I have been buying at Sephora since 2013. I think this is the best place to get makeup products! During all this time the service has been always great, but especially two days ago when I went shopping at The Market Place location. I was helped by an Associate called Fatima. I want to highly her great customer service! She was incredibly helpful and friendly. She took the time to understand my needs. I felt like she truly cared about finding the perfect products for me. Even though I was coming just to look for 2 brushes I ended up finding some more amazing products for my daily makeup. I have been here TWICE and NEVER again will I come to this store. Every time I come to this location they come up with some kind of new "policy" to avoid the curbside pickup. I use curbside for the convenience of passing by really quick since I go during my lunch. The employees are clearly seen to just be wandering around gossiping with each other. When I went to the front to pick up my order as I was directed on the phone after being told about the "new policy" there was only ONE cashier and a LOOONGGG line, when the rest are clearly seen to be doing absolutely nothing. When you come in and leave you are clearly judged by the look on their faces (the ones by the door). Inconsistent policies from employee to employee and from store to store. We bought some cologne from a different Sephora and came here to return it due to the convenience. But when we tried to return it and exchange for another one, the manager at this location failed to honor the 20% off coupon. She refused to make a one time exception, even though multiple employees at her store and another store said it could be done. It's good if you know what you want to buy but a lot of people ahead of me seems agitated that they couldn't go in and see what was available. As soon as I stepped in had an associate passive aggressively ask if I needed help I said no and she proceeded to let me know they close in 15 minutes. I grabbed what I needed and paid quickly. Then as I'm ready to exit I stop and smell a cologne with my husband and an associate walks by looks us up and down and gives us a dirty look because we're smelling the cologne. I always come to this Sephora to grab my makeup and have never experienced rude customer service like I did today. I came in for 1 thing - it wasn't stocked on the shelf so I looked in the cabinet below that has additional stock to see if my color happened to be in there. A girl rushes up to me "EXCUSE ME, CAN I HELP YOU!?" I looked up and showed my color, and said "Oh, no thank you I found what I was looking for." I was closing the drawer and a product was sticking up so the drawer wouldn't close - the girl goes "STOP STOP STOP!" and literally was scolding and raising her voice at me. She could have said "Oh I have that for you." Or just been helpful or nice, but nope. I was asked at the check out if anyone helped me and I just said No politely vs saying actually - your girl was rude - because ultimately - why make that girls interaction awkward when she had nothing to do with it. Tip: To the girl that thought talking to a customer that way was appropriate - Stock the product ON THE SHELF and I won't have to search for it myself. Also, those drawers aren't locked and it's common knowledge it's a back stock drawer. It's not like I walked into your break room or behind the counter. Calm down. read more

I had a date to get cute for and I was low on primer so I needed to make a visit to Sephora ASAP. I checked their website and this location was the nearest to me that was reopened. I like that it was at Tustin Marketplace since I did not have to physically risk myself going into the mall to get to them. Covid Safety - Social distancing 6 feet markers, arrows in the floor to encourage one-way traffic, face mask enforced for staff and patrons. Hand sanitizer provided at the check out. No make up testers and samples :( When I was browsing the store, Beauty was very helpful. She offered to help me find the Smashbox section, since they had moved it from previous layout. Smashbox has an amazing line of primers and I usually use the water base primer and setting spray, but that is more for the day to day look. I told Beauty I wanted to look extraaaaa flawless for my upcoming date and we ultimately decided on Smash Box Photo Finish Primer ($36). When I was in line for check out, I saw this Buxom Plumping Lip Polish ($21) in this shade called Sandy, which is classified as pink nude high shine finish. Mhmmm I like it! It makes my lips extraaaaa kissable looking. Haha!! (God, I hope Bae never stumbles upon my reviews, I'm so lame!) Rose helped me check out. Before she called me up to the register, she sanitized the credit card machine and customer area. I felt very safe at check out. Also Rosa was able to help me redeem my extremely belated Sephora Birthday gift. Since my birthday was during the peek of Covid, I missed out on a lot of the birthday perks, so I am grateful they extended the grace period on the birthday promo. I love this location! It's located in a beautiful shopping center with easy parking. Their inventory is awesome - they have shades here that other locations don't. Took a while for me to review but when I was getting color matched, they used product directly from the testers onto my face. I'm not sure how the general public hasn't learned from COVID? Why am I always offended by chatty, expressionless, unkind, cheeky comments? I needed help because there are so many products and types, but today, as expected, they chatted and answered questions casually. I always wonder why there are so many unhelpful staff. But today was different. I think her name is Sandra, but sorry if not. With Sandra's help, I purchased the product I needed easily, comfortably, in a short time, and with great satisfaction. She accompanied me through the sections of the various brands and helped me through to the end. After looking for a product for a long time, I almost gave up and was about to leave the store when she came and asked if I needed any help. oh! Thank you !!! This is a fairly new location and it's pretty clean. The staff is friendly. This location is smaller than other locations nearby, but they still have a good amount of products. During these covid times, they actually have some products outside of the store, which is nice. This is now my store of choice as their entrance leads to the outside, which seems safer. read more

