I'm not one to write negative reviews especially with makeup because it's my happy place but today I had the worst experience in the Sephora @ the Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks. I was there for a 12:30 appointment. As soon as I got there no one acknowledged me, it took them about 10 minutes before they saw me and checked me in. When they told me to "go over there" to sit down, I knew it wasn't going to turn out well. The MUA came and immediately told me, that now the Rouges either buy the 50 dollar min. Or get the 4 annually services. I asked her why I wasn't told about this when I've been shopping here for years. And very condescending she said "well I'm one of the service managers here and it's my job to tell you." I then told her "it's fine, I always purchase something anyways." She then asked what I wanted done and I told her...which I don't think was anything complex and she said "I only have one hour and I don't think I can do the contour, the highlight." I told her "I always ask for this and it's never been an issue" and she responded with "I only have one hour...you'll have contour but it's not going to be structured contour" WTF? Even the MUA next to her looked at her like "are you seriously saying that to the client?" When she went to go get the products, I called the Lancôme nearby and luckily they took me! When she came back, I just grabbed my stuff and told her "never mind" On my way to Lancôme I called Sephora customer service to share my horrible experience, I just wished I would've taken the "service manager" name. What kind of service manager are you, if you are not leading by example. If you don't like what you do, then go find something that's best suited for you! We all have choices and clients shouldn't have to pay for your poor career decisions! I'm very disappointed that Sephora doesn't trained their service managers to care and to be kind. read more

I love this Sephora location. All of the staff I've interacted with have been helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I've received amazing advice on make up, skincare and hair care products. I was able to sample a few products before I bought the full size as well. read more

Came here to get something like a facial in a bottle. Nothing too expensive just something to brighten n tighten a lil. I'm a red head. So I looked for someone with my skin type. She recommended a product. I used it. I got a chemical burn. Only used it 4 days. Said for sensitive skin. Now I have a lawsuit. don't listen to theses women. They just went to cosmetology school. Went in today to this location to pick up a few items. There were a couple foundations I wanted to try but am always hesitant to ask for samples because I notice some of the employees get annoyed. Today I asked one of the artists near the foundations I was interested in and she was so sweet and helpful! I could see she was gathering products to put away and I apologized for interrupting and she was just so sweet and took a few minutes to help me and even made me an extra sample to try! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!! I went to returned an item and purchase other items as well. They were giving me a hard time to return it. As I was walking out the store there was a group of Sephora employees standing near the entrance giving me judgmental stares, as if I was stealing something. I was wearing gym attire and had a bare face, I don't know if they were discriminating against me for the way I looked. In most Sephora's there are salespeople in every corner looking to help someone. And in most cases, I don't want to speak to anyone and just get in and get out. At this Sephora, for the first time I really needed help. Everyone just looked at me and passed by and would ask people around me if they needed help. Was it my "I don't care the way I look today, I'm just doing errands" look that made them go astray? If thats the case they should have wanted to help me because I was such a hot mess. I come here a lot. Mostly I order online because the staff here pretty much sucks. Their attitudes are typically really negative and they are typically not very eager to help. I say typically because 80% of my in-store visits were this way, which is why they really did deserve that one free star. I called the other day to see about being on standby in case somebody didn't show up for the class that they offered this morning. I was told on the phone that that would be perfectly fine and that they usually have one or two no-shows. When I called again to inquire this morning the employee told me that regardless of their no-show status they still reserve their seats in case there late-even 20 minutes late. I don't know why I keep going back-as Ulta has a much bigger selection, and have more exclusives and gifts with purchases- which is BY FAR better than Sephora's rewards programs. read more

I love his place what girl doesn't. I'm sure we all had thet one time when you asked an associate for there opinion and they just agree and sell you the product, then you take it home and it was just mediocre. Well Ashley was different she was honest told me what I picked out wasn't as good as other products in the store and proceeded to explain in detail what all the products do. Let me just say this is by far the best Sephora in the Valley. At least that's what I think. The sales associates are super attentive to you and never let you just linger around the store without asking if you need help. I always get assistance the minute I walk in the store. And the sales associates are super friendly and they know their craft which is makeup. This store is always busy but dont let that stop you from coming in this particular store. I promise you will get the assistance you need. Plus the cashiers are very friendly and they dont have attitudes. :) read more

This place needs to pick up on their customer service. I get it your busy, but even a simple hello will make a guest feel better. Probably out of the 15 times I've gone in here I've been helped out twice. And thats due to Jessica. Shes great, she deserves 5 stars! Some associates have a snappy attitude and its disgusting. I walk in there with the hopes of getting some answers, but i have to be realistic they just dont care. Makes me wanna ask other retail guests for help. Sephora, Sephora....oh why oh why did you have to come into my life? I cannot go into a mall anymore without being pulled like a piece of metal by a giant magnet. Yes, at your local drug store/target you can buy dozens of brands of make-up that is perfectly fine at reasonable prices (yes, i have plenty of these brands too), but there is nothing like walking into a store where you can try on whatever you want and get lots of great samples too. I hate going through the make-up/perfume area at department stores. The Sales Reps are soooo pushy and don't leave you alone. At sephora you can try 1, 10 or hundreds of products and they will not bother/harass you. If you need help though, they are always there to answer all your questions. The employees always have great makeup on too and are happy to help you get that look if you want it. They will even put makeup on you and show you the best way to apply it. The greatest time I love to shop at Sephora is when I have gift cards from special occasions I have received to spend. This is the way to do it cause you can get carried away inside this giant make-up pallet within four walls. read more

