Would not recommend going to this location for makeup or getting it done by Mayra. It was an incredibly uncomfortable experience for something that is supposed to be fun. I didn't like how the makeup came out and at the end was charged for a 90min makeup service even though she only worked on it for 60mins. Overall very disappointing and I won't be back. read more

Shoutout to (I think) the MANAGER at Sephora (didn't catch her name) who was very kind & genuinely helpful to help me get my Glossier perfume (btw this perfume is ; heard about it via asking a stranger passing by; also got a lot of compliments myself) which was difficult to get my hands on! She was very knowledgeable, gave me solutions/options, told me when products are usually restocked, answered my questions etc! Thank you! I love this location! I went there on a Sunday and while it was packed, I still had four (FOUR) separate staff members ask me if I needed anything. It's a good thing, because by the time I realized I needed help, there was someone ready to help me. I felt very welcome - definitely more welcome than at other Sephora locations. One staff member even led me to multiple locations in the store to find the kind of items I was looking for. Great service! read more

FYI: upon entering the store: No, social distancing in force, No wearing of gloves by associates; Force mask on customers (which is great but their employees don't wear masks properly!) I went to Sephora at El Camino to return a product that unfortunately didn't have a receipt for due to the fact I bought the product with gift card. The cashier at the time I bought the product (March 2020, pre-COVID19) did not ask for my beauty insider, she just asked for my payment and send me on my way. 5 months later, I decided to go and return the product and accept either store credit and the value of the product due to the fact Sephora has a 60 day policy. I explain to the cashier (believe her name is Rosa/Rosey) (WHO WAS NOT WEARING HER MASK PROBABLY) Which is RIDICULOUS THAT THEY FORCE THE CUSTOMERS TO WEAR ONE but don't respect there rule!?! I explain that I didn't have a receipt and that I recall the cashier not asking for my beauty insider number. She called the manager (Johanna) to speak with me in regard to my issue. Johanna the Manager said sorry, but last week (8/17 to 8/23) was the last week to do override ANY TRANSACTIONS! I was under the impression that she was the manager. She said call the Sephora customer care number and ask them to override the product and they will place a "credit" on your account and come back to the store so we can take the product and issue you a store credit card. Literally, after the incident I called Sephora customer service and they said and I quote, " We don't issue any store credit on insider beauty account, and what the manager stated at the store is incorrect. " Also added, "You can take it to the store for store credit." Customer Service stated, "we don't have any communication with stores in regard to returns. Also he stated, " she might not just want to return item, simple as that." Which is not ok, given the fact it was bought at the store 1158. I like how stores are quick to take your money but refuse to take ownership of the situation. Wow let's just say that Johanna at Sephora at store 1158 is not Manager material or even a manager. If you ever experience anything bad at this store please call +1 (877) 737-4672 and press 0 to speak with a representative. Also, the Sephora at the Irvine Spectrum are more knowledgeable and they have a bigger selection. read more

The service here is horrible. The lady told me that they ABSOLUTELY did not carry a product I was looking for. She refused to check the drawers or in the back. After about 2 minutes of me continuing to ask her ( actually beg ) she finally looked in the back. GUESS WHAT SHE FOUND......????? The product I was looking for!!! When I mentioned that she should actually look next time before telling the customer that they didn't have a product she immediately did not apologize and told me not to touch her drawers in the store to look for anything. Completely classless. On top of that they made a simple exchange an absolute nightmare. The only thing that I can say is that finally when I spoke with a manager ( who took me 3 employees to get through telling me I couldn't exchange the product ) - finally the manager found a way to make it work. This is where I throw my money away. I was fortunate to come to their soft opening and was treated to champagne and lavender cupcakes. This location is choc full of parking and it's probably up there with the South Coast Plaza store. I was able to find all of my staple skincare products, Sephora brand makeup and designer fragrances in no time. As far as size I think it's around the same size as the Downtown Disney store? I'd definitely recommend going here because it's conveniently located off the 5 fwy. and I think it'll be a little less crowded that the surrounding Sephora stores. read more

