My daughter purchased a bottle of Nars foundation at this store. While we were on vacation out of the country when she removed the cap the entire dispensing mechanism came with it. We tried to reassemble it but were unable to do so. She had used about 10% of the product when it became unusable. By the time we had returned to the US and were able to go to Sephora we were told that because it was beyond 60 days there was, "Unfortunately, nothing we can do." It's extremely disappointing that a company won't stand behind a product it sells and clearly Sephora could choose to replace the product. This seems like a very poor policy in the face of competition in the market. I would recommend buying elsewhere. read more

First off I would like to say that I love Sephora and have been going to many Sephora stores for many many years. However at this location, I was treated by an overly aggressive employee which made my experience horrible. I have always given at least 5 star reviews to a lot of places I have been but this location's one employee is disappointing. When I entered the store, I was greeted nicely and then one employee came to me and asked if I needed help. I replied no thank you and would like to take my time looking at the different samples. Then after 2 minutes she came back and asked me again and I still answered no thank you. She must have come up to me at least 5 times in less than 30 minutes which was still okay to me because she is is just making sure I am okay. Then I finally picked 3 items and was standing in line ready to pay. While in line behind 4 people, she came up to me and said I see you chose your items. She said make sure to tell the cashier that "Bobby" helped you. Then she proceeded to say again Bobby helped you okay tell them that Bobby helped you. She said her name 3 times as if I would forget. Then I noticed that since she was not the cashier she asked to do the cashiering when it came to my turn to check me out. So I did not get a chance to say who did not help me because Bobby checked me out herself. Please retrain your employees customer service to make them feel welcome. I'm also not surprised since there are other reviews with the same employee complaint. read more

This is usually my go to store full of sweet employees and easy in and out. I had a terrible customer service experience tonight when I tried to exchange a defective deodorant. I have purchased 5 of this particular deodorant and two of them have broken off at the base after little use. The first one I just threw away but the second time I decided to exchange. The manager would not take it back, said it was my fault and not a manufacturer defect. I spend thousands of dollars at Sephora, have the credit card, and I am a loyal customer. It takes a lot to make me angry and I'm furious. They wouldn't exchange a 16 dollar deodorant that is clearly defective. Do better. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would, I am not in the habit of giving bad reviews, it is a rare instance that I do this as I do not hold one store responsible for the bad behavior of 1 employee however, training is essential and this caused me great bodily harm. I went into the store asking for assistance in buying a lip balm with SPF. I was very clear how important this was to me as I had just had surgery and needed Full sun protection. Their alleged specialist sold me their brand of lipbalm, (Sephora watermelon) , I trusted the recommendation only to have gotten severe Burns on my lips from a day in the sun which resulted in weeks long treatments including antibiotics and very painful burn treatments. If you choose to shop here, know what you are buying because their sales staff is uneducated and all too quick to lie to make a sale. SHOP AT YOUR OWN RISK I will never shop here again! read more

Horrible experience today and I've been shopping here for over a year. The mask police were in full force and refused to serve me...mind you the mandate is lifting tomorrow. They literally told me to come back in a day (because apparently then it's "safe"). Then, the manager refused to give me her name after I informed her that she was breaking the law by not serving me (it's a place of public accommodation therefore they can make their own rules as a privately owned business, however those rules cannot break laws and this absolutely does as it's discriminatory). Sephora knows they're breaking the law so if that matters to you, you might want to find an alternative place to shop. read more

Today, for the first time, my friend and I went to Sephora in Laguna Niguel, and there were 2 employees who made us feel uncomfortable. The one who is about 60 years old looked at us from head to toe, but with a look as if we couldn't afford to buy any product and we were to steal something, and she asked us like 3 times if she could help us with something, until I asked her if they had the Sturm products and she said NO and immediately turned around and left, the second time a tall young woman I wanted to ask her if They had a lipstick in inventory that I wanted but I couldn't find it and with a bad attitude she told me that I had to wait a moment, when she came back to help me she told my friend "excuse me" but my friend didn't listen to her because she was focused trying to find another product and the employee asked again but again with a BAD ATTITUDE, on the other hand the blonde girl at the register was very kind and helpful, she treated us well and with a smile. This is the BEST sephora location I've ever been too in all of orange county. They truly have a good team here that is ready to help any customer that goes through the store. Whether you have questions or need help finding something, the staff has no hesitation to help AND actually spend time with YOU instead of rushing which is what I find a big issue at other sephoras, so I've always been a quiet shopper. The ladies here have no issue accommodating to your worries and questions. I had Amanda help me out big time and she took a solid 20 minutes helping me which is something so refreshing at makeup stores since you can be intimidated. There is limited selection here for products as it isn't a large sephora, so call ahead if they have a certain collection there before driving out. read more

