Our family came here on a whim for dinner. Very impressed to say the least! We were greeted and seated right away. Our server was friendly and sociable. He wasn't hovering but still attentive to our table. It is on the smaller side but expected of a restaurant right downtown. Only negative is the seating next to the window. You're leaning on the windowsill which is not too comfortable. Food was delicious! Portions were big! We enjoyed each and every dish. It does have a different authentic touch than other Mexican restaurants in town. Would definitely recommend!

I wasn't expecting to like this place, but I DO and it's WONDERFUL. We wanted to try something old (Mexican, a staple in this household) but something new (a place we'd never been to). This had a lot of positive reviews, so we schlepped downtown and were happy to see it was packed - but not TOO packed so we had to wait for a table. The menu is extensive and we tried several dishes. They have a large seafood section, including a whole fried fish. The enchiladas were tasty, and it's one of the only places in town that offer picadillo. The tortillas are definitely freshly made and hot when they arrive at your table, and the carne asada was some of the most tender stuff I've had in a long time. They have terrific margaritas, and while they are not as Big as your Mama, what they lack in size they do make up for in a better house tequila. We'll be back to try more dishes, because the service was friendly and just the icing on a delicious cake.

Love to visit Senor Lopez's! Cadillac margaritas are the best in town! Learned something new today...if you think your chips need salt, you need to lick the rim

What a great experience! Excellent and super friendly service from Erika. One of the best margaritas ever (top shelf). Both of our meals were fantastic. I had enchiladas suizas. The chicken was moist and the verde sauce was really fresh-tasting! Hubs had the arroz con camarones with fresh tortillas. He loved it. We will definitely be back!! Great date night!

The food is great, drinks are expensive but they have their own twist. Service is good, servers make sure you are able to replace or remove ingredients from your dish based on your preference. Ambiance is okay. It's not very upscale but not bad too. For the food they have, I am happy to compromise on the ambiance.

The service was warm and welcoming. Very lively yet cozy atmosphere. The food hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to here in Bellingham. Reminds me of being back home in L.A.

Came last night and was very impressed with this spot. The space was clean and not too noisy even though they were busy for a Sunday night. We were helped quickly and the service was friendly but rushed as they were pretty full. Margaritas were delicious, we had the classic in a fishbowl glass and then a Senor Lopez Marg that had muddled citrus and was awesome. Food was good and you could tell it was made with fresh ingredients. I loved the fajita salad with steak, I would have just liked a but more salsa/sauce on it as it was a bit on the drier side, but the meat and veggies were tasty.

This time we shared one with each kind of meat offered: chicken, pork and beef. I can't say which I liked more because they all were so awesome as ever. We tried something completely new to us this time: a ceviche called aguachile negro. I Googled it: "Aguachile negro is a bold, spicy Mexican seafood dish featuring raw, butterflied shrimp "cooked" in lime juice, blended with a dark, savory sauce made from roasted chiles, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and Maggi seasoning. Served cold with cucumber and red onion, it offers a deep umami flavor and intense heat, often topped with avocado." I'll say it's hot!!! A heat that grows and fills your whole head. Yet, it was so incredibly delicious I weathered the effects. I am not kidding--I don't think I've had a dish I have loved more. The flavor is fantastic, and when I fished for a little raw prawn and put that thing in my mouth, I just thrilled. We had some of their wonderful guacamole as a starter, and I wish now I had saved some to try with the ceviche--it would have been lovely. I will go back.

I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp entre and they were cooked to perfection in the delicious poblana cream sauce. This sauce hits all the right spots and I absolutely love that they cover their dishes with it. I enjoy dipping my chips in there and creating a nacho with all the fixings. The salsa and guacamole is always incredibly fresh and I love the way they make their chips. Tasty, fresh, perfectly salted, and homemade. The pico that came wild the dish was delicious and I loved that they added mango to it. My friends got enchiladas which are always a great choice and we ordered mojitos which were very fresh too. I love how their drinks are always beautifully made with lovely garnishes and fruits to add color. Very excited to go back and try different drinks and entrees! Absolutely LOVE this authentic Mexican restaurant.

The restaurant seemed to be a house, with plenty of space. Bottled drinks and desserts are in the fridge cooler and to get them ourselves if we want that. I decided on the Mulitas instead of my usual enchilada plate. It's a smaller version with 3 mini size tortilla filled with meat of your choice. I had carnitas, beef and chicken. All were good. Served with beans and rice. My friend had the beef burrito and it was pretty big. She said it was tasty and very filling. It was literally the only meal she had for the day. It seemed to be a family run place and so service was a bit slow. We had to wait a while before someone came out to the counter for us to make payment. There was no bell to alert them. I noticed other customers popping into the kitchen/staff area to get their attention to take order.

You stand in a long line just to get a menu, since there aren't any available beforehand. Once you finally get up there, you might get redirected mid-order like it's some kind of game show. By the time you actually order, you've barely had a second to look at anything. Then you're stuck standing in a crowded area waiting for your drink with no clear place to go, while staff weave around you like you're in the way. I promise, I would love to not be standing there either. Drinks have been underwhelming too. The ranch water was so weak I thought maybe it was just a suggestion of tequila. And then the iPad flips around with a 25 percent tip option, which feels bold considering you're finding your own menu, ordering under pressure, waiting in chaos, and bussing your own table. I want to love this place, but the experience makes it hard to come back.
