Likely one of the most disappointing restaurants I have been to in DC for some time. It was very crowed and constantly being bumped into by the staff. The food was so bad we had to send back one meal entirely. So for the ravioli was much too doughy and had no flavor. Entire menu exceedingly expensive. I needed a restaurant for a group of about 10 of us while I was in DC. It was hard not being from there because I just didn't know the area but Sette Osteria worked out fabulously! I made the reservation a few days ahead of time and Open Table would only let me do it for 8 people, but I was able to call and increase the number no problem. Their wine selection included glass, carafe, and bottle options for most wines which I thought was terrific. I saved up all my calories for the day for this meal and boy was I satisfied! I ordered the Sofia pizza which had the gorgonzola cheese on it and it was fantastic. I also had a bite of the apple tart dessert which was great but the real star of that dessert was the caramel gelato that was on the side. I also tried the Sette Delizia dessert which I actually didnt enjoy. I thought it was too doughy/savory of bread with nutella drizzled on it. If I want to eat just nutella and bread i'll go to town on just a regular old loaf. The woman sitting across from me ordered the burratta appetizer and I may spend my life regretting that I never asked for a bite, it looked so good. read more

I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant before coming here. Let me start this review out by mentioning that I've been to this restaurant a number of times in the past and loved it which is why I decided to bring my boyfriend here to celebrate his homecoming post deployment. I was so exited to bring him here since I knew both the food and wine selection was good...but boy did we have a terrible experience. The night started off well - we were quickly seated and ordered wine and an app to start. Our waitress took awhile to come back and check on us (which was a little surprising given that it wasn't too busy), but she finally came by to take our orders. Forty-five minutes after we placed our orders, we began noticing that everyone seated around us had already received and finished their food. The table next to us arrived after us, placed their order, received their food, and paid for their bill before we even got our food. With still just our glasses of wine on the table, our waitress came over to ask us how we enjoyed our food.... She didn't even realize we hadn't received it yet!! When we told her we hadn't received our food yet, she quickly ran off while saying sorry to check on our order (she never came back to share an update). For the next 20 minutes while we were still waiting, we pulled the manager aside to update her on the situation. She said she was going to go talk to our waitress and would be back shortly. The manager returned about 10 minutes later (we had finally received our food at this point) to share that she was sorry and the delay was on us since we had ordered an app. My boyfriend and I both looked at her dumbfounded - she was putting the blame on us since we had ordered a salad as an appetizer, so therefor we needed to wait an extra hour + to receive our main courses. The manager could tell we weren't reacting well, so she said we could get one free dessert. We knew right away that there wasn't a chance we were going to order and wait for our waitress to get us a dessert, so immediately wrote off that offer. At the end of the night when our waitress came by to give us our checks, she told us that she knew she did a bad job and that she completely understood if we didn't want to give her a tip and walked away. That's a BIG problem if you have to say that to your customers. Safe to say, I will not be returning to this restaurant and can't believe how terrible the service was. read more

What a great place to sit outside, eat, and people watch! The two of us arrived around 6:30 on a Friday night, and were seated at an outside table right away. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. My friend said this pasta tasted like what she ate in Rome. What more could you ask for? I had high hopes upon seeing the brick oven, but the sauce has no taste, which is too bad since the crust is decent. This place is so 'meh' that I don't even know what to write about it. An absolutely marvelous night! The food was delicious and the service awesome. Mehdi (spelling?) the manager and the hostess were so hospitable and warm as was our sever. We had pepperoni pizza, gnocchi, pasta carbonara, fried calamari and a cold cut plate with olives. Everything was cooked to perfection and the ambiance on the outdoor terrace wonderful. I am always surprised this restaurant has fewer stars. Is there better Italian food in DC? Sure there is, but it is very expensive! Sette Osteria is reasonably priced, has a great atmosphere (both in and outdoors), knowledgable and friendly staff, and a menu with good variety. I have ordered pizzas, chicken, and my favorite - spaghetti bolognese - and they have all been varying degrees of delicious. I have also tried several of the wines on the menu and have found them all to be good. I'm also a big fan of coming here for brunch. They have these nutella pancakes that are absolutely delicious and nice coffees too. I've been here many times and have never had a bad experience. To me that is the mark of a well-run solid place. Yes, you can find more unique food elsewhere, but I come here for comfort food and a nice atmosphere, and Sette does both of those very well. read more

