And if you missed the event last week, #ParkAveSip will return on Thursday, November 10. During each sip event you'll have the opportunity to visit over 25 different places during your stroll. Participating locations include Alex and Ani, Boca Winter Park, Cocina 214, Lilly Pulitzer, Luma on Park, Park Plaza Gardens, Peterbrooke Chocolatier, The Ancient Olive and so much more! This periodic event is perfect for date night or an evening with your BFFs. Throughout our stops we collected wine, sushi and a glitter monogrammed water bottle from The Grove. We so enjoyed our two hour stroll along Park Ave - this is one of those must try events. Here's some highlights from our Winter Park evening. The Ancient Olive: Multiple stations of wine, cocktails, desserts and BBQ, it was like a mini culinary experience in The Hidden Garden. Boca + ABO: The only place that served beer, so props to Boca and ABO for doling out some hops alongside shrimp and grits. The Grove: While sampling a sparking cocktail, we picked up a gold glitter water bottle complete with a monogram made on-site. #winning Peterbrooke: I FINALLY got to taste the best invention ever known to cookies. The Cookie Shot. Yep, a chocolate chip cookie used for tasting and sipping. Paired with four different coffee cocktails by mü, we enjoyed every sip and bite. Umi Sushi: Our last stop on the stroll and our first time to visit this sushi restaurant. We enjoyed the sake and samples, so we ended up staying for more. We ordered the Crunchy Hako, a raw and spicy roll with tuna, rice crackers, micro greens and a honey-Tabasco sauce. We demolished this plate in about 60 seconds and will be back for more sushi soon.

The wine and food (by Eat More Produce) at Lily Pulitzer were particularly good, and got me in a store in which I wouldn't normally shop. We had a great time at The Ancient Olive tasting olive oils and vinegars while trying wine and their foods. I walked home with the espresso balsamic vinegar and the blackberry ginger vinegar, both excellent. As a newcomer to Winter Park, this was another great event at which I was exposed to many local spots.

They offer 2 miles, 10k and distance dare that includes both. Parking can get tricky so arrive early if you dont want to be circling around for a bit. There is steeet parking and garages to choose from. My biggest con is the route, go over a lot of cobblestone. For runners this can be tricky, especially among crowded areas. I saw a couple people trip and yep....so did I. The uneven roads also are a watch out if you already have a weak ankle/knee from a prior injury....yes me again! The views are great! Pass beautiful houses and nice lakes but the roads could use improvement. There also are two water stations that I can remember of available. The best part of the 10k is you are tremendously rewarded....and not just with a medal! You get your medal, beer glass, towel and so many goodies from vendors. They had breakfast sandwhiches, smoothies, massages, bananas, strawberries, coffee and so much more! Runners of all speeds run the race. If you have never ran a 10k or are nervous to run one this would be the perfect one, get off that couch and get to jogging!

I completed the Distance Dare for the Winter Park Road Race, in which you run the 2 mile race…read morefollowed by the 10k. I am not the speediest of runners, but I'm typically solidly in the middle of the pack. For me, completing the 2 miler and making it to the start of the 10k was a little tight time wise, but doable. It may have been because I was towards the back of the 2 miler starting group, which out me a minute or two behind the clock start of the race. The courses both run through beautiful Winter Park, which provides a great backdrop for a morning run! Bits of the course were a tiny but crowded and there is cobblestone and uneven ground so it's important to watch you footing! Runners who completed the 10k received a medal and completing the Distance Dare also qualified runners for a second medal! I always enjoy some extra bling! The post-race area had a great energy but was a tad crowded, lines for the free beer included with the race were very long, but that wasn't a big deal to me as it was still so early in the morning! Participants receive a free stemless wineglass which was a nice extra piece if swag. Runners can pay extra for access to a VIP area with extra food and some seating, which is something I'd consider in the future. Fun run!

Excellent venue for an Independence Day celebration and fireworks display. I like how they closed…read moreBroad Street and set it up with all kinds of vendors, especially military oriented, and veteran service vendors. They did a lovely job closing out the roundabout at the end of the street and making it into a beer garden and stage for a live band to perform on. There was a roll of the food trucks set up, which my wife and I really enjoyed it. Also a lovely touch for the kiddies, there were some amusement rides set up for them. Lovely viewing site Lakeside for the fireworks display at 9 PM. They did a fabulous job. Looking forward to attending this event again next year.

