Tasteless, terrible & Tedious. This place has to be one of the worst restaurants I've been to in my 50 years. I won't bother y'all with all the problems with this place so I'll keep it short. Tasteless, unseasoned, poorly cooked, poor quality food. Terrible service that appears to start with management down producing a sad and unwelcoming atmosphere. Tedious to wait 20 min for terrible food (it wasn't busy either) which allowed me to notice how dirty everything was in the dining room. Yuck! The only thing that was alright was the price. I Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant!! It literally feels like you're eating at your grandma's house. The food was so good!! I got the country fried steak with white gravy and fried okra and green beans. My bf got the fried catfish with fried okra and fried squash. The waitress was very polite and attentive to our table. We went for breakfast and the food was good. Traditional breakfast options. Service was lacking today. It took a little bit for our server to come over and when she did there was little eye contact as if she was preoccupied. That is a pet peeve of mine. When you are serving me and my party please give us your attention so you get the order correct. Anyway, apparently someone had called out so the cook was the cashier and also had to manage the drive through. In my opinion, the wait staff could have assisted in this area because a standard breakfast order took nearly 30 minutes to be made and brought out. Did I mention that they were not that busy in the dining room area? If I go again I will update my review. If the service is the same or worse you can expect the rating to drop. read more

I went for breakfast. They had fast service with very nice waitresses. The eggs were undercooked. I wanted jammy yolk and I got runny. That is understandable though. The sausage was decent but the pancakes had a weird taste to them. They were crispy and had an incredible aroma. They were still good though. The biscuits are really good! I have to agree with the review that said a no frills restaurant that serves Southern comfort food. Breakfast is served until 10:45. They have a daily lunch special. You can order a big meal with a meat and a choice of two or three vegetables or choose from an assortment of sandwiches on the menu. The hubby ordered Turkey and dressing, pickled beets, a roll, and banana pudding. He said the beets were delicious. He felt there was lots of Turkey but not as much dressing. I had Hamburger steak with gravy and onions, mashed potatoes with gravy, butter beans, fried okra and roll. I also had a side of hush puppies. The hush puppies and butter beans were yummy. The portions were generous. My meal was good, but I was disappointed with the instant mashed potatoes. The service was good. Quick service in a modern version of a hometown dinner atmosphere. Food was very good and service was attentive.

So I've held off writing a bad review for awhile as this restaurant used to be one of my go-tos, sometimes going a couple times a day even BUT no more. The service is slow, the owners rude and dismissive and the orders almost always wrong. Things got left out of to-go orders almost every time and owners never apologized or trie to correct. Only kept going back as place has some of the tastiest albeit pre-made crab cakes around that my mom adores. Disappointing that more people don't speak out so they can improve. read more

The service was terribly slow. Waited 30 minutes to get even talked to. Then we waited an hour and a half for our food. When we gout our food the bread was soggy and the fish was off. Not only that but the red curly haired server was rude. She snapped at my aunt, had an attitude when i walked up to get a refill after she walked to our table to drop off silver ware but didn't take my cup so to be helpful i brought it up to the cashier to fill and she said "im coming" when i explained that i thought we had to bring it up there she cut me off saying "no". She brought my sister the wrong plate and when we brought it to her attention and she sighed and said to just keep the plate and walked off without another word. First time here, heard great thing but wasn't impressed. Came in about 10am on a Sunday. It is a seat yourself restuarant, there was no wait and open tables but most were not bused, we sat at the only available booth. Waitress walked past us several times without acknowledgement. After we ordered the wait time for our food was very very long. We noticed that others around us had to wait just as long so it wasn't just us. Coffee is a small serving and not very good. Food was decent, nothing spectacular and I could have made the same thing twice at home in the same time it took to get our food. Overall time here was 1.5 to 2 hours. This is 100% not acceptable for a family with 2 small kids. I can't say I'll be adding this place to our list of places to eat again. read more