Had an appointment for a makeup session with Mayra She did not know what she was doing and was fumbling with the tools and appeared confused about what was supposed to go on the skin; picked colors and palettes on the face which were way off and also kept asking me what colors she should select to apply. If I knew I would do it myself! When she found herself running low on time, she said she had other appointments after and we have to finish, but she barely applied anything on the face. Huge joke. Can't believe they have her staffed as a makeup artist. She is clueless. Paid $60 for nothing and didn't purchase any products from the encounter. read more

Wack ass employees. I get that we can't touch anything due to covid. It sucks but I understand. The employee switched makeup on a scrap piece of paper and handed it to me. I touched it. She got mad that I touched it and made a point to call me out 2x for touching this piece of paper that went into the trashcan. Fug this store. Its clean but employees have attitude. Terrible!!! I went to return a foundation I purchased in February as it was the wrong color. It's been 6 months and all I wanted was store credit since I knew the refund period has passed, even with COVID. I live right next to South coast plaza, which is where I got the foundation from. South coast plaza Sephora is still closed due to covid, so I went all the way to Tustin to return the foundation and get a store credit. The useless manager and sales associate could not accommodate me. They refused. All I wanted was store credit AKA they're not losing any money, and this is the type of treatment you give customers? Great way of doing business during these unprecedented times! I'll be sure to only shop at Ulta in the future. You lost a loyal customer. read more

An associate sent me off with someone who I thought was a Sephora employee. This person was hard selling another brand to me that I had no interest in. I'm honestly so disappointed in this store location. I went in yesterday to get foundation matched and had the weirdest service. I've gotten foundation matched countless times, so I know how things go. The associate would put a drop of the Dior foundation on the back of my hand and asked me to blend it in my hand to see if I liked the consistency. I said sure but she never put anything on my face. I asked if I can put some product on my face and she looked at me funny. There was an awkward silence of whether or not she would actually shade match my face. She gave me the weirdest foundation shades to try on myself (she never touched my face). I had to tell her that I have a neutral undertone when she kept giving me shades that were way off. Then I went to find a counter stick. This one got me irritated. She handed me the DEEPEST shade possible off the Fenty Beauty sticks. I have a medium skin tone and that's how I figured out that this girl has no idea what she was talking about. I also witnessed very petty high-school type drama. I clearly said the the name of the girl that help me to the cashier for her to get the credit. Although she wasn't the best of help, she still deserved to get the credit for helping me. But the cashier laughed to her coworker next to her saying that she was going to give it to another employee instead because she thought the girl that helped me was annoying. Train your employees Sephora. I'll be driving all the way to Irvine Spectrum and South Coast Plaza for my needs now. read more

One of my go to Sephora's in the OC area. First I loooooove that it is a separate store outside of an indoor mall because sometimes you just need to run in and grab something really quick but don't want to deal with Mall parking and Malls in general. Second, it is bigger than a lot of other Sephora's so there is more variety and availability of goods. And third, parking is readily available. Have not had the opportunity to get a consultation in this location but I will say that I noticed there aren't as many employees walking around as other locations. From my experiences the only employees I see in the store are two cashiers but nobody walking around to answer questions. If I needed assistance that might be an issue for me especially because Sephora always has a line. read more

