Worst place in town, unprofessional can't keep up with appointment times and completely overprice!!!!!

I'm in love with this nail salon. The space is clean and modern. The manicure includes an exfoliating hand scrub, hot oil massage followed by a hot towel treatment. My nail tech was fast but thorough and very friendly. After the manicure I sat and dried for 30 mins and not once was questioned or felt like I was being rushed out. I like this place because when you pick a color off the "nail wheel" they actually have it. I've been to other places where they never have what you want then try to show you a similar color that isn't what you just spent 15m trying to pick out. Anyway they are very organized and taking all safety precautions during covid. They have great pedicure packages that include a massage etc. I tried the silver package the last time I was there. Being pregnant it was what I needed it included a nice 15m foot massage. I have only been there twice but I will be back again. They are very nice and welcoming whenever I walk in. I love Serenity Spa and nails. I have been coming here for the past 10 years to have a pedicure and a gel manicure. It is always clean and the girls are professional. The Pedicure Chairs offer a massage and there are TVs and soft music in the background. It is a very relaxing time. If I could give this nail salon a 0 I would. The audacity of the staff (especially the owners daughter) is beyond me!! I moved to freehold a few months ago and came across this nail salon. I've done my nails here a total of 5-6 times and every single time I've left unhappy. The only reason I kept coming back was to give them the benefit of doubt -clearly didn't work in my favor. This last time was the straw that broke the camels back!!! I went in for a fill-in with MAY. I did one solid color, short and square. Easy right? No. First of all May was insisting that I spend more money, pushing me to do a design or something to increase my price -as if they're not extremely overpriced as is. I continued to get my plain gel fill-in to only come home and my nail breaking not even a whole hour later!! Like anyone else would, I called the salon and the owners daughter answered. I explained what had happened and how I had just been in with MAY and right off the bat this woman had the nerve to tell me it was my fault. We went back and fourth for a couple of minutes and literally got nowhere. These people have no idea what it's like to be professional, or how to treat paying customers with respect. I am beyond disappointed with my service at serenity. I was charged 80$ (not including tip) on a fill for gel nails. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and this is what I got. I did not want to complain, but when I called the next time just inquiring about the price of a normal fill in she said 50$. However everyone was very friendly, the place was clean and it was busy. They did accommodate me walking in but afterward they were slammed with appointments so I likely got lucky based on the time of day. Good manicure but you can find just as good for cheaper elsewhere. I am so pleased with the service in this salon. I have been getting gel manicures for about 4 years. I have bounced around from salon to salon and I have stayed put with this one. The staff are amazing at their craft and so kind. My gel mani always lasts OVER 2 weeks which is AMAZING!!!! The pedicure area is clean (along with the rest of the salon) and the chairs are so comfy. I will never go back to this salon again. I sit down for pedicure and immediately my tech is watching the tv over my head. She went to file my toes and I asked for them to be clipped... No file was my response. I then said, I like them short please clip... Continued filing then went on to clip other toes... With that being said my two big toes were different length.. Which I asked her to correct. She files. Razor rub the bottom of my feet - back to watching tv. Within a wk my toes need to be done again... When they're not clipped short enough the pedi does not last. Sometimes my mani pedi is for me, other times it's an event in which I'm paying top dollar for a job well done. I was very upset with how the owner treated me. I paid $80 for mani/pedi for me and my daughter who is 10. They did not accept tip on my card, so I went to the car to get cash. The owner screamed to me on as I was half way into the street "Excuse me, Did you tip my girls"? I was shocked and embarrassed that she would even follow me out of the salon and insist such a thing. This is low class and the owner is a racist. I called ahead for a GEL manicure/Pedicure (& be sure to specify that you want both to be GEL) now I don't like to call people races or what not because I like to give everybody the benefit of the doubt. Now the first time I visited this supposed to be upscale nail salon I got a bad vibe from the (MANAGER) but I gave the salon a second try since it's close by my house. When I arrive I was advised to pick out a color now remind you I called ahead and request GEL and wen I was pointed to the regular polish I requested the gel polish instead bc I wanted to be sure not to fall in love with a color that wasn't in GEL. The Owner walked me to the back and handed me the gel swatches however doing my pedicure I was giving regular polish even tho Gel was already on my toes. Now I wasn't watching the young lady bc I wanted to trust her to do her job (& I can be a little particular if I hover) so I say to the girl I asked fr gel over the phone and when I arrive so she walks over to the owner who said nothing bc now she has a customer. So as I'm walking to the table I notice the polish has messed