My partner and I have eaten here three times, and it has consistently been a delicious experience. The tofu fried rice is so comforting and has such depth of flavor. That three spice level is perfect for me and is consistent when we order. The garlic broccoli is cooked so well and it's in such a delicious sauce that I spoon over rice. My partner got the fried fish, and it came with such an interesting, and yes, delicious sauce. I'm sorry I can't think of any other adjectives besides "delicious" to describe this food. A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE EATING IN OR TAKING OUT. We've picked up from here and the waitress has been so accommodating while we wait one or two minutes for our order. It was easy finding a parking spot for 5 minutes as we got pick up. There is also covered outdoor seating here, though we haven't seen that in use. The dining room is spacious and there have always been a few tables full when we've stopped by. When we've eaten in ourselves, the service has been very kind and accommodating. Came here for lunch. Tried the green curry with chicken which was very good. Great curry flavor with chicken, eggplant and veggies. Also tried to Tom Yom Noodle soup. This was probably only 3.5/5 for me as was too sweet and lacked the yellowgrass of the best Tom Yong soups. Heard great things about the soft shell crab curry. Fabulous little place. The grilled eggplant appetizer caught my eye and it turned out to be very good. There was so much in the menu it was difficult to choose an entree. Wanted to try a new Thai place in Ballard so ordered from Secret Savory. They have an extensive menu with various styles of dishes. I picked savory crispy chicken and phad-see-ew. The restaurant looked super cute inside but I didn't stay long as I ordered takeout. The crispy chicken was super soggy when I got home due to the trapped moisture. I was a bit disappointment in the taste as it was filling with basil but I can't taste the herb at all. The dish was not bad but it tasted like orange chicken, which is not what I expected. The first time I ate here we picked it up to go and the Pad Thai was so good all my coworkers were asking where I got it when I heated it up for lunch the next day. *disclaimer: I'm not someone who can handle heat, I top out with jalapeños* so this was definitely on the spicier side, I usually opt for a 2/5 and that has some heat, a 3/5 would be too spicy for me personally. I've never been to Thailand, but this food tasted pretty authentic and fresh to me. I ordered a thai iced tea, lemongrass wings and tofu pad see ew. I know it's pretty basic but I wanted to play it safe since I am pregnant and my stomach can easily be triggered. The thai tea tasted like the others I've had, but something about it tasted more fresh? I don't know how to describe it but it was really good! The lemongrass wings were so delicious and you get a big portion of thick wings $9 compared to other asian restaurant offerings. They were perfectly crispy and came out piping hot! Delicious. The pad see ew and tofu were so good. You can tell this wasn't a reheated type of thing, it was very fresh and the portion was huge! Had to take leftovers home. The only thing I'll add is that their spicy levels are... on another level. I can get 3-4 stars almost at any other restaurant but I got a 3 here and it was kicking! I saw the tiny fresh chili peppers throughout the dish and they put quite a few of them, ooo! The dish was $13 which is a steal for this are. I think you can come here and get some delicious, reasonably priced food and leave content. Overall, the service was great as well. Brightly light restaurant, you wouldn't think it'd be a Thai place by the looks of it. You'd probably miss it if you were walking by because it's tucked away in Ballard. Welcome to the neighborhood, Secret Savory! I honestly was a little underwhelmed by their offerings. Some were great, and while they do have an extensive vegan/vegetarian menu, I felt like they weren't as good as the other vegan and vegetarian Thai places in the area. The menu was also very confusingly set up, only 1 server for the whole restaurant (she did an awesome job, but I just feel bad she had to run around so much), and no visible non-alcoholic drink menu. We were craving some Thai iced tea and saw no mention of it on the menu, but when we saw someone else order them we got super bummed! For food, we got: Traditional Northern Thai Sausage- bit of a weird presentation, but the taste of the sausage was good and flavorful, and oddly enough the lettuce on the plate added a nice crunch to the dish. Savory Crispy Chicken- this one was tasty, but reminded me of orange chicken a little...the broccoli was promising, but under seasoned. Phad See Ew- we got this one with beef. The noodles clumped together a little too much, a little over seasoned, but the beef was cooked well. The service overall was fast, taking into account the 1 woman show! I didn't find it to be anything special, and in fact seemed a bit over priced for generic Thai food that didn't seem to serve anything remarkably different than Thai food I can get elsewhere that might not be as trendy. It's not like I didn't like it, but I can't see myself going out of my way to go back, although I did notice a curry that we didn't get come out from the kitchen to a number of tables so maybe that's their main specialty and I just didnt try it? The upside: the staff were really attentive and very friendly. I also really like the open feeling of the small restaurant and the ambiance; it was bright, comfortable, and easy to have a private conversation at the table. We got the soft shell crab, Penang strip loin and Khao Soi, and everything tasted so authentic and extremely flavourful. Wow!!!! This place is definitely a new shining gem at Ballard. A go to place for all Thai food enthusiasts or anyone craving for taste and aroma of herbs and spices from South East Asian dishes. I just came across this place yesterday when I walked pass by. The sign said Thai restaurant and it looked quite modern with style. Since I tried all Thai restaurants in this neighborhood, I thought to myself to just give this new place a try and compare the others. Turned out, this place was far beyond what I expected on quality and quantity. The food taste was so good with generously big portion. I could tell the chef created almost every dishes from scratch. He put the magic to them and made the food taste really stand out from any other places I tried in the state. It was flavorful at the same level as the ones in Thailand. I tried "Meang Kham", "Deep fried soft shell crabs", "Jackfruit Salad", "Grilled eggplants", "Khao Soi", and "Pad See Ew". All the dishes were so good. Service was superb as well. Our server, Jasmine, was so friendly and knowledgeable in Thai cuisine. She always checked on me to make sure I enjoyed the food. I will definitely come back again and try other dishes. PS. They opened just less than a week. It might take time a bit to serve as the chef tried his best to create each dish from scratch. We had an awful experience on a Saturday afternoon. There were only 4 tables to be served, but only one waitress. It is very understandable that it would take a little longer than normal to order. The waitress proceeded to frantically clean tables while we, without success, tried to call her attention. I called her and told her we were ready to order. She nodded but didn't act about it. My date stood up and went to the front desk to ask if we could order, but still, nothing happened. I also watched in disbelief when she dropped multiple plates with food on a table where a couple was sitting with two children and, at any moment, apologized for it. We walked out without ordering and will never come back. I'm glad it didn't throw off our date since we found an amazing place to eat lunch right around the corner. read more

Modern-looking, clean, and bright restaurant with good food. Two dishes I tried were fantastic: the papaya salad and the shrimp paste eggplant. Both dishes were flavor-indoctrinated. The papaya salad is as good as it gets: it had a nice kick, tasted great, and was refreshing! The shrimp paste eggplant was truly well made and outstanding (this is coming from a Chinese person who knows the difference between a good or bad eggplant dish). My only complaint with the eggplant dish was that it was a little too salty. But the small cabbage soup and rice paired well to balance any salinity issues. The taste is great but likely wouldn't go again. Warning #1: The avocado corn salad contains exactly 2 pieces shrimp. The portion of every dish I tried is way too small for a $14-16 price tag.
