My husband placed a DoorDash pickup order from Señor Lechon, and when I arrived to pick it up, I stood in line and gave the employee the name for the already-paid order. He then told me I needed to pay for it again. The confusing part is that the receipt clearly showed the order was already paid for through DoorDash. At that point, I left without the food because I honestly thought something was wrong with the order or payment. My husband had to go back inside himself, tell them it was already paid for, and suddenly they handed him the food with no issue. No verification, no checking anything. So why was I told to pay again in the first place? To make matters worse, I ordered a Tripleta sandwich and instead received what was basically a burrito with fries. I have gone there a few times. I really like the ambiance.. inside you see the wall painting and they have an outdoor area with live music. Parking is a nuisance since it's located in a small but busy plaza. Most people park across from the Presidente. The food both times were very disappointing. The food is bland not bold tasting. The waiters were very slow forgetting orders and requests. They can do better. When I can cook better than the restaurant I visit ... I don't want to go back. Ugh drove 48 mins here only to be so disappointed. I was so looking forward to this place and although the waitress was attentive and sweet I was quickly taken back by the cold tasteless food I was served. First the yuca was cold and had absolutely no flavor. I checked the menu again bc I was sure it said garlic flavored. It did. Then I ordered the lechon and both my mother and I took one bite of our dish and was greeted with a cold flavorless piece of meet. Ugh!! She took it back to heat up. Ok now it's hot..still no flavor. The rice was extremely dry with over cooked gandules (see photo for reference) they are suppose to be nice and dark green not black and shriveled up. The rice had no flavor. I started to think maybe I'm sick and lost all my senses? But my mother and my daughter both reassured me that their food also had no flavor. My daughter's friend's chicken was the only thing that had a nice garlic flavor. The tostones were good..thank god I had something to dip it into. The salad was shredded lettuce with a slice of a tomato. So boring. Well I can say I tried it. Didn't like it and won't make the hike here ever again. I rather go all the way to Oakland FL 40 mins south of me to La Loca Empanada. Sorry Eddie from Senor Lechon. Maybe try soaking the pernil longer and steam cooking and watch the rice so it's not over cooked. The red beans also were so watered down..where was the sofrito flavor?!! Now when I read the reviews I was a bit concerned and hope that I was going to have a different experience and I'm GLAD I did! Restaurant was clean the ladies that helped me were very attentive and serviceable. There was no wait to order and I was helped immediately. My food took about 30min to Come out. Absolutely everything I had was delicious. We started with the sorullitos which were sweet and crispy. The bacalaitos were also crispy and delicious. The order of chicharrón was huge with big chunks of seasoned pork with a good amount of fat vs meat. We ordered 2 alcapurrias masa and yucca and they were both good but we enjoyed the masa one better. And a plate for arroz con gandules , pernil and yucca. No seats available but when we got one, we sat down and not one employee acknowledged us. They kept on walking by us, did not even offer us water. Your rice con gandules is bland you need to add more seasoning, sofrito/garlic, etc. are the key ingredients to all Puerto Rican dishes. 2. Pasteles, somewhat bland as well need more seasoning 3. I will also say that, unlike the instagram video we saw online, this place is NOT cooking pigs over coal pits behind the restaurant. We arrived at 3pm, they were out of chicken, they were out of sorullos. I ordered the pork chop clearly listed with 2 sides and were denied the side claiming that particular plate comes with 1. The fee that restaurants pay to the bank gets passed to customers as well, they charge a 4% administrative fee on top of the tip.
