I was very impressed with the FOOD, those chiefs are the best. We enjoyed our Granddaughter's 8th Birthday there. I was thinking it was bar food but omg was I so wrong. It was excellent. All 10 of us gave it a 10/10. The stake salad was amazing and burger was cooked really good. I have to say that the nacho fries killed it. It was the best. The service of workers was really nice, always attentive, and it was kinda packed. The back where we sat was very warm and enjoyable setting. The place was clean. I have very positively reviewed this restaurant/bar before and still have a positive view, but they need a little revamp in customer service. There have been a few times when I have waited to be acknowledged to be seated and walked away because nobody came out. Tonight, although seated quickly, I then waited quite some time for someone to take my order, to the point I considered leaving. Drink was delayed, but food came timely. Then I waited again for somebody to notice I needed to pay and leave until I went inside to request my check, which was rung up wrong. Team, your food is delicious. You get very busy at times and that is tough on staff so there is some grace, but you can do better. You could also work to expand your draft menu a bit. read more

The food is always good here! And it's such a cool and vibrant location. We love coming here and so do a lot of Old Town regulars. We try not to come here during peak dining hours because they get really packed! I had the sliders last time... they were awesome! I also love that they have a small(ish) menu. Sena by far is one of my favorite restaurants on Myrtle! The food and drinks never disappoint! They really do have great bartenders and cooks. My only complaint is that they sometimes are understaffed, especially on Sundays. Sometimes it feels like forever to get our check, not because the barters/ servers aren't attentive, more so because they simply are busy and understaffed. My husband and I sometimes want to order more drinks but have just skipped out because we know it's going to take awhile to get our check. This instance has happened multiple times. Outstanding or horrific I won't waste our time reviewing average. How are you going to send this type of garbage out! Ordered a pastrami sandwich. It is so burnt, I cannot even eat it. I almost spit it out. The bread is so soaked with oil and carbon, I am disgusted and feeling sick. I think they fried the pastrami on a dirty grill and scraped it up, putting the old oil and carbon into my sandwich. Probably the worst food I have ever been served, and I eat out often. Went to Sena for the first time with a group of buddies for my birthday. Food and service was 10/10. Yvonne who helped us, made sure we had seating during the rain by one of the heaters to keep us warm. Staff was friendly and the restaurant is very welcoming and has a small- town home feel to it. Burger I got was very good, tender and the patty was thick and seasoned well. Fries are a 10/10 very crunchy. Loved talking to the servers and will be returning again for sure! Sena is a nice restaurant on Myrtle boulevard. It looks rather small upon walking in but you'll quickly notice there is another side. The other side is outdoors and has colorful umbrellas to shade everyone from the sun. This is where my friend and I were seated; at a two seater table. It was the weekend and it was fairly busy with people chatting away and enjoying the nice weather. Our waiter handed us menus and got our beverages. I ordered the chopped Cobb salad which came with roasted corn, tomato, avocado, and lettuce. It also came with chicken, bacon, and bleu dressing which I opted out of. Although this is not a vegan restaurant, you can veganize any dish. My friend ordered a burrito that also came with chips and salsa. I enjoyed my Cobb salad--the lettuce was crisp and light. The diced tomatoes were ruby red and juicy. I don't care too much for corn but it added much needed color to my salad. The avocado was sliced to perfection and diced cucumber that was refreshing. TLDR: Overall: 4/5. A perfect sit down place and have some tasty food with drinks! First time coming out to the streets of Monrovia and our first stop was Sena. For a Saturday night with 4 people I did expect a bit of a wait but we were seated outside pretty quickly! COVID: 5/5. The hostess and the rest of the staff had on face shields and masks. Outdoor seating only (with tables in the back as well), and paper menus. Parking: On Myrtle there's street parking all along as well as a parking lot around the back. I believe you don't have to pay after a certain point. Food: Nachos - 3.7/5 For an appetizer, the nachos were decent sized especially splitting for two. I wasn't