get a drink. Standing in a line to try and grab an overpriced beer is not my scene, nor is being pressed against the mass sea of standing humanity that I'm sure can't be fire-safe. This is my favorite honky tonk on Broadway. The band is great. They sing all the old favs, as well as the new hits. You'll hear everything from Cash to Shania, Willie to Sara Evans, Garth Brooks to Dierks Bentley, and even Elvis thrown in. Just great, fun music. I dare you to go and see if you can stay seated!! The place is really big, and usually not overcrowded. It's full of people and a fun time, but you won't be elbow to elbow and have people spilling drinks on you. See my review on the Stage. Anyway, the service is great and it's not overly expensive. Promise you'll be back for more. They have yummy bar food. I've always eaten there late night, so the food usually tastes good at that point. But, the burgers, chicken fingers, and fries hit the spot after a night of kicking up your heals. read more

Such a great experience to visit this bar. The band (on the night of 8/7/13) played classic country songs, and the singer was talented, yet funny enough to entertain the crowd. He came off the stage and walked around, partly to collect tips but also interact with the people in the bar. The bartenders were friendly, and prompt in serving drinks and snacks that we ordered. With numerous Honky Tonk bars on Broadway in Nashville, The Second Fiddle will surely be my first recommendation to anyone that is in town and wants to listen to authentic country music. What a great place and it's still has the old counrty music history. Good music, food, and service. Come on by see some up and coming singers and sing writers. You'll have a great time. Oh my gosh, this place is amazing and has some of the best bartenders. I would like to start off by saying, we asked for a mixed drink which required root beer. The bartender let us know they did not carry root beer, but instead of making us order another drink, she offered to go next door and BUY us some root beer! Um, coming from Chicago, this was a once in a lifetime thing and Second Fiddle will forever receive five stars. The band played excellent music - not one song we didn't know or want to learn because they were such great performers. The band was so engaging, and the people in the bar were just as much fun. I was alone on a business trip. The bouncer actually sold me on coming in! I still wasn't convinced until, while standing near a table, the bartender came out from behind the bar to take my order!!! Went back in October of 2020. The manager Desi was working and he was awesome. We were there for three nights and ended up there every night . The bouncer I believe his name was Michael , he worked Thursday and Friday .. he's the reason we came in. He sold us outside and we're so glad we chatted with him. This happened to my friends husband who happens to be a poplar country band drummer! On January 30, 2018 my hubby and I was at a charity event with our friends from out of town. I left the group to go home I had to get up early. My husband stayed with the group ( pic below ). @ 11:03pm, They went to the Second Fiddle on 420 Broadway all of our friends were allowed to enter but my husband wasn't. When my husband asked for a reason he was told they do not have to give him a reason after several times of wanting to know why with no answer my husband asked is it because of his race and again was told they don't have to give him a reason. Our friends asked and they were told the same thing. The manager came to the door and also told him he couldn't enter but our friends could. When my husband questioned he was told I don't owe you a reason and you can't enter (they all left) This was total RASICM!!!!!! So I'll start by saying this bar has traditionally been one of my favorite B'way hangouts. The live music is great, it's always packed on the weekends, and the drinks are quality (albeit a little on the pricey side). But there's something to be said for customer service, and that left much to be desired on my 2 most recent visits. Part of what people go to a bar like this for is the atmosphere - it's supposed to be uplifting, fun, and positive. And as patrons, you want to see staff who are smiling, upbeat, and actually enjoy being there. Unfortunately, the blonde female bartender who served us (think Christina Aguilera circa Genie in a Bottle) could not have looked or acted any more bored. She rolled her eyes, was surprisingly rude to customers, and made no attempt to hide the fact that she would have rather been anywhere else. Even though it was super busy and a lot of people were waiting to order their drinks, she kept going behind the bar to check her phone and text. Very unprofessional, but the manager didn't seem to notice or care. Being served by staff with such a sour attitude has really put a damper on the experience for me. This bar has to be by far my MOST favorite bar that I experienced while in Nashville for a 5 day girls trip. The managers, bartenders and especially the barbacks were nothing but nice. We were quite the rowdy group and probably a bit annoying if you ask me, but they always spoke to us with patience and respect. I do have to give a big praise on the bar backs Dustin and Dylan. They were constantly working, cleaning and still managed to keep a smile on their face, while having to deal with us talking to them NONSTOP. I mean when have you ever met a bar back that finds you food close by & gets it delivered for you? Chad and Haley were great bartenders, always quick with our drinks. We even came back for a 2nd day and noticed Chad wasn't feeling, but still busting his butt to keep customers happy. I had the pleasure of chatting with the managers Desi (Drake's Twin) and Brad (Jason Aldeans dad) who were also very visable at all times and didn't mind us being ourselves in the bar. At the end of the night we were gathering our things to find our Uber the manager, Brad helped us find the right Uber which was awesome. Highly recommend going here if you are looking for great staff and drinks. The music was great too, but once you have enough drinks in you, what music isn't Good? Was kicked out by some young bouncer at the bar around 10:30 before even being served with my 50 year old parents and friends because I have major acidic stomach problems and was gagging in the bathroom. After a completely reasonable explanation he told me to F off and get out of his bar immediately and that I was going to start causing issues if I were to stay. Tried to go to Tootsies but it was so busy I couldn't even get a drink so I ended up next door here at 2nd Fiddle. That was the best decision made. This place is great. Good music, good drinks and great bar staff (Jessica et al). I came in here on my own and was soon talking with a bunch of people. Everyone was super friendly and just made you feel welcome. It became my go to place on Broadway and is now easily my place to go and hang when in town. Thanks all for a great time! read more

A few blocks north of Broadway in Printer's Alley. Worth the walk but located next to a gentleman's club and a shady-looking karaoke bar. A Yuengling and a drink were $8.50 compared to $11.50-$12.00 on Broadway. If you're looking for a place to relax without being packed in like sardines while you listen to live music this is it. The bartenders were fast and the music was good, but that jackass of a security guard out front ruined our night. Me and my friend step out for a smoke and start to come back in. The security was supposed to stamp our hands as we came in, but didn't stamp my friends hand hard enough or something. He told my friend that he wouldn't let hit back in.