For some reason, most of the Sephora locations and online are sold out of the Dior Lip Scrub Balm. I received a promo code to take 15% off your purchase and found this location had it in stock. Using the buy and pickup in store option, I placed my order in app and waited until I got the e-mail telling me I could come get it. This location is on the smaller side and is located in one of the plazas that make up the Tustin Marketplace. It's near Athleta and a Bank of America branch. Parking wasn't too bad when I went during lunch to grab it. Make sure to drive slowly and carefully - there's a lot of people who drive faster than the recommended speed limit. They have a designated line for those who book shopping appointments and those who place online orders stand in it as well. The staff were pretty friendly when I went and they kept the lines moving. It took a bit of time to get my order as the gals inside were trying to locate it. I guess it was shoved between bigger bags and that kind of flattened the shopping bag, which made it hard for them to find at first. Eventually they located it on their orders shelf and allowed me to come in and pay for it. Their payment device was a little slow but I'm guessing it's due to the connection. (They said their internet was acting up lately.) Once I paid, I was out of there in 15-20 minutes. I would consider shopping this location in the future if I was in the area. read more

i normally only write reviews when i am getting personalized service (dine in restaurants, massage, facials, hair salons, etc.); however, as evident by the many 1-2 star reviews, i received the worst customer service of my life at this sephora location. my mom and i went in to make a return. we had made two purchases of the exact same product but they were two separate purchases with two separate prices. we wanted to return one of the two. the cashier at the front pulled up the wrong item and when i tried to show her the correct item on the sephora app on my phone, she didnt even take a second to look. she proceeded with the return that i just told her was wrong. when i repeatedly told her it was not the right item, she tried to justify her action by saying the refund amount might be different because i used points/rewards, after i explicitly told her it is literally the WRONG item. she had to grab the store manager who came to void the entire transaction and return the correct product. i get that mistakes happen, but this cashier literally did not even try. she didnt look at my phone to see what the correct item was, she never once apologized, and she had the worst attitude ive ever experienced. there was no empathy, acknowledgement, or apology for this mistake. my mom and i left the counter to look at lip products. the store manager proceeds to walk right behind us with a different sales associate and starts to talk about us (literally and physically) behind our backs. if youre going to talk about someone, much less a customer, you might want to wait until theyre gone. my mom and i got in line to purchase a lip product. the same store manager who was just talking about us behind our backs, comes up to us and asks if everything is okay because she noticed we were in line again. as soon as we told her we were actually making a purchase, she presents us with this giant smile as if she wasnt just talking about us behind our backs two seconds ago. we get the same cashier again to make our purchase. there was an issue with my sephora rewards/points, so she asks another cashier to assist. this is the perfect juxtaposition of what is good customer service vs. bad customer service. this other cashier was super polite and professional, took time to troubleshoot, explained what happened with my points, and why i am unable to use my 10$ reward. complete 180 compared to the previous cashier and store manager involved. i am confident no one monitors these yelp reviews and that most are not flagged to store managers/regional managers, but this type of customer service, if repeated, will 100% be detrimental. tldr; dont talk about a customer behind their back, especially if they are standing right there?? and if you make a mistake, just own up and apologize and act professional. these are basic things they teach you as a retail sales associate. read more

