They do a great job here. It's a good local spot. They're a little expensive but it's always a nice experience.

This spa seemed nice and clean, but I was disappointed with my nails. I recently moved from Orange County, CA... where almost EVERYONE gets acrylic/pink & white powder nails. I have been looking for a salon that can do a good pink & white fill, or a new full set and salons here seem to rarely do acrylic nails. I have learned that some places call them "aqua" fills. Anyways- I asked for a pink and white fill, and they said all they had was gel, which sounded familiar but was far from what I wanted. The stylist was really nice, used clean tools, and filed my nails in a nice shape, but she filed away all my old acrylic and put a thin layer of UV gel on, then painted (!) my white french manicure tip on, then painted a top-coat on. It didn't last more than 4 days before it started chipping like crazy. My tip- if you are looking for acrylic nails near this location, go to Venus Nails on 42nd and 3rd (2nd floor). They do a decent acrylic fill, but I am still missing my California nail girl! PS- acrylics seem to cost TWICE what they did at home as well. The search for a good replacement salon continues.... sigh. read more

This place is fantastic. Very clean, very comfortable, very professional. Although the pedi is a bit spendy ($28) the work is great and the salon is gorgeous. (Update...this pedi has lasted 3 weeks without chipping!) Highly recommended for ladies needing a great mani, pedi, or polish change who work near Grand Central. read more

When I first moved to this area, one of the first things was to find myself a nail salon. I didn't come here at first because it looks all fancy and it must be expensive. After all the visits in other neighborhood nail salons and after all the money I have wasted on all the other salons, I ended up here at Serenity Nail and never looked back again. It is on a more expensive side but that also means, a better quality service, a much cleaner environment, and more skillfull technicians to work on the nail issues you could possily have. You get what you pay for. They have very standardized service procedures based on my observations. I went there without an appointment for a good 3 months just so that I could try different people and decide on who I like the most. And they all provide the same service, except for a couple Hispanic ladies - they didn't clean my hands with foams, and they were messy when applying nail polish. I wasn't upset, I just didn't tip as much. I like the Chinese and Korean ladies the most - they have strong hands for massage and they are friendlier. I chatted with them sometimes and found out they all enjoyed working here because the boss lady is a very nice person. I just thought it's very pleasant to know that they enjoy their work and they are happy to provide good service. read more

The salon appears to be closed. I last went in around 2 weeks ago for a mani and noticed this past Saturday that the grate cover is down over the door. The drying table with the fans and the manicure stations seem to be gone. Stuff is off the shelves. Really hoping they have relocated and will put up a sign! read more

This place is wonderful. I used to have my mani/pedis here when I lived in the neighborhood, and my nails always looked awesome and the results usually lasted for awhile. It costs slightly more than other salons in the area but they do a phenomenal job and are very sanitary. read more

I love it when I go to a place and they call me by name, it makes me feel, uh, special. It's a bit on the pricey side compared to other places in the neighborhood, but the stress-relieving pedi is soooo worth it. The manis last longer than other places and for an extra $12 or so you can get a really, really good 10 min back rub while your nails are drying. I think that I'm gonna try a massage soon there, which is saying a lot after my last massage experience. read more

I have been here a few times and I have to say it is the best value all-in-one spot in midtown east. I have had a serenity facial, hydrating facial and a microdermabrasion facial with a collagen mask which was my favorite. It is also my regular spot for a quick manicure and pedicure. I have never been disappointed especially when considering the reasonable prices they offer. If you need to get in all in without breaking the buck in midtown I would highly recommend it. It's even open until 9 pm Mon-Fri! Mireya is awesome! Great attention to detail, professonial and gentle. Don't let her petite size fool you - she gives a great spa pedicure. read more

I just tried this place out and was pleasantly surprised. The mani/pedi is a couple of dollars more expensive than the other places in the neighborhood, but are so much better ... longer spent on massages (plus a bonus 1-2 minute shoulder massage during drying), better nail polish that will last longer, more comfortable chairs, nicer/cleaner environment, etc... I also took a chance and tried their brazilian wax ... no where near as good as J-sisters (but who is?). It took too long and the waxer seemed to be trying to get the right "angle" a few times ... but once she finished (40 minutes), it was done correctly and completely. I'll gladly endure 10 more minutes of pain to save $25 on J-sisters waxes. read more

Okay so they are a bit on the pricey side but the $100 Hot Stone Massage with Hannah was really great. It melted away my stiffness, pain and tension after a 5 week business trip that ended in a 22 hour flight back home to NY. The $ 150 Lumi Anti-Acne (The Lumi part is treatment with a green light.) Facial with Michelle also made my skin glow and made me look younger - My assistant said I looked very relaxed and my skin was very clear for someone who had just returned from a marathon trip. read more

This place is awful. I went in for a pedi and the woman ends up cutting off half of my pinky toenail. The salon wasn't even busy and this woman was in such a rush she wasn't paying any attention to what she was doing. Trying to play it off as if it was fine because it wasn't bleeding does not negate the fact that she cutoff more than half the nail. There is absolutely no white part of the nail left and it continues to throbs. I would not go this salon. If you do, then be a hawk. read more

This is certainly, the worst facial I ever had. And I have had facials since the age of 15, all over the place, and a skin which, is not terribly demanding. The place looks clean enough, in comparison to the similar establishments near by, and mani/pedi was not bad. However, deep pore cleansing facial leaves a lot to be desired. First of all, there is hardly any extractions. Not even for 5 min. Secondly, I was not asked if I am allergic to anything. Or what, I wanted for that matter. The masks are slapped in a random fashion one after the other,and my face was even treated with a lumi lamp, allegedly for hyper pigmented skin that, I do not have. Until, mercifully the lamp stopped working. The whole experience left me convinced that, the person in charge of my face was never ever trained as a beautician; it was almost comical at times, but mostly scary. My eyebrows were shaped unevenly, and an upper lip became irritated. Above all this, I disliked being constantly hassled to try something additional, whilst I am actually trying to relax. Yes a paraffin wax on my hands was a pleasant extra, but it was not something I wanted in the first place: I wanted a deep cleansing facial ( steam, followed by extraction for at least 45 min followed by peel, followed by mask) and this is definitively not what, I got. I was glad when it was over and I would not recommend this place to anyone. And yes microdermoabrasion is definitively something different than anywhere else, I ever tried. read more

Just a notch about the other mani/pedi places, but so many little, better things about this place seem to add up. The massage is wonderful.

I've been going to this salon for about 5 years and love it! I've been to other cheaper places, but am always disappointed. Other places dilute the polish, do not use clean tools and do sloppy work. Serenity is extremely clean - the best example of this is the bathroom - it's cleaner than most apartments! Yes, the manis and pedis are a few dollars more, but worth it and they only use sterilized instruments. The massages with Andy are outstanding and extremely well priced - 60 minutes for $75 and the quality is better than most big name spas, most of which do not have permanent massage therapists. Serenity accepts walk ins and they are open until 9pm. This is a great convenience - I live right there and have often jumped in a cab from the office at 8:15 and made it in time to get a mani before closing. Very polite staff that knows me by name tops off the experience. read more
