I LOVE LOVE Sephora the company, however I prefer shopping for all my stuff online. I do however come in to try things in person and check things out before I buy them. This location is right near a Starbucks and near CPK and Crate & Barrel, so it's very lucky. They are all very nice when you enter the store and check up on you. I like how they don't constantly pester you. I love the selection of make-up and perfume and their rewards program is AH-Mazing. This location is a tad small but it's great to come in when it's not crowded. read more

My personal experience at this Sephora was more pleasant than a couple of other experiences than I've had with other Sephora locations. When I was searching for a certain cologne, they helped me purchase the right fragrance that hit the right notes I was aiming for which was masculine but with softer musk scents compared to other colognes marketed. The assistant manager there definitely knew what I needed and recommended a few great products to me as well that I did end up purchasing. However, it was awkward when there was a woman standing around whom was a Sephora employee and when I asked her for assistance, she stated, "Oh, no, I'm just supposed to stand here." It was odd to me because she wasn't standing near the door or greeting and hesitated before she reached for a product I needed in a drawer and then she proceeded to assist another customer. I had no idea what that was regarding but I guess they may have one lazy employee. The gift items with the Beauty Insider Card here are great, they usually have everything in stock, and they're also well equipped with items you can't find at smaller Sephoras. They have everything from the Shiseido range, Hard Candy, and more of everything. The staff is fairly friendly, not exactly enthusiastic about their job but better than being rude and not being assisted at all. I love how fast the shopping experience is from going in, purchasing, and getting out. I do wish they hire more makeup specialist though; I did notice that there is a lack of information for their products at this location, the superiors know definitely what they're talking about but the regular employees seem like they were just hired yet I see them frequently. read more

The customer service here is awesome! The employees seem to be very knowledgable when it comes to the products, even the cruelty free brands & whether they are sold in China or not.. (Btw if they are sold in China then the company is not really cruelty free) which is important to me. Love the return policy and all the free gifts! The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the lighting. Trying Products on in store is absolutely wonderful! But I do advise asking someone for a hand mirror and looking at the swatches on you outside in natural lighting. Many products I thought looked good and natural on in store looked dull and lifeless on me outside, and others looked too warm or even yellow inside but looked absolutely stunning and natural in literally any other lightning. I don't spend too much time under fluorescents so seeing the swatches in the sun helped me a lot! read more

I usually love this store in all its locations. There's a ton of girls to help with any questions I may have, or to help me find a product. I will say this, however : When searching for a foundation, one of the girls (who had terrible skin and clumpy, uneven foundation applied to her face), offered me a product and said, "I'm wearing it right now." I didn't buy it. Some of these girls need help with their own beauty application choices. I say this not purely to poke fun, but lemme just say that when she used herself as an example of the products they have to offer, I was made more unsure of what I should purchase. Besides that, I love their Dior mascara, Benetint cheek and lip tint, and Bare Ecentuals foundation. They have good application tools too. read more

The staff here is very great and helpful at choosing items that suit you. They are understaffed compared to their customer traffic and you usually have to flag someone down for help, but once you get a staff member then they are very helpful. I have had my makeup done here many times and I highly recommend Lizeth. This location is very clean and organized. The staff hustles to put their go-backs away for customers to test. Also, they are happy to send you home with samples as opposed to shaming you for asking for samples. Just make sure to properly sanitize their testers with alcohol (the product and its container!) before sampling. Wash your hands after testing products to prevent bacterial contamination. If you do color match or product testing/application with a staff member, do not be afraid to ask them to use a clean brush. read more

They rarely run out of items, though I was slightly challenged in finding a NARS pencil the other night... Which I eventually decided has been discontinued. Came into the store with my mom and appreciated the awesome customer service! My mom bought a Yves Saint Laurent lipstick and I bought the Buxom mascara. Was a little crowded but it was expected on a Saturday. Tip: If you haven't signed up for Sephora's Beauty Insider", it's a must! For every dollar you spend you collect points for mini rewards both at the store and online, and for your birthday you also receive a nice gift! This year I got a Nars mini eyeliner and lipstick. Oh and the more points you collect, the more perks and discounts you'll receive. It won't cost you a penny to sign up, maybe just 5 minutes of your time, but it's worth it if you're a regular shopper. Also, don't be afraid to ask for samples for perfumes or foundations. It's just a great to try things before buying them. One more thing, Sephora also offers 15 minute makeovers for free! Just ask someone who's available. If you're coming in on a weekday you have a higher chance than coming in on a weekend so plan accordingly. read more

