Oh man! What wasn't amazing?! The crab Rangoon has more crab than cream cheese and that is rare to come by in Pittsburgh. The crispy rolls were delicious and definitely the right amount of crispy. I had chicken panang curry that was so delicious. I made the mistake of asking for it a little spicier than I normally do with Thai but it was so delicious I didn't even want to take the time to send it back. My mistake, after all. The place is small so I imagine reservations on busier nights would be strongly encouraged (we went on a Tuesday night and were seated right away). My favorite Thai food place hands down! I was looking craving Thai food on a Saturday night and was thinking Noodle head but the line there was ridiculously long. So I was looking around for an alternative and stumbled upon this gem! It's a cute little place on Ellsworth. We sat outside in a perfect weather. Our waitress her name was Audrey I believe was super sweet and knowledgeable about the menu choices. We got green curry and red curry with Thai Iced tea. Everything was the way we wanted it to be. The sauce was so creamy , the vegetables were fresh and cooked to perfection, and spice level was satisfying! The tea was so flavorful and refreshing. Also the prices are reasonable. Love to visit this tiny eatery with its outside patio, when I'm in town. My favorite dish is the crab curry, a delicious blend of crab, kale and coconut milk. Perfect for rainy or cold days when your feeling run down. As with most items on their menu, You can choose the degree of spiciness your pallet will allow. This was one of my go to Thai restaurants in Pittsburgh. We had our reservation at 8:30pm When we walked in at 8:30, even before we were seated we were told "kitchen closes in 10 minutes you have to hurry up". We were a party of four and not only were we rushed through the ordering process, but half way into our meal we were asked "what do you want for dessert". Yes we felt rushed. I am physically sitting on my bed at Springhill Suites in Bakery Square - but this red curry has transported me to Chiang Mai. I'm not sure how they delivered my dinner from the literal other side of the globe in 42 minutes. I just know for certain that this food could not have been made in the United States. First time visiting this gem tonight. Decor was modern, nice cozy spot. Entree was great, appetizer extremely salty. I ordered the KRA TONG THONG - which came in a nice shell, giving the meat and vegetable mixture some texture but as I told the lady who walked up at the end, it was unrealistically salty. My girlfriend ordered Prad Prik King which was very good and I ordered the Panang Salmon, which was very rich and creamy. My boyfriend's first experience with Thai food. He loved it! And so did I. We had the steamed dumplings, Pad See Ew, and Red Curry with chicken and shrimp. I've been fighting a sinus infection so I ordered the spiciest curry I could and it definitely helped! (I like very spicy) We also used uber eats no contact delivery. I certainly won't be back. I came here on Saturday night with a party of 2 without a reservation. I didn't know that's how they primarily do their seating, which is totally fine, just make it clear that you won't be accommodating to walk in parties. The gentleman was very nice at first and told me there was a table clearing up in about 10 minutes in the back hallway and he could seat me when they left; he took my name and phone number. I had no problem waiting, but after about 25 minutes I went back to the host stand and when I finally got someone's attention I asked how much longer it was going to be and they seemed totally surprised--like they had thought I left and had no intentions of seating me or even attempting to. I strongly believe this because my name had been crossed off their list. They suddenly had a table for us, but as we were being seated the hostess informed us "we need this table by 8:30." Very welcoming. So after we were put on a clock it took nearly 10 minutes for someone to come over to us to get water and another 5 to order. Then the real fun began. After 35 minutes of waiting for our food our waiter came over and apologized because things in the kitchen were taking longer than normal. Another 5 minutes and as we were looking around the room another man asked if we needed something and we said we were just waiting for our food. He then went on to tell us that the kitchen had gotten slammed with a rush of people coming in and mobile orders, just completely dodging any kind of blame. I completely understand that, it was Saturday night and this is not my first experience at a restaurant. HOWEVER, at least 2 other tables that I could see that had been seated after us were happily enjoying their meals. So, certainly not the best lie I've ever heard. All in all, we waited 45 minutes for our food. The food was fine. It's hard to tell if it was genuinely ok because it was or if it was fine just because I was so hungry at that point. Honestly, the service was more than enough to not come back. I've never been told that I need to be out of my table by a certain time. If it's so pressing that you need the table, then don't seat me there with a countdown over my forehead. We were also there long enough to see that the staff hovers over tables when they've been there too long to get them to leave. There's plenty of thai restaurants in Pittsburgh that sell the same quality of food, for a lot less, where you feel a lot more welcomed. This was my first and my LAST time here. read more

Really enjoyed this place. The crab curry and salmon panang curry were both excellent. We asked for both hot and they were reasonably spicy -- not as hot as I would prefer, but close enough. The curries were both very tasty and the fish in each was nicely cooked. Will definitely return at the next opportunity. read more