crazy about them but they were just fine to munch on. The sour cream kinda turned most of the bottom chips pretty moist. Drinks: 4.5/5 We all got Margs (mango and pomegranate) with a chili rim which I highly recommend. Super tasty with it! Not gonna lie, the marg was kinda pricey for what it was worth (there's also add ons if you want to make it a fancier marg but the base price starts at $8) but it was still pretty good. Years ago my mom brought me to this place for lunch and it's become a favorite of mine ever since, when I'm in the San Gabriel area. It's a cute little spot along Myrtle in Monrovia's old town. It's straight across from the Theater so if you're looking for a spot for lunch or dinner before a movie, it's perfect. I can say that I've always had great table service here, very pleasant and kind waiters. Pretty fast service! I've never had to wait long for my meal. The front has outdoor seating, inside is the bar then it leads to the back seating that's also outdoor. The back is my favorite space to sit and enjoy my meal, it's comfy and cozy back there and the tables have little fire pits on them! Their Happy Hour is amazing! If you're a carnivore like myself, order the Kobe sliders, they won't disappoint. The margaritas are 5 bucks too! So definitely try to make it between 4-7pm during the week! I love all their tacos! I usually get the fish, pork and steak. You can't go wrong with the tacos! The burgers are pretty delicious too! If I'm really hungry I'll order the Ceviche appetizer. Super fresh fish and great flavor! It comes with a side of tortilla chips to enjoy. Overall this place is well worth the trip to old town Monrovia. After running some errands in old town Monrovia we ended up at Sena for a bite to eat, and luckily we arrived right at the start of happy hour (4-7pm). We sat in the super cute back-patio and started with a few happy hour cocktails. They have beer, wine and sangria options but I went with a chili rimmed pomegranate margarita ($6.00) which I really enjoyed. The white sangria ($6.00) was also yummy, a tad bit on the sweet side but still refreshing. The happy hour menu also has really great food options all at fantastic prices. I stared with the "Tacos Especial" (chicken) you only get one but for $3.50 you get a double layer tortilla with a good amount of chicken and guacamole. The flavor was good, nothing wild though. We ordered some queso with chips and it was pretty standard as well as Mexican Street Corn for the table and that was pretty good too - I'm not a huge fan of corn but everyone else enjoyed it. Next I tried the Kobe slider ($5.00) (1 per order) the flavor was all there, I just wish it would have been cooked as I asked, medium. It was over cooked but still yummy, not quite as good as my mom's burger ($14.00 regular menu) which was loaded with deliciously caramelized onions and cheesy goodness- her's was also not cooked as ordered. After seeing my brother-in-law's tempura shrimp taco I had to order one for myself. And I am so glad I did, as it was the best thing I ordered at Sena. I added some spicy mayo sauce and it hit just the right spot. We finished off with an order of the cream filled churros ( 4 per order) which come served with chocolate sauce. Overall Sena is a great option for happy hour and for the price, I think worth checking out. read more

Tried Sena on two occasions - for lunch and after work happy hour event. For lunch, I tried the burger by Nik and thought it was okay. The combination of ingredients was good, but probably not the best burger I've ever had. I really appreciated that the meat was juicy. The fries were nice and crispy. I also really like that Sena has a nice list of beers on tap and in bottles. The ambiance is pretty nice and there are plenty of seats outdoors on their patio. The service was pretty quick and overall, I'd say Sena was a good experience! The parking is street parking so that can be tough at peak hours, but there are plenty of lots around. Esquites, bomb. Shrimp tempura taco and ceviche tostada? Bomb. Filet nachos hoooooooly cow, delicious. Kobe slider, Oh yes. Short rib taco and egg rolls, So. Freaking. Good. The only item that was so-so was the quesadilla and that's my bad for thinking the green chili was like green Chile with pork or something instead of just cheese and peppers. Either way it was still good and big. Another star item from this day out was the watermelon jalapeno margarita, so much so that we ended up drinking 5 of them. Oh boy. I got the No. 4 burrito with chicken, avocado and egg whites--and I think that was mistake #1 for me. The chilaquiles looked amazing, though. The burrito wasn't bad by any means, but it was very small and not that flavorful--could've