We went on a Friday night and the ambiance was good for a family dinner , or date night! Because it's not very close to anything and there's not a significant amount of parking available, I'm not sure that you'd find this place by accident. Definitely more of a nice to have gone once type of place but there was nothing on the menu that you need to go back for. The drinks, food, ambience was everything I could have wished for. If we lived closer, this would be in our normal rotation of restaurants.

If I could pick one thing to eat for the rest of my life, it would be the Bruschetta my only complaint is that the serving size for the bruschetta is not big enough! I could eat one all by myself lol. The pastas here are also delicious, we ordered the orecchiette and rigatoni bolognese. Reservations are recommended as it is usually pretty busy. This isn't my #1 Italian place, but it's certainly somewhere you can take your new girlfriend to impress her by overpaying for small portions. The ambiance is nice, dim and romantic. It's quiet, on a weeknight it wasn't very busy. The inside is nice, elevated, but private. Doesn't look like too much on the outside though. The quality of food is great - genuinely delicious homemade pastas, delicious Bruschetta with salmon, olive, and chickpea dips, and the bread (Pane) was probably the best focaccia I've ever had. However, the service was slow, and on a slow night, it took us over an hour to get our main courses after ordering. Doesn't make a lot of sense. There were probably five other tables in the restaurant besides us. The prices are also very steep for the amount of food you get on the plate, delicious or not. But, for others, this might be a 5 star place. They have a very specific vibe. The server was nice and genuinely gave off the impression that he loves working here - very passionate about the food. I have been wanting to try this place ever since I returned to Seattle, but never did. So for our 10th Wedding Anniversary dinner I decided to make a reservation. I called the day before and asked for their prize table for our special occasion. They picked their favorite table and I trusted them. We arrived a bit early, and the table was not quite ready. The hostess told us she would come and get us when the table was ready. At just about 7, our reservation table was ready. We are light eaters and we normally like to get a few different things and share everything. Our waitress was Jenn. A very vivacious and accomodating person. She greeted us and wished us Happy Anniversary. And brought complimentary glasses of champagne. The menu at Serafina is very unique in that it has things you have never heard of before. And they are classic Italian. The flavors are like no Italian place I have ever been. To make it short and sweet, our evening could not have been better. The food was exquisite. The night that we went was very busy and very loud. The tables were very close together and it can give off a cozy feeling or a cramped feeling. It was kind of in between. Service was a bit slow, but the waiter checked on us a few times while we waited to let us know the kitchen was backed up. The Bruschetta was surprisingly really good. I guess I didn't have my expectations but it was beyond what I imagined. They had three different dips- olive, fish, and chickpea. The fish one was my favorite but they were all delicious in their own unique way. Spaghetti was absolutely delicious. You can tell their pasta are homemade. It has perfect texture and the squid ink sauce was creamy without before overly fishy. The lasagna was a good standard dish. LOVE this restaurant! Everything from the service, ambiance, and delicious food is a 10/10. I wish I got our server's name because she was such a sweetheart! She did an amazing job taking care of us with recommendations and being attentive. I got the spaghetti Nero half size which was perfect for a light dinner and so tasty with the shrimp. For the second year in a row we were able to get mother's day brunch (take-out) from them and it was such an enjoyable experience. The food was delightful as was the Mimosa. It was carefully packaged and we thoroughly enjoyed all dishes despite most of the family suffering from colds (hence really appreciated the chance for takeout). The sweet potato latke was delightful and the jam vegetable/accompaniment reminded me of ratatouille. It was our second year having both the forest mushroom scramble and brioche french toast and both were equally good if not better from the prior year. Our cocktails were top notch - the bourbon variety were spirit forward and gin versions went down smooth for the ladies. We brought our own wine and paid $25 corkage, which is pretty standard. Our waitress was amazing - she described each dish to a tee and parsed our courses out perfectly. Everyone raved about the Limone salad, while I enjoyed the Bruschetta - very different than the traditional tomato version but so good. Rigatoni Bolognese - yes please. It was fresh, and the flavors were subtly delicious. I had the Rigatoni Bolognese and my friend had the mushroom. The pasta dishes were both tasty and satisfying but didn't necessarily distinguish themselves. The sauce wasn't too tart and the meat was flavorful. The servers were very attentive and friendly but the service was understandably slow given how crowded it was - we ended up with our drinks after we started our meal. Have been coming here for years with friends and visitors - always have loved it...but...we had a very off-putting experience yesterday and we won't be coming back. We were early (before opening) but their front door was open, so we walked inside...and were immediately met by the bartender with, "we're not open yet, please wait outside." OK...but that was quickly followed up with an abrupt closing of the door and hearing the door lock. Fine... About three groups lined up behind us, and when they opened, we walked up and told them our reservation was in 15 minutes would it be OK to be seated early...nope, they needed to process all the other on-time people first, to please wait in the bar (about 10 feet away), and then they could help us...which was also fine. No offer from the bartender to engage with us or ask if we wanted anything. The other patrons were all quickly seated, and yet they didn't come get us (after 5 minutes...so now we are just 10 minutes early), so I walked over to the greeter and asked again if we might be able to be seated early. She had to look us up again, looked at some other papers, and told me, "I'll need to get your table ready and I'll come get you". So...at exactly our start time...she finally came and got us. It was very clear that the front of house had been instructed to deal with folks like us in this way (pretend you're actually going to help them) - it's just the opposite of all of our experiences there over the last 20 years and potentially 50 times we've eaten there. It was also the first time that anyone we've taken (let alone our own experiences) have ever had a dish disappoint. 