I have mixed experiences when I come here. Sometimes I get ignored and at times I get great customer service. There's Susana who is super awesome & always accommodating. I always take forever in sephora boos I get so indecisive & I've noticed that if I've been lingering for too long I feel eyes on me as if I'm going to steal & sometimes I get asked like every couple mins by someone different if I need help or if I'm finding everything ok. Which I get is there job, but I also work in retail and I know it's like a scare tactic for people you suspect stealing so that they feel like you're watching them. THIS IS MY NEW HOME FOR MAKE UP. Good-bye ordering online, paying extra for shipping, and waiting forever when Sephora has all my make up needs at the online price w/o shipping. I've come here 2x, once to browse and 2nd time to actually buy something. I ordered an eyeshadow primer from the Urban Decay site and I decided to just check out Sephora and see if they had it, which they did, (going to try to cancel my order today). I was so happy! The greeter in the front of the store was helpful and pointed out where all the Urban Decay products were. It was pretty busy when I came by, but the workers were fast paced so I didn't wait long. The lady who helped me was very nice, she smiled the whole time which was nice too and also suggested their benefits card, which I didn't hesitate to get. This location looks a little dirtier than the other ones I've been to. The carpets are faded and dirty. I came here twice in two days, possibly because I'm going through a splurging phase; I don't know. Anyway, they have this new polish collection (Sephora by OPOI Nail Blasted). This location is nestled in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek (WC) and prime spot I have to admit! Very friendly staff, a person greets you when you come in and they are very helpful with any questions you may have :) It was busy this past weekend as you know it is the holiday season and there are so many good deals every where! Although I don't frequent Sephora regularly whenever I do they are always so helpful. You feel welcomed as soon as you walk in with the door greeter, and there are several makeup specialist on the floor to help you when you need help. I've asked for color matches a couple of times, and they are always so happy to do that for you. I just love the service that I get from Sephora. If I ever feel like I don't want to spend money, I can just come play with samples all day. I love to bring family here and do all their make-up before heading out to enjoy the day. The biggest plus is that if you sign-up for their rewards program (free), then on your Birthday you'll get some free samples. Extremely disappointed with the customer service I received today by Store Manager! She would not take back a damaged item. She insisted she could do nothing. I'm old enough to know there are policies on returning damaged items! A good manager would carefully inspect the damaged item and return it! Good location in the middle of Broadway Plaza WC. Store seems kind small/narrow compared to other Sephoras. Cons: Seem to be out of a lot of items. Feels really cramped. Pro: I was making an exchange and didn't have the receipt, the girl who helped me at the register was super nice and friendly and didn't give me any grief over not having my receipt. I couldn't get a cash refund, but i got store credit which is fine with me since i spend more money on make up than i do clothes. it's nice to know that if u buy something, are unhappy with it, threw away the receipt and packaging, and come back a few weeks later, you can still get store credit. read more

