See's opened a new store in Kirkland!!! It is the third week of their soft opening. Full confession that I am sentimental for See's. I grew up with this company. My middle school and high school years were filled with fundraisers using See's candy sticks and an occasional splurge for the gold-wrap lollipops. I bought them by the boxes for school. To this day, I can't walk by a See's without walking in, which is dangerous. Neither their Bellevue nor their Lynnwood store is at a "walk-by" location for me, and their downtown Seattle store has since closed due to pandemic and crime. My jaw literally dropped when I was doing errands in Kirkland Totem Lake Village and saw the store. To be honest, I thought, "I'm so screwed." LOL!! The location at Totem Lake Village (east of 405) is near Ross, next to the pet store. The interior is wonderfully sunny with vintage photos on the wall. The colors are adorable right now due to Easter packaging and St. Patrick's Day specials, too. The two ladies working there today were just the sweetest, greeting customers with cheerful salutations, and as always, offering a sample. Their candies are sold individually by ordering at the case (sold by weight), or you can choose packages. I have a standard order of a dark chocolate scotchmallow (dark chocolate covering marshmallow and butter caramel) and a Nut & Chew bar. Today, my eyes caught sight of a box of Dark Mint Scotchmallow - peppermint marshmallow & chocolate butter caramel covered in rich dark chocolate - a St. Patrick's Day special. There were only three boxes left. I caved and bought one of the three. Ful disclosure that I find many of the candies to be quite sweet. I stick with a select few covered in dark chocolate. The ones I like are very, very good.

Free samples and the service is top shelf. I ended up buying several different types of chocolate candy. Very reasonable prices.

Everything looked beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. I tried the toffee, salted caramel, honey lavender, oatmeal snickerdoodle, and strawberry rhubarb macarons. The honey lavender was light and floral without being overpowering, and the strawberry rhubarb had the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The salted caramel and toffee flavors were rich and indulgent, and the oatmeal snickerdoodle tasted warm and cozy with a cinnamon sugar flavor that stood out from the others. The macarons were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly textured. Definitely one of the best macaron spots locally!

One of my absolute favorites is Ding Dong (a chocolate-forward flavor that's rich and nostalgic, like an elevated version of a childhood treat). I also love the chocolate mint for something refreshing, and the oatmeal flavor has this cozy, comforting vibe that pairs perfectly with tea or coffee. They consistently nail the texture: lightly crisp on the outside with a soft, chewy center. I also really appreciate that there's indoor seating. The last time I went, my parents were visiting, and we sat inside sipping tea and chatting. It felt warm, cozy, and just really sweet. It's not just a grab-and-go dessert spot, it's somewhere you can linger. And every time I've gone, the women working there have been genuinely friendly and welcoming. That consistency makes such a difference. Such a cute little gem in Totem Lake. Perfect for gifting or a small afternoon treat!

The pricing of the candy isn't too bad. We had their truffles and raisins. I really enjoyed the sugar free chocolate raisins. I'd definitely get it again. The truffles were good. Oops, sorry, but they are kinda spendy. To be fair, their pay-by-weight candies are the exact same cost as Lolli & Pops and Candy Street in Lynnwood, which is about $5 per quarter pound. The weight adds up quickly. If any kid touches the candies, they pretty much will need to throw away the entire lot. It is an expensive business to run. I observed a child dropped a piece of jawbreaker. The lady immediately approached the parent asking to take the dropped piece. No yelling, no anger, just the right way to run a sanitary business. They have a huge assortment of chocolates, candies, cotton candies, and some beverages, too. Being Easter, they had cute sweets that are unique. I wonder if they will have after Easter sale. Hehe. Amongst their regular offerings, I found one of my favorites - dark chocolate malt balls. Theirs is a bit smaller than the double chocolate ones I usually buy, but cocoa is very expensive now. Happy to find something.
