Hands down, whether you're vegan or not, you'll love this place. The food is honestly incredible. The vegan steak had the texture and flavor of actual steak and the chicken was so convincing that even my non-vegan friends were impressed. I'm vegan, but the friends I dined with aren't and every single one of them loved the food. That's probably the biggest compliment a vegan restaurant can get. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed with a spacious layout. We never felt crowded, and the tables were far enough apart that we weren't listening to other people's conversations, which made for a really enjoyable dining experience. The service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and always seemed one step ahead, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. If it's your first visit, I highly recommend ordering the sampler. It's the perfect way to experience a variety of their signature dishes, and you won't regret it. The only thing that didn't completely wow me was the dessert, it was good, but the main dishes are definitely the stars of the menu. Okay, not only is the food phenomenal but this one waiter who single-handledly worked all the tables during the early brunch shift, Jospeh, had us in stitches. I mean, no one wants a server who doesn't have opinions about the food. When you ask "hey what's good here," you don't want someone who just panders with the "everything" answer. You want the truth, and Joseph tells you the real real. We arrived during an imminent downpour and we were seated around 11:30am. I had studied the menu and wondered if it'd be too much food, since I was mindful that my friend had a workout class to get to at 1pm. Also, the restaurant is stunning, and I was excited about this discovery because I can't wait to come back for dinner and cocktails. "Don't worry, I've eaten an entire Thanksgiving meal and then gone for a 10 mile run," my friend said confidently as we sat down to eat the equivalent of a Thanksgiving meal before his SoulCycle class at 1pm. Joseph noted that neither me nor my friend are vegan, and that I don't eat dairy. He made excellent recommendations based on this information. I am not sure his exacting New York humor would be for everyone, but we were delighted. To start, we tried the lamb pockets. Delicious exlosions of flavor, and the sauce was so good that I kept the empty plate on the table so that we could sop up the sauce with the bread. We ordered the beet labneh ("I hate beets and beets shouldn't exist, but I somehow love the beet labneh" said our server.) My friend agreed on both counts after we tasted it, and the fresh hot-out-o-the-oven za'atar pita was absolutely out of this world. The labneh is coconut-based and felt so light and airy. Not a drop left on the plate. My goodness, the pide flatbreads were also stunning. We tried the pastrami one and as someone who cannot eat dairy, I loved the cheese. Vegan cheese can often be a little weird and gummy, but this was perfect. The eggplant and potato moussaka, while our least favorite of the lot, was still solid. The sauce was excellent. Okay and arguably the star of the show for me at least, DESSERT. Joseph claimed that he doesn't have a sweet tooth ("give me a potato chip over dessert any day) and my friend actually also doesn't have a sweet tooth. Also, my friend was leaving soon for his SoulCycle class. I did want to try to Dubai chocolate cheesecake but my friend read my face as I read the description of the medjool date chocolate cake- three kinds of chocolate! The food here left me in awe and I genuinely believe what they've done here is a culinary and scientific achievement due to how realistically meaty everything tastes. I want to be in the kitchen and see how they're creating all these dishes because I'm truly amazed. My friends and I started with the fire roasted eggplant and whipped ricotta dip and they were both delicious. The eggplant dip was sweet and flavorful and I loved the sourness of the lemon. I'm not big on cheese but the more I ate the whipped ricotta, the more I liked it. It had a bit of a crab dip flavor that I actually enjoyed and I really liked the jammy sweetness from the apricot. 4/5 Other mezzes that we tried were the crispy lamb cigars (similar to ground beef and wasn't a crowd favorite, 3.5/5) and the preserved lemon cured tuna (bright, refreshing, and yummy with a seafood flavor that actually didn't gross me out since I'm not a fan of seafood, and I loved the crunch from the pita chips, 4.5/5). We ordered two kabobs--the steak and the merguez. The steak kabobs literally looked and tasted like real steak that had been cooked medium rare. It was incredibly tender and made my jaw drop, 4.5. The merguez (lamb) was really meaty and seasoned well and I loved the spiciness. I preferred the merguez over the steak kabob, 4.5/5. The only entree we tried was the beef mnazaleh which tasted pretty similar to the kabob, just in a different dish. The rice was creamy, moist, juicy, and flavorful, but since we had the kabob first, I wish we had tried a different entree just for variety sake. 3.5/5 Some sides we got were the confit potatoes (yummy with a nice crisp on the outside, but nothing that special) and grilled asparagus (had a slight bitter smokiness that you get from grilling, but I wished it also had the bright sourness if they used lemon). Lastly, we also tried two desserts. The medjool date cake was chocolatey, rich, and cakey, but I wish it was more date focused. I think I would've enjoyed it more if the flavors of fig and dates were utilized more, 3/5. The ekmek kataifi was very cream cheese forward which took me by surprise and I didn't appreciate at first. The service was not great...our waiter had an ego thinking they're all high and mighty because they're a vegan restaurant. We had such a hard time picking what we wanted but thankfully we had a family style brunch so we got to try a lot of different items. The frittata was excellent and was probably our favorite dish of the meal. It came with 2 dips (tahini and hummus) and flatbread. We also got 3 other dips - all three of them were flavorful. My brother, boyfriend (not a vegetarian), and I all came here for dinner one evening while visiting NYC and we were so impressed by the food, we came back for dinner the very next day! First off, the ambience of the restaurant