I like that I can earn points on the money I spend and i can get stuff with the points. My recent trip to Sephora was due to some items that I wanted to return. I can't remember what time my friend and I came in but we were in there for a long time. Accidentally stayed in there until 6:15 as we didn't realize they closed at 6 whoops!! But everyone there was super nice despite that. We were greeted in by the person in the front. I was totally clueless as to what eyebrow shade to get since my hair is an unnatural color I just got done a week ago. Vanessa was super sweet and helpful. She did her best to help me find an eyebrow shade and I could tell she knew what would work on me. Unfortunately nothing they had worked perfectly on me but she was super apologetic about it. I really appreciated the fact that she was honest about them having nothing that worked, rather than giving me a shade that wouldn't quite work just to get me to buy something. She also helped my friend find a concealer that worked for her. Vanessa rang me up as well and she was super knowledgeable about all of the products that they had to spend beauty insider points on as well as what each beauty insider birthday gift had, so that was a plus. I had a great experience at Sephora in Walnut Creek today. It was hot, but I lucked out finding free, covered parking close to Macy's. It was just a 5-minute walk to Sephora. I was looking at the Makeup Forever foundations for just a minute when a sales rep came to help me find a matching shade. She tested 4 shades on my cheek and jaw until we found the right one. (The Emeryville store had nothing darker than #40 in the MUFE Mat Plus!! How did that happen??) The Walnut Creek Sephora had plenty of the darker shades in stock. I wanted to browse around and saw the Bare Escentuals Multitasking Concealing powder. Right away, sales rep Janna came to help me find the right shade. Her look was very polished and she had skin tone close to mine so I had complete confidence in her. The manager came by to say hi as Janna was helping me and then checked in with me again as I was lined up at the register. The cashier was polite. All around great service and worth the drive from Oakland. I found the Walnut Creek store a lot cleaner and tidier than the Emeryville store and the sales reps a lot more accessible as well. Bunch of snobby stuck-up employees I was shopping there for Valentine's day and after wandering around for about 20 minutes trying to find wife's makeup I finally had to track someone down and what I walked into was 3 employees gathered together obviously not doing their job making fun of another customer and when I asked for help I got eye-rolled and huffed at like I was interrupting happy time making fun of people... I had a wonderfully pleasant time at this Sephora. I was greeted with a smile and was treated very nicely. The staff was very friendly and always came at the perfect time when I needed help but, the didn't overwhelm you with trying to be helpful ya know? I went in to look at perfumes and I could not decide which ones to get. One of the sale associates made free samples for me so I could where each of them for a week to see which I liked best. The store itself is very organized, clean, and smells wonderful. The first time I ever stepped into this store my mouth dropped and my eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store. I find it very convenient to find all my favorite brands in one beautiful store. Last week sometime i went to sephora to return a highlighter palette but since there was a long line, i figured since i wanna try a new foundation which happen to be dior i might as well get color matched. I would say service is a hit or miss here fairly often. And I only give 3 stars for the brands they carry. They're definitely expanding products! Let's be real, if you're not dressed up or look a certain way somehow in walnut creek forget about proper costumer service. With that said. Went to sephora last week. Busy day and crowded mind you with a lot of Tweens and older ladies. I was followed around by some lady wearing all black, at first I thought she was a customer looking at products but by the time I checked-out I saw her helping a few customers. That was petty. I don't want to resort to saying racial profiling but trust me - I've only had it happened in walnut creek and sephora definitely isn't the only place where I've experienced it. So with that, not once with all the Sales Associate passing by me - not ONCE did anyone offer me any help. They were helping some of the younger girls. What Tweens do you see carrying money to buy some damn dior? They're too busy putting on nasty tester products on their face. I clearly had stuff with me ready to buy and kept wandering down the aisles, I walked in not get greeted but some older lady behind me was greeted by all the SA. And yeah I don't like people breathing down my neck when I shop I'll admit that who does, but hell, if all you do is stand around by the Gucci perfume a little customer acknowledgement would be nice. Literally, can't even deal. It sucks but blatantly being followed and ignored isn't the best experience one should endure, especially as a customer who is spending a good amount of money there. I came into Sephora looking for a good mascara fit for my lashes. I'm asian, thus I have extremely straight, short, thin lashes. So I wanted something to bulk up & curl my lashes. Before I went to this Sephora, I shopped online for prices and to get a slight idea of what I wanted. I saw that there were a lot of mascaras by good makeup brands between $15-20, so I set a firm budget on $20. When I inititally asked for help, they called in someone else to help me. The lady that came to help me was quite older, very well in her 40's. When I explained what I was looking for, she sent me directly to the back and showed me a mascara that was $50! When I told her my budget was $20, she said "well honey, you're shopping in the wrong store because all of our mascaras are from $24-$50." When I told her that I looked online and was interested in Benefit or Urban Decay which were in my budget, she took me to the Sephora line and kept pushing me to buy one of the Sephora brand mascara and didn't even address or acklowledge the brands I was interested. So I bought the Sephora brand mascara to get the hell outta there. Overall, my experience was extremely poor. She was obviously either: trying to get me the most expensive thing OR trying to get me to leave bc I supposedly can't afford anything. read more

I had gone into Sephora maybe 2-3 weeks ago and had gone around lunch time which was nice since it really wasn't busy at all. I was greeted very warmly when I first walked in. I was just browsing around, found a few products so I made my way to the register. I had a cashier named Sylvette I believe and she has been the rudest cashier I've ever had there. She barely greeted me, rang up my items in a huff, didn't even ask if I wanted a bag or if I had a Sephora card. NOTHING! She just threw me my items and said next. I of course misplaced my receipt... so when I went up to the counter to let them know the lipstick did not work for me and I needed to find a new one, they were very rude to me. treated me like a criminal over a $14 dollar lipstick!