up of course and that one nail is broken and on the other toe another nail is cracked probably from her filing so hard on the soft nail. So fast forward to me paying I keep my cool during my manicure and refused the complimentary massage bc I was so heated and ready to leave. The owner comes to check me out and asked if I would like to leave a tip on the card and I refused and she said a to me oh do u hve cash and I asked for what and she said a to me for the tip. I calmly stated I'm not leaving a tip and would like for you to hand my card. She then said to me well she did spend and 1hr with you... THE NERVE OF HER.. I asked her are you forcing me to leave a tip for a service that I did not receive I also asked for gel and she did give it to me & I hve to toe nails broken and regular polish that will smudge and her response was you didn't ask for gel on your toes even tho I called ahead and scheduled both gel mani/pedi & once I arrive I asked her fr the gel swatches which she handed to me. She replied to me that I needed to tell the girl I wanted a GEL MANI & a GEL PEDICURE.. This "salon" is by far the WORST place I have ever had my nails and toes done. I came in for a gel pedicure and I already had gel on my toes. The girl who spoke little to no English, only Spanish, soaked the polish off, gave me a typical pedicure, and when I asked her when I can actually soak my feet she answered, "later". What?? So I let it slide and let her do her thing. She took forever and was not gentle. The massage was mediocre as she was watching the other things going on in the salon. So over an hour later I move over to another Spanish speaking girl who was going to do my nails. I asked for tips with gel. She said that extensions were better, so I went with it. She made my nails so thick and bumpy. While in the chair, I kept asking her to make them thinner and flat, and she said she wasn't done yet. I gave her a chance to finish her work. She polished and they were still beyond thick, bumpy and wide as can be. I went to the register to pay, the lady there asked me how everything was. I told her I wasn't very happy with how my nails looked. She said "oh the color is pretty". Didn't ask if I wanted them redone. Then had the audacity to say the total for your nails is $90!!!!! Are you kidding me?? I've read previous reviews saying how expensive this place was. Should have listened! Do yourself a favor and go someplace else. The co-owners, (mother) Grace and (daughter) Chris are lovely and will try to accommodate each clients request. The staff is well trained and eager to please. The salon is very clean and I've not experienced any problems with getting an appointment whenever I've called. I've even been taken for a mani when I've just dropped in without an appointment a few times, though I had to wait a few minutes, it was nice to be taken. I have had manis, pedis and waxing during my years I've been a customer here (since they opened). They have a nice selection of polishes to choose from and are eager to help if you can't find the color you're looking for. Every mani includes a nice hand, finger and partial arm massage and a hot towel wrap. The price for a mani is better then other salons in the area. I really like the location, the facility, and the quality of service. For a reasonable price you can get a good quality manicure and/or pedicure. I have had two gel manicures that have lasted weeks without showing any signs of needing repair. My only complaint is with the owner, Grace. She is not very customer service oriented. She's so motivated by filling up appointments and taking as many people as possible that she'll make people wait to pay so that she can finish someone else's polish (she normally doesn't perform services at all). Used to be great... in recent months a big change. The older lady acts like a prison guard and her English is horrible. The worst part is that teens pay the same as adults and are treated with no respect. My daughter went there and made an appt with our preferred nail tech. When she got there she gave her to a woman with gold teeth who smiled when my daughter told her she was hurting her and then later we found out she isn't certified. My daughter took me for a pedicure to enjoy a girl's day. I was a little hesitant because​ I suffer from psoriasis which is not contagious but doesn't look pretty. It's one of the nicer nail salons in the area, I've been there a couple of times where it was great but my last visit was terrible. My mom and I had an appointment at 5:30 and they didn't start us until 6:00. We had made an appointment for gel manicures and pedicures. Finally after a long wait we sat down to start the pedicures and we had to tell the ladies again that we wanted gel. They exchanged looks, sighed and went to get the owner. At this point the lady that was doing my moms pedicure didn't know how to do a gel pedicure so we were waiting for another one that knew how to do it. At this point we were so frustrated that we just told them regular pedicures were fine. After the pedicure we had to be there about an hour or more and we didn't even get started on our manicures. My mom wanted tips, so she had asked the owner if it was ok since we waited so long and didn't get a gel pedicure. you would think she would say yes, but she continued to say no because we didn't have an appointment for it. To top it off she had a terrible attitude. Then the owner continued to have an attitude while we were paying. It's a shame because they do have a nice place. STAY AWAY - not even a star the worst pedicure I ever went for - the pedicure took 10 minutes my appt was at 12:30 they took me at 12:40 and I was done at 12:50.