2 of four were very disappointing. They also charge almost 5% extra to give to non-servers...which added some salt to the wound. I feel it's important for people to know that the place is not exactly what it has been over the years. Mmmm, pasta. If you like carbs in the shape of noodles in delicious sauce, Serafina should be on your go-to list. I visited Serafina and had the pleasure of dining on their outdoor patio in October 2020 (during COVID). The patio has heaters to make the outdoor seating situation a little more comfortable. They also had indoor seating available but I was more comfortable with being in fresh air. Speaking of COVID comfort, the staff were really good with the mask and sanitizer. We were asked to wear masks during all interactions with the friendly staff (who all wore masks too) and I appreciated that. Patio tables were separated significantly and this was good to see. For food I was obsessed with the pasta menu and decided to order two half pastas. I LOVE places that allow half-orders. I had the duck confit agnolotti (Agnolotti dal Plin) and the Rigatoni Bolognese. Both were so very good. If you dine here without having the duck pasta, you will regret it. In addition to the pastas I had the Polpettine meatballs as an appetizer. The meatballs were good but the sauce, while tasty, was runny and didn't stick to the meatballs. Just a personal preference for me but I like a sauce that is thick enough to stick to the meatballs. Looking forward to ordering the burrata on my next visit. Gotta love burrata! Parking was not too difficult to find when dining early. Parking is free on the same side of the street as the restaurant and I was able to snag a spot within a block. We shared the salad with an amazing delicate dressing , bruschetta that came with a delish trio of green olive tapenade, a honey goat cheese spread and a smoked salmon spread and then we ordered the melon with prosciutto. For my drink I tried the Amalfi Breeze- basically a tart lemon drop with Averna. Perfect on a hot summer afternoon. They have one of the prettiest outdoor patios in all of Seattle. Been going here for many years. Went the other night with a friend. This visit was very disappointing. Hostess didn't crack a smile all night. Food was so-so, at best. Overpriced for what it was. However, the squash was amazing and I wish there's more of it. The arancini were very small in size and lacks aroma/flavor, which I was a bit disappointed. The lamb osso buco was a specialty dish that night. The lamb wasn't gamy at all but it lacks seasoning in the meat itself; similarly the polenta lacks seasoning and too plain. My favorite things were the orecchiette and semifreddo. The pasta dish was a bit salty but overall great flavor and the pasta was cooked to perfection. I love good pasta. Serafina creates perfect Carbonara. I am addicted. They cook the pasta truly al dente, so if you prefer softer pasta, just let them know you would like them to cook it a little bit longer and they have no problem doing that. I like my bolognese to basically be one texture and always ask them to toss it a few extra minutes so its softer. The bread is delicious, the oil high quality, and the ambiance relaxing. Parking can suck. There is usually a spot but during peak hours not so much. read more

He was prompt but didn't rush us and even brought us a taste of red wine on the house to go with the red meat :') so thoughtful! The braised short ribs became an instant hit and I'm really hoping they still have them next time I go! If not I'm sure whatever I end up with will be equally as delicious. The meat was tender, flavorful, and balanced. The portion seems smaller but I was full after the meal and left completely satisfied. The Yelp and Google ratings lied. This restaurant feels divey and is not a $$$ place. I showed up to a date in a cocktail dress and heels and felt super over dressed for the ambience. The wait staff also dressed casually and the tables were cramped. A server splashed water from the pitcher all over my menu and didn't seem to notice. I don't really care too much but the vibe here is certainly casual. Not sure if there was complimentary bread and olive oil but no one offered us any. We couldn't get a spot outside and the place was sweltering. My date and I got home made pastas and it took forever to cook. The flavor was great, one of the best pastas I've had in Seattle I dare say (had the duck confit pasta and pappardelle), but the wait time was just atrocious. Bill came out to be $110, for an app, 2 entrees, one non alcoholic craft lemonade, and a dessert. I didn't opt for any alcohol. I would say it's a 2.5 $ place due to subpar service, decor, plating, and the actual cost of the bill. I didn't take any photos because the plating didn't look that great. A $$$ place with the proper ambience would be somewhere like Barolo in SLU if you want a suggestion for another Italian place. Such a beautiful restaurant! Parking was relatively easy on a weekday evening. We made a reservation pretty easily for a party of 4, but there were many open tables so you may not even need a reservation. The host stand is located more centrally in the restaurant, so you'll have to walk a bit inside before checking in. We tried the focaccia, asparagus, and arancini. The olive oil with the focaccia was lovely and the asparagus was flavorful with tasty boquerones and the arancini were nice and moist on the inside. For mains we had a seasonal salmon risotto and the eggplant melanze. Everything was so delicious and portions were pretty generous. Would definitely recommend this place for a cute date night. Location--Corner location, outdoor dining, no view of lake, pets okay--I witnessed a dog patron on the patio with their owner, parking was non-existent. Service--after FINALLY finding a parking spot, we walked into the restaurant. There were only three of us (my husband, daughter, and myself). She asked how many, and I stated 3, then she said it would be a 15-20-minute wait, and we said okay. I noticed that she did not write our name down. We asked for a menu to get an idea of what their dishes and ingredients were and the hostess handed us a paper menu. We proceeded to wait outside. There were many empty tables and yet there was a wait??? Extremely puzzling... Ambiance--As we drove past, it seemed nice but once we parked, and walked in, the restaurant seemed tired, dark and not fresh. In a Nutshell--The experience was not great, and it did not feel welcoming for tourists who were exploring Seattle, like us. The entire time we waited, the bartender and waiter stared at us but never offered us an update on our table. After waiting for about 15 minutes, my husband walked in, placed the menu on the counter and we left. Background: We are from Southern California who were exploring the lake area when we got hungry. I yelped a restaurant with a good rating as we were driving through the area. After our negative experience at this place, we ended up at Johnny Mo's Pizzeria down the street which was a win!!!!
