Save your money and go elsewhere. This place thrives off of nickel and diming their (no longer repeat) customers. Charging for a full month and over the phone stating they prorate you when you leave (a few days later) and then saying sorry, no refunds. The second issue is all of my stuff is riddled with spiders. My actual nightmare. NOT TO MENTION, SHORTLY AFTER MOVING IN, I NOTICED THERE WAS A HOMELESS WOMAN LIVING IN A UNIT. I wouldn't trust my stuff here ever again. I unexpectedly had to move and needed to store some items while figuring out my next steps. I got a quote from a few places on Yelp and this Security Public Storage hands down had the best price. I communicated with a woman names Cassie initially, who was incredibly helpful and accommodating when I needed to change the size of my unit to something smaller. They took my payment over the phone in order to secure the unit and I was able to move my items in the next day. I wish I remember the name of the man that helped me at the location yesterday, as he was also super helpful and friendly. He even let me take a look at the unit first to make sure it would work for me, which I appreciated. I filled out a few forms on my phone, got my gate code, and I was good to go. There was a little trouble with getting my code to work, but he resolved the issue quickly and I was able to use it with no problem by the time I was done moving my things in. The facility itself feels clean and secure and I'm glad this is the place I chose to store my things. If this location works for you and you need storage, I say go for it! Thank you! read more

I called and gave them more than 2 weeks notice of me moving out and asked the associate on the phone multiple times will I have to pay anything and he assured me several times I would not because it still falls within the time frame. I called back today just to ask if I can change my move out day for Sunday instead of Saturday, this other person that answer told me I have to pay a prorated amount because Im not leaving 2/27, which I never was I was supposed to leave 3/4, I explained to him that wasn't fair because that's not what I was told previously and I shouldn't be faulted because their employees informed me of the wrong information. So be careful obviously they don't care about customer service in this type of situation. read more

This is a great facility. Very secure gate requiring access code. It's in a safe neighborhood with quick access from San Pablo ave. We have had 2 units for a few years now and they are a reasonable price especially for this area. The management is on site, they are friendly and professional and keep the premises in top condition. Living in this area there is definitely a need for additional storage space and this place has been great for our needs. read more

I wish I could give a negative star rating. From the beginning, my storage unit had already had issues: the hallway light and the storage unit light weren't working. Every month since September 2020, I've requested to multiple individuals to fix the problem, but until now the problem is still the same. Employees have escalated this matter to the regional manager and even showed them which units needed fixing. But nothing was done to fix this. I had to move out and choose a different storage unit company because of the uncooperative management. Imagine paying someone to store your units with no light, but you're still paying a full price with false promises. Believe me or not, if you decide to go to this place, be my guest and waste your own money, time, and effort especially holding a flashlight while holding all of your stuff. read more

Sometimes the universe sends you a message, that if you just listen to it, saves you hassle later. It may be that Mr. R. and I were sent one of those messages in this instance. We rented a storage unit on a Sunday before a holiday. When we came back to put objects into the unit, our number did not open the gate. Because it was after hours, there was no one to assist us. We carried out boxes back to the house and were not able to rectify this until the next Friday, because we were down in the South Bay. When we talked with the manager, he noticed that the person who gave us the cards with the number on it had not programmed that number into the computer system. There was no real apology for any trouble we might have had. We asked for a credit of the days we were not able access our unit. The manager said he would give us credit for one day. At this point I asked him if he was able to give us more days and he said that he could, but it was our responsibility to contact the site on the first day (Tuesday) that was possible. Needless to say, we weren't feeling really cherished as a customer at this point, so I asked for the phone number of the parent company. The manager stated that he was not allowed to give us that number. At this point, we asked for and received the form to give seven days notice of leaving the site. We filled it out and asked, if since we had not ever accessed our unit, they would refund the difference of even the two weeks left after the seven days were left. The manager refused saying that we had rented at a month-to-month basis. At this point, we exited the site. About an hour later, the manager called Mr. R. on his cell phone and offered him a credit for five days. I am thinking that it is too little, too late. I am thinking that the universe showed us the true nature of how this storage facility is run and I am glad this we don't have our boxes in their site. It was an expensive lesson ($159), but it might have been cheaper in the long run. read more

Edit 9/12/2008: Sadly the old managers have moved on and the service level has plumetted. I've been owed a decent chunk of change for quite a while and getting someone to just call me back to discuss has been painful. Great facility but execution is not good. Security Public Storage in Richmond is the best experience I've had with storage. The managers are friendly, knowledgeable and take security at this facility very seriously. The facility is newer and clear, with individual alarms on each unit. With great customer service and the best prices I found in the SF/East Bay area, I highly recommend using SPS for your storage needs. read more

Used the facility for about 2 months. The place was clean and reasonably priced. We felt safe leaving our belongings there. Workers in the facility were all professional. We had free use of their handtruck as we loaded items from our pickup to the storage unit. They also offered free use of truck for moving in but we did not avail of that offer. Security Public Storage does provide this, and more. The facilities are some of the cleanest I have seen and the security is very good. The staff is friendly and helpful. They also have a good variety of unit sizes and shapes to meet your specific needs.
