The drought is over. You absolute mad hatters for putting a Ruben on a bagel. Absolutely smashed it. If you look at my reviews I haven't been the nicest to bagel shops around these parts. Going into Hyde park I didn't think they would be the saviors for the genre but they have gone and done it. A smash and grab operation. Swept me off my feet with an Asiago bagel with Ruben fillings (yeah they toasted it and applied all toppings themselves. Even cut it...other shops, take note) But yeah an odd order but it worked out so well. I loved it. Also tried a regular everything bagel and it did everything it needed to do. Hit all aspects of what a bagel needs to be and delivered. (Not pictured) Now you may see the photo of a purple bagel with blue cream cheese...did I order this, absolutely not. Did it kinda hit...yes...yes it did. Heres the deal chat, I will try weird things but I do need to also try to basics, like an everything bagel to really gauge things. This spot ripped. Prices are good too, 11 bones for a Ruben bagel. Yeah yeah I'll take that. A fun suprise and a location that will see me more often trying new things. I am always on the search for a good breakfast sandwich with sausage, egg and cheese on a bagel. So far where I live.I have not been able to find one that I truly crave and all the ones that I do are a pretty good hike from our house. Sesame isn't exactly close either, however, it is ina location that I go often enough that if I'm having a craving and theirs turned out to be good I could grab one while doing my other errands. I was greeted immediately upon entering and they waited patiently for me just to review the menu once again as I have looked last night online. The inside area is very small and only has four tables, which are lined by a wall of a shared bench so I stood there waiting for my order to be completed. My order came up pretty quickly and I took it outside to sit down and enjoy as there are many more seats that line the sidewalk. It was a lovely morning outside so sitting there and enjoying the sandwich was perfectly fine with me. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that when I unwrapped my sandwich.There were two eggs and two pieces of sausage on my bagel. Originally, I had thought that the price was a little high even though it is in Hyde Park, but given that I had 2 eggs on it if you order those out for breakfast anywhere nowadays, they are $2 to $3 each. Add on the cost of the sausage and the sandwich is very, very reasonably priced. Before leaving, I needed to use the restroom facilities in which I was having a difficult time getting the door to lock and another patron walked up and told me to shut the door really hard and I'd be able to lock it. So be mindful of that little trick because pulling on, it does not allow it to lock. It just needs to be pushed harder into the door frame. The barista's and employees are always cheerful and pleasant to order with. The space is very clean and chill to work from. We came in for the first time and were able to grab a table inside. We ordered two sandwiches, one bacon egg cheese and one BLT with avocado. Both were good. I was so happy they had egg bagels! That's not typical. Everything was pretty quick and they had plenty of staff working on a Saturday morning to make ordering and cooking efficient. Space is small but there's some seating outside to seat as many as possible. One thing I will say is that it was quite expensive. $55 for two bagel sandwiches and two coffees seems a bit high. I stopped by Sesame for a casual breakfast with a friend. I love the location in Hyde Park Village! The interior of the restaurant is very cute and earthy. Staff are very friendly! I ordered the smoked BLT sandwich which has bacon, lettuce, tomato, Swiss cheese and jalapeño cream cheese. I got it on a jalapeño bagel because they were out of the everything bagel. The sandwich normally comes on an egg bagel, but you can choose any bagel without an extra charge. I thought the bagel itself was okay but honestly a bit dry. The bacon was very crispy, and I liked the cream cheese, though I thought it could've had more jalapeño flavor. I really enjoyed the M.bird's guava cooler which had guava, mint, and lemon. You can get a mimosa on a weekday-and I'm here for it! I used Yelp to find "bagels by me" and this came up. I'm so glad for the tip because, as often as I'm in Hyde Park, I had never seen this shop. It's one street east of the Hyde Park Village main drag, on Oregon-on the east side of the garage closest to West Elm... and right next to Ro. (did you follow all of that?) lol So, after I parked in the adjacent free garage and walked downstairs, there was Sesame. There are three or four small tables out front on the sidewalk-and a leafy view across the dead end street that leads to the garage. It's sort of secluded and peaceful on that side of things. I've gone twice-once on a rainy morning and once on a sunny morning-and the ambiance both times, was lovely. It was busy both times, but not hectic. Most of the orders were to go, so I had no problem finding a seat at one of the four or so tables. Both times I had the Asiago bagel, toasted and with butter and it was super tasty. I love the texture, the "done-ness," the flavors. It was so good the first time, I had to order it a second time... so, so yum. And both times, I paired it with the mimosa-they give you a champagne split and you grab a mini orange juice bottle from the grab-n-go case. It's such a sparkly touch. The service has been friendly and prompt. Both times they were really well staffed. There