My family tried this restaurant this past weekend. I have heard some good things but that was not my experience. There were four of us and ordered different items. My wife only ordered vegetables and they were ok. We had an order of soup and it had been sent back because it was cold, which they did with no complaints. Another ordered the hamburger steak and vegetables and it was good too. I ordered a salad and it came out not having a couple of the items in the salad. When I addressed it with the waitress she blamed the cook and went to check. When she returned, she simply said we were out. Offered no other substitute and kind of joked it off. This was troubling to me since it was 11 dollars. So... you may have a different experience at this restaurant but we won't be back. I have other family members that go there and say it's ok. I will find another restaurant close by or go to Anderson for a meal. I really wasn't impressed with the waitress or the meal. 50% isn't good enough and one was just vegetables so it could have been 75% if they would have gotten a meal with protein. I wanted to see if the cashier would ask me how my meal was and she didn't as she was busy taking to other working help (a male behind the counter). Since she didn't ask, I didn't volunteer any information and that will be money spent somewhere else from now on. So take your chance if you want to dine there not really impressed but I guess you can see that by my post. read more

Tried this spot for the first time after moving to the area. It took 10 minutes to get our order taken. Fine! A woman sitting across from us had her order taken immediately by our same waitress moments after we ordered. 10 minutes later this woman had her dinner. 40 minutes after we had taken our seats and our food was still not out. The woman who arrived and order AFTER US had already left. Were we targeted because we weren't recognized as locals? We're we targeted because we were two grown men eating together? Or does this restaurant just have epically awful service? Either way, we wont't be back and if you have any qualities that might have YOU singled out for terrible service (as everyone around us seemed to be doing just fine) then AVOID. We left after over 40 minutes of sitting there. Our waitress came at minute 39 to say she will check to see what the problem is. Awful. Truly awful. read more

I'd like to use this forum to actually thank the ownership/management/workers of the Seneca Family Restaurant. I've dined here twice, and on both occasions had a great overall experience. I'm combining the quality of the food, the cleanliness of the restaurant, and the politeness of our server in my overall GREAT rating. Today, there are few places that I can go and not be concerned about food quality/safety yet I have zero concerns about SENECA FAMILY Restaurant, and in fact thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and would recommend them without reservation. Plus - the menu has something for everyone - and if you have traveled at all - you know the best restauranteurs in the business are Greek owners - which this is one of. Enjoy! read more

I ordered the hamburger steak with gravy & onions, the meat was overcooked and the gravy tasted like the brown powdered kind, I also had a side of Mac & cheese with way too much margarine (yes margarine not butter)! This is our favorite place by far. The food is of high quality and the workers really have to work hard to keep up with the labor shortage. Over the summer we have ate here a least once a week and haven't have bad meal yet. The employees are very friends. The owners Costa and George work had to have a great business. It has all the basics - inexpensive products cooked well in a clean atmosphere with DIRT CHEAP PRICES. The two of us can get a freshly cooked full breakfast with OJ and coffee for $13. ??!?! Even the fast food restaurants can't compete with this. That being said, there's no room for piped in music, higher standards of service (you get what you pay for!) or any frills. For a non-brand local family restaurant in the south I can understand why they stay in business. I walked in after a long day ar the hospital with my mom, and the guy behind the counter was very warm, and welcoming. I instantly felt like I was part of the family. Not only did he include me in convos with the regulars, but he also gave me my order for free! This is the best breakfast place in town and the breakfast is served all day. My favorite is the cheeseburgers and the Philly cheese steak breakfast sandwich on pita bread. Love it. However this morning the home fries were made terrible they were hard as a rock and way pasted over cooked. I didn't see the owner there this morning so I really don't think he would have let those home fries leave the kitchen to be served to I a customer. While visiting the south especially dining at a mom-and-pop restaurant I always expect to have a meal bursting with flavor and real home cooking taste. Unfortunately this was not the case the meal was pretty bland lacking well-balanced seasonings. The food wasn't bad by any means however it just didn't have that southern flair one would expect. The vegetables didn't taste fresh they tasted like they came out of a can. And for such a small restaurant there's really no excuse for not preparing fresh vegetables. The biggest saving grace of this place is that the staff was super friendly and the service was excellent.
