I visited Second St. Marketplace at the Grand Sierra Resort on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, after attending a concert. We were looking forward to grabbing something good to eat late at night and decided to try the Philly cheesesteak. Unfortunately, it was a huge mistake. This was by far one of the most unpleasant sandwiches I've ever had. The meat didn't seem like real steak at all -- it appeared overly processed, almost as if it had been run through a blender. The texture was more like a sloppy Joe than a traditional Philly cheesesteak. I would honestly have preferred a sloppy Joe, and I don't even like sloppy Joes. Beyond the texture, the flavor was just as disappointing and left a bad taste in my mouth -- literally. After an otherwise enjoyable night at the resort, this meal really ended things on a low note. I hope management takes a look at the quality and preparation of this item, especially considering the expectations that come with dining at a major resort.

They were very busy, but the line moved pretty quickly, and I didn't have to wait long for my toasted bagel (she said it would be 10 minutes or less, and it was about 5 minutes). I got the maple donut, apple fritter, and blueberry muffin right away, though, before I finished checking out. It was also pretty reasonably priced, considering how expensive everything has been. They didn't have any vegan options, so I ate the bagel dry, which was fine. My husband loved the apple fritter (he snatched it up before I could take a picture).

A pretty nice place to grab a snack. The staff is pleasant, but unfortunately the pizza recipes desperately need reexamination or other such attention: overcooked, tougher than John Rambo, and lacking on cheese. The blueberry cheesecake bar is amazing. As per my policy, a star has been added for the managerial response.

THANK YOU, SAIF! Dropped by for a grab-and-go light breakfast and coffee at the Grand Sierra Resort & Hotel. They had a nice selection of donuts and desserts. While there weren't many hot coffee flavor options listed, Saif went above and beyond to accommodate me. He was very knowledgeable and first offered me the drinks from the fridge, then explained the available syrups he could use to customize a coffee for me. I decided to go with his recommendation instead of my usual Starbucks stop. Putting the extra effort to do this review because I was pleasantly surprised by the level of service, especially during the busy morning hustle & bustle. Saif wasn't trying to shoo me away and rushing me to place my order. I also noticed how well Saif managed and guided his team--they were professional, efficient, and provided great customer service. It's rare to experience that kind of attentiveness and teamwork in such a fast-paced setting. While writing this, I'm sitting at the table enjoying my morning snack and I continue to see them do a great job and making the extra effort to acknowledge their customers. No complaints here!

Second St. Marketplace is a small 24-hour cafe inside of Grand Sierra Resort that serves pastries, pizzas, & a massive array of canned & bottled drinks. Located near the elevators, the dessert display case beckoned for us to take a peek before turning in one night. Though we could tell the quality was not that of a local bakery that makes items fresh daily, we decided to grab something to bring back up to our room. (Decisions made after midnight tend not to be responsible nor logical. At least we knew to steer clear of the stale-looking pizza!) Both the mini White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake ($7) & Turtle Brownie ($5) were decent. I took one bite of each & threw in the towel. Small price to pay, calorically & financially, to confirm what we suspected -- that they tasted more commercially made than made in-house. You could find a better midnight snack elsewhere, although with my middling food experiences at GSR, I can't really point you to a specific place.

Oreo cheesecake was a nice little treat, but I can say that the strawberry cheesecake is much better than the Oreo, mainly because the crust on the Oreo cheesecake was very grainy in texture.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would! I will preface by saying that we are regulars at GSR. We stay here two times or more a month. This eatery has never been all that good..service is usually terrible and super slow and it's always dirty. The one thing that used to be decent was the pizza...I am that girl who gambles and drinks until 3am and then craves pizza. I always use my food comps there to get a slice to take up to the room. This night was exceptionally terrible. First off, I looked at the pizza case, and could tell that the pizza was overcooked and sitting there for many hours. So I asked when they were putting out a fresh pizza and was told that they had none in the oven and weren't making anymore. Oh well, I was hungry, it was late, so I decided against my better judgment to get a slice of cheese pizza. and guess what!!! As soon as I got my slice and started to walk away, they bring out a fresh pizza for the pizza case! The line was slow and lonnnnng, too long to go back to get a new slice. I should have known they were lying! I ended up taking a bite, and tossing the rest. Waste of $8 comps. Get it together, GSR!!!

It's funny, because we dine at Rim and Charlie Palmer's , but always go around the other way, so I never stopped here. Today, ( after having a satisfying happy hour).. I quickly stopped. Great place to pick up lunch or breakfast items to go. Now the desserts and pasties were impressive.. Customer in front, said she had the pumpkin cheesecake muffin was good. And she was also getting a coconut ring with chocolate. Glad they moved this away from Starbucks.. not too crowded either.