I am very sorry to have give senyai two stars because the food is quite good. However, the kitchen is disorganized and in general the wait staff is over worked so they appear to ignore everyone. We waited over 45 minutes between our appetizer and our main course. Not great, but repairable with a simple apology - particularly since the food was above par. However, there was no apology - just an excuse. Ok. I get it, they are overworked. So, at the end of the meal I asked to speak to the manager and after a minute our waiter came back and said the manager wouldn't speak to us. Really? I think they need to be a bit more attentive to their customers before I venture back. read more

Very nicely renovated place with friendly service and great food. We enjoyed dinner here with orders of the Pad Medmamuang and Pad Thai, both of which were quite delicious, and one order of the sticky rice mango which was fantastic. Unfortunately I don't have much experience with Thai food so my descriptions are somewhat lacking, but if you're looking for all-around solid and decent grub this place should be able to more than provide. Am visiting Pittsburgh for a week and this place was within walking distance from my hotel. What a gem of a place. Charming, quiet, impeccably clean, the service is very attentive and helpful and the food is . . . Oh my, the food is amazing! I had two of their specials for dinner - Mango Salad and Penang Curry with Tempura Shrimp. Both were crazy delicious! Just the right amount of spice (mild for the salad and medium for the curry). The food here is so delicious! I ordered take out - massaman curry and iced Thai green tea. The restaurant is so beautiful inside! The hostess who gave me my food was incredibly nice and welcoming. I will definitely return to sit down for a nice meal. The flavor of the curry was so wonderful, I ordered medium and probably will go for spicy next time. It was so rich and flavorful. The best massaman curry I've had since I studied abroad in Thailand. I ate every bite and I have a small appetite so I think the portion sizes could be bigger especially considering the price. There are several Thai restaurants within a mile of Senyai. Most of them good. Senyai is better. The menu is more diverse. The food tastes better. The ingredients seem to be fresher and of a higher quality. The front dining room is nice, light filled and comfortable. There is an outdoor side porch which is just great. The staff are attentive and work together. There is no one thing that is amazing or fantastic. But it all works and is civil and respectful and you are glad that you came. Costs a little more so maybe not everytime. Reservations are offered and can be a good idea. read more

I hate to admit it but the pad Thai here is bomb. Why do I hate to admit it? Because I paid $16 for a shrimp pad Thai! What the actual fork?! Im from the bay area were pad Thais go for roughly $10....I never in my mind thought I would pay this much for a pad Thai! got the order to go and much to my dismay, the portion was small compared to the amount I paid for (it was not even half of the to go container). If you're going to charge this much, at least add a bit more noodles! That being said, there were 5 large very fresh shrimp (slightly overcooked) which elevated the quality of the dish. We have been to this restaurant many times but for the price they charge the food quantity is very very small. This time they filled our curry with eggplant and very little to no other vegetables. Senyai Thai has really incredibly tasty food with a range of flavors, textures and freshness that are welcome, especially on hot summer days. The interior is modern and well laid out, though as a girl with big hips I did wish they had some chairs without arms or a bench seat available. Everything was brightly lit and clean, and the servers were super friendly. While I know that butterfly pea blossom tea isn't specifically Thai, the color appeal of purple lemonade (which changes to fuchsia or blue based on acidity) was a delight. Their tofu with ginger and basil was delicious and not greasy at all, and not afraid of a bit of spice (ordered a level 3, so there were pepper seeds and flakes in there). I'm thrilled to get to try this place, and look forward to coming back another time. read more

I was really excited to try this since there aren't many Thai options in the area. We went for dinner for two one weeknight evening and were seated immediately. The space is intimate, though a bit loud--the restaurant is mostly hard surfaces, so the noise just sort of bounces around. The staff were great. Attentive and friendly. Can't ask for much more than that for a casual evening out! The food was overall quite good. My biggest complaint was that I ordered a dish with the maximum spice level and our waitress acted shocked that anyone would do that. When it arrived, it was extremely mild. I'm wondering if it was a kitchen error. No biggie, though, because it was still tasty. Overall I would recommend Senyai for a nice little evening out. read more

The food was good but a bit pricier than other Thai restaurants in the area. I ordered the crab and kale curry - very tasty but could have had more crab meat and kale for the price. My friend ordered a chicken dish with vegetables. It was tasty and a decent portion size, but not mind blowing. I was a bit disappointed that there were no lunch specials. I ended up paying $24 with tip for my crab curry, which I think is pricey for a lunch meal. Service was decent - there was one waitress who was also the hostess, she wasn't super enthusiastic but got the job done. Otherwise, I would give this place a try. They have some very vegetable focused dishes which I appreciate. Might be a good idea to make a reservation for dinner or on a weekend as the place is small. read more
