I'm going to rate this really high because I often moved unless something spectacular. In this case, I was moved. The food was amazingly! I had the Chris roll with truffle oil, wtf! It's really good. I love most things truffle. There's a fine line with too much sauce though, so don't over sauce it. However, those flavors with the roll just worked for me. I didn't like the way the tables were set up though because I felt my back was turned to the whole place while I was positioned in the corner but service was pleasant. They do have beer and wine with a lot of nice sake choices that were tasty and not like rubbing alcohol. The protein roll was also amazing. The fish tasted fresh and buttery. We had takeout from here some years ago but I didn't review or remember having any standout impression of this place. We decided to give it another try since we always go to Narumi AND we found out there is an R&B tea next door which is affiliated. I was sold as soon as I found out and I don't know how it took so long for me to find out they opened the R&B... We got the flaming sake, marry me, and yuzu yellowtail rolls, seared salmon nigiri, eel nigiri and albacore nigiri as well as a salmon bowl and miso soup for the kiddo. The salmon in the salmon bowl was a generous portion and cooked very nicely. It was flakey and moist and the sauce was delectable! Our kid enjoyed it and I was eating her leftovers. My favorite roll was the yuzu yellowtail but I also really liked the flaming sake. The marry me was good but nothing amazing. I felt like their krab was superior to most places in texture and taste. It seemed closer to real crab and made the rolls that much more enjoyable. The quality of everything seemed good and the prices were reasonable. Located in the plaza on Navajo Rd is this little gem. Walked in and the interior decor was very clean and modern. My group were greeted right away and sat down immediately upon walking in. Service was on point and our drinks were constantly filled. Food was brought out fairly quickly after ordering. Their sushi menu has numerous options to choose from which is a plus. They have just about every combination of sushi roll you could think of so whether you want, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, crab, scallop, lobster and so on, you'll find what you're looking for here. Presentation of the rolls was great. Very clean and professional looking. The rolls were very delicious! I had the Rich Chris roll and salmon belly nigiri. Would get both again in a heart beat. The sushi tasted very fresh which is a plus when you go to a sushi restaurant. Prices are right where they should be for the rolls as they average in thr $12 - $15 range. This was my first time trying this sushi place as I'm exploring sushi options near my apartment. Placing the order by phone was simple & the lady was fairly nice & answered the questions I had regarding vegetarian rolls. They have signs outside & all around the restaurant regarding social distancing guidelines; and the restaurant looked pretty clean. I ordered the veggie roll & the veggie tempura roll (both reasonably priced). I also ordered extra ginger & was a bit bummed to find out that they charge for extra. Not knowing how large the sides were i asked for 2 extra sides. NOTE: the sides of ginger are huge! ;)) The vegetable roll was extremely underwhelming. It consisted of a seaweed salad & spinach & was not very tasty (even with the extra ginger & soy sauce). The tempura veggie roll was really delicious & came w a drizzled sauce on top that i did not expect but absolutely enjoyed. Great spot and local. Yes most sushi spots are not giant chains but it's still great. It's located next to the gym which is also cool. Inside is cozy and welcoming. Staff is friendly and happy to help and serve food. Sushi rolls are decent and their sashimi is cut very nicely. It's priced perfectly for the slices of sashimi and they aren't stingy as some other sushi joints. But. It taste the same or better and more filling. On top of this. Love this place! Been here multiple times and my fam is always satisfied. The rosemary truffle fries and shishito peppers are a must. Especially those shishitos, that sauce on there is bomb. I really don't like leaving unfavorable reviews, but let's be truthful, Sei Sushi is definitely not what it used to be. My husband and I decided to come back here after visiting a handful of times in years past. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. But let's start with the good: The spicy garlic edamame is pretty darn good. The California rolls are decent. Now the bad: -They are going paperless, but if you can't read the menu going back and forth between pages on your phone for their pick 3 special you will be scorned by your waitress for asking for a menu. Not a good start when the waitress clearly has attitude. -they do not make the sushi at a typical sushi bar, but back in a kitchen and pushed out through a serving hole. For sushi, this is just odd for me. -everything is disposable which leads to tremendous waste in the environment -if everything is disposable for viral concerns, then there would not be open chopsticks sitting in containers on each table collecting viral particles - the Navajo crunch roll was disappointing with the crunch part tasting stale -my husband got an albacore roll which was equally disappointing The whole meal experience was largely underwhelming. -not representative of our $40 check Oh and one of the reasons that I like sushi is that it is always beautiful to look at. Not here. There is no emphasis on presentation. I wish they would find a way to step up their game, as I hope for every restaurant to be able to survive these brutal times. I'm giving it a two because I have been coming here since 2015 and the service and quality of food has historically been excellent. We decided to come here today for lunch and everything looked as usual; the ambiance was great. The server, gave us one menu and when we asked for 2, she said that it's customary to do 1 menu per 2 people, and threw the second menu at me. I asked her if the owner was around, and she stated that he no longer comes around. I asked for the other lady, who has been working there for many years and who appears to be at the very least, a manager, and the server stiffened up. She shared that she works most day but at different times. When she realized that I knew the owner and that I was expecting to come back to talk to the other lady, she tried to correct her behavior. By then, she had already thrown the water glasses and menu at us so there wasn't any coming back from it. Now, the food. We decided not to leave because the food is usually good. No ladies and gents. The food was bad. The lemons from the lemon cilantro roll were bad. The fish wasn't fresh and had an odd flavor. The only one that was good was the Grossmont roll, but I suspect that it's because it was fried so it masked the flavor. The miso soup was water with chunks of tofu. God awful. To be fair, and the only saving grace, is that out of literal hundreds of times I have been here, this is my only bad experience with the food. But the bad food combined with the bad service, well that is what brought me here. I hope the owner reads the review and makes the necessary adjustments. read more

We walked in and were able to seat ourselves, it's a nice little place with a bunch of TVs playing anime, super cute vibe! The menus were QR codes but I did see physical menus were also available if needed. We ended up getting 2 appetizers, the chicken katsu and the jalapeño bombs, and both were suuuper good! Funny enough, they forgot the jalapeño in one of our jalapeño bombs, but instead of giving us one single replacement our waitress gave us an entire new order for free! Even aside from that she was very friendly and attentive. My sushi roll was SO good, fully baked so it took a little longer but it was well worth the wait! I chose salmon for the topping, because you do get a choice of fish. I just tried my boyfriend's broccoli from his bowl, but the sauce on it had a very pleasant almost charred/grilled flavor somehow, I don't know what kinda crack they put in there. We both got a special drink, and the bill came out to just under $60 for the two of us- for drinks, 2 appetizers, and an entree each (sushi at that), the price is not too bad! We definitely plan to be back, hopefully as regulars as there is much more we'd like to try :) read more

Recently however the prices have gone up and the rolls I usually order are smaller. Also the last week we got takeout and the salmon in the rolls tastes "off". Don't get me wrong, this place is often VERY busy but the lady who (I am assuming owns it) HUSTLES every single time we are there. Our food always comes out correct, and in a timely manner.
