Was looking for a new massage spot with more focus on the feet and I was a bit hesitant when looking at their pictures on yelp but with the place having 4 stars and 200+ reviews, I had to give it a try. I walked-in on a saturday afternoon during the end of october without a reservation and the place was busy and loved that they decorated for halloween. All of the public area massage beds/tables were filled but they were able to get me started within 10 minutes. I paid 35$ for a one hour body/foot combo massage. My masseuse james started by having my soak my feet in a warm bucket of water which was then followed by an intense but needed foot massage. This lasted for 10 - 15 minutes until james had me lie face down to work on my neck, shoulders, mid/lower back, thighs, and calves. This lasted for about 15 - 20 minutes. I then laid face up and james did even more work on my head, neck, and shoulders. 35$ well spent. Highly recommend. read more

It could be from the fact that I overthink or I'm just non-stop working all day but if I got a dollar from each day that I was actually, really stressed then I'd be a millionaire by now. I strive to pamper myself at least twice a month and during the my darker days (when Harmony Day Spa along Valley closed down), I came across this spot. Their combo (60 min body + 30 min foot) that's priced at $45 is worth every single penny considering the fact that they use hot stones to literally melt the tension and soreness away. The best part is that I met my girl, Coco here. Coco is legit probably the best masseuse I've had in Los Angeles. She makes sure that the pressure's right and she also knows exactly which parts of your body hurt the most. Man, you go serenity's Coco! She's the only one who's allowed to massage me whenever I go so please make sure not to have her massage you when I decide to go, lol. P.S. This is by far my favorite massage spa in the SGV. I love that the inside looks clean, the staff are professional and wear scrubs, and the prices are fair for what you get. Although I have received a service from walking in, I highly recommend making a phone call ahead of time or making an appointment. Since my job requires me to be on my feet for 12 hours, I've been looking for a place that gives foot massages. I've searched elsewhere where they do have foot massages, but it's pretty much 10 min or so on the feet and the rest is on the body. For me, I really wanted a place that does an emphasis on the legs and feet. So I finally checked this place out with my friend and I was very pleased with the foot reflexology package. For only $20/hr you get about a good 30 min on your feet, and then the rest is head, shoulders, back, and legs. Despite the fact that I didn't get more than 30 minutes on my feet, I was still pretty pleased. My feet and legs felt so much more relaxed. The guy who did my massage, Lee, was pretty good. He had the right amount of pressure and was friendly. Overall, I would recommend this place. Be sure to tip them well. I gave a $20 tip because he really worked his heart out on me. My husband and I were looking for a nearby spa for a massage and we stumbled upon Serenity Spa through Yelp. We availed of the massage package that included 30 min foot and 30 min body massage. Both masseuses were male and were very skillful at kneading and relaxing our tired aching muscles. My husband particularly liked the foot massage. Although the massage itself was a pleasant experience, I am giving this place 2 stars for the following reasons: -the masseuses' hands smelled like cigarette smoke (we had to take a shower right away because we smelled like smoke right after) -they did not bother to ask us the type of pressure that we preferred -when my husband was about to pay, the lady/cashier did not give his change right away. Our total was $60 for the 2 massages and my husband gave $100. The lady automatically assumed that we were tipping them $20 each which prompted my husband to demand for the change. He even asked if there was a minimum for the tip wherein she replied that there was none. We believe that this was very unprofessional since customers have the right tip whatever amount they decide is worthy of the service. Don't think we'll be coming back. read more

A friend brought me to Serenity Spa for a "foot massage". I had no idea what that would entail, but I thought it was a great idea. That hunch was definitely not wrong. The interior was surprisingly spacious and clean, with calming music and large, comfortable, cushioned, reclining chairs for massage. Yes, that's a lot of adjectives, but I need to throw a mental picture out there. "Foot massage". It's not JUST a foot massage. You get your feet soaked in hot water, while your masseuse gives you a head, shoulder, and arm massage. Then you get a foot and lower leg massage on each side. You turn around and they give you a hip and back massage. THEN you get more on the arms and neck. Wow... I thought I'd be paying a premium for this. Guess how much this 60 minute "foot massage" costs? $15. Yes... one... five... This amazing massage became even more amazing after I found out the price. I cannot rave about Serenity Spa enough. I first went to this spa based on yelp review. My first impression was good: cleaner than other spas in the area. The therapists dressed professionally, and there was no TV on, and the space was very relaxing (except for the occasional walk-ins you'd hear the receptionist have a conversation with). 