seems to be a loyal group of regulars-who live and/or work nearby. There's a mysterious side door... that's part of an adjacent business. I'll leave it at that. (Wink, wink, nudge, nudge) Hope you get a chance to try it. Parking is very busy and limited in the area so it was tricky trying to find parking but once we did we headed over. The inside is small but they have seating inside and out. I Loved the bagel selection I think they have something for everyone plus looking over the menu and I wouldn't say the pricing is terrible. We got a Plain bagel toasted with Cookie Monster spread which I can tell you right now it's sweet! You get the cream cheese flavor but not something you want to eat right when wake up. We also tried the Everything bagel toasted with Lox & Dill that I personally loved the flavor was spot on and the spread had some texture to it which was a nice bite. We also tried the rainbow bagel with butter that wasn't bad but the texture was throwing me off idk if the food coloring messed with the dough but it had a different chew than the other bagels. Breakfast bagels this morning were average (it was quite busy) but got the reuben breakfast bagel on jalapeño last week and that was yummy! They also have free water flavored with fresh fruits available everyday. I'd recommend the everything bagel for breakfast sandwiches and for cream cheese bagels get the French toast! Haven't tried the coffee but they have a full on espresso machine and each latte they pump out looks great! Also all the workers are super nice and fast working. I've gone to this location several times and it's always fast and fresh! I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a rainbow bagel and it was full, so you definitely get a good amount of food. I also got a caramel latte and it has become one of my favorite spots for coffee because it's always smooth and flavorful. I took off one star however because they charge extra $1 for flavoring, and $1.50 for any dairy substitute. The latte always tastes good but it's hard to justify spending $8.50 for a drink. It's a new bagel shop in Hyde Park Village that's kind of hidden. You'd never know it was there unless you park in the garage on the Oregon Avenue side. Otherwise, just walk up to the corner where "Ro" (another Three Oaks Hospitality restaurant) is located and turn right. It's just past the new speakeasy called Jekyll. It's kind of bizarre, and maybe a little interesting that the secret door to Jekyll is inside of Sesame. An open sesame, maybe? There's a lot of mixed reviews for this bagel shop. I thought the service was good. I placed my order, and received it within 10 minutes on a week day morning. There's very limited seating inside. I'd say about 4 tables that are all crammed into one corner of the shop. I think I saw 3 outdoor tables that are uncovered. It was raining, and the tables were wet. It wasn't a deal breaker because the local bagel location that I frequent doesn't have any seating. It ended up being a take away order. These bagels are advertised as Long Island bagels. Honestly, I don't know the difference between Long Island and New York bagels. All I know is that the whole grain bagel (tasted like rye) was actually very good. I also liked the lox and dill cream cheese. I'd get the same exact bagel and spread again and again. The dill had a fresh taste. I really liked it. The lox was there, but not too overpowering. I thought about getting the Smookler sandwich which has pickled shallots, lox, and a scallion spread. It's about $14 for the sandwich, which I don't think is too terribly bad. It's maybe a few dollars more than my local bagel shop. I just wanted to try the lox and dill spread first before moving on to the sandwich. It was a good decision. I'll return to try other menu items. The jalapeño cream cheese made with flambéed jalapeños is calling my name. That may have to be a part of my next order. read more

We tried egg and cheese on an egg bagel (sans the ketchup they recommend ) and egg salad and avocado on a sesame bagel from Sesame in Hyde Park Village. The egg and cheese was definitely the favorite! I was so surprised to finally get the opportunity to visit this place during the Sunday Fresh Market, as I had only ever seen it with a line out the door each previous time I was in the area. However, there wasn't a line outside on this occasion, so my friend and I took the opportunity to finally try it out. Unfortunately, even without the line, we still had to wait for quite a while for our two bagel sandwiches to be ready - around 25-30 minutes. Because of this and the atmosphere inside not feeling very inviting, I probably won't return unless I'm in Hyde Park randomly on a weekday. Ahhh, I was super excited for this one, but was unfortunately disappointed. Like many others, was eager to try based on the fact this is advertised as an authentic NY style bagel shop, but the bagels are reminiscent of very average bagels in this area. With the rainbow bagels available too, it actually reminded me so much of 18 Bagels which closed within the last year or so. I got the Hyde Park on a plain bagel. Had heard a lot about this place on social media and as a former Long Islander, I wanted to check it out. My boyfriend ordered a French toast bagel with banana fosters cream cheese. He said the cream cheese had great flavor but the bagel was a bit too chewy. My mom and I had BEC on a whole wheat bagel. It was decent but the bagels weren't especially fabulous. If I could only describe Sesame in three words, it would be "PRICE GOUGERS GALORE." Luckily, I am not