    #9 - 1 fish, 3 scallops & chips
    Anthony P.

I saw this place on Yelp and had to check it out. I went outside of prime meal times and there was only one person working. I was also the only customer there. He promptly took my order and then started cooking. I ordered the #9 - 1 piece of fish, 3 scallops, and chips as well as a side order of chicken tenders. The order came with a packet of malt vinegar and containers of tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, and ranch dressing. Everything was fried properly (no floppy fries) and tasted good, although I would have preferred that they salted the fries. This place is no-frills and the dining room is sterile/plain, but that's okay! Orders are placed at the counter, and the menu offers a variety of fried foods. They also sell Mitchell's ice cream for dessert. This place is for people who want a quick meal or takeout.

Ordered pickup so can't really comment on service or atmosphere aside from it was 10 mins from when I placed my order to when the food was ready so that was nice and just seeing the interior and parking lot when I stopped by. Plenty of parking and it has an hamburger joint vibe to it. I ordered the Fish, Shrimp, Oyster, and Scallop combo. Probably my fault for not figuring out that it includes chips too since it was in the combo section but the fact that they don't specify it threw me off so I ended up ordering another small side of chips. Oops. They included a container of cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, several packets of ketchup, and one of malt vinegar. Would have been nice to get some extra containers but I managed. Everything was tasty and the quality of their fry was excellent, moreso because I picked it up 10 mins after it was done and another 15 min drive home. The battering maintained it's crunchiness, which is great! My gripe here is with their chips. Generally I'm disappointed in this style of chips but they lacked enough salt, which really made them taste bland. On top of it they were cold by the time I ate, which is a bit surprising since everything else was still a good temperature. I'll be back again, especially since they serve Mitchell's ice cream, which I somehow missed when I ordered online but will pass on getting any chips.

Very good fish and chips. Love this place. Co worker told me about it and gave it a try. Great service and its a nice little whole in the wall place.

Side of Chicken and a few of the Fried Zucchini

2.5 stars. I recently ordered the Fish & Oyster Combo included fries along with a side of fried zucchini, and the two-piece chicken side. I appreciate the kind service and could tell the oil used for frying was fresh, which is always a plus. However, I did notice a few issues with the preparation. Most of the items I received were overcooked. The fish, in particular, was quite greasy and had a very thick batter that overwhelmed the flavor. The oysters were actually pretty decent in comparison. The zucchini was extremely greasy as well, and while I understand fried vegetables can be on the oily side, this felt a bit excessive. The fries were overdone and lost their texture. The chicken portion was fair in size (four small pieces instead of two larger ones), but unfortunately, it was dry. The tartar sauce didn't quite stand out--it tasted like a store-bought version rather than something freshly made. Overall, the portion sizes were fine, and I appreciated the freshness of the oil, but the consistent overcooking and heaviness of the food made the meal less enjoyable than I'd hoped.

Note: I'm not sure why the hours show as closed, but I drove by on a Sunday and it was open. Parking: Ample parking, they have their own lot. Atmosphere: Very casual and chill. They have some tables and seats inside. The owner is a really nice lady and she let me bring my dog inside so that I didn't have to leave him in the car while waiting for my takeout order. Food: I ordered the set that comes with 1 fish, 2 shrimps, 2 oysters, and 2 scallops. I also ordered a side the fried zucchinis. Everything tasted great! The fries are a bit soggy, but I feel this is how they are at any fish and chips restaurant. The order also comes with all the condiments (ranch I think for the zucchinis, tartar sauce, lemon slices, salt packet, malt vinegar, shrimp cocktail sauce, and ketchup. The serving size is also a lot. This alone was enough to feed at least 2 people (possibly more for small appetites). Definitely will be going again.

A relatively new F&C spot in the area. The decor is very simple but the food is worth the price of admission. I do like the incentive of a discount if you pay with cash! I will definitely be back to try out their hushpuppies!

Seto Fish & Chips is a family owned local business located right by Seto Japanese Restaurant. They share the same parking lot. The interior is simple, and the color scheme is orange and cream colored walls. They have just one picture of their product. One restroom inside only. LCD screen displaying their menu. They also serve Mitchell's Ice Cream! The service is friendly and quick. Only a few customers at the time I visited. When your order is ready, they personally deliver it to you. #8 One fish & clam strips & chips. Nicely batter and fried to a golden brown. The fish was flakey and juicy. The clams were tender but crunchy from the golden brown fry. The chips were hot and crisp. Not oily. Good selection of fried foods and options.

Sleepy vibe, but the fried fish, oysters, and clams were well done. For me the Star was the cole slow. Thinly sliced cabbage and carrot and well flavored. They don't offer tap water. You have to buy their bottle water.