is so cute. From the outside, you would never tell how large and fancy it is inside. This is an elegant, swanky vegan restaurant with gorgeous interior. There were pretty, shimmery paintings and beautiful lighting. The place was almost fully booked on a week night, so my friend and I sat in the bar area. My friend and I shared the Vegan Beef Stew with homemade pita bread on top, as well as the Kachapuri. The stew was wonderfully hearty with mock meat that was tender, well seasoned, and paired perfectly with the chickpeas, along with other vegetables. The pita bread was delightfully crispy and addicting. This came with crunchy, peppered lettuce topped with red onion and radish, which was a surprisingly tasty bite. I wasn't as impressed with the Kachapuri, even though it did actually there was real egg on it. The cheese just didn't have enough pull for me, and wasn't as flavorful as I wanted it to be. The bread it came on was very tasty though. For dessert, I had to try the Date Cake, served with chocolate sauce poured on top. It also came with figs, vanilla ice cream with candied pecans, as well as gold dust. This was absolutely lovely playing. The Date Cake was dense, soft, bursting with true taste of dates, while the chocolate sauce was bold with flavor, indulgent, creamy, and definitely did not taste vegan. The ice cream was made with real vanilla bean, while the pecans added an irresistible crunch and yummy sweetness. The figs were a nice fresh element. Service was solid. Our waiter was welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. We were well taken care of throughout our dinner. Prices are expensive, so I won't be back for awhile. The soy chicken was smoky, lightly seasoned served on velvety creamy rice along with some pomegranate seeds and shaved almonds giving it a nice crunch in between. Loved this special. They also gave us harrisa and spicy sauce in the side. This spicy sauce is made of Aleppo pepper and has such a nice flavor! The service was top notch. They give you all the attention and are mindful of your dietary needs. Taking off one star as it is quite pricey so cannot be a regular. But worth visiting on a special occasions. read more

The food here is amazing! I've been a vegetarian for 12 years and this is hands down the best vegan food I've ever had. We had great service the first couple of times but this past visit left a bad taste in our mouth. We were celebrating a birthday, we marked it on the reservation. When we arrived they placed a "Happy Birthday" card on our table. Our waiter made no mention of it, 4 or 5 tables around us were celebrating birthdays that evening, those tables all had a small birthday dessert with a candle. We were never told happy birthday and we certainly did not get a dessert or candle. A bit awkward. We celebrated another birthday at Anixi last year so we know how they usually do it. Our waiter was absent most of the evening. He checked in a couple of times but his service was extremely slow, waited a while to be greeted, waited to order, left drinks empty, etc. We spent $300 on dinner and drinks and were looking forward to celebrating a birthday at Anixi and it definitely fell short which is a bummer. Normally, I'd start with the food -- but the server was really the best I've seen in forever. His name was Joseph - and he took the time to review the menu with me to say what was gluten-free and then shared details of the ingredients with my cousins. The restaurant was busy, but our food came out quickly and we were very full by the end. We tried to order a variety of different things though all of felt the "chicken" kabobs were the best and we ended up getting a second order because all of us loved them. The spreads in the beginning were tasty though I didn't get any pics as we ate them so quickly! Went here for Valentine's day in 2024. We were able to walk from our hotel, which was a nice convenience. We did have a little wait when we showed up right on time for our reservation, but that was very minimal. The place was gorgeous!The vibes were absolutely romantic. The place was very dimly lit, definitely noticeably. The servers were very attentive. We ordered a couple things and a couple drinks each. Everything was divine. It is a bit pricey for what you get, but they have creative dishes. It's all plant-based and they make the most of it. We ordered the 3 Dip Mezze. One of the dips was the Fire Roasted Eggplant and it was delicious! Another was the Whipped Ricotta, the apricots in this were a complimentary flavor to everything else in this dip. The other dip, Taramasalata, was delectable. Had a similar flavor profile to the Whipped Ricotta. The bread was nice, but I wish it came with more. I believe we gad the layered her bread. The menu is full blown Mediterranean with a range of imitation meat recipes & uniquely vegan ones. Most of the items we tried- taramalasata with orange caviar, za'atar pita, chicken kabob, chicken gyro wraps, and lamb cigars were pretty good. I would probably avoid gyro as it felt more like a chimichanga. The mejdool date cake was outstanding- a must try! Service was lackluster. They cleared tables before finishing, served all items together and packed it on our tiny table, did not make up for the sloppy service in any way. Brilliant Vegan restaurant with excellent vegan protein that were the closet we have had resembling meat dishes. Was so good that the carnivores in our group of 8 (6 of them ) were back after a week. They loved the grilled lamb and chicken dishes and the well made side dishes. It's on the $$$ price range but worth every penny. Superb service and staff that were well informed and recommended just the right dishes from menu. We had A) Taramasalata 7/10 B) whipped Riccota 8/10 C) BeefDolmas 6/10. The layered herbed bread. What a freaking treat! The bread also stays pretty good hours later when you need a snack for the train ride home. This Mediterranean spot is perfect for those who follow a vegan diet. We popped in for a quick and small bite prior to a bigger event and I was blown away. First, the dim lit dining room makes this restaurant perfect for a date night. Also the "mezze" is perfect for sharing and comes with either 3 or 5 dips. The fire roasted eggplant with pomegranate was out of this world. I almost licked the dish. Finally, Joy was our server and she was a delight.
