Looking to grab something quick to eat, we stopped into Serafino's, and ordered a medium mozzarella and meatball pizza to go. Since this was our first time, we didn't know what to expect. Boy were we pleasantly surprised. This was not New Haven-style pizza, but it did have a thin crust. The crust was much stiffer, but the bottom had a delicious crunch to it. The pizza also had plenty of their excellent sauce on it, but the best part was their thinly sliced meatball topping. My wife and I both agreed this was the best meatball topping we ever had. I would say 4 for food quality and 3 for service organization- food tastes quite good and presentation was very good as well. I sampled Bruschetta, fried mozz, chicken francais, cheesecake, Caesar salad, potatoes, and pasta. All tasted very good. The only issue with food was that the ice cream services was quite freezer burnt. We came for an event (buffet style), and it seemed like the organization of it could use some improvement. We waited quite awhile for any food to come out which could've been on the party organizer, but then it took awhile for all tables to get served once the family style appetizers came out. Other tables were getting second apps or cleared before our table even got one appetizer (there were maybe 9 tables which is not a lot for an event in general), and there seemed to be a long delay between each tray. Not sure if this was due to playing room or balancing the event room with the restaurant side . Service seemed similar for dessert, in that it wasn't brought out until people started leaving, not enough was brought out , and there was about a ten minute delay in between each set. I worked in banquet dining for quite awhile and it seemed like the speed/ flow of these events could use some work . The room itself was very nice, but there was cold air blowing on our tables on a cold rainy day which was a bit uncomfortable. The parking lot can fill up quick on a busy night and is rather cramped. to start with I have been coming here for about 2 months and have found this to be one of my go To's. the crab cake appetizer is very well done and full of lobster,which is a nice touch. the arancini is delicious especially with the vodka sauce. the eggplant was very well done and perfectly cooked. and my friends rave about the broccoli rabe and sausage with chicken. this dish can be pretty tricky if not done correctly but it may be my next try here. I haven't done the pizza yet but that will be next also. if you haven't tried them yet you need to give them a shot. they do both seafood and Italian dishes very well. and that to me is the sign of a good chef. read more

I don't have any pictures to post because I did not get my meal. I was there for a conference and food accuracy was not great. The service (responses) was poor. I was to have no mushrooms (allergic) and what happened my food came out with mushrooms on my fish. I call the event planner and RSVP'd with an email telling them no mushrooms. Got to the event and was handed a ticket which read fish/no mushrooms (allergic). Now they took my plate back and offered to make me another one. They did make me another fish meal and I brought it home and tossed it out. Meanwhile, I'm sitting there hungry. The event started at 6:00 pm which is dinner hour. I went to pay for a slice of pizza and was told they had none.They offered me pasta with sauce on it. No thank you. The room was cold and we were told it was at 74 degrees and it could not have been. Everyone was talking about how cold the room was. When I first arrived I thought oh I might look at this place for future meetings for our firm. Will not!! My husband and I have been here many times before, but this time was different. In the past we've gone to this establishment on nights where a show is being held at the Oakdale right across the street. We've even witnessed the entertainers eating dinner at the restaurant! Never an issue with getting a table. This time however we had no choice, it was either sit at the bar or find another restaurant. We were told you needed a reservation, which never was an issue before. We decided it was easier to sit at the bar than find another place to eat. Then we find out that the menu which is normally huge, is cut in half "show night menu" we were told. We begrudgingly ordered items we truly weren't in the mood for (pizza wasn't even an option on the menu) and with tip it cost us $75 for two meals, two sodas and no apps or deserts. A group of five of us had dinner here at a Friday night before a show at the Oakdale Theater. Reservations were made beforehand, and I definitely recommend them for a Friday night. I live in the area and many people I know frequent Serafino's. I am the odd one out that hadn't been before this particular visit. The restaurant was extremely busy, and it was kind of a tight fit. They had a seated at a table that was very tight for five people, but a booth right next to our table was large, and meant to accommodate six we asked to be moved, and a waitress was supposed to check if we could move, but then it seemed like they forgot. Two of us ordered a salad and three ordered a pasta dish. I also ordered a stuffed mushroom appetizer. Everyone loved their meals. My salad was very filling, and all of the ingredients were extremely fresh stuffed mushrooms were also very good. Two of the women had drinks and commented that they were OK , I just had water. I didn't have a chance to walk around the restaurant or use the restroom, but the place looks big and there was some outdoor seating. I would definitely return, perhaps on a weeknight and try one of their regular entrées and maybe sit outside this time. read more

