This is a classic roadside burger joint. Period. No more. No less. Check your snooty foodie attitudes at the door or just keep driving. It's nearly perfect just the way it is but if this place ever goes foodie, I will never darken its door again. Sequoia Burger is a favorite childhood memory for me. They've been famous for their "small" fries since the 1970s (1 small fry is a paper lunch bag half full of fries)... 2 stars for portions and keeping that tradition alive I love their BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger (includes an onion ring, kinda like Carls Jr's Western Bacon Cheeseburger... yum!). My wife loves their Southwest Chicken Sammich (includes so many jalapenos, she is forced to share them with me)... 1 star for that I like phoning my family's order in and hearing "it will be ready in 10-15 minutes"... and it is. 1 star for that Free refills on soft drinks ... 1 star for that So that's 5 stars right there. Here's where they could use some improvements: -1 star: Allow folks who order by phone to pay at the pickup window rather than wait in line for 5-10 minutes at the order window. I've learned that I must order by phone, leave the house immediately and stand in line or risk cold food. If there is no line, then I end up waiting 10-15 minutes near the pickup window. Defeats the purpose of phone orders. (last night I made the mistake of waiting 10 minutes before leaving the house and had to stand in line behind a local High School baseball team for more than 15 minutes while they ordered.) -1 star: outdoor dining area could use some help. The green color of the corrugated fiberglass roof casts a sickly, unappetizing hue on the food. Flies are a problem in the summer because the garbage cans fill up very quickly due to Sequoia's popularity. read more

Specifically checked closing time - all postings showed a different time, so went with what is on their website, 7:45pm. Drove 20+ minutes away specifically to patronize this business and was told (at 7:20pm) that they stopped taking orders early and I could not be helped. Burgers are good, but not good enough to warrant supporting a business that clearly does not return the service to customers trying to support them. Employee shrugged off their early closure, I would have understood had this been a one-time experience, but from other reviews it appears not. Absolutely disgusting. I think I counted 20 or 30 live flies (countless more dead ones stuck to the flypaper hung around the place or on the ground) buzzing everywhere... Food was mediocre and far to greasy to be enjoyable. I understand that fast food is meant to be chock-full of oil, but the burgers they serve here are just soggy with grease. This place kind of looks like a dump as you drive pass and many probably don't even pay any attention to it and I pity them for that... Amazing shoestring onion rings. Amazing French fries and really good burgers. Like shakes too? Well they have great ones also. A word of warning. One order of Onion rings are enough for like 3 or 4 people (same with the fries one order is enough for a group of 3-4). These are seriously best onion rings that I have ever had. Over the past 45 years I've seen this places quality go up and down like a roller coaster with the several owner changes. The present owners have had it for quite awhile now and it's great to see the quality is high again. It's really nice since I can call in a order on my way home since I latterly drive right past it. They used to be the best and now I can't stand them. The last two times I tried them, because my husband really wanted burgers, my burger wasn't cooked..and I don't mean to my liking, I mean once it was cold and the other time it was still red. They used to have awesome onion rings and now they went to heavy battered whole rings, the shoestring onion rings were definitely better. oh my god! i love sequoia drive in. the burgers are great. they are not overly huge...they are perfect sized. the quality of meat is great. it is everything you want out of a burger and then some. the french fries are amazingly delicious. they are not too thick, yet not to thin. golden and crispy and quite abundant. although i have not personally eaten, i have seen and heard about the onion rings, and the sound and look fabulous. if you want a tasty mutherfuckin burger and some awesome fries, come here. you wont be disappointed. read more

Nummy, nummy goodness happens at this little stand! The burgers are juicy and cooked to perfection. The fries come in a monstrous size-so share! They are all crispy and perfectly delicious and their onion rings are thin curls of sliced onions lightly battered and fried and again served in a monster sized helping. I have not tried all of the burgers but I have never been disappointed in my selections to date, and the hot dogs are good as well. I'm surprised that I've never done a review for Sequoia Burger! I am a huge fan of this little roadside burger joint. If you want a down home good burger this is it. Nothing fancy, just a good charbroil flavor with a large selection of goodies and cheese to add to it. On my recent stop here I asked if the Teriyaki Burger came with pineapple. It doesn't but the very friendly server (perhaps owner) happily added a slice of grilled pineapple which was the crowning glory of this tasty burger. We skipped the fries but if memory serves me correctly an order of fries is enough to feed a small army. This little burger shack packs a powerful punch! Food = 4.5. I can't remember the last time I had a beef burger but my BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger from Sequoia was my successful return to flame-broiled goodness! MOOOOOO! Used to love this place. Will never go back . The last few visits I found staff to be rude. Last night we order a strawberry milkshake with our large order of food. We tasted the milkshake- it was vanilla. Went back and the kid handing out the food told me it was strawberry and it was pink.. I said very nicely as I opened the lid ah this is white and taste like vanilla ice cream. He was very rude said I would need to wait for another shake after he demanded it was srawberry- I suggested he taste it.. he then quickly made me another shake and said here! A co worker and I stopped in for a work lunch on the go,I had a double sequoia with Cajun fries and he had a single,garlic fries and milk shake. The burgers were meh just a step above Burger King, 1/4 lb. frozen patties cooked till grey. Produce was fresh,I'd say a typical diner burger but over priced(8.99) for a double and 6.99 for a single. Now to the fries! Oh man this place ought to be called sequoia fries.... they give u like half of a brown lunch bag of fries(a couple lbs) for 4.25 even though they were plentiful they weren't that good. The Cajun was missing something,tasted like just chili powder& paprika. The garlic looked better but weren't,they needed to be tossed in a little bit of olive oil before the garlic and Parmesan so it could stick to the fries. For a fast food joint, this place is great. It's much better than most of the barfood I've had in the new local beerbars. All they need here is beer! We tried the fish and chips & the chicken sandwich, & both were terrific. They're also extremely generous with their french fries. I had enough fries with my fish & chips for 2 people! We'll return sometime soon to try the turkey burger & fish burger. This reminds me of the drive-ins we used to go to decades ago, but with much more variety. Who knew that such a small, not-so-attractive place would have some of the best fries, burgers, and malts in Sonoma County? They are packed daily and I finally resolved to try it on this basis alone. Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food that was being packaged and sent off on trays. The fries taste as great as they look-- and mind you, by "small fries" they actually mean "small family fries"; a stack of these can feed 3 or 4 easily and I'm a big eater. Folks were calling in orders and they could hardly keep track-- 5, 8, 10 per order. At this point, I was excited! Not to mention, they've earned quite a few accolades in their time from the Bohemian and such. The burger was relatively lean and the bun was excellent. They use top-notch ice cream and Carnation malt for their malts-- so, I recommend that you splurge on one of these as well. The tab came up 13 dollars and some change for a double cheeseburger, small malt, and small fries-- not the cheapest outing for this kind of meal but it was well worth it. read more

Overload french fry warning this is .... wow way too many. I also asked for them extra crispy and they did not, or if they did it was not measurable. Since it took so long to get our order I did not send them back, plus its not wise to send back food. Sequoia has had consistently good hamburgers, fries and shakes for a couple of decades now. As others have noted, the portions on the french fries are mind-boggling. Where else can 2 or 3 hungry people absolutely *gorge* on one small order of fries, shared between them?
