I needed a restaurant for a group of about 10 of us while I was in DC. It was hard not being from there because I just didn't know the area but Sette Osteria worked out fabulously! I made the reservation a few days ahead of time and Open Table would only let me do it for 8 people, but I was able to call and increase the number no problem. Their wine selection included glass, carafe, and bottle options for most wines which I thought was terrific. I saved up all my calories for the day for this meal and boy was I satisfied! I ordered the Sofia pizza which had the gorgonzola cheese on it and it was fantastic. I also had a bite of the apple tart dessert which was great but the real star of that dessert was the caramel gelato that was on the side. I also tried the Sette Delizia dessert which I actually didnt enjoy. I thought it was too doughy/savory of bread with nutella drizzled on it. If I want to eat just nutella and bread i'll go to town on just a regular old loaf. The woman sitting across from me ordered the burratta appetizer and I may spend my life regretting that I never asked for a bite, it looked so good. read more

Wonderful to discover another place we can dine out with a family member who has celiac disease: the menu features many GF options, and the kitchen staff takes great care to prevent cross-contamination. I took my friend here for Restaurant week and i was not disappointed. A top class place with a great wait staff. Although, we had no reservations, we were seated promptly at a nice table. The waitress took quick drink orders and we ordered a nice bottle of Rose. The food menu is great. We bypassed the Restaurant week menu and ordered from the main menu. The calamari and mussels were perfectly done. Calamari was juicy and tender. The main course, we ordered Sea Bass and Milanese Chicken. The Milanese was not too oily and I liked the texture of the breading. It was well cooked. We had a wonderful time and I will definitely come back here again. read more

We were very hungry after a day of sightseeing in D.C. and needed to "carb up" for a second day of adventure. We were looking for a pretty good pasta and pizza place when we came across Sette Osteria. Whoa!! We were totally impressed with the service and quality of food. My wife ordered the Penne Alla Russa, I ordered the Fettuccine Alla Bolognese, and my son ordered a pepperoni pizza. The sauce on the Penne was incredibly flavorful and not too heavy. The asparagus beautifully complimented the salmon that was part of the dish. My dish was rich and robust with a good amount of meat, but not too heavy. My son's pizza was probably one of the best pizzas I have had in a long time. The pizza was baked in a wood fired oven which gave the crust a nice smoky flavor. The mozzarella was creamy and can't ever go wrong with pepperoni. I would definitely recommend this this place to everyone!! read more

Avoid! I dined here this evening. While the food and service were fine, actions by the bussers were appalling! Two bussers were moving a table that was already set. A fork fell to the floor. The busgirl picked up the fork and put it back on the table. Right in front of us! Moments later a busboy started clearing the silverware from all the tables and added the fork that had been on the floor into a silverware organizer filled with clean silverware. Horrified, I asked to speak to the manager and explained what happened. Although the manager conveyed her apologies and thanked us for for letting her know, there was no immediate attempt to rectify the situation and as of the time that we left the restaurant the dirty fork remained commingled with the "clean" forks that would all likely get set on future tables. If this lack of cleanliness happens right in front of patrons, I shudder to think about what happens behind the scenes. read more

The service is great, the food is exceptionally tasty, does not mater what you order, it will be finely executed and delivered to your table. we are frequently visitors at Sette Osteria , and every time try something different, never got disappointed and always come back! Great place for kids as well. Our daughter loves this place and always it's her first and preferable choice to eat when we are going out- is Sette Osteria! Tried yesterday their dish from the Specials Menu (which was a lot to choose from): tried Red Snapper Fish. What a great dish! The fish was soft and yummy! the vegetables (potato, carrots) finely chopped and done well and blended well with sauce. Total- interesting presentation of the dish plate with tomato and fresh basil sauce around the fish. The vine choice is great. They offer great Italian vine and beer along with local US vines and vines from other countries! Have a bottomless choices on weekends. The dessert menu is great, I personally love Crème Brulle and Panna Cotta, but there are many other choices as well. The place is very clean, staff is very professional and nice. The owner, Mehdi, is very professional and nice person, who always makes sure you enjoy your meal and your stay and that everything is working well and customers are satisfied! What a great place to sit outside, eat, and people watch! The two of us arrived around 6:30 on a Friday night, and were seated at an outside table right away. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. My friend said this pasta tasted like what she ate in Rome. What more could you ask for? I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant before coming here. Let me start this review out by mentioning that I've been to this restaurant a number of times in the past and loved it which is why I decided to bring my boyfriend here to celebrate his homecoming post deployment. I was so exited to bring him here since I knew both the food and wine selection was good...but boy did we have a terrible experience. The night started off well - we were quickly seated and ordered wine and an app to start. Our waitress took awhile to come back and check on us (which was a little surprising given that it wasn't too busy), but she finally came by to take our orders. Forty-five minutes after we placed our orders, we began noticing that everyone seated around us had already received and finished their food. The table next to us arrived after us, placed their order, received their food, and paid for their bill before we even got our food. With still just our glasses of wine on the table, our waitress came over to ask us how we enjoyed our food.... She didn't even realize we hadn't received it yet!! When we told her we hadn't received our food yet, she quickly ran off while saying sorry to check on our order (she never came back to share an update). For the next 20 minutes while we were still waiting, we pulled the manager aside to update her on the situation. She said she was going to go talk to our waitress and would be back shortly. The manager returned about 10 minutes later (we had finally received our food at this point) to share that she was sorry and the delay was on us since we had ordered an app. My boyfriend and I both looked at her dumbfounded - she was putting the blame on us since we had ordered a salad as an appetizer, so therefor we needed to wait an extra hour + to receive our main courses. The manager could tell we weren't reacting well, so she said we could get one free dessert. We knew right away that there wasn't a chance we were going to order and wait for our waitress to get us a dessert, so immediately wrote off that offer. At the end of the night when our waitress came by to give us our checks, she told us that she knew she did a bad job and that she completely understood if we didn't want to give her a tip and walked away. That's a BIG problem if you have to say that to your customers. Safe to say, I will not be returning to this restaurant and can't believe how terrible the service was. read more

