Sena is SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD!!! Best margaritas ever. Their fish tacos grilled are the best I've had and their salmon salad is just amazing!!! Short rib tacos are a must as well. And I have to say...I saw the negative review about the hostesses not being smiley enough, and though I've seen some people not always smile, I can't agree to say that that is the spirit of Sena. The owners response was so incredibly humble and transparent to what it's like to be a restaurant in this pandemic world. People, restaurants were hit the HARDEST and they are doing the best they can. We need a o give some GRACE for customer service industries right now and support them with a little more smiling to cheer up those hard workers who are crazy overwhelmed with more work than they should have on their plate. We got takeout from here and drove all the way back after we realized they forgot our lemonades--easy mistake, no biggie thus far. On the way back, we called to inform them, and a waitress apologized saying their website is very bad. We park, wait for them, they tell us they haven't made them yet. Five minutes pass, we get them, drive away, only to find out the lemonade's got alcohol in it. We specifically ordered the non-alcoholic ones. (Even double checked to be sure.) We circle back, call them and give heads up, park, get back in line. I say "Hey we're here to pick up the lemonades." Dude with the grey hair dramatically pauses and goes "But you got yours already." Exhausted, I now have to convince this guy I'm not running an elaborate scheme for an extra lemonade! I say "Yeah I already explained this to your coworker but they had alcohol in them. I want ones without alcohol." He goes "But you ordered from the website right?" I say yeah. "Well then you ordered the alcoholic ones." I ask "Well does it say 'hard' lemonade or cocktail or something?" He said no. Another guy slams the lemonades on the counter without acknowledging me. (I checked the website and there are in fact two options, with or without alcohol. And I selected the correct one. See screenshot.) So we drive home 30 minutes later than intended, wondering why these people had to be so petty and hostile about their own error. What's so hard about at least saying "Sorry to make you come back twice" or something? Oh, and we saw this coming on the ride home, but the food was completely mediocre. read more

Came here after work with some coworkers for tacos and margs and they were amazing!! The braised short rib taco was the absolute best and I can eat it everyday for the rest of my life! Margaritas were so refreshing. They had this cucumber jalapeño one that was just perfect! read more

We are happy to have Sena as a part of the Monrovia community! My husband and I had our casual microwedding ceremony out back on the patio not too long ago. The brick wall, string lights, and fire pit tables provided a charming ambiance. Nikki was a pleasure to work with for preparing the menu and making arrangements. Food options are casual but very tasty, and you can even opt for more premium wines and champagnes. I recommend the patio for parties, showers, etc. They offer you different options for renting out the patio space depending on your party size. They also have event menu options to make your life easy, or you can customize the food options for your event. Sena in general has great drinks - the watermelon margarita is my favorite! Their happy hour food and drink menu is always a reliable good time. Again, we are happy you are here in Monrovia and hope you'll be around for years to come! read more

Went today after a rough week at work. My family enjoyed their meals- but I ordered the Mediterranean bowl and the chicken was dry and inedible. Everyone else enjoyed their food and the server was great. Waitress didn't come back after we ordered, so I couldn't ask for fresh chicken, or another round of drinks. Once we waved her down, I told her about the chicken and she just said sorry. I would have appreciated having the chicken removed from the bill. Terrible end to a terrible week. read more

Pet Friendly! They only take reservations for groups of 6 or more We went on a busy Friday night. The farmers market was going on so sitting out in the patio we got to hear live music. Great service even on a busy day. Buenos Nachos: 5/5 Outstanding and delicious. It's not that big I would say it's shareable with two people or if everyone just wants a small taste 4 people is good. I got the Filet Mignon which was delightful. French Dip: 2/5 I wasn't really a fan. The sandwich didn't really have a favor and the dip didn't add too much. Maybe needed more seasoning. Nik Burger: 3/5 It was decent enough as a burger. It didn't particularly stand out. I did enjoy their side of spicy coleslaw. Buenos Nachos are what i'll be back for! Don't know where to start, but the staff, the food, the location, the atmosphere here is perfect, couldn't be any better. There aren't any complaints at all, they're always very sweet and polite. The food is always a perfect 10/10, the location is very relaxing. The back patio is nice and relaxed with fire tables and an opening overhead. We hosted a retirement party there today and it was a great experience. From talking to the staff to set it up to the actual party, everyone was friendly and easygoing. All the guests had a great time. Everyone enjoyed the drinks and tacos in particular. It had a relaxing and chill vibe. Not pretentious or over the top. Staff checked on us constantly. I've ordered here for take out due to the Pandemic and when I go to pick up, the host or waitress ( and I use that term lightly!) they seem to be fresh outta a sorority party hazing, bad attitude, having a holier-than-thou presence, like it's a chore for them to do their job. And there's this guy, kinda Douchey, well actually he is a douche, kinda walks around like his $hit don't stink, I kinda don't like to go there to pickup, next time I'll just pay the delivery charge to have it delivered. We planned a mini bridal shower for my best friend and as usual the service, the food, the drinks, and the atmosphere was amazing!!! I've had other events here (my graduation, and a few birthdays) and have always been treated so well. Nikki was so awesome in helping us get the area ready and decorated. He looked at me a few times while he was making drinks. That's fine, I was being patient. But, as soon as he was free, he helped two guys who just walked in. They've got a great mix of regular menu items, breakfast items, and even half decent açaí bowl (although it was super small for a big price). The short rib quesadilla was fabulous as always. Came here during lunch today and really liked the ambiance of the place. Very casual and chill with a good choice of American/Mexican food on the menu - ranging from tacos to burgers to ceviche and wings. I thought the food was good but I've had better tacos and ceviche elsewhere (also they were small portions). The chips and fries were very delicious though! The service was ok but the waiter didn't come as often as I would like - especially getting our drink refills. Overall, I would come back if I'm in the area again and want a relaxing casual meal. read more

