The car looked great on the website and had all the features I wanted and was priced about $4k under what I was finding in my area. I was a little nervous putting all my trust in a dealership across the country especially considering I couldn't test drive it. Horatiu was very direct, to the point with zero nonsense. He informed me of several small defects in the car (small scratches) and was very honest and trustworthy. He's a busy guy and stays away from the car salesman haggling by just offering great prices. Read some negative reviews of him and the dealership that just don't add up. Yes, he's to the point but extremely quick to respond and if your serious about buying a car from him goes the extra mile. Had the car shipped and when it arrived it was exactly as described and exceeded my expectations. For a car that has 33k miles it is in incredible shape. Not one complaint or regret whatsoever. This review is overdue as I've been wanting to share my experience for a while now, but life keeps getting in the way. If you are in the market for a quality used car that has been well maintained then this is the place to go. The owner Horatiu knows his cars and has all the right connections at the dealerships to do an in depth review of each car's history to make sure his customers are getting a quality car. Because of this fact the cars are not listed at the lowest price out there as he is not aiming to be the low price leader. However, I can say with confidence that his customers are getting a great value for what they are getting. He is honest and confident, but by no means arrogant as a small few stated in the reviews. He even goes the extra mile above and beyond to help his customers. I went there to look at a M8 competition and the plan was to trade my older 2016 750. It was Friday evening near closing time, but he had told me that he can wait for me as long as I could get there by 5pm. When I got there just before 5pm, there was an Alpina B8 that mesmerized me to the point where I didn't even want to look at the M8. The price was more than I had budgeted for, but I knew I would regret it if I didn't go for it. I sent him a text on Sunday that I wanted to move forward with the purchase and trade in. I received an immediate response and set up an appointment for Tuesday morning to go and finalize everything. The financing was easy as I filled out the application online on Sunday with an approval in hand Monday morning. He had told me what he could offer me on the trade as he had looked at it when I went there on Friday. I wasn't thrilled with the offer. He explained that it is not something he would sell there because of the high mileage and older year model being a 2016 with almost a 100k on it. He said he would need to wholesale it and that was the best he could do on it. At the same time he said I can get much more if I was willing to sell it myself. Given my current situation with work and family obligations that leaves very little spare time I decided to do the trade. It's been nearly 2 months and I couldn't be happier with my car and I have no regrets about the price or the trade in. At the time I was signing the paperwork I stated that it was much more than what I was planning on spending. He immediately said please don't do it if you're not comfortable with the payments. I told him while it was more than I planned the payments were still okay and doable. I'm 51 years old and I have been driving between 30-40 thousand miles a year (mostly for work) for the past 20 years, so I have purchased many cars in the timeframe. I had an outstanding experience purchasing a vehicle from Horatio at Select Motors. It was a no pressure environment, which was nice after visiting other dealerships earlier in the day. I would recommend setting up an appointment if possible. When Horatio is with a client, he puts 100% of his attention into making the customers experience as good as possible. Let me start by saying that Horatio Pop, the owner, is not your usual used car salesman. He isn't going to "beg" for your business and he's not going to negotiate much, if at all, on price. He knows the value of his cars and treats knowledgeable buyers as real prospects. If you're "just looking," don't expect him to stop what he's doing to show you a dozen cars and take you on a bunch of test drives. However, after my experience I am happy we went to Select Motors and beyond pleased with our service. I've worked as a personal stylist in a high end boutique in San Mateo for some time and I can relate to Horatio and his business model. If you are serious about your purchase, know exactly what you're looking for, and have the financial ability to support those choices...Select Motors is for you. If you're the shopper who likes to browse the clearance rack for an hour, then haggle over a pair of $29.99 jeans... this might not be the place for you. This is not the H&M of car shops, this is Gucci, this is Chanel, this is high end. We called ahead and scheduled our appointment. During our time we had to take care of other appointments and Horatio accommodated us. He completed our paperwork while we were away which really expedited our experience. I forget the name of his associate but he deserves acknowledgment for staying late to wait for us. I can't understand why so many people complained about their customer service, as far as we are concerned there was not one thing to complain about. This isn't a large