I am always surprised this restaurant has fewer stars. Is there better Italian food in DC? Sure there is, but it is very expensive! Sette Osteria is reasonably priced, has a great atmosphere (both in and outdoors), knowledgable and friendly staff, and a menu with good variety. I have ordered pizzas, chicken, and my favorite - spaghetti bolognese - and they have all been varying degrees of delicious. I have also tried several of the wines on the menu and have found them all to be good. I'm also a big fan of coming here for brunch. They have these nutella pancakes that are absolutely delicious and nice coffees too. I've been here many times and have never had a bad experience. To me that is the mark of a well-run solid place. Yes, you can find more unique food elsewhere, but I come here for comfort food and a nice atmosphere, and Sette does both of those very well. read more

I ordered the special of the day, BURRATA, which was amazing (Creamy fresh burrata cheese and tricolore tomato, arugula, avocado salad, drizzled with balsamic reduction). The cheese was very creamy and rich, which was perfectly complemented by the underlying avocado salad. For a main course, I ordered the INSALATA DI RUCOLA E FINOCCHIO with shrimp. I was satisfied with this order and the number of shrimp offered (~6). However, the cheese sliced into triangles was not a great match for the peppery flavor of the arugula salad. it was the first really nice spring night and my friend and i were dying to eat/drink outside. and sette osteria fit the bill. a pretty large patio and big glasses of wine were exactly what we were looking for. the great pasta was a total bonus. perfect portion size, with room for tiramisu! and the pasta was light and satisfying without leaving that heavy carb feeling in your stomach. the only down side is if you are at a table near the windows that separate the patio from the inside you are literally inches from other diners. which is a little creepy. read more

Best Unlimited mimosas in Town and one of the best things is that they have a parking garage for free as long as you eat there and get the ticket stamp. All the staff is soooo great, they make us feel at home everytime we go and they have a couple of tv so you can watch sports. The food is really good and the price is fair. He really makes Sette stand out with his extensive knowledge of the menu, drinks and the city. We felt so welcome and return all the time. We looked at the menu as we walked by during our recent visit; it looked inviting so we had dinner that night. My wife said her linguini and clams was the best she had since visiting Italy! Our server was as good as it gets - we went back the next night and even the following night for another fabulous meal. Our server remembered us from the first night (even what we had) and made it even more pleasant. The host came by the table twice to see that we were enjoying our meal. This has become my new go-to happy hour spot. They have happy hour daily (including Saturdays) and until 10 on Sundays and Mondays. The restaurant is always busy without being so packed you can't get to the bar and the drinks are well mixed and cheap ($5 wines and cocktails and $4 beers, my personal favorite is the mango martini, thought he sangria is also great) Plus the plethora of food on the happy hour menu. Perfect if you're with a group of 3-4 and want to split and try a few different things. Everything I've tried has been delicious (I highly recommend the happy hour gnocchi, its simple and delicious and is the perfect amount for a light dinner). If you're looking for a solid happy hour and don't want to deal with the crowds at the trendier places this is perfect! read more

Whenever we have time while visiting Dupont Circle, we eat at Sette Osteria. It has a very nice selection of Italian food, including a wide variety of pizza. We've never been disappointed and have always enjoyed everything we've ordered. The nightly specials are always worth looking at. Tonight I got gispacio and the flatbed instead of my usual pizza, and it was quite tasty. The service is always excellent. Food and service were excellent. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. Because I have a sensitivity to garlic, I was concerned about some of the dishes I had selected.