Absolutely love Sena! The watermelon jalapeño margarita is the best in my opinion, although there are several to choose from and they are all very good. The food here is always super fresh and delicious and they have a very good menu. Their outside area is really fun to hang out at with a group of people. My wife and I love the tacos and drinks here!! This is the jewel of Old Town Monrovia. Troy, the bartender, recognizes us even after months away. Our favorite tacos got to be the short ribs but the tacos of the day are always surprisingly good. My friends love the lobster mac and cheese but I stick with the tacos here. One of my favorite drinks here is the watermelon with jalapeños margarita. It's flavorful yet strong. The restaurant's interior and furniture probably need a little facelift but that's not quite important given great foods, strong drinks and excellent services. Cheers!! read more

If you buy two drinks and a lunch entree, you can get another lunch entree of equal or lesser value for FREE! We ate in the back, which has a lounge feel. There weren't a lot of people there for lunch so it was actually quite relaxing. They had fans and a large flat screen TV. At lunch time, the tacos, sandwiches and surf & turf are $2 cheaper. (sweet). I ordered the chicken tacos, which I found pretty interesting. I've never had tacos with feta cheese in it. They are originally $9.00, but during lunch hours, it's only $7.00. The chicken pieces inside were all white breast meat and pretty good portions. The chips were a little burnt, maybe old oil too ( had a funny taste), the salsa was just OK. One of my friends ordered the sweet potato fries, wow so good! I couldn't stop eating them. Happy Hour is 4-7pm everyday ;) There were 5 of us and with our coupon, the bill came out to $54. I really think this place has changed a lot since my last review. Obviously I've come here several times since and though it takes a bit to get service in the back patio, they generally do their best. I am a fan of their lunch specials and drinks. Their lunch specials change from time to time and are a great deal, though their regular menu is pretty good as well. Happy Hour has some great deals on drinks and they have a pretty good selection of rotating taps, which I adore. My most recent visit was wonderful. My friend and I shared our burgers-- he got the Wagyu Burger #2 and I got the #1! I definitely liked mine more since I had the caramelized onions and truffle aioli with aged cheddar. Yum! Everything was perfect and not too strong or overwhelming. The #2 burger had all the good stuff-- jalapenos, bacon, avocado. But tastewise, mine was the winner (for me)! Otherwise, their short rib grilled cheese and lobster grilled cheese are both good and filling. Fries are always awesome, but I found out this time that they make a mean dill potato salad. We went here for happy hour the other day and we had a great time. The happy hour is very reasonable and they have several options for drinks and appetizers. They also have drinks specials throughout the weekend. Although I'm not a huge Jameson Pickle Back fan (I enjoy my Jameson straight up) it's great deal and apparently, very popular. We sat at the bar and the service was great. Everyone was very friendly, knew the menu and very attentive. I t's not a large bar area, but there is also seating on the back patio, which is really nice. They have a decent wine selection and the corkage fee is only $10 if you bring your own, which is very reasonable. I'm sure we'll be back here again soon, especially for happy hour. read more

I really, really want to like this place. But...here it is: Kobe Truffle slider was dry as dirt and a joke spot of truffle cheese was put on it. ( why bother? It added no flavor) next up we have FLAT beer. This is a problem at this place. Honestly, we've had this issue before but we keep trying. ( not again) If, and that's unlikely, we come back...its bottle beer only! Okay so here is some grace....our server was friendly, pork tacos rock the place and the queso dip and salsa Rojas are yummy yummy yummy. So tonight the real reason for two stars is the flat beer and the response my hubby got...he told our server he didn't want another beer and was not asking to have it removed from our tab, he was just giving the server a heads up that it was flat. This has been a problem here before so I'm thinking the staff is not versed in keg change outs, co2 or there's a temperature issue. Any how, so my guy tells our server and we get the "look" and then he eyes the beer...tells us no one else complained and it was "strange". At this point I'd be okay with it all, but when its time to leave and the bee is still untouched, said server brings my guy a half beer and says " is this better? Maybe it was flat since it was the first pour on the new Keg?" Seriously? We're walking out and he insults us with half a freaking beer that obviously had head and carbonation when the original beer clearly did not. There are things I like here but the overall service is lacking. With so many choices in Monrovia it takes a lot to motivate me to pick Sena. read more

We went there for a Happy Hour Round II after having some disappointing watered-down drinks next door : ( And then metamorphosis! : ) In the first place, they have a lovely spacious patio in the back, so make sure you are seated there. We were welcomed warmly, as was Theodore - our raffle trophy gold fish. It didn't stop us from ordering fish tacos later on - the order that received a lot of comments from our non-lacking-the-sense-of-irony servers. I tried their watermelon jalapeno margarita, which was just the right amount of spice, sweetness and alcohol. Really good! My friends had a red sangria (fruit needed to soak just a little longer), and a lemon drop (no complaints). We also split some chips and salsa and tried their special happy hour item, which was fish tacos. Everything was pretty decent. We didn't go for any menu items, but will definitely be back for those.