Very small store, to begin with and an even smaller staff. I went in on a Saturday morning and not only was it small as I mentioned but there were no employees to be found. I knew what I came in for luckily, grabbed it & headed to the counter where I waited for a good 4-5 minutes without anyone greeting me/telling me they would help me out - and I literally made eye contact with an employee but anywho it just goes to show if you aren't walking into the place with entailment and demand you won't get attended correctly in this plaza including Sephora. The funny part is I didn't get help until this little girl mentioned to me that no one had been up there at the counter since she got there and out of no where someone appeared! She just made me have the most awful experience at that location , everything from cutting me off to chat with other employees that worked there to completely ignoring my question to the occasional attitude during the short conversation. Went to this location this past Thursday and the employees were not kind. When I walked in the first thing the greeter at the door asked me as I opened the door was "What's the reason for your visit at our store?" With a non-welcoming tone. -I was a little shocked that, that question was asked to me vs. Simply welcoming me in and introducing me to their new collections or simply asking how I was doing after a generic hello welcome. I grabbed a basket because I came to the store with a purpose to buy my foundation & purchase little gifts for the holidays. NO ONE suggested anything to me. NO ONE said hi to me as I walked around the store for about 10 mins. The 4-5 employees who were at the store just starred at me as I tried to shop. At one point an employee almost bumped in to me as I turned a corner to head towards the register and all she was was "shoot, my bad" I found a couple goodies that I really wanted to purchase but I decided not to buy them because of the way the employees made me feel at this store. I only purchased 1 item (because I REALLY NEEDED IT) and the old woman ( Bobbi ) made my check out experience awful. When she asked me for my phone number for my Sephora points & I provided her with a phone number and then made a comment about how I wanted to give my sister points for my purchases, Bobbi stopped typing and responded with a "No, I'll create your account" -I informed her that I didn't want one because I wanted my sister to benefit from the points and freebies that come along with the account. Bobbi rolled her eyes and responded with a "look, my job is just to ask everyone at checkout" Overall not a great Sephora experience. read more

Bea is a makeup goddess. I hardly recognized myself when she was finished, in the best way possible. My skin looked flawless and my makeup stayed on all night. Staff here sucks! They treat you like you're a criminal. My boyfriend and I were waiting outside to get into the store due to covid restrictions. The Sephora associate that was sitting outside (in charge of the capacity) asked what I was shopping for. We started talking about the Tatcha line. As my bf and I entered the store, we missed the Tatcha section and a blonde associate approached us asking, "Are you guys looking for Tatcha? It's over here" and pointed to where it was at. Like how did she even know we were looking for it?! We stayed at the Tatcha section for less than 5 mins and the same blonde girl walked right pass us watching... as if she wasn't making it obvious enough. THEN, 10 seconds later, another associate walked over to see what we were doing. Even as we walked up to the register to purchase; the same blonde associate followed us through check out pretending she was doing something at the register. If I wasn't so desperate for a facial cleanser, I wouldn't have bought anything and left. So don't come here unless you want to be targeted especially if you're a minority. I purchased over 100.00 in products. When I opened the compact powder it was shattered. The powder was all over the outside of the compact case, and spilled out as I opened to a bronze mess. Update : manager emailed me and invited me back in to give them another shot. When there, I received a completely different experience- as well as assured that customer service was stressed to all employees to make sure no one ever had the same experience that I did. This time, I had Jarel work with me to figure out what was the best approach I needed for my skin. She took time to discuss the products she used and what they did for me. Super attentive and helpful. --- Its a hard NO for me. I went to this branch specifically looking for a gift for a friend. While there, I decided to check out some little pre birthday gifts for myself too so I asked an associate to help me find some creams appropriate for my needs. I was taken aback when I had asked if some creams I was interested in were okay to use under my eyes - and she retorted - "if it doesn't say eyes on it, don't use it on your eyes, it's simple". I was totally embarrassed about my apparently idiotic question. Or at least that how her response made me feel. Isn't that why we non perfect ordinary people are when we walk in to a Sephora where everyone looks like a princess with their flawless make up? I almost walked out. I did ask for a suggestion for cream under my eyes - and similar responses when I asked about other products under the label she was recommending. I really felt stupid. I sent in my review on the receipt and the manager emailed me but then she never followed up with me. Maybe my business isn't that important since I don't know enough about what I am buying. I just moved to mission viejo from West Hollywood and was so excited to have a Sephora in a convenient location where I run other errands, like grocery shopping. I thought for sure this would be my go to make up stop. After picking up some groceries at Whole Foods today I decided to stop by Sephora to treat myself. The literal, actual moment I stepped into the store I was met with alarmist energy. A blonde woman frantically asked me what I shopping for. I've been to many other Sephora's and have never been greeted so awkwardly. I told her I was in for mascara. Again w the frantic energy, she asked me what brand. I told her "milk." She explained where it was. I found it within 30 seconds. I was at the milk section for under 5 minutes just wanting peruse other items and pick up a few more things after finding my fave mascara. Within that time at least 3 different women approached me awkwardly making up the most random and misplaced talking points. I used to work in high end retail and the behavior they exhibited would have never been considered acceptable. The weirdest part was at at least one point while one was talking to me another was watching. I was treated like a shop lifter for wearing an over sized sweatshirt and yoga pants. Maybe bc I had my Whole Foods shopping bag with me?? The cashier was kind and helpful, especially when I told her how I was being treated. read more

