This is a nice family business and the food tastes really good. The restaurant is small and simple and sometimes gets very crowded. Service is usually very good except when it slows down too much when they are busy. This is one of the better Mexican restaurants in this area, but limitted paid parking and people sometimes bothering you in an unwelcoming way on the street are the downside. I've had lunch here twice in the last few days. Delicious food, amazing service. I was told the owner starts at 6 am making everything fresh from scratch for that day. Got steak enchiladas and a chicken taco. Both delicious! Lots of food, made with love. Very full after, but mostly just cause it was a lot of food for a small combo, and I'm a bodybuilder so I eat a lot. Lots of flavor without all the extra grease and fat. One small word of caution...they are using a new online order system and their POS service guy didn't do some of the options right, so I would call and confirm the order after you place it. The food was good, the service was very bad. The wait for the food was normal then we got boxes, and waited about 15-20min for the check then another 15-20min for the waiter to get it and give our card back. It was very slow, there was 3 tables other than us and 2 were hers including us and they were waiting also. read more

We went there for a graduation party there were 9 of us the service was fast all the food came out hot and everybody really enjoyed what they ordered. My family and I just tried to have a late lunch at Senior Lopez after the loss of my grandmother. I have never been so shocked at the lack of professionalism and complete disrespect by their server, Nathan. The delayed attentiveness from him wasn't that big of a deal as we weren't in a hurry. However, it should not have offended him, for us to ask for a clean glass, without lipstick on it or asking for cold glasses with ice to replace the melted ones we had, due to the wait for him to return. After a 30 minute ( no exaggeration ) wait for our drinks, his attitude about the situation escalated and ultimately raised his voice at my brother. Nathan was berating him in front of all of us and other patrons. That was the point we decided to leave as we had yet to even order food (after having been there an hour now at this point.) My brother ended up having to pay a $63 check for 3 cocktails and a serving of guacamole that no one had touched nor wanted after being humiliated by our server. Wow! We were blown away with the great food and friendly staff! My kids are big horchata fans and they claimed this to be the best ever - we were told it's made from scratch in house. I'm visiting from Seattle this week and discovered this gem 3 days ago. Had 3 meals so far and the food is delightful - cooked and seasoned just like I experienced in Mexico. The tamales, enchiladas and sides of chips and fresh salsa were great as were the rice & refried beans. We bought a big dinner there tonight for the kids and grandkids - they loved it. Outside dining is available and they have parking in front for takeout orders. This place is great! read more

Our server was Daniela, I think was her name, and she was friendly and pays attentions if you do need something! The food is really good and not to mention they accommodated my request with the pollo la crema instead of chicken, I asked for steak or carne asada and they did it for me! It was very delicious! From the delicious margaritas to the complex and phenomenal flavors of their Molcajete dinner entree (you have to ask for it - not officially on the menu yet - but not to be missed with it's carne asada, pollo asado, housemade chorizo and camarones!) to the outstanding mole sauce on their enchiladas - this restaurant is a phenomenal new addition to the downtown Bellingham dining scene. I was driving to Bellingham to have lunch with my daughter and she only had a 1/2 hr lunch, from 12 to 12:30. So in order to give me time to pick food up and get back to her office to give her time to eat, I had to be able to order lunch for pick up by 11:40 am. I found that a lot of restaurants didn't even open until 11:30, and since I was coming from Mt. Vernon, it was a bit challenging. But Senor Lopez has a an on-line ordering system that gave me the ability to choose side options (sour cream, avocado, etc.), gluten free options (also a requirement), to pay in advance, and it worked perfectly! I ordered 2 tortilla soups, with different options for each of us, it was ready and hot when I got there, packed in a box so that it wouldn't spill, with the tortilla chips on the side so they wouldn't get prematurely soggy, and I just walked in picked it up and left. The soup was delicious, with generous portions (we both had leftovers), and the ease of ordering was greatly appreciated! read more

We ordered a "taco bar" from Senor Lopez restaurant for my daughter's graduation party on 7/1/23. Erica was a huge help in planning the menu - ordered chicken tamales, vegetarian tamales, beef - both steak and hamburger, chicken, 3 types of shells, all the condiments: beans and rice, sour crème, cheese, hot sauces, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cilantro - basically - The works! Every person for our party of 13 was super happy. It was a nice layout on the counter and plenty of food. When my husband picked it up - they had it boxed securely so nothing fell over in the car. And they included these cute little toothpick flags - American & Mexican that the guests went crazy for. Lastly, they included some high quality divided paper plates and napkins which were nice we enough to use. I would recommend using them either eating in or out - it was easy!