I ordered the special of the day, BURRATA, which was amazing (Creamy fresh burrata cheese and tricolore tomato, arugula, avocado salad, drizzled with balsamic reduction). The cheese was very creamy and rich, which was perfectly complemented by the underlying avocado salad. For a main course, I ordered the INSALATA DI RUCOLA E FINOCCHIO with shrimp. I was satisfied with this order and the number of shrimp offered (~6). However, the cheese sliced into triangles was not a great match for the peppery flavor of the arugula salad. For those who love the decadent richness of true Osso Bucco... indulge yourself at Sette Osteria. I was completely taken off guard with what I encountered at this restaurant. I presumed I was going to get a bowl of pasta when I looked at the menu online, but made a last minute decision to get the Osso Bucco with truffle oil/mushroom risotto. The flavor of the veal was intensely rich, the bone stuffed with seasoned marrow, and the risotto well essenced with truffles, mushrooms and cream. While you'll pay extra for this dish, the portion was so large that with what I brought home... I had two meals out of one (and I'm not a light eater). That's not normally a positive comment about fine dining, but in this case, I was happy to revisit the deliciousness the next day in the comfort of my home. We were very pleased with the wonderful selection of homemade pasta . The dishes were plentiful and very tasty . The service was great as well and the prices were reasonable . There were 5 of us and everyone tried a different dish . I always try and order something I can not or do not make at home . I ordered the pumpkin filled ravioli . They were large and the sauce was sweet and delicious . All the pasta was perfectly cooked , a bit al dente . The red sauce was like my grandmother used to make . So , if they can master a red sauce they have done their job . And it was delicious . Also the decor is lovely , felt like being in Italy . read more

Food and service were excellent. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. Because I have a sensitivity to garlic, I was concerned about some of the dishes I had selected. Whenever we have time while visiting Dupont Circle, we eat at Sette Osteria. It has a very nice selection of Italian food, including a wide variety of pizza. We've never been disappointed and have always enjoyed everything we've ordered. The nightly specials are always worth looking at. Tonight I got gispacio and the flatbed instead of my usual pizza, and it was quite tasty. The service is always excellent. The atmosphere is nice inside and out if the weather justifies sitting under the large awnings. read more

it was the first really nice spring night and my friend and i were dying to eat/drink outside. and sette osteria fit the bill. a pretty large patio and big glasses of wine were exactly what we were looking for. the great pasta was a total bonus. perfect portion size, with room for tiramisu! and the pasta was light and satisfying without leaving that heavy carb feeling in your stomach. the only down side is if you are at a table near the windows that separate the patio from the inside you are literally inches from other diners. which is a little creepy. read more

Best Unlimited mimosas in Town and one of the best things is that they have a parking garage for free as long as you eat there and get the ticket stamp. All the staff is soooo great, they make us feel at home everytime we go and they have a couple of tv so you can watch sports. The food is really good and the price is fair. This has become my new go-to happy hour spot. They have happy hour daily (including Saturdays) and until 10 on Sundays and Mondays. The restaurant is always busy without being so packed you can't get to the bar and the drinks are well mixed and cheap ($5 wines and cocktails and $4 beers, my personal favorite is the mango martini, thought he sangria is also great) Plus the plethora of food on the happy hour menu. Perfect if you're with a group of 3-4 and want to split and try a few different things. Everything I've tried has been delicious (I highly recommend the happy hour gnocchi, its simple and delicious and is the perfect amount for a light dinner). If you're looking for a solid happy hour and don't want to deal with the crowds at the trendier places this is perfect! read more

Visited the Dupont Circle location after my rave review for the 14th street location and was greatly disappointed. Upon entering, it took 15 minutes and several exchanged glances before I'm was finally serviced. After ordering the chicken carbonara, as I'd now done 2 times prior to the visit, I ask that they please include my bread to go. The bartender then goes to re-ring my order to charge me for a bread basket. I ask him to review my order because I've dined in and taken out and both times I received complimentary bread for my pasta. He returns with the manager, and states complimentary bread is not given to brunch orders (carbonara is not brunch), bar orders (the only option to order to go is at the bar...) and to go orders (from which I know not to be true, per my last to go order). I was disappointed in the handling and thought it would have reflected better on SO to add complimentary bread to the almost $30 order of pasta, with the understanding that future orders will require the bread basket to be charged the next time. read more

Woodfired pizzas are amazing and to die for. They are a little over priced, but since you have to go to Dupont for them it is to be expected. The best times to go are when its nice outside, because they have a great patio to sit on and enjoy the day. If you sit inside it is a little stuffy, but the amazing pizza makes you forget that once you start to eat. read more