franchise with 30 hungry salesmen salivating over every customer, and I can only imagine anyone offended by the service at Select Motors arrived with hopes and dreams of being catered to. We came in to purchases 2017 X5 40e. We did our research, looked at cars as far away as Texas, and found nothing that matched the low miles and reasonable price of Select Motors. We had our money ready and didn't need to browbeat anyone over the price. Horacio is a no nonsense, straight to the point, high integrity person. He sets a fair price (to you and to him) and doesn't haggle. If you know what you want and he has it I highly recommend working with him. At one point I was trying to figure out how to go see the car in person (never did, bought it sight unseen based on the pictures and description) and he suggested I buy a local car. Imagine that! Not only was this my first car buying experience, but I was looking to buy a car right in the middle of COVID from across the country (I currently live in Indiana). I came across a posting on autotrader for a very well equipped 2017 Boxster 718 S at a very reasonable price. However, I had tons of questions initially, especially as a first time car buyer looking to make an out of state purchase. Despite seeing tons of pictures online, I was very nervous about not being able to inspect it in person for any defects, do a test drive, or do a traditional pre-purchase inspection. Who is this guy/dealership? Am I about to wire my money to a "Nigerian prince?" What if I never get the car? What if the car is actually in bad condition? Are there scratches I can't see from the pictures? I'm sure a lot of out of state buyers also have similar concerns and worries. Not to mention - Horatiu's business is an independent dealership not a big franchise and as such, a lot of banks aren't willing to work with them directly for loan applications. I ultimately took a leap of faith, trusting that everything else would work out in the end - and I could not be happier. I just got the car back from my local Porsche dealership and the inspection report was perfect and it looks and drives fantastic. There's one point that I really want to address which is that some people have noted bad experiences with the service. Look - you have to realize that this is a small family owned business. They don't have tons of sales people sitting there doing nothing but suck up to you and try to sell you cars at inflated prices. Horatiu more or less runs the entire store by himself and as such he is incredibly busy! He is a very direct person. A lot of people swing by dealerships to look and test drive with no real intention of ever purchasing. In my opinion, a lot of the criticisms he has received on this site are likely from people who fall into that bucket. I'll admit, I was initially a bit surprised by how direct and no nonsense he was - none of the usual "used car salesman" stereotype. I can understand how some people would find it to be rude but I honestly found it very refreshing, straightforward, and efficient. His job is not to be your servant or be your best friend. His job is to sell you a super high quality car at a great price and he does a FANTASTIC job of doing that. Go in with your expectations properly calibrated and you will have a great time. Ok. I wrote that previous update when I was at the dealership; "1200 miles" was the number they provided when discussing the car's condition. Number got stuck in my head. Let's talk specifics. The car was bought 6/23/20 with 20,037 miles. As of 10/12/20, mileage at check in at MINI SC is 21,993. That's 1,956 miles in 111 days, average 17.6 miles a day. That's leisure driving. Now let's take into the account the inconvenience of taking the car to MINI 3 times since purchase! We live 37 miles away, round trip of 74 miles. 222 miles alone was spent to fix issues. Don't forget, we had to jump the car at night 3 weeks in.... drive it to the dealer only to die at their service lot. Not a good sign. Yes, the battery and sensor was fixed free of charge (but please remember that car was just 1.5 months old from purchase at that point) when everything was suppose to be in great condition. So about 1,956 miles in, you think it's realistic to pay for brake pads at $450/each? Or how about Dial controller parts quoted at $315 & $800. After a car purchase subtotal of $27,119.22. Thanks Horatiu. Like I said earlier though, I'm placing majority of fault with MINI SC; they inspected that car twice with me and once with you prior to finding out about the brakes.... they passed it every time. But I tend to give straight forward reviews and not many businesses will get the full 5 since I believe striving to be better should be considered no matter what. Here are my thoughts: Horatio seems honest and very busy. Straight forward, sure. No worries with the pricing since they are fair and better than other places especially dealers. He does his research. He is knowledgeable about the cars he sells. A big plus! We bought the car in less than an hour. The parking lot and warehouse was full of cars. They even have beautiful Porsche 911s! Might go back for one of those at some point. The fellow that handled our test drive was also nice and seems like a car enthusiast. He looks stressed but he is actually pleasant. They buffed out some minor scratches before we took the car. I appreciated that. We test drove 2 cars and only after we knew we were buying one