I went into the Sephora wanting to exchange a Christmas present. I got gifted a charlotte tilbury foundation in the wrong color. All I wanted to do was to exchange the item, and get the right color. The manager working tonight didn't catch her name, but it's 8:15. So she is working a closing shift. She tried to explain how I need a receipt or proof, even if I want to just exchange it. Which is frustrating because I have no receipt. Because it was a gift. I get there are rules but it is the holiday season and maybe should be a little more lenient. I've worked in retail for 4yrs and I know how it is. Honestly the last did a good job in handling the situation and explaining everything. But I did get annoyed because I know she could've done an exception. I read the guidelines on Sephora website and she could've atleast met me halfway. Since I last wrote this review, this store has greatly improved! Larger variety of brand and I can usually find most of what I need here rather than have to go to south coast plaza for it. It's a smaller store so it's less busy, less crowded, tons of parking! They offer Perks facial here which is great and convenient. I usually get one done every couple of months. I have been very happy with my makeovers here and the artists have improved. My favorite skincare brand Biossance is here which is a clean brand. I also love Dior for makeup. +1 star since a year ago, they have really improved this store. Since it's 5 min near my house, I'll usually stop by for a quick makeover or to pick up a product. I've booked facials, mask services, full makeovers, and mini makeovers, they are all great! I recommend pre-booking on the app since makeovers get booked quickly. I booked a makeup service appointment 60min for a corporate look with the lovely Grace. She's professional and very nice to work with. You can tell her what application you like and she'll work wonders. The eyeshadow was one of the highlight of feature because it makes a lot of difference. My husband could not stop complimenting my new look. The makeup service section is facing the street so you get the nice natural lighting. Purchased a MILK mascara, (along with several other products) took me about 2 - 3 weeks to open it since I was still using my previous one. When I did, this brand new sealed mascara was completely DRY! I put it my car to exchange it for a new one, but because it was a little over 60 days, they said they wish they could, but they couldn't do anything about it. Lol! Wow. I Just had a not so great experience at this specific Sephora-El Real Camino 12/11/23 around 8/8:30pm. While at the fragrance area I noticed a perfume, "replica-jazz club" being at $60 for the 3.4oz and asked an associate to help me find the product. They couldn't find it, but were showing they had some in stock. It seemed that managers were pulled into trying to find the product and later we found out there was a price misprint. I was told they were going to honor the price and after waiting and waiting and waiting I was told they couldn't find any. I wasn't given any other sort of help in terms of helping me get the product I wanted. It was just given a "no we don't have it" and we can't do anything about it. It was a very poor customer service experience. I wasn't gone to make a scene. I've worked in the guest focused/customer service industry and given the circumstance there could have been some sort of rectification. Price adjusting a similar product would have been something that I would have been okay with and nothing was offered. Everything I asked about was shut down so I left without purchasing anything. The original associate seemed to genuinely want to help and I appreciate that. One of the managers, Asian and maybe in her early 30's was the one who negated any solution. The passive aggressive 'have a nice night' from her, as we left was not necessary either. I wasn't the one who put out incorrectly priced product placards. Needless to say, I won't be visiting nor would I recommend this location to anyone. read more

I was so happy with the match and composition of the foundation felt great on my face. It hasnt launched yet as they explained to me and it was no issue, the lovely woman referred me to a different one for my skin care needs and it was from a brand I liked and a better price point. I went to this Sephora location today and now I'm regretting it. First and foremost, I was not greeted when I entered the store. I needed assistance from a worker, so I started looking for one. This lady said she'd be right with me and then walked away. She never returned to assist me, so I went looking for another employee. She immediately answered and moved away after I asked her a question regarding an item I was looking for. On top of everything they were sold out of both of the items I needed. So I then went to the Irvine location which is MUCH better, they know how to treat a customer. I recommend going to the Irvine location instead. read more

I just got my prom makeup done here and it was WONDERFUL!!!!! My artist (I think her name was Haley?) WAS AMAZING!! She listened to everything I said and did everything I asked of her, and I had a lot of requests. I wanted to look snatched for prom and I looked so great afterwards, I could hardly recognize myself. I was able to request any product in the store, and I ended up with the most gorgeous makeover. My eyeshadow blend was flawless. And it lasted all night. It did take a little longer than expected, but I think that's because I asked for a bit of a complicated look. It was definitely worth it! I'll be back here if I ever need anything.