Serafinos is a restaurant located in Wallingford right off the highway and just a couple minutes to the Oakdale theater. We actually had a show Friday night so we grabbed dinner before hand. It was busy but not extremely packed. I do suggest making reservations tho. I forgot to mention Serafinos is Italian . Apps, salads, pasta dishes, drinks. Service was good , a bit all over the place but we were checked on, orders came in time, food was good. I really enjoyed my salad actually. I didn't see a labeled gluten free on the menu . If I could, I would leave 0 stars. My husband and I came in to try this place for his birthday. The food and ambiance looked amazing from the pictures. When we walked in we were greeted by a rushed hostess who offered us a very small 2 top by the door and told us take it or leave it because it's a "show night". The Serafino's Special pizza is cravable. We used to live down the road from Serafino's but moved out of state for 8 years. We moved back and returned. Often things are not as remembered. To our delight this pizza was just as we remembered and it was excellent. The thin crust gives way under the weight of all the ingredients piled high and thick. One downside if you're a local is they are across the street from the Toyota Oakdale Theater. On show nights they can get extremely crowded and they limit their menu. If however you're going to a show and can get in, you're in for a treat. Our son had the baked ziti, a good flavorful portion. Like many of the pasta dishes it seemed a bit pricey. They've remodeled the inside and it's nice and open. Tonight the service was friendly and quick. It was good to come home and we will have be back. read more

I stopped into this restaurant because it was directly across the street from the record store I was visiting and my family was hangry. The parking lot was full so I didn't bother looking at reviews as I figured it must be good. The atmosphere was nice. It was clean upon entering. Nice vibe and causal yet a slight upscale feel with the decor. The price point was a bit higher than expected but we still gave it a go. The waitress was kind. And the other patrons were friendly. My two year old niece was greeted upon our arrival and departure by most guests :). The oysters and fries were good. Cooked perfectly. No old oil taste or fishiness. They were salted nicely. I wasn't fond of the remoulade. I felt the sesame taste was too much. My mom loved it though. The coleslaw was unique but guess what? I couldn't taste the fennel. I was looking forward to it having a different texture and slightly different flavor than regular coleslaw. Unfortunately I didn't perceive a difference :( The pizza was blah to me. The sauce didn't have the 'umm' factor I crave when it comes to the perfect pie. It's not bad just not a pie Id travel for. The salad dressing wasn't a favorite either. Had lunch here yesterday, as usual it was amazing! First off our waitress Nadia was super sweet, and very helpful. My husband ordered his usual Cavatelli Parmigiana, it was delicious...I had to sneak a bite. I ordered something new for myself, can't remember the name of it...but it was linguine with shrimp, chicken, mushrooms and sausage in a brown sauce. It was amazing! We were her a while back. I remember we didn't think much of the food/service. I imagine most people dine here due its proximity to Oakdale. I would just say if you don't like getting constant unwanted emails, don't bother joining their Loyalty Program. The company that sends them out does not accept incoming emails, therefore, I can't get them to stop. Annoying to no end. (And yes, I've blocked them, and yet they still keep coming...) They made a Red Sauce Pasta with cheesy chicken cutlets in sauce Salad with a red wine vinaigrette Salmon cooked in a white creamy sauce. Was looking for a place to go a few weeks ago a bit later in the evening. Serafino's (which is close to my home and I've been remiss about ever checking it out) was open until 10 so my husband and some friends and I stopped in. The restaurant is inviting and cozy. We opted to sit at the curved bar area and order some drinks/food there. The bartender/server was so-so, could have been a little friendlier, but otherwise okay. I ordered a tamarind margarita (I think that's what it was) and it was definitely spicy, but had no tamarind flavor, sadly. Tamarind is very tangy.....you'd notice it immediately if it was really in there. We browsed the menu and ended up going with an eggplant pizza. The eggplant was SO good! It was just really fresh and cooked super well (maybe fried?) but was delicious - not bitter at all like when you don't cook eggplant quite right. Prices seemed on par with most other Italian restaurants you might go to. Overall, this is definitely a spot to add for an occasional pizza or drink off the beaten path in Wallingford. read more

