I've only eaten here a couple of times, and I've only had the Adobado Tacos, but my wife and I enjoy the place enough that i wanted to add another 5-Star review. The place is small and quant, and I think the owner might be the sole employee. Either way, the food has arrived fast, and the owner is super cool. I wanted to give this place a nice review because first, it's the Adobado Tacos. Although they are not prepared with Rotisserie style meat cooked next to a flame, they still have the same T.J. street taco vibe big time. Super tasty and pretty fat too! Second, the place has a legit Mexican Food ambience. I have not been to T.J. in many years, but this place, with the Adobado Tacos, brings me back to "Avenida Revolución." It's just a little different from most other 'local' taco shops. This has now become one our favorite spots when we're wandering around downtown. read more

I told him after my tacos were made that I am allergic to something that was automatically included on my taco and I wasnt aware it would be... the worker just shrugged and went in the back and when i called he compared it to ordering at mcdonalds. Mcdonalds has better service, and the meat wasnt even cooked well. It had more vegetables than meat. Terrible service and food. Sorry not sorry but that was disappointing. read more

Small unassuming taco spot on Broadway with one of the cheapest tacos in the area, $3 for a taco and $8 for 3! Tacos are a bit smaller but still flavorful. Friendly service and not really crowded, maybe because it's easy to miss but you definitely shouldn't! read more

We frequently visit this establishment while at work so this was not my first visit. The first time I had the lengua tacos (beef tongue) they were SO good. Next time I shared an ample size of csrne asada fries, so good. Today I had the shrimp plate with rice & beans. Seasoned well but the only disappointment were the beans. Extremely dry. It had to have been a bad day for the cook so everything is worth coming back for. read more

Flavors were good overall. Salsa fresca, sour cream, guac, lettuce, cheese toppings on top of a crispy rolled taco with shredded beef. Beef flavor inside was just okay. Could be seasoned more. Freshly fried. 4/5: Would definitely recommend you to try them! First time having rolled tacos in SD and I'd order these again. Carne Asada Taco: $2.99 Price is good. Beef was seasoned, but the smoky char wasn't there for me. Tortillas were okay, but could've been better. Good toppings on the taco though. It was an okay taco, but I'd try the other ones next time. 3.5/5: I would recommend trying the others to see if they taste better. Side note: They have an every day special for 3 Tacos Carnitas or Suadero for $7.99 that I will try in the future! Overall, give them a try. read more

And most of the other taco places around here dont have salsa bar), I accidentally left my umbrella on the table. Such a gem! It is right off the street and behind a bus stop. We walked by and there were a few people waiting to get takeout and it looks fast and fresh. After a night out at the bar with friends, they wanted to stop here for late night/early morning snack as is tradition. For such a small place there is a variety of food options. I ordered just a churro since I wasn't hungry and I was disappointed, my churro was not crunchy and on the underdone side even though it took a while to come out. There is no AC so in the summer the place was sweltering even late at night, thought there was a long line it moved at a good pace, just not place to really sit down as there are only a few stools and a couple of tables that get filled quick. I advise for the future to just order the tacos with your favorite meat of choice they come out with plenty of filling and satisfyingly hot, the toppings here for the tacos are so good. The location can be a little on the dicey side, as a we were walking here a fist fight broke out on the kitty corner but I was impressed at the fast response of local cops on bicycles and even had a police van there in minutes. read more

A unique Mexican place surrounded by pizza stands that's open late at night. Arriving San Diego late in the evening I found myself feeling hungry. The pizza along fifth street didn't satisfy my hunger so I followed a sign that directed me to tacos. A small hole in the wall kind of place. I was next in line and was stuck in deciding to get rolled tacos or a california burrito. I ordered two drinks (Pina and hibiscus) and two carne Asada tacos. Then I asked the cashier who also happens to be the owner whether I should get a california burrito or rolled tacos. Be mindful it is 1:30 am in the morning surrounded by people consumed by alcohol. The response of the owner/ cashier "are you kidding me!?! Your wasting my time, give me your money!" I was confused at first, I just told the cashier I'll just get the california burrito. The cashier just made a comment "unbelievable, I eat a california burrito every morning! I am not kidding!" At this point I was irritated by the comments of the cashier. The cashier prolly assumed I was a person consumed in alcohol but didn't realize I was sober. My experience in this establishment costumer service was terrible. As for the food. My expertise in Mexican food comes from the varieties of establishments I have tried such as tacos el gordo, Alberto's, albertas, tacos from Mexico, homemade Mexican food from close friends. The carne Asada tacos I'll give it a 4/10 The carne Asada seasoning was okay had a lack in flavor. It didn't have the color when you grill it over a flame. California burrito 5/10 Not the best california burrito I had but if your drunk and hungry and there's no other taco stands around then this will be okay. Guacamole had no flavor or seasoning. Fries was okay, it wasn't to soggy nor too crispy. Carne Asada wasn't the best. Salsa verde seemed to be watered down The pina and hibiscus drink was on point and tasted the same like in any other store. Would I recommend this to friends .... maybe if they were drunk. DELICIOUS almost like I was in TJ ! Felt good to have some tacos very similar to where I came from!

Perhaps I eat here more than I care to admit - but that's because the food is such quality. I remember my first Bean & Cheese burrito from here. Upon my first bite - I noticed that the Beans were not refried.... They were actually Pinto Beans - and in the bean shape no less. Then the discovery of their Spicy Salsa, incredibly spicy but had such a flavor to it. Best of all was the freshness. Well over time, I've since expanded my horizon - starting with the California Burrito: which I always add the Beans to. It is seriously one of the best burritos in San Diego. I also really enjoy the Carne Asada Burrito as well - again add those beans. I've heard from others - that the Pojo Asada Quesadilla is good - but have never had one myself. Do to the addiction that is my love for their Burritos. Overall a very great place to get Mexican food. The service is always great - and everyone is super friendly. First off.... OLE for being open into the wee hours of the night!! Just when I needed you, Senor Taquero! The guy behind the counter was so nice and friendly, really helpful too. I needed a taco or two and I couldn't decide (as usual) so he said I could mix my tacos and get one of each. Well, in that case, I'll have 3 and try all the ones I was curious to try! So, 3 tacos is what I had. Basically that's what my review is about too. Just great service, perfect hours and DELICIOUS tacos!!!! Small little place, so don't plan on going in to get comfy and stay a while. Loads of items on that menu too. I sat down next to a guy and I asked him if he was a regular, he said he'd just moved to San Diego a week ago but that he'd been to Senor Taquero's FOUR times during that week! Whoa! I was so ready to try these tacos after hearing that! Here are the 3 that I tried: ** Birria: which typically are my faves however I've never had beef birria (normally I have the goat) but it was really great beef, he said it's beef shoulder and cooked in the yummy tradiitonal birria style. Very juicy and full of flavor, loved this taco. It was my favorite. :) ** Adobado: I was looking forward to this one the most. Marinated pork with pineapple. Pretty good but a little dry and not a whole lot of flavor. Maybe an off night? ** Shrimp: Loaded with lots of shrimp and a ranchero sauce, pretty Mmmm if you ask me. I'd have this one again too.