I went there to get hope in a jar and also to get new foundation, I received help from a staff member there and tried on one foundation that was not for me, I informed her of what I had in mind, she walked away so I thought she was still helping me, but she started helping other customers and forgot about me. I have to say that out of all of the Sephoras I frequent (and trust, I do), this is probably my least favorite one. Why? The associates. I understand as well as anyone that their job is to try and sell girls like me tons of makeup, but c'mon girls -- you don't work on commission. If I want to play for an hour, please let me do it without checking in on me every two to five minutes. I'm a big girl. I can find and apply my own mascara, thankyouverymuch. Speaking of mascara, for the love of Christian Dior, will you guys PLEASE let me try the mascaras out without policing me to make sure I use the disposable wands?! While I understand the logic in preventing contamination and eye infections, as a consummate cosmetics consumer, I find it absolutely necessary to try the actual wand that comes with the mascara before I buy the product. Cause truthfully, these days the formulas are all very similar in ingredients and quality; it's ALL about the brush. Does it give volume? Separate and lengthen? Clump up? These are questions that can only be answered by using the product's actual wand. If you're genuinely worried about my eye health (as you constantly purport to be), don't be -- again, I'm a big girl. If its the health and safety of *others* -- that I legitimately understand, which is why I also find it necessary to sanitize the wands after I try them -- this is why you make sanitizer and alcohol available, yes? I do my part. If I don't, then please politely ask me to stop what I'm doing. If, however, I'm conscientious enough to clean/sanitize what I use, please let me be. Oh, and throw in some samples at the register! Don't act like you guys don't do that anymore... Cause the other Sephoras do! read more

I guess depending on the day or maybe this store read it's bad Yelp reviews, I had a totally different experience. I went to this location in the hopes of finding the Glam Glow Gift set after going to Northridge location and having a bad experience. Upon walking in I was greeted with smiles and Nikki asked if I needed helped. I said yes and asked for my product. Nikki took me straight to product and I went to the the very long line (half way to the door) but moved fairly okay. I observed Brooke, keep telling the others to apologize guests about the long wait. I also saw her be more patient and empathetic with a mom who had a child strapped to her, which could take a bit longer to help but she did it with a smile. (Unlike my experience at Northridge). Brooke helped me check out and again apologize for the wait. It was nice to see those leadership qualities and it reflects in the overall environment and attitude of store. Even upon leaving, I was greeted with a thank you and goodbye from another associate. NOW, that's customer service and it's no wonder this location has high marks. Keep it up Sherman Oaks. read more

This location is hit or miss. In their defence, it is mostly just so busy that you can't get the personal service you sometimes need. I was the first customer in the door this past Saturday because I needed a concealer and this is something I've never worn before as the color was never right. Jessica tried a Nars product on me and took the time to show me how to use and let me look at the other brand she was going to recommend. The Nars item was perfect and disappeared instantly into my face. Ended up spending more than I intended because of her customer service. The end. read more

Fatima was amazing!!! I came in to return a powder that had been recommended by another associate. That associate was super nice as well, but I could tell she was in a huge hurry. I couldn't see as well as I had hoped in the harsh fluorescent light that often stares at you in these beauty supply stores. She even did that color IQ thing on my face, but when I went home and put it on in the natural light, it was wayyy too dark. ANYWAYS, Fatima, was at the cash register with a line, I asked if I could return/exchange the powder, she went and found me the most perfect powder ever that matches my skin color like nothing I've ever seen before! Go to the one in Topanga Mall instead. This place is crazy, messy, and hectic. The people here would greet me and run away without asking if I needed help (Im pretty sure I had the most clueless look on my face). I'm not a make up expert at all and they were not very good with advice. It appears that the workers are taught to just recommend whatever is "new" or "in" for the moment. I ended up being there for a long time trying to figure out some things on my own and all i got were stares and the workers following me as if I was about to steal something...granted I was wearing a drawstring bag since I was working out before i came but STILL! So rude. Anyways, I bought a bronzer and came home to find out I liked the drug store version better. Meh. Two stars for telling me where to apply the illuminator. read more

I went here on a Wednesday afternoon. I like this location because they don't ask if I need help every few minutes. I come here to swatch and play with concealers and foundation. I do makeup as a profession and so I stay updated with the new formulas. I also asked for a sample of a foundation and she didn't make me feel like I was bothering her. Thumbs up for that.