6/11/2024 Seto Fish & Chips 107 W Maude Ave Sunnyvale, CA 94085 I went there for lunch on a Tuesday. There's lots of parking around the buildings. It's a clean, order counter and table setup. I ordered and paid for a #8 Fish, Clams and Chips at the counter and it was promptly brought to my table with Ketchup, tartar sauce and malt vinegar packet. The fish was very good with a crispy batter coating and moist. The tartar sauce was also good. The clams had too much batter so I couldn't really taste the clams. The fries were plentiful but on the soggy side and could probably be improved at home with an air fryer. I may repeat but would only get the fish until the fries improve.

I really wanted to love this place, but it just didn't get it right for me. I really hope it improves. If a place is going to specialize in fish and chips I expect the quality bar to be good for all aspects of the dish, fish, batter, chips, sauces and they only really hit the bar on fish (which I do admit is the most important). Fish: The fish quality was pretty good. The batter could be a little less thick but generally the fish was cooked well and the batter was tasty, Miss: the fish came with vinegar but I think it would be up leveled with lemon instead to add a fresher taste. Fries/chips: really bad quality and lacked flavor. They were quite floppy and not so crispy and unsalted which really missed the bar. The quantity was massive and honestly we ended up throwing the rest out. I would rather less chips and better quality. Definitely needed improvement. Sauces: Cocktail sauce: This tasted like ketchup with something added but not much. It was missing that horseradish tangy taste. Tartar sauce: Also lacking. This had barely any relish and tasted like water downed mayo. It lacked any acidic flavor. Calamari: this was ok. I didn't like the thick steaks, but it wasn't over cooked so I appreciated that. Overall the quantity for the price was good! They gave a ton of food, we didn't even finish it all. I honestly wish they gave less and upped their chips and sauce quality. Note they give a 4% discount for cash. Parking was easy and plentiful. Ambiance is fast causal and fine. The place has lots of windows which makes it bright and welcoming. I would return for the fish only and I would take away so I can have sauces at home.

Over-battered over-cooked soggy oily zucchini chips

The "calamari" did not taste, feel, or look real. It was tasteless and very rubbery and plastic-like in texture, and was evidently cut from a block of an unknown highly processed substance, into a long perfect rectagular cube. It didn't resemble squid meat or calamari, or fish, or any seafood I have ever encountered.i am more disappointed than I can remember ever being with a food substance On the batter. My to-go order was carried out in the cut-down case box of the Krusteaz Fish Batter. The oily bland taste and thick texture of the instant fish batter certainly matched the source Krusteaz. This is a lousy commercial source and no substitute for a scratch batter.

First thing I noticed was the batter. It was lighter than other fish and chips I've had. The batter was similar to tempura batter without the panko coating. Because the batter was lighter and thinner, it stayed crispy longer even after sitting inside the paper bag for over 15 minutes. I got #19 which had 1 fish, 2 scallops, 2 shrimp and 2 oysters with fries. The best was the scallops; sweet, perfectly cooked, not gummy. Fish was not as thick of a piece as other places but good and still soft; didn't have the freezer dry stringy texture. Never a fan of oysters but I imagine those who are would have enjoyed this one. It was not too briny nor slimy. It had a bread crumb coating instead of the tempura like batter. Nothing to note about the fries. Cocktail sauce and tartar sauce were included along with a packet of vinegar. Food came out quickly. They also serve Mitchell's ice cream. Got the mango and the ube flavors.for $5 per scoop. They give 4% discount if paying cash. Staff were nice and ready to take help. They're in their soft opening phase so not everything on the menu is available including the clam chowder. Minimal decor in the dining area but clean, bright and spacious. Glad to have a new fish and chips place in the area, and a good one too.

The #8: Delicately battered, delicious fillet of fish, served with delightfully tender clam strips served on a generous portion of fries.

I can honestly say that Seto Fish & Chips is not like any other Fish & Chip joint in the San Jose area, because it's really, really good. I get it, you've tried a lot of other places and had super greasy fish-approximate shaped batter blobs that tasted like they hadn't changed the grease in a month. Here, you actually taste the delicate flavor of the fish, with just enough batter to give it a crunchy outside. Heck, even the clam-strips actually taste of delicate and fresh clam as well as the slight sweetness of the cornmeal batter. Having grown up on the east coast, I missed having really good, high quality fish & chips, and Seto definitely delivers. (Heh, now if I can convince them to serve good hush puppies, well...) The fact that they also serve Mitchell's ice cream is the perfect way to end the meal. Portions are generous, and the staff are amazing. Save yourself a trip to Pismo and go here.

My sister and I shared a mini fish-trap combo, Caesar salad, and a cup of soup-- we had almost 30% leftover. The variety of seafood in the combo is really nice! But I thought the breading was soggy and in general just really needed the sauce for a punch of flavor. The fried zucchini was by far the best thing we ate (it was seriously to-die for), which feels wrong for a seafood combo. :P Service was friendly and were trying their best to help everyone, but wow we could tell they were super overwhelmed. :( Would not come back but glad I tried it, especially with such a neighborhood hype around this place!