made the same thing myself. It's definitely one of those Mexican brunch places that is more Americanized in its menu and "brunch" ambiance, which isn't necessarily a bad thing--but the food was not as satisfying. The dessert, mmm hard pass. The drinks are also hit or miss. But for now, I'll just stick to soft drinks here. The service is okay, but could improve. There's some miscommunication with the staff when they're really busy. I understand that during a rush that can happen, however, this place isn't big enough for the amount of times we've had to wait to get the servers attention or our food. OK..so I've been to Sena at LEAST 10 time over the past few years. They are O.K. The back patio is nice with the decor and the fireplaces but the servive..I would give a 2 star. They don't seem to have it together with the seating as it's a pretty small place and sometimes the wait can be at 35 minutes, which isn't bad on a weekend. ( I have actually waited over an hour on a friday night) The food is just good..not great. I've had many dishes here. The Cobb Salad is really good the tacos are ok. We only go here because it's one of the only places left that you dont to have asian food in our area. Drinks are ok...it's a really fun place if you are out and about on the weekend but for an actual sit down nice place for dinner I would not recommend. It's kind of unwelcoming in the front area..but if you make your way to the back patio it's a bit nicer. If I had a choicxe of other restaurants I would pick something else. Pretty disappointed with this place. It's really gone down hill along with their other restaurant. Tables are wobbly, place looks beat up. The service is horrendous. They all have attitudes when you ask for something basic. We came here when it was totally empty and it quickly got busy. Somehow we ended up waiting over 50 minutes for our food to arrive, yet everyone around us had their food before us. Our waiter, gave us zero updates and we had to inquire several times. The food finally arrived cold, bland and my mother ended up getting ill immediately after. Coincidence? I think not. Sooo sooo disappointed! Sena has always been a favorite - great environment, great food, fun place to hang out. We went last night (Friday night) and so many things went wrong 1) Drink order was wrong 2) Offered to bring a new drink and then charged us for it (we paid for it) 3) Food order was wrong (asked for dry salad & another meat - came dressed with the wrong meat) 4) Took 45 minutes to get our appetizer chips/salsa (finally came after our food arrived). On top of that, the service was just so slow (I understand that they are understaffed) AND our waiters mask was below his nose and mouth. I know we are dining outdoors, but come on guys, you know better than that when serving customers & carrying their food. I will say one of the team members assisting (bringing out food) was super helpful so appreciate that. I really hope they can turn this around... we want to come back, but won't until things change. read more

We came on Tuesday 08/08/23 at around 7:45pm. our servers name was bella. service was slow even though there were only about 3 other tables sat and she only really talked to us to take our order, drop the food off, and then drop off the check (which i had to wave her down for). It was annoying waiting forever for the check while we could see staff laughing and talking by the pos. After finally getting the check back I quickly realized she swapped and charged the only other table's card with mine. OK so I found this place on a fluke. I was driving around Monrovia and I was quite hungry. There's so many places to choose from to eat so I couldn't make up my mind. But this one little spot was crowded so I figured it Hass to be good. Now I have to admit it was a little bit too loud for me, it was a drunk guy Yelling at his son which didn't make the experience very pleasant but the waiting staff was more than kind to change our seats and put us in the back. I ordered some sliders and a drink and my wife ordered fish tacos and a drink and let me tell you, The food was excellent! If I was any hungrier, I would've ordered double. Now it's a bit pricey but I always say you get what you pay for it and in this case it's the truth the food was at the right price point, so no complaints here. The staff was very helpful and kind And the place was very clean. My only complaint would be that some of their patrons were a bit vulgar and quite loud but that's not their fault so I didn't knock off a star for that. So if you're ever in the Monrovia area, make sure you give this place a try. I don't believe you won't be disappointed. So have a great day and great eats. read more