It is shocking to me that I have never left a review of Serafino's. I think that is because it is one of the local faves that I visit so ofter that perhaps I take it for granted. This place is just great standard Italian food. I love to sit in the bar, it is a slightly cozier vibe than the dining room. And if you get Arturo as your waiter, you are lucky. He is VERY good at his job and a lovely person. My absolute favorite thing they make is their chicken parm grinder. It is literally perfect. My son's fave is the meatball grinder and my husband is partial to their penne alla vodka; he says it is the best he's ever had anywhere! Their wine list is great (if you are looking for a recommendation, get the 1924) and my son says the bartender makes a very good espresso martini! read more

The booths were very comfortable, the lighting inside was very well lit, and the restraint and bar itself was very clean and updated. The food itself was delicious. I suppose it's been since at least 1978 that I was aware of this restaurant. I've gone there half a dozen times. As Italian restaurants go, it is a cut above... At least in some ways. Their renovations have helped them serve their customers better. The garlic knots have changed a tad, but I didn't notice anything else that was glaringly different. For those of you who read my reviews with any kind of regularity you understand that I try to take pictures but I don't always provide them because it's not necessarily needed. We did encounter a waitress who was a lot like an adopted Italian mother that I grew up around. When I hadn't finished all of the little diced tomatoes that were originally on top of the Bruschetta, she scolded me like my Italian mother would ... But that's OK. That's part of the feeling; part of the life. I can't complain about any of the food, and I don't think anybody else at dinner did. My dad had his particular prejudices, like being adverse to garlic; but garlic is a staple in a place like this! So once again, no pictures, but you don't need pictures of Italian food because you know exactly what it looks like; or you know exactly what it SHOULD look like. This particular restaurant by the way gets a lot of traffic. Primarily because it's virtually across the street from a theater that hosts "up-and-coming" and "out and going" theatrical productions and musical productions and so forth. I bet if you were to quiz the staff they could probably give you some rather famous names that have passed through those doors and you never know who you might see there! So if you're in the neighborhood go ahead and stop there. The price on the receipt for dinner for five adults who ate modestly and did not have dessert and only had one glass of wine for two of those adults (each) was $130.00. Not bad actually, considering the economy right now!? Did the food present well? Yes it did. Did the food taste well? Yes I think so, and I'm kind of picky, since most of the Italian food that I grew up around was from people from Amalfi, Italy, who had a particular way of cooking food that can't be replicated in a lot of restaurants. Made reservations, which I highly recommend because soon after we arrived for our 5:15 slot, the place was filling up. I visited the restaurant today 9/6/24 around 1:30 pm and it was the lousy, first the music was Spanish and way too loud, the waitress was very short and seemed to be in a rush all the time, I ordered the chicken parm. lunch spec. she did not give me a choice of what pasta I wanted. so I received way over cooked ziti that fell apart when I tried using a fork, there also was water on the bottom of the bowl of ziti, had to scoop up the ziti to pick it up, the chicken tasted frozen at one point with more water being underneath the chicken, the sauce was okay but didn't hit the mark for being a Italian restaurant....the best part of the meal was the bread and garlic knots... read more

Updating my review since this will reflect new ownership... Went here with my family this weekend first time since new owner took over. Very happy to say that everything was amazing. The fried mozz app was delicious, along with the sauce. The best was the AMAZING app of Stuffed Mushrooms they were to die for... Another runner up was the Serafino Antipasto... omg. All of our meals were large portions with plenty to take home. The only negative thing I can say is that we ordered Tiramisu to go as dessert, and they charge 9$ for a very small piece. Don't mind spending the cash, just looking for a bigger piece. Our waitress was extremely pleasant and she did a fantastic job taking care of all 6 of us. We will definitely be back soon. Went for dinner in a Wednesday night and sat at bar. Was not busy at all and bartender serving us was slow and rude. After 10 minutes of sitting there she took our order of 1 drink and proceeded to socialize with co workers and disappear in back. 5 minutes later we asked someone working there for help who contacted our server who again disappeared again. Finally got drink after 15+ minutes and waited 10 more to place food order and decided to leave. Was charged $13 for 1 basic bar drink and received horrible and rude service. I love the food and the bar atmosphere at this restaurant! The food is wonderful and delicious as always and I love dining with my family when I come to this restaurant. Since the staff has changed we met a new waiter Scott. He is an excellent addition to this venue. He is personable, kind, funny, and polite.