model or the other. I researched for about 2 weeks prior and decided that this place had the car we liked at the right price. No need to price haggle since they really have OK price. Remember people also need to make a living including Horatio and his people. The star I subtracted because: Parking at that location is terrible. They are surrounded by other auto shops so it can be crowded even though they aren't busy. The car we purchased needed oil change 2 months prior but not done. Cheap fixing could've been done prior the sale to minimize hassle on my part. The car license plate took about 1.5months to get which seems ok but not great. He did communicate and update us on the license plate's arrival and what the issue was. Great experience. I saw the posting for a Mini John Cooper Works 2016 and immediately knew that I wanted it. Great price with all the features I wanted, it was a no-brainer. I recently purchased a 2015 Mercedes-Benz E63S AMG from Horatio and I can say the experience was great. It wasn't feasible for me to visit the dealer, and based on the reviews I took a risk and got the car sight unseen. The car was honestly in better condition when it arrived than was described. Horatio was very helpful and communicative during the purchase process, and helped me by scheduling transport for the car to Orange County. Quick tips to determine if you're ready for this place: 1. Know why you're looking for a particular year. If you don't know why you want a 2014 vs a 2015 vs a 2016 vs a 2017 other than price, it means you don't know what you want yet. (e.g. the BMW i3 2014 doesn't have DC charging as a standard option and typically isn't added whereas 2015 and higher does have it standard. Mini cooper, there's one year where the window controls were moved from the center console to the doors. Mercedes c230 Kompressor Sports Sedan in 2005, they introduced the blue tint on the windows. 2002 Toyota Rav4 had orange rear turn signals while newer models were red. Later there was a minor facelift to just the front grill and radio surround while everything else remained the same. 2015 Rav4 did not go complete the new offset frontal crash test while newer ones did. I was in search of a quality preowned car. I knew the make and model, but more importantly, I knew which options I had to have to be truly happy with my purchase. I looked locally and found the right car with the wrong option package or the perfect set of features in the wrong color. Some dealers had precisely what I was looking for but the miles were too high or there were issues with the titles. I expanded my search from Miami only to dealers within 1000 miles of me but found myself in the same situation. Reluctantly, I widened my search again, this time with no restriction on distance. I just wanted to see if it was practical to be asking for everything I wanted in a preowned car. To my pleasant surprise I found Select Motors and Horatio Pop. He not only had exactly what I was looking for, HE HAD TWO in his inventory, still within factory warranty, optioned just slightly differently. I was now in a position to sacrifice a couple of features I likely wouldn't take advantage of for a lower mile vehicle. I had done so much research learning what I wanted that I was able to have a meaningful conversation with Horatio to confirm the pictures and description. I was even provided a FaceTime virtual walk through of the vehicle once we established a rapport. I have never made a purchase of this size from 3,000 miles away, sight unseen, but Horatio made me feel comfortable. We looked at the highlights that I was interested in and I was also shown the very few flaws in the paint and wrinkles in the leather. It was a fair and honest analysis. The final decision was mine to make and I never felt any pressure. I did however have to show more than simply being interested in the high end inventory at Select. After all it's a business, not a car show. I respected Horatio's time and he answered all of my questions. I was even provided with contact information for the service technician from the dealership that maintained the car to allow me to become comfortable with my decision. I am not easy to please, but I am patient and thorough. Once we handled all the paperwork, overnighting documents back and forth, Horatio met with a transporter that I had hired and the vehicle was delivered straight to my driveway. I even got a follow up call to make sure I was happy. Make your life and your car search easier: get your financial house in order before you start looking. You've got to know how much you can spend and be ready to buy as soon as you find that unicorn. I don't doubt that your cars may be great, but your level of service sucked! I wasn't on the phone longer than 30 seconds and even then I knew this wasn't the place for me. I made an offer on a vehicle and was rudely shut down. Then he emphasized on how he wouldn't take my offer even if I added a few grand more. Look, there's ways of doing business. I haven't even met this guy yet and he already scared me away. Then I mention that he's being rude and his response is "I'm just being straight forward". I recently purchased a 2011 M3 with the Competition Package from Select Motors. Horatio might be a little gruff and off-putting at first, but once he realizes you are serious, he warms right up. The first thing you notice is how spotlessly clean and meticulously kept his indoor showroom is kept. This is a man who loves cars and knows how to take care of them - his vehicles are well detailed and immaculate. He answered all my questions, showed me all of the history including the maintenance related to the car. He was very up front regarding the car; this particular car had been in a minor accident, and the CarFax report (which was provided for free in the ad) showed this accordingly. He had the car thoroughly inspected by BMW, and it passed these checks with flying colors. 