Had a blast running a 5K on the clay roads and through the blueberry fields…read more I love blueberries, and could not pass up this event even though I was on vacation. Yeah, I'm crazy, but I went to Disney World afterwards! My only gripe about this event was the parking situation. It seems they really oversold the race and with over 800 runners participating the parking was a mess. The staff had little clue as to what to do, and there was really no backup plan or space to direct vehicles into. The race had to be started late to accommodate everyone and in the end it seems they figured it out. 800 people running a 5K! Whoa! Sunny and hot morning to run. For the most part the roads around the farm were ok, but sections were sandy and uneven, so it really offered a good workout. Staff were all around and helpful. Terrific finisher medal, nice shirt, blueberry pancake breakfast, and a pound of delicious u-pick blueberries from the fields afterwards all included. Nice facility to relax in after, and new clean restrooms too. Race packet pickup is the day before at a local hotel, or as I did you can get there a bit early to grab your bib and shirt. They use a tag to tie on your laces to record the run time, but my Strava phone app also worked fine even out on the fields. If ever in the area and have a chance to run this 5K do so. It's a totally different kind of setting. The views of the blueberry fields are beautiful as are the grounds. Fun race in a very wholesome America kind of throwback way. Met lots of good folks there too. Plus, as a blueberry freak I could not resist doing this.

In hindsight, I probably should have mapped the distance from our house. Clermont is quite awaaaays out there from Winter Park. But, in the grand scheme of things, we had a great time. Southern Hills Blueberry farm was nice enough to host this 5k and the landscape made for a beautiful and scenic race. The hardest part, by far, was running through the loose sand at the beginning of the race but , thankfully, it didn't last for long. I've never run on clay roads so this was a cool and different experience. At the completion of the race, all finishers received a cool medal and the ribbon part had a nod to blueberries on it. Nice touch. Make sure to get in line for blueberry pancakes right away as it built up quickly but thankfully moved fast. The tear away tickets for the breakfast were on the race bibs but family and friends not racing could purchase a ticket to have breakfast. Nothing is better than fresh pancackes and syrup using fresh blueberries! Afterwards each participant was able to pick a pound of blueberries for free! Anything over that amount was sold at the rock bottom price of $4/lb! I would highly recommend this 5k for a uniquely Florida racing experience. My husband and I had a great time and think we would be up for doing it again next year. The beautiful scenery also helped. Some tips: They offer packet pickup the day before in a hotel in Clermont. But for those of you that live far, arrive extra early the day of to pick up your race packets and to get parking close to the starting point. As for official race times, I wasn't used to their method. There were no chips on the bib and, instead, you had to tie the chip to your shoe. I opted out of it and just used my fitness tracker.

This run is a similar concept to the more well-known Color Run. It's a 5K, where colored powder…read moregets thrown on you as you run and hopefully have just an all around good time. I'd done the Color Run before, so when this run was featured on Living Social it was enough encouragement for me to register! A couple distinctions that make the Flavor Run unique- -The powders are flavored. Can't say I really put this to the test, but it would be their claim to fame given the Flavor Run name. -You get a medal! Nothing fancy, but always a win in my book. -Packet pick up was at the Whole Foods and Dr. Phillips which was a centrally located spot for me and it was a seamless, easy pick up. You didn't even have to go in the store! -Color runs always equal a fun atmosphere! A couple negatives: - The race started a little bit behind schedule. Never good in the running world. -Race course signage could have been better. There was also some traffic coming into the park which interfered. -Post-race food options could have been better. The line was waaaayy long for a little piece of fruit. Runners need easy access to water and bananas at the minimum. I would do this race again if there was a good deal for it, but wouldn't pay full price.

So this was my first 5K so I can't compare it to any other…read more I honestly never got the gimmicks that they're coming up with, but friends wanted to do this and I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm glad I did because I had fun! There was an option to pick up the packet the day before the race, or before the race itself. There was a morning race and an afternoon race. I know that the morning one got delayed because of the weather (it had been raining), and people were given the option to run in the afternoon instead, which was quite nice. I ran the afternoon race, which also got delayed (no idea why). In spite of the wind, we got quite a bit of powder. There was an initial hit before the run started, and then 3 or 4 stations along the path. We also got water halfway through the race and at the end. And there was quite a bit of fruit at the end too, along with extra color packs for each of us. In all, comparing to the reviews from last year, this time they did a good job controlling any traffic we ran into, plenty of powder, fruit and water. The only downside was the slight delay, but no big deal.

I parked in the mall plaza that's right across the street from the beginning of the trail on Aloma and Howell rd. There's a lot of nice scenic views especially when you're around the area of Baldwin park but there's also some areas that are not so nice unfortunately and look like they're small parks that have been neglected/abandoned. You see a lot of homeless people around these areas and we saw some people who looked like they were doing some smoking that weren't cigarettes so... My advice is don't come on this trail alone, have a buddy, it's the only reason why I don't give it a solid 5 stars.

Parks are necessary within our communities. We need a place where we can gather in rest and relaxation and Maitland Community Park definitely is a great park. I would definitely recommend here.

The park is long and narrow, well utilizing the limited space it was given. It runs besides high voltage lines and on the other side is residential housing. On this visit, I will say that the park was relatively clean and appeared well maintained. The dog park was temporarily closed on this visit due to health concerns with the COVID-19 virus. The dog park appeared like it would be nice, with two areas, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. The only drawback was that it only had a porta-potty on the property. I am confident that this park serves this community well and again, I was impressed with how the design well used the space that it was given. If you are in the area, I would recommend a visit.