Full disclosure: I have never stepped foot in this location but you bet I will when lockdown is over. I'm writing this because of a heartwarming experience with one of the employees who work here, Ruthie. My day job is a freelance content marketer, but I took up Instacart as a way to make up for lost revenue as client projects were put on hold. Ruthie was one of my customers and she was absolutely sweet to work with and left me a small gift of products from Sephora as a thank you. It has been an extremely stressful time for me and my family, but this act of kindness reminded me that there's good in this world. And even though this pandemic has thrown everything for a loop, people are still capable of being kind. Ruthie mentioned that she worked at this location and even though I've never been here, I wanted to commend Ruthie for representing Sephora and her store well. Hopefully her supervisor sees this because Ruthie definitely deserves recognition. I don't even go to makeup stores (makeup intimidates me), but I would 100% go to Sephora more often if I knew that I would consistently interact with kind and thoughtful people like Ruthie who could walk me through what I need to know. I came in a couple days ago looking for one of the fragrances. I walked into the store and went straight to the fragrance section, right to the replica stand thing. Immediately, I felt all employee looking at me as I was testing the testers and finding the one I wanted. I felt like a mouse being stalked by a hawk. Everyone was staring, but no one approached me to help. I finally found the one I wanted but I didn't see any boxes for the size I wanted so I called a worker over, but two workers rushed up to me, as if they were going in for a kill. The older one with bangs who looked like a witch, told the other girl "it's okay I got this" and said something in her mic. Weird. I felt a little uneasy at this and thought to myself "why are they acting so serious over a customer inquiry?" She asked me what she could help me with, not in a rude way but in definitely not in a friendly customer service type of way, it came across very firm and rigid. It was like she was talking to me if I were a shoplifter and she just wanted to use an indirect way/tone to indicate she knew that I was about to steal... Second red flag... When I come into sephora, I am not expecting a red carpet to be rolled out for me and a glass of champagne handed to me, but usually beauty store employees usually start up a friendly conversation, or at least make a comment on the product you are interested in. I understand that workers are overworked, tired, and have bad days too, however, this hag came at me with her bi+ch attitude and made the whole thing so awkward and uncomfortable. Every time I have bought something from this goddamn store no matter skincare, makeup, haircare, or fragrance, no ugly dumb b*tch tried to "hold on to it for me, until you're ready to checkout" At this moment I connected all the fu€king dots. The intense hawk staring, the bizarre and suspicious employee behavior, and the fact I WASNT ALLOWED TO HOLD MY OWN ITEMS IN THE CHECKOUT LINE clearly indicated that the idiot bird a$$ sales associate and the rest of the staff thought I was there to shoplift. This Sephora is terrible. I should start by saying, I don't wear makeup often. By that I mean, I MAYBE put on make-up once a month (if an event warrants it). That being said, my make-up often goes bad before I can use it all. That is exactly what happened with my bare minerals foundation. Knowing I had an event coming up in a couple of weeks, I decided to order a new foundation. Well, as luck would have it, Bare Minerals decided to change the names of their foundation colors. So I had to do a little guessing when I selected, what I thought was the right shade, online. You can see where this is going, a couple of weeks after purchase, I go out of town for my 2.5 week work seminar and sure enough the color is just a tad too dark. Luckily I was able to resort back to my loose powder foundation. I get back into town and like most people, it takes me a few days to get settled and then I go to Sephora to try to exchange the product. Unfortunately, they are out of the color I need, so the rep says "no problem, we should have that color in soon, try back in about a week" BIG MISTAKE!! What she/I should have done was immediately return the product and just get store credit. Instead, I come back about a week, maybe a week and half, later, and they still don't have my color. So, I ask if there is any other nearby location I can get it from and they offer to order online and have it shipped to me. GREAT! So they scan my product and OOOOPPPs "it looks like you are beyond the return period" I pull up the email for when I had the item shipped and start explaining it had only been 2 months and it was my understanding that was within the return period. Well as it turns out, because May has 31 days in it, I was at 61 days and they could not take my product. In fact, being even more technical, I was at 60 days and 2 hours from the time of "scheduled" delivery. Thinking this is absolutely ridiculous, I ask for a manager to see if there is some way this can be overridden. (if ever there was a time overrides were intended for, I am thinking, this must be it) OH NO, as it turns out managers have ZERO authority. Apparently, they are just figureheads that write schedules as the manager comes over and gives me this long explanation that summed into "I HAVE NO POWER" So I start inquiring as to other options, including customer service, and the manager flippantly states, "uh yeah sure, you can try" (WHY ARENT YOU SUGGESTING THIS?) To make a long story longer, I called Customer Service, who also felt it was ridiculous the store didn't work with me and immediately sent me a label to return my product. So while it all ended well, it was NO THANKS to this store and their terrible customer service. I think I will just go back to ULTA or purchasing from Bare Minerals and Clinique directly. read more

I came specifically for a perfume by D&G but it wasn't the right one for me, but her diligence led me to find the perfect perfume (Dior - J'Adore). Her eagerness for helping me and assisting other customers while being persistent with me made my experience so much better. She was giving advice while keeping in mind the floral scents that I preferred and offering more suggestions. She is worth my first and probably only review. Absolutely adored her. read more

I completely understand everyone is short staffed with the pandemic, but they were not busy at this time. I needed new makeup, face makeup, blush, everything! But I was hoping for some guidance because I don't wear a lot of makeup often. The staff ignores you when you look like you're in need of help, so I asked someone for help and he seemed annoyed. He offered no guidance, so I mentioned a random brand and he just tried to color match me while clearly frustrated. When he was finished I asked if he could help me find some more products.