limited to only 3 words. Let's start with the process to order a bagel. It is a Sunday morning, and the Sunday Farmer's Market, so a restaurant group as established as this one should anticipate a crowd and staff accordingly. That simply was not the case. There were a total of 3 1/2 people working behind the counter, and only one person temporarily on register (hence the 1/2 person, because their focus was divided between taking orders and preparing orders). I waited in line for 35 minutes before making it to the register. During this time, sesame bagels ran out and were not restocked by the time I left (an hour later)-- go figure, considering that is their namesake. My favorite part of the wait? Watching UberEats orders be fulfilled while customers went unacknowledged at the door and waited for their in-person orders to be fulfilled. If you know it will be a busy day, which they 100% should have, and you know you cannot handle the crowd, then you need to close down your online ordering platforms and prioritize the customers that are in front of your face. One everything bagel with "speciality" cream cheese (a.k.a. not plain), a bacon, egg and cheese bagel, and a butter croissant cost $22 and my patience. The everything bagel better resembled a plain bagel that was baked on a pan that everything bagels had once been baked on; the seasoning was so scant that there was hardly any to fall off of the bagel. The bagel was not toasted, which I asked for, and it desperately needed to be toasted because it was cold and chewy. Thank goodness I paid extra for specialty cream cheese because that was the only thing giving the bagel flavor. The bacon, egg and cheese bagel was quite obviously made with fake eggs. Again, the bagel was not toasted, so the only texture came from the bacon. It also lacked cheese. Mediocre at best. The croissant was cold and hard. There's no doubt in my mind that the croissant was at least a day old and was not made on premises. In all honestly, the croissant tasted like a Pillsbury crescent roll on Dec. 26. While I did not get a drink, I would not encourage anyone to get one. Why? Because while all their coffees and teas are $4 or $6 before adding specialty milk and flavors, this includes hot tea which is made using Bigelow tea bags that you could buy a box of at Publix for $4 (each bag costs roughly $0.20). Talk about price gouging! From start to finish I spent 52 minutes at Sesame. The entire time I was in the restaurant nothing was cleaned. High chairs were not removed, half- eaten pickles remained on the floor for customers to slip on, and cream cheese smears made tables sticky. This was a frustrating, disorganized, and disappointing dining experience; definitely not an ideal start to my Sunday. Anyone who says this is NY/NJ bagel concept is either lying to themselves or has never been to NY/NJ and had a bagel. Einsteins Bagels, Brueggers Bagels, or even a grocery store bagel are comparable, if not better, than Sesame. read more

It did not take too long to order which I was happy about. The gentleman who took my order was pretty short. Since it was busy, I figured he was just trying to get to the next customer. Still could have been better service though. Some of our coffees were so full you couldn't put the straw in. That was pretty annoying. Also, there were no napkins. Zaye helped us with all our needs. Tampa native who is saddened by the loss of good quality family-owned bagel shops over the years, so I had to give this a shot OTW to the office. Didn't see a salt bagel, so I kindly asked if they made them, got the nastiest smirk from the woman behind the counter as if I offended her, so I settled with a BEC on a plain bagel and the smallest hot latte they served (maybe 8oz). Very standard order. Rang me up for $19.93...... Wow, I had a mini heart attack out of pure surprise, you have to try and spend that much at a sit-down breakfast like Blake Caspers Oxford Exchange. I was in NYC last summer and got the same order (with a proper Salt bagel) for the same price at world renowned Liberty Bagels by Central Park. Driving the few blocks to the office, I'm thinking "alright this breakfast is going to be great and will fill me up to a level of content for the rest of the day, Its got to be good" LoL. If you like hard, left-out overnight bagels and soupy, watery eggs that don't taste well and fall out of your sandwich while taking a bite. This is your place. Will not return, do not recommend one bit unless you want to spoil your dog with a birthday treat out in the street. read more

Once I arrived the ambiance was a bit chaotic, super packed and the employees were a little overwhelmed and flustered. I got an egg, cheese and sausage bagel that was good. My husband got a single bagel with spread, it was a little bland and they put way to much spread on the bagel. I would give them a try again and pick a day when it is less packed. read more

There's a lot of excitement around the opening of Sesame in Hyde Park. They advertise as a New York style bagel shop that sources it's bagels from Long Island. I was excited to try them out, and I wasn't the only one, the line was down the block on a Saturday morning! In total the wait was 50 minutes. I'm sad to say I was disappointed. The bagels tasted like they were from the grocery store, definitely not the New York bagels I grew up on. The consistency felt like the bagels hadn't been baked through fully. I didn't try any of their sandwiches so I can't comment on those. I will give the staff props for keeping up with the insane volume, they were going nonstop.