Chocolate mousse cake and a raspberry cheesecake

It was decent tasting desserts. Price was a bit wild about $20 for two pieces ( cheesecake and chocolate mousse) and it was really nothing out of this world. However, those are casino prices. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there were no wait lines. Service was good

    Loooks soo yummmy and tempting

I had the grinder sandwich and ate every single bite because it was so delicious. The crack and crumble of the bread was like a banh mi sandwich but filled with Italian ingredients. The only downside is their space is a bit tight for the amount of business they bring in and timing is essential to enjoy your experience here if you can grab a seat at the right time. We definitely added them back to our regular list of places to visit for our bakery needs on the mornings and weekend brunch.

Until this 4th of July weekend (250/2026) we had never heard of Archie's. It was recommended to us and we stopped in on Sunday the 5th for lunch on our way out of town. What an amazing choice. I ordered their bacon cheese burger. Guess what? It was GIANT. It was delicious. It was perfect. Comes with fries but I got onion rings. The onion rings were perfect too. Largest order of rings I have ever seen. The burger (1/2 Lb I think!!) had nice thick bacon in every bite, two large and fresh slices of tomato, a big old slab of an onion slice, mayo and lettuce. I can't remember if there were pickles. It was the best burger and onion rings I have eaten in at least ten years, maybe 20. We will be back, EVERY time we are in town from now on. I can't recommend this place enough. Special shout out to David, our server. This guy made no mistakes. Laughed at all my stupid dad jokes, was attentive, patient while my companions changed their minds 36 times, and was friendly too. Says it was only his 2nd day on the job, but I wish he had been working for us at our restaurant (Hokkaido Noodle House) in Sacramento. He is a pro already, give him reasons to keep working for you boss. Don't worry, we won't steal him from you, we are retired and closed our joint 10 years ago. Rock on Archie's! Was surprised it had a second floor with a small deck and pretty decent views! Big place. Great Happy Hour Deals (half off drinks) and other specials. I haven't eaten breakfast there but the burger I'd put in the top 4 in Reno. It is giant diameter wise but the meat is the same amount of a smaller thicker burger which makes it no too hard to eat. I'd call this a Purist's Burger. Crisp lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mustard, sauce. They went really light on the sauce to the point I didn't think it had any. Fries were excellent too. Price is very reasonable (that's typical near a college.) I've tried Royce, Juicy's, and The Parlor. I'd put Archies below Royce and Parlor but above Juicy's. Two left on my list are Armando & Son's Butcher Shop and of course Beefy's.

Our family of 8 arrived here to a line that only continued to build. The line exited the building and began to wrap alongside the building. Seating here is first come first serve and are only designated by staff. Saving tables and sitting down prior to placing an order is a big no-no. BUT!! That didn't stop others from doing this anyhow. Let me start off by saying how chaotic this place is. This began from the initial line up to order and continued throughout the meal. Staff seemed flustered, overwhelmed, and moody. I'm not sure if the vibe of our visit would be considered "normal" to the staff and regulars but from my perspective looking in, it just seemed uncomfortably unorganized. As a forewarning to those who have never visited this establishment before, do your research and try to decide on what you would like to order prior to reaching the register area. Being prepared assists in quicker lines and you avoid looks of annoyance overall. Our family ordered a bunch of stuff: *THE REGGIE- hold the cheese & gravy *BLUEBERRY CORNMEAL PANCAKE - single *CORNMEAL PANCAKE- single *BUILD YOUR OWN BISCUIT - bacon, sausage, egg *Side order of EGG *Side order of BACON x2 *CHICKEN FRIED STEAK PLATE w/ BISCUIT *HASH BROWN, 2EGGS, + BACON *THE MONEYBALL *BEIGNETS Food came out at all different times. It was just unfortunate how one child in particular's meal came out at the very end when everyone was pretty much done with eating. The female staffer who brought over the dishes dropped plates on the table before scurrying off. At first I thought it was just a random occurrence but when it consistently happened, there was no way to justify that kind of service. Food was doable. The whole hype over Pine State Biscuits was simply that- JUST HYPE. The dining experience overall and vibe of the eatery was just not my scene. Kudos to those who genuinely enjoy the establishment but I'm gonna have to pass. I wouldn't openly waste my time or calories here.

Good lord. I was one second away from walking out. She was a really piece of work. She then upped the "nice" factor to call me sweetie the rest of the meal which makes me want to crawl out of my skin. Honestly, I am very flexible, I think this place may be better than my first impression but this server needs to be retrained to LISTEN to the customer and answer questions and not just make it an effort to drive people out. This is a few minutes of her time, and I have to live my entire life like this without treatment until I die, so a little kindness and active listening is really a minimal effort for a few minutes every now and then. 3 stars is generous.