1st time: random massage therapist. Good job! 2nd time: random massage therapist. Terrible! He didn't pay much attention, and I didn't like his rubber gloves touching me. 3rd time: this time I decide to give it a 3rd chance, and requested for a massage therapist, Coco, who was recommended by other Yelp reviewers. I did the Combo B, $35 (but it was actually $40). *I have to say, she turned my opinion around and I would definitely be back! She was skilled and polite and speaks English well. I don't have to deal with male smokers (which you can smell cigarettes on their fingers when they work on you). She was just as strong as the males and very good at ready what your body needed. This place does prefer that you pre-call and make an appointment, and I would say go with Coco or another recommended therapist instead of chancing it with someone not good. Stop number 23 on the SG $15 foot message odyssey landed me at Serenity. As others have noted, this place is brand spanking new. Even the bathrooms were spotlessly redone. Don't be fooled by the rundown exterior. Like most of the other 1000 foot message places in the area, the quality of your message can vary depending on who you are matched up with which for me.. i'd rate slightly above average. I guess what makes Serenity on the higher end is the cleanliness. It was such a nice change of place to situated on a brand new message chair :). My friend and I came here after eating at Mama Lu's since we were looking for a massage to start the new year. I missed the street to turn in at first because the parking lot is through a small alley, but we eventually found our way. We walked in from the back and a lady greeted us. They asked us which massage we would like and showed us the board with prices. We decided to do the 60 minute body + 30 minute foot massage combo ($30). They led us to the front in a room lined with big comfy chairs. We were seated and removed our shoes as they gave us a bucket of warm water to soak our feet in. Then our respective masseuse came and reclined our chairs. She massaged my head, neck, and shoulders before drying my feet and massaging my feet with lotion and gloves. I'm a little ticklish on my feet so it made me cringe a little. She spend maybe half an hour on my foot until going back to my body. She had me turn on my back and massaged my shoulders (which was the best part because my shoulders and neck has probably a million knots). It really felt like she was rubbing all of them out of me. I was almost sad when it was over. I loved the serene sound of the water and soft music in the background until some customers came in towards the end. They gave us a cup of water before leaving and I tipped them $10 since it was all the cash I had left. They have a $2 charge for cards. It was a nice experience. She also massaging my shins constantly, there is nothing to massage on my shin, it was my calves she should've worked on. They also don't remove the towel they dry your feet off with, so your legs are laying on a soaking wet towel throughout the feet/legs portion which gets the cushion wet as well. A bunch of chairs close to each other in a big room with bright lights and squeaky chairs is exactly how to describe this place. I usually go to Rose Massage in Long Beach (best place ever and decently priced), I asked for a 90 min full body massage. 5 minutes into the massage I noticed the guy was in a rush and had no rhythm. He kept digging his elbow randomly into my body without assessing for any stiffness or knots. I felt like it was all random pushing and patting my back without proper technique. I kindly asked to reduce my 90 minute massage to 30 minutes. One of the owners asked if I would like a new masseuse and I kindly rejected as I was already unimpressed. Quite possibly the worst cheap massage place in Monterey Park. There are a million places around here that are better. The lack of professionalism in their masseuses is appalling. They will offer you a free pelvic massage without asking and how about borderline assault by clawing your nuts while they're at it. I had to yell at the guy to stop clawing my junk. Get people who are trained professionally and not any Joe blow from Asia off the street to take care your clients. Not worth the headache and the trauma. Came here for a massage on a Saturday night since the other places my friends recommended were all booked up. Made an appointment 30 minutes before arriving and when we went in, there were only two other customers there. That is a sign that the massage may not go well... We got an hour long foot massage (which included massaging the neck and back) which was overall quite subpar. The actual foot portion of the massage was comfortable and soothing. However, the neck and back portion was utterly painful (I still feel my neck ache a full 24hrs later). I repeatedly told the masseuse to use light pressure.. and she did the opposite and literally threw her body weight on me while massaging my neck...I get that some customers may like a lot of pressure for their massages, but the masseuse should use pressure accordingly to the size of the person..... To be honest I wasn't expecting too much out of this massage given the price, but was definitely not expecting to come out feeling pain! Bottomline, if you enjoy a cost effective massage with a lot of pressure and not too much technique, then this is the place. Pretty shady looking place. We entered from the back of the establishment. They also don't do couples massages here. My boyfriend and I came for a deep tissue massage. The lady I had really got into my knots. It was amazing. I was sore for the whole day. My boyfriend told me he felt like the man didn't like him. That's how firm the masseuse handled him.
