We stopped by after a Costco run. Menu is pretty extensive, with half sushi, half Korean selections. I deliberated over sushi or Korean, but there didn't seem to be many photos of sushi or it didn't look that great, so we both ordered from the Korean menu. We had a hot bibimbap and yukgyejang, both were decent. Bibimbap came in a stone dish, with crispy rice at the bottom and a nice accoutrement of chopped veggies, but the protein did not have much flavor. Yukgyejang was a medium spicy, and a ton of bean sprouts. Not a lot of shredded beef, but I wasn't surprised about that. Plenty of parking in the lot and we were seated quickly during dinner. Secret Garden is not what it used to be. Growing up in Syracuse I'd frequent this place so much. Since moving back to Syracuse everything has changed. Tonight the kimchi tasted too sweet and was also very diluted. It was disappointing. I ordered my favorite dish of bibimbap in a hot stone bowl. I was disappointed that bulgogi is no longer mixed in--I received what looked like and tasted like unseasoned ground beef. They put a fully cooked egg on top--I'm used to almost all Korean restaurants where the yolk is still liquify and you mix it all up in the bowl while it "cooks". I poured a ton of sauce in my bowl but it still was very bland and the veggies were frail and overcooked. Im really disappointed at how this place has gone downhill. Bibimbap used to be my favorite here. The photos make the food look appetizing, but I wouldn't recommend. I'd say try Chorong house or gangnam kitchen down the road for Korean food!! read more

I was worried when I drove up and saw the rinky dink shack I automatically thought "I am not eating here, I don't care what Yelp says". Then a great thing happen I saw people coming out and they were smiling and laughing and def not dying from food poisoning, so I thought let's do it. Greatest decision in a while! Menu is extensive but take the time to read it you will find some gems. When you arrive the server will automatically bring you some kimchi and other pickled items so maybe skip the apps. I started with the eggrolls nothing exciting however, the Yook Gae Jang soup is the bees knees! This Korean style hot and sour soup is amazing from the spicy beef broth to the crunchy veggies and egg it will have you sweating but in the good way. After much research I decided on the Nock Jee Bokeum -octopus assorted veggies and a spicy sauce that is better than anything I've had in a while. It comes out on a sizzling skillet along with steam rice. These two things will more than make your food porn dream a reality. We like to come here as an alternative to Tokyo Seoul some times. Mondays and Wednesdays they offer 1/2 price sushi (certain rolls) and it's often crowded then. If you're not looking for sushi, I'd suggest dining a different day. We did happen to be there on a Wednesday for lunch and planned to get some lunch specials. My husband ordered the hwe dup bap, but was told they couldn't make it that day due to it being busy for the 1/2 price sushi day. Hwe Dup Bap is a Korean dish with rice, raw fish, lettuce, and other raw veggies. You mix it up with a spicy sauce. A bit disappointing since that's what he had planned to get here and it was a factor in choosing our lunch location. Service is good and food is consistently good. Things we typically order are: galbi (korean bbq), hwe dup bap, octopus stir fry, naeng myun (cold noodles in broth). My parents usually order the stews/soups. One of my favorite restaurants in CNY. Been coming here for years and have yet to be disappointed. Variety, price, portion size, service, authenticity, flavor, and ambiance. This place checks off all of the boxes. My go to dish is their bibimbop. Served in a hot stone bowl, the layers of flavors and the crispy rice on the bottom are amazing. This place is where we go when we come up to Syracuse. Seems this area is home to more ethnic restaurants (we go to this really good Szechuan Chinese restaurant across the street) in Syracuse. I really like their gam ja tang and their yuk kwe jung soups. Their banchan is very limited though. They don't do grill your own barbq (that's offered in the other Korean restaurant) but their meats do come out well, even though it's cooked in the kitchen. But the main star dish that tastes great is their beef fried rice. My young nieces just love it and is so tasty. Yum! The service when busy is almost nonexistent though and have to grabbed or go get waiters attention. When it's not busy, service is much better of course. I recommend this restaurant for Korean cuisine as well as their sushi (they have a sushi bar too)! read more

A Korean/Japanese restaurant conveniently located in a small plaza on the parkway, with a grocery store next door and a bakery in an adjacent building. Dining area is fairly clean and welcoming, and easily able to accommodate larger groups. After sitting down, it seems there is some room for improvement. Took a little more time for server to take orders, even after entire party arrived and seated. The banchan selection was somewhat limited and items like the kimchi tasted a bit old (more sour). Also prices for some of the entrees were on the higher end; ordered the seafood bi bim bap and didn't see the added value (other than the included miso soup). M youngest got sushi like she wanted, my older daughter got a noodle dish and my wife and I tried the Bibim bop hot version. All were excellent and quite filling. My wife really enjoyed the additional items like the pickled daikon radish that were offered. The kimchi was fresh and tasty as well. From the Sushi menu I've had: the salmon, white tuna, Florida roll, Syracuse Roll, Orangemen roll, Dragonchad roll, and Alaskan roll. All just completely gorgeous. I've also had the Shrimp Tempura udon. I added a raw egg to go on top. Hit the spot on a cold rainy day. On Mondays and Wednesdays sushi is half price. I used to go to this restaurant almost every week to get sushi before COVID. Recently i started coming back and i've been back for 5 times, none of those times the sushi chefs were wearing their masks-- which made me take out hot dishes instead of sushi. I had talked to the owner about not feeling safe with the chefs not having their masks on, but it wasn't corrected. I know it's hard to keep the masks on at all times. I love the food and services here, so I am still giving 4 stars. I went earlier this week for the discount sushi, and now I'm thinking about making this a regular stop! The restaurant has very little ambiance, but for me, that's not as important. I was craving sushi and wanted a good deal, which is what I got! My wife and I shared 5 rolls and a side of seaweed salad. We got a California roll, a Philly roll, a Dragon roll, the American Dream, and the Firecracker. To be honest, none of them were exceptional. The Dragon roll was the best in my opinion; I love the fresh crunch of the cucumber and the sticky sweet fishiness of the eel. But overall, the sushi was just OK. I've had much better, but I've also had much worse. The story here is really the price. Many rolls on the menu are under $2, and I don't think I saw any more than $5 or $6. The seaweed salad was also decent. It had the delicious sesame oil and sesame seed taste that you want with seaweed salad, but it didn't measure up to some others in the area; check out the version at Bleu Monkey. We walked out with full bellies and plenty of leftovers, and we weren't out $30. That's a deal in my book, so even if the sushi was just average, I'll be back on either a Monday or a Wednesday for the great prices. read more
