When I called for appt ... I specifically asked for "color specialist" ... I was told Id have appt…read morewith a very experienced stylist. I asked if it was a senior stylist and was told no... but the junior stylist was VERY good with color. I expressed how important that I have someone good. I was assured they were. I came for appt - and stylist was sweet, I talked with her about wanting cool highlights so theyd blend with the gray l had coming in on the crown. I also showed her photos/examples of the cool blonde highlights I wanted - and told her since I pull hair back 99% of the time that the front needed to have more highlights around face/like face framing. And it was just a partial highlight mainly on crown of head. She then had me show her photos again. I felt like communication was clear and she understood. She put me in foils and told me shed be back in 45 minutes. I then tried to listen to a documentary on my phone but there was no wifi. It literally said "no connection" under the CarmenCarmen guest link. I then asked receptionist If I could use the employee one which required a passcode to which she said she didnt know what the passcode was. Then there was another CarmenCarmen wifi link (again needed passcode) - and she said she didnt know that one either. So I sit there just staring at a mirror for 45 min. Not even offered a magazine! I did try the wifi couple more times. I thought it was working but it was still "not connected"... I just gave up. Anyway, I was eventually rinsed out and a toner had to be applied. Which told me its likely hair didnt lift enough. I was still hopeful though. When she removed towel at chair I could clearly see there was no lightness in the front. It looked the same wet - as it did at home - before appt. I waited until it was blown out to see if maybe it was "ok". But the highlights werent even a cool tone. They are golden/ brassy. She asked if I liked it - and I asked if she thought it had a brassy tone to it?!? She said "well do you have any purple shampoo at home"?? I said I did have some purple conditioner - its like a hair mask kind. I didnt want to hurt her feelings so I said "well it looks better than when I came in" bc she "did" cover my gray with brown and that was ok - but in my mind Im thinking its deff not what I was expecting/wanted. The highlights are not fluid, they are chunky and large gaps here and there with zero highlights at all. Some start an inch from my scalp. Some highlights are golden/orange color, some are darker. They are not even the same color but more of a mix of colors. Its seriously the worst hair appt Ive ever had. And instead of leaving feeling good, I was so upset afterwards. I then go to pay and It was $235. I would have GLADLY paid $500 to get a senior stylist who had more experience. I still left a $40 tip bc she was at least a sweet girl - and its close to the holidays. So for $275 I got very brassy uneven BADLY placed highlights and a root wash. Oh and did I mention there was a ball of hair like a rats nest that I had to keep stepping around to get in/out of chair?!? Yea there was that too lol. NOT at all the level of service I had in the late 90's when Carmen did my hair. I live an hour and half away - depending on traffic - so definitely not worth the drive nor the money. HARD PASS on this salon!! Update: I called and they did offer to fix the highlights but Id have to come back to the same location - which I declined. I said Id go to North Lake location which is closer - but that wasnt an option.

It's not uncommon for my hair to be fresh out of the shower, drying in an awkward, wet messy bun, in public. I went to Platinum for the first time a few weeks ago, as my stylist (from my other reviews!) has recently joined their staff. Samantha is wonderful, you read about her in my previous hair review. She listens to you, and will do exactly as you want - with insight and recommendations if you want them. Because I am a very low maintenance hair doer, but very frequent visitor to Pinterest, I wanted those chunky big highlights. I told Samantha what I wanted, and that I had been on Pinterest, and we talked about what would really work for me and my lifestyle. Turns out, chunky pretty highlights take lots of upkeep and work - more than 2 hair visits a year (imagine that!). So we went with lower tones and less upkeep. The girl knows me better than I know myself! Love the cut, I go in to see her about twice a year - not the recommended every six weeks. But I tell Samantha what I'm thinking, we talk about it and then I'm always happy with the result!! The shop is really pretty. The staff is nice, and it smells good in there! Never go to a hair salon that doesn't smell good. I will definitely be coming back here to talk about my hair with Samantha. She was also helpful in talking me through a few hair styles that I could do quickly, but that look more grown-up than just a hair elastic and a pony tail. Schedule an appointment! Ask for my girl!

$398 for highlights and root smudge??…read more Very disappointed in the amount I was charged today for highlights and root smudge and feel it was quite exorbitant for this area and what I received was not at all at any level to justify. My appointment was for full highlights and root smudge. I consider this salon nice but not high end and though the person who did my service is very sweet and did a great job the previous time I visited, they are more junior level. When I asked for the breakdown of my charges, they had a hard time providing them but said I was charged for a haircut, highlights, toner and root color. I did not get a haircut so I said oh, I didn't get a haircut so you need to take that off so they said they would refund $30 which is odd because a haircut is $60. After asked for a call from the manager who wasn't available while I was there, I found that they charged foil highlights ($265), a toner ($45) and $76 for a little root cover at the bowl. I have barely shoulder length hair. The manager wasn't clear on what was charged either so she was going to give me a call back but never did. My total bill with the refund was $365. What's worse is that I have to have it redone. The highlights were not allowed to lift enough and the toner was nothing like what i like or looks good on me. The roots are not dark enough and turned out looking like 'hot roots', nothing like the root smudge I had previously. I hate this happened. This is simply unaffordable even if it were a great color but it was nothing like what I had done before, which I what i asked for when I sat down. Also, I would have probably split up the service or possibly changed to partial highlight had I known the toner wasn't included with the highlight service. After all, you generally don't have one without the other. And, I would've decided to go elsewhere altogether if I had known they charge $76 for root coverage at the bowl with your highlight.

It's right next to a café and surrounded by restaurants and local shops. I'm already excited to explore the area more when I visit next. The salon itself was welcoming and spacious, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Today, Grace gave me the works--full highlights and a haircut! I left feeling so cute, lighter, and like I'd turned back the clock ten years. Grace is such a genuine, kind, and down-to-earth person. She really listens and knows exactly what my hair needs. Plus, she cares deeply about me and my family. As a 55-year-old with fine, thinning hair, I'm very picky about hairstylists.