They aren't discreet about it either, as I think they intend to be. I normally would rather drive to the spectrum instead of dealing with those ladies. This is by far the best Sephora. Honestly, I feel like I have won the jackpot to call this location, my neighborhood Sephora! This past weekend, I booked a makeup appointment for a Full Face makeover. I was assigned to the kind and talented makeup artist, Jarel; who got me ready. She had the perfect bedside manner to feel extra confident and excited for a friend's wedding. She did an amazing job, and made the whole experience an insightful one with displaying each step and product. In addition, the makeover experience felt relaxing versus when getting my makeup done at a makeup counter department store; which I had done in the past and had felt overwhelmed with customer interruptions and being pushed to product(s) purchase. Overall, the store has always maintained warm and enthusiastic greeting when entering and exiting the store with genuine smiles from the staff. It's always a pleasurable shopping experience. I feel at ease when I shop at this location because there never seems to be complete chaos of mall shopper crowds or distracted employees too busy to assist when needing assistance on product or service knowledge. A few weeks ago, I had a very minor issue with an order I placed for store pickup. When I called the store, the person I spoke to was very understanding and fixed the situation. When I went back to get my additional product, there was a little goodie bag waiting for me. Excellent customer service from everyone I encountered at this location. I know people are tense and probably losing their manners right now and add having to wear a mask and sanitize everything every 5 seconds, I wouldn't blame the employees for not being so gracious. Stopped into this location with my gf to grab a couple of items she needed. As soon as we walked into the store we were greeted. And asked if there was anything we needed help finding? The girl at the door was extremely friendly and polite, my gf let her know what products she needed to purchase. She led us to the isle and upon getting to the isle an older blonde woman asked if we had masks? We said we did not and didn't think much of it. As we were looking at the products a young female came over and offered us masks. We took them and continued to look at the items. As we were looking the woman than came around again and asked that we out there masks on asap. At that point I just let my gf know that I wasn't going to spend money at this location. For some reason some individuals like to take it upon themselves. To try to enforce things that no one cares about anymore. Moreover we are in a location where people are literally getting their makeup done while in the store. So the masks don't make any sense regardless no matter how you try to justify them. Both my husband and I shop at Sephora. We were excited to see this store open. Well, they don't carry any of the MEN'S products only cologne. Really!!!! We will just go to the Mission Viejo mall which is further away but at least they carry men's facial care there. The customer service here exceeds expectations! I called to make an appointment for a full face of make up and unfortunately, because they had just opened, did not have the capability at that time. I wish I could remember who I spoke to, because she took down my number in case anything changed. Now I will say that I forgot about this because most of the time people don't follow up. A few days later she called me back and although they were still unable to do it, she explained I could have one part of the face done and told me when they were able to start taking appointments for full face. So happy I don't have to go to the mall in order to go to Sephora! Also, because this location is more quiet than others it allows for a more personalized shopping experience. This Sephora really is my favorite location. It's a bit more on the smaller side, but they do carry the majority of their best selling brands and I enjoy it because it's quieter and I'm able to shop around without having to squeeze through other customers around every gondola in every aisle. They've had a great amount of items in stock every single time I've been in too. The ladies that work here are also super sweet, friendly, knowledgeable, and always throw in a few samples for me with every purchase. I was excited to see that this location would be opening soon and I just so happened to drive by earlier in the day after a Whole Foods run... and saw it was now open!! So of course I had to drop by and check it out. All the ladies were super sweet and offered to assist with anything I needed. A special shout-out to Jasmine who helped me with some amazing fragrance selections after I described to her the types of fragrances I prefer. This Sephora is located in a plaza, not a shopping mall, so I think some of the reviews about this location not having enough products is unfair. I am so excited about the Aliso Village location of Sephora opening! I previously ordered online because of the inconvenience of not having an easily accessible location available to me that I could quickly park at and go in and out of without feeling stuck to remain in the store like I often do at the Mission Viejo mall. Each time I visit, I am always greeted with a contagious joyful nature and assisted with the location of what I'm looking for, which aids my desire to make it a quick errand. I'm so thankful for the kindness, helpfulness and guidance of the employees at this location. In particular, Natalie went above and beyond to make my experience so easy. She was thoughtful, present, intuitive and so helpful with my needs. From greeting to guiding to the desired product, editing my beauty insider account to my preference and checking me out - the entire process was so efficient and streamlined because of her expertise. She is incredible in her role and I am so thankful for her presence at this store location! The only recommendation I would have is to add employees names to the receipt for post visit reference. After a great experience, I called the store to get Natalie's name when I realized I forgot to look at her name tag when in store. Everyone here is always so sweet and set apart in their giftings and they should have every opportunity to be acknowledged by name in reviews! read more