5000 miles of driving later, I couldn't be more pleased. The car has held up without issue or complaint, and the factory warranty still applies for another 4000 miles or, until the end of December. I didn't find his place "sketchy" at all as another reviewer commented; it was exactly the opposite for me. I recently purchased 2012 BMW X5 a couple weeks back from Select Motors and couldn't be happier! I did my research before deciding to go to Select Motors. In reading the reviews what I got from it was: make an appointment, have a good idea of what you are looking for, and of course be nice. That is not a crazy ask in my opinion. His shop is not huge and the cars have to be pulled out for test drives unlike regular dealerships where they have an abundance of space. I agree that it is spotless and he definitely cares about the cars he sells. If you do your homework beforehand, you will know Horatio's prices are competitive, at least that was the case for me. He is not the only dealer out there who doesn't prefer to negotiate on price, not everyone likes to haggle (...why places like carmax are so successful). I am in sales and I appreciated the competitive price so I did not have to deal with the game for my car purchase. Throughout the entire process Horatio and his team have been nothing but wonderful. He made sure the car was inspected, cleaned, and to his caliber before he would even let me test drive it and I appreciated that. He did not mind our numerous questions about the car and fixed the little things that go a long way like the dings from being a pre-owned car or one of the keys not working right. After the car was purchased there were a couple things that came up and all I had to do was call to come in and have it checked out. They have helped me fix any issues that have come up with no hassle. Overall, I am not a fan of buying cars, I dread it actually, but Horatio and his team made it a pleasantly surprised experience. This is a no bullshit dealership. Don't come here expecting to test drive the BMW and the mini, oh and the Porsche. Any reasonable potential car buyer who has done basic research will get along long well here. If you haven't done your research and your just looking to joyride don't expect any warm welcomes. Horatio was great. Yes you cannot negotiate with him but I found his price to be fare especially if you are looking for a specific car. I was searching for a particular car which just happened to be at this place. He is a business person so of course he will tell you what all other sales person will do, that others are looking at the same car. But I was not desperate but the car was in great condition. He let me test drive the car and it was in great condition. It's been probably 2 or 3 months since I bought the car and it's great. I love my car. If you are serious and know how to test and check the car I don't think you need to worry. Overall I'm glad I bought my car from Horatio. read more

I searched for the car the year the milage and price range. I also knew the features I wanted. So when I read some of the reviews realized many of these people were shopping but necessary looking for something in particular. Horatrio knows his cars, loves cars and makes a living finding specific types of cars. He handled his business with me like a pro. He isn't necessarily your friendly stop by and drive all my high end cars and leave. It's by appointment only. He doesn't play that game. He sells high end high tech, high quality automobiles. And yes you may find your car a grand or so cheaper. But if you know what you're looking for this is the place to go to! Select Motors I'll be back again for sure! read more

Can you give a car dealer five stars? Hmmm. I think so. Horatio took care of us and has the right prices listed from the get go. This is not a slimy haggle place and I appreciated that. It seems like the mentality these days is stuck in the past. With everyone walking around with a smart phone and all of the pricing reviews in hand the deal situation has changed. The car we bought was priced for an excellent condition - low mile car. Which it is. I felt better with the pricing and quality of cars here than at two dealers we visited. (BMW) The cars in the showroom reveal their strategy. Have low mile special executive cars coming off lease that are flawless or near flawless and sell them at a competitive price. Get referrals. Rinse and repeat. We did not expect this and were guarded and now we will go again when we buy another. If you have to negotiate everything then this may not be the place for you. If you know the price of the car and want a gem then go. read more

Good price on the car no problems. no nonsense easy to deal with. Car was not advertised with warranty. I was surprised when I went to the Audi dealership.....they advised I had Audi care and explained I wouldn't pay for a single thing until the car reaches 80,000 miles. Thank you. Great experience.
