Nice new bread store. They use whole grains (wheat, spelt, farro, kamut) milled themselves. Breads are stronger in taste, so be prepared to really taste the grains coming through every slice. I also tried the avo toast. The pomegranate seeds added a nice bite to the avocado and to the toast. Will definitely be back to try rest of the breakfast menu read more

I'm going to have to try it again. My first experience wasn't that great. I had a slice of quiche, but the broccolini was so fibrous, I couldn't swallow a bite. Also, there seemed to be an after taste to my coffee, not sure if it was the milk or something else, but I didn't finish that either, so it makes me feel like I wasted my money. Possibly the best bread outside of Europe! Please please please do yourself a favor and try the traditional black rye bread. It's breadgasmic! Every single thing they make is amazing! The croissants are just to die for. They make this gravalox sandwich that tastes like Scandinavia. And they make this short rib sandwich that's juicy and perfect. Best RYE BREAD IN USA. Hands down this Rye Bread is HEAVEN. Available at south Pasadena farmers market in Thursdays. They dont bake this bread daily, so call in advance. People on phone dont know when they are baking and you never know as they are not good at communicating ~ but still persistence pays off as their Rye is the best! Batards are good too! Thank goodness for wonderful bakeries such as Seed in Pasadena. Frankly, Seed gives me hope that Pasadena might be showing promise when it comes to establishing good culinary spots. I drive out of my way for the poached egg on toast accompanied by beautiful greens tossed in some kind of insanely good citrus dressing. Most everything I've had at Seed is totally and completely delicious not to mention wholesome. (My children, who love it just as much as I do, relish the peanut butter and honey on toast, as well as the avocado toast.) One area, however, that Seed needs to improve is the area of coffee. I find the coffee almost intolerable. I had an espresso there one morning that was cold and undrinkable. Seed could stand to hire a coffee consultant for both the beans and the brewing. read more

After craving an olive loaf, I decided to give seed bakery a shot. The olive loaf was delicious and has really good Kalimata olives literally inside the bread. They sell out pretty quick. I also had the ham and cheese crossiant which was more of a bread than a croissant. It was average. read more

I went to this little place around the corner from my home. I was amazed, and encouraged by the entire establishment from top to bottom. This is because I have lived in the area nearly my whole life and it seems odd considering the decline of the neighborhood for the last 25 years. The bread is superb and of the highest quality. I bought a multi-grained sour dough loaf, and did the purest test...no condiments and hard to admit, but better than my father's!!! I had breakfast my first time here, and fell in love with place. I had a chili relleno; it was not greasy, covered in masa, and was simply the best I have ever had. I recommend this business to everyone. We've been going for many times to Seeds Bakery for lunch and breakfast. The sandwiches are super good and creative, the desert are delicious and the service is awesome. Sometimes in five minutes our order was ready and sometimes we go there just to grab a loaf of olive bread or ciabatta. All his food are organic and healthy. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. A great place to go have a delicious bite and relax. We recommend everyone to try it. read more

I've been to this bakery 3x and love the healthy yet filling options. Their pulled pork sandwich and lentil kale bowl are delicious and my go-to dishes. They recently expanded so there are a few more available tables/chairs but it's still hard to find a seat during peak hours and on weekends. I'm a coffee drinker and like to use a straw. I really love the food, pastries, and bread here. Been coming here fairly often since they opened. Everything I've ordered has been great. If you get in early get a chocolate croissant. I'm not the biggest fan of croissants, but this place knows how to make 'em right. Seems like the biggest complaints on yelp is the service and ordering, which can quickly get disorganized if they get slammed. This is something I can attest to, but I can look past it when I'm getting high quality food. They are still new and trying to work out the kinks. Place is really good for a light brunch! Arguably one of the best avocado toasts I've ever had. The chocolate croissant was absolutely delicious-- especially warmed up! OJ is definitely fresh squeezed. All the food was definitely enjoyable. I'm glad we discovered this place. Con: bizarre, borderline rude service by the woman helping us... she backed into her coworker who spilled milk all over and instead of helping her, she said "umm I didn't hear a 'behind' warning" in a condescending tone. Then, my husband was looking to see if our croissant was ready and she basically kind of scolded him for looking at her and went on this tangent about how she knows what he's going to ask for and it's coming. We would order them again but there are so many more items on the menu that we'd like to try too. So we will go back. They were also sold out of almost all bread by midday on a weekday, which also seems to happen when I see them at the farmer's market. Would love to see them Increase bread production. If I were to describe this in one sentence I would say: Seed Bakery has amazing food and beverages, but they're still trying to figure out the other side of this business. The food and drink here are so amazingly satisfying, from the breakfast pastries to the sandwiches and the loaves of crusty bread to the tart lemonades and coffees this place definitely does not let you down. But the flip side to this coin is a business that has grown faster than the owners were ready. I've seen it before in the restaurant industry and it usually isn't a problem. Let me start off by saying that I love and support independent places like this. I love the movement towards good quality foods in my locale. So I was quite excited to see Seed open up and was excited to try it. My hubby and I came and dined in. He had gotten the short rib sandwich, & I got the mozzarella one. Both were just ok - nothing to write home about. Then the moment. The waitress had asked us if we would be willing to trade tables with another pair of people who were expecting to be joined by two more people. I just stared at her for a moment, kind of in disbelief of what just happened. I just said, 'sure.' And I thought at first that the staff would do something nice, like offer to transfer our plates to the other location, or heck, throw in a freebie for the inconvenience, but no. WE would have to pick up our junk and take it over ourselves as if we sat in the wrong seats at the theatre. First of all, I looked everywhere for a table that would accommodate just two people, but not one was to be found. We got a table that did accommodate 4, and it was kinda dirty. I sucked it up. Then we were asked to move? That same duo was sitting there as we were looking for seats. Are these last minute add-ons to their party? Less than a minute passed, and then I just got irritated. I got up to get to-go boxes and passed the two 'kids' who were too cowardly to approach us themselves. They didn't even look up to say, "thank you." My husband and I are at least twice their age. We may not be old, but we have reached a point where we should merit a little respect among 'millennials.' We got our boxes and just left. The waitress tried to make up for it by telling us we don't have to move if we didn't want to, but common sense should dictate what is appropriate protocol. I won't be back. The $23 we spent on two mediocre sandwiches wasn't worth our time or dollars. read more

Very happy to have Seed Bakery close by. I want to try everything on their menu! Their loaves are divine and I'm so glad they sell Kamut loaves!
