It was my brother's wedding day, and I was hoping to walk in somewhere...anywhere...and get my makeup done. Not only did this location open earlier than any other Sephora location in OC (except Downtown Disney - but I wasn't driving up that way) they helped me with a walk in. On Labor Day!! Arlene took my call, gave me the info to come in, and followed up with me throughout my appt to help grab the products I wanted to take with me to the wedding. Her hairspray suggestion for the ocean air humidity was spot on! Not a frizz in sight and my curls lasted all night. Anna did my makeup and WOW she knocked it out of the park. She listened to what I wanted, made suggestions based on my request for camera flash friendly, but waterproof (because I wasn't crying, you're crying, during the ceremony) and took time to tell me what she was doing all throughout the process. She used the best products. She got me out of there and on my way very smoothly and as quickly as possible. I was able to pay in a flash for the service and the girls had everything ready for me to dash out the door. She was extremely helpful and polished and I was so happy I went in to see these girls. Not only did she go to great lengths to help me and my boyfriend, she approached my boyfriend and me while we were just browsing. She made some great recommendations for retinols and she seemed like she understood my questions and what I had to say. She also had my boyfriend get in on the experience too! Here's what happened. My wife shops at the Irvine Spectrum Center Sephora often and she likes the products there. On the rare occasions she complains it is usually about the quality of the service in the store. Today she was understandably upset because she tried one of the products there, I'm not sure what it was, but it was a glass jar whose lid was loose and it ended up falling to the floor, shattering and whatever was inside splashed all over her skirt and shoes, staining both. I would expect the employees to be sympathetic to her plight instead of blaming her and asking her to get out of the way while they cleaned up 'her mess'. When she asked for a tissue or something she could use to attempt to dry her skirt, they pointed and said, "They are over there." Over where? She exited the store with the strong odor of the product on her (it did smell pretty good) and her skirt and shoes were obviously stained. I went in with her to see what the manager might do to help. A kind word and even an apology would have been greatly appreciated. There were probably ten people in there apparently not very busy at the moment, and I checked the area where the jar broke. The floor was still dangerously slippery and there was nothing there to warn customers. Fortunately for them I'm not the type to 'slip and fall' and then contact a Personal Injury attorney. I do know one who could have turned that into at least a six figure train wreck with breaking a sweat. Trust me, a little understanding and a kind word can save a lot of trouble later. The shelf was cluttered and those jars were all very slippery, and none of the lids were properly attached. I had to ask three different people if I could talk to a manager before I finally found one myself. She was similarly uninterested. She offered to fill out some sort of incident report which we did. When I tried to talk to her about the way the glass bottles are displayed, she told me that there are a lot of customers who test products and they expect customers to be careful. Is it really asking too much to expect them to keep a clean and safe shop and treat customers with respect when an incident like this occurs? read more

I have to say the inventory of higher end items here is limited beyond compared to Mission, Laguna Niguel, or South Coast Plaza locations. I came here on a Friday night, and Sephora was packed with a wide range of customers from the teeny boppers, all the way to the grandmas. No hate. I came looking for Dior, Gucci and other brand items for makeup and Moroccan Oil for hair care and again found myself with the answers of "Sorry we don't carry it here" but we have "Huda Beauty" or some other brand I have not even heard of. No Dyson items either. Your best bet is either avoid coming here altogether if you are looking for higher end stuff, or find Trish T who was awesome at helping me at least laugh and find alternatives that may work for what I was looking for. Although not the brand name, still something comparable so the trip wouldn't feel like a total dud. The customer service is pleasant, even if its a busy store. Its hit or miss. They close at 10pm, and Rewards inventory on hand also extremely limited or non-existent. A positive note from the recent experience is that Trish was able to help me use my app to use my points 500 to take $10 off my total. ALL IN ALL, customer service today was good, inventory and accessibility of items 2 thumbs down. read more

I've been in here a handful of times and today was the most exceptional experience I've had. Ana was assigned to help me and she was FANTASTIC! I wanted to exchange a foundation with a better shade and I'm talking with her and asking her questions, she recommended something that actually matched what I was looking for in a foundation. She gave me two options and what was impressive is she code the right color for my skin from each line. That's never happened! She knows her stuff! I decided to inquire about eyebrows as that's something I've never been successful with finding the right product. She chose the right shade immediately and showed me how to apply. The staff isn't friendly at all when it comes to returns. I explained I couldn't use a product because of a horrible allergic reaction and they had no remorse and said I couldn't exchange it or get credit because of policy. I don't believe that is the case because management always has access to override. It's poor customer service for something I had no control over it. The manager wasn't nice at all when speaking to me. And the store is always a mess and never clean/ organized. The product was not carried in this particular store, but instead of checking the system, which would take a minute, she just said to look online yourself and find which store has it. I called the Tustin location to check before driving their, and they also didn't carry it, but the individual was kind enough to look into the system, which took 1 minute, and told me south coast plaza had it. I had a bad experience at the Sephora at the El Camino Real in Tustin. The manager (Johanna) was so rude and unprofessional. The employees there are not knowledgeable and most of the employees DONT WEAR MASKS!!!! BUT, this Sephora at the Irvine Spectrum are knowledgeable and the employees know THEIR STUFF!!! Also, they have a better selection. I spoke with a Sephora employee in regard to a product I was interested in and explain to me the pros and cons. To add the cherry on top every Sephora at this store asked me if they can assist me with anything. Something that you don't see at other Sephora. Honestly, I will becoming back to this location because of the amazing customer services and how they follow the rule in wearing masks at all time. I wanted to rate this 4 starts because of the wait and lack of good sales but I can't forget that the corona situation is not in sephora's control. I tried some of the NudeStix products and have absolutely fallen in love with many of them. The peptide leap treatment is absolutely incredible, it is not too sticky nor too thin. The consistency is perfect and it stays on my lips for a really long time, which I love. I also really enjoy the collection of blushes; they are easy to use and add the perfect touch of color to my low maintenance makeup routine. Lastly, form the NudeBody collection, I am obsessed with the body toner and the body cream. (If you don't have it yet... run, don't walk!). I have never before had a body toner and let me tell you, it is incredible. I used to suffer with mild back acne and this toner has completely gotten rid of any skin blemishes. I finish off the treatment with the body cream and they pair perfectly together. The quality of the ingredients is very high, and it is easily felt. I was really disappointed with my visit to Sephora this week. Typically the sales reps are very good at directing me to the product I need help with and I walk out happy. Definitely not this time. I went in looking for a long wear lip color (think lip stains of old) and the sales rep seemed lost... She kept me in the Nars and Dior sections and I just don't think she knew what other suggestions to make... Usually the sales reps are familiar with the inventory and are so helpful, and dare I say - personable. This rep was just punching a clock I also think she handed me the wrong shade as what I tested was red but what I'm wearing is more orange. I honestly haven't had the best experience with staff members at this location but I had an issue with my rewards on my account so I went into the store and was told to call a number they provided, the number I called said it could only be fixed in store so I went in again and was helped out by Selena. She was extremely sweet and had issues with my request however she was able to fix everything I came in for and even called me two days later to confirm everything was fixed.
