i ordered take out tonight from this restaurant. When i got home the order was wrong. The wonton soup had broth but no wonton's and the chicken wings were still at the restaurant. I called the restaurant and they were apologetic and argumentative. They asked me for my number and the said the manager would call me. He just did. He also was argumentative and wanted me to know that I was not charge for the chicken wings so that makes it better that I did not get the food I ordered. I told him about the wonton less soup and he said the wontons were in a separate container that they forgot to put in my order. His solution was to give me free Chicken wings next time I stop by but still charge me for the wonton less soup. I will NEVER be back. read more

I have lived in North Kingstown for over a year now. Seven Moons has been our go to place for decent eats. However, it has gone down hill somewhat since we first visited. Wait staff is decent some better than others. The food quality can be less than desired at times. Maybe they have a new cook. Sushi is good and has been consistent. The last time we went for Lemongrass Chicken wings it seemed that these wings were cooked well ahead of time and just reheated and some sauce thrown on the top. So, not good at all. I guess depending on what you order and who is running the kitchen you can get a bad deal. When we first started going, this was never the case. Every time I tried to go to Seven Moons it was so busy and the estimated wait was over an hour. Except one time my husband and I were seated at the sushi bar and told to wait. The coaster thingy they give you never lit up. Needless to say, we never seen our waiter after we got our tea. I guess he just forgot about us. We ordered some spicy scallop rolls and out of honesty we asked to pay for them. Hell, our waiter never even knew. The sushi chef use to work for Haruki's restaurant for nine years. He spoke with us about how Haruki's has changed but he kept the recipe still the same for the spicy scallop rolls. After reading some negative food reviews I am Leary about going. OK let's start with group of 7 and the waiter was slow to come to the table. I asked for a "Blue Hawaii" drink which was not on the menu but waiter assured me they could make it. NOT. It came to the table it was 1) green 2) little or no alcohol. Usually exotic drinks you take one sip and you know there is alcohol in it. OK then we asked if we could have separate checks he was confused by this not sure if he didn't comprehend the language or if he was a new waiter. He eventually said yes but asked who's going to pay for the tea. Wait what???? i have never in my life paid for tea at a Chinese restaurant. I told him just put it on my bill. I asked for bread for the table and he very rudely told me they don't serve bread OK, get our meals he gave the wrong meal to all of us ie he couldn't remember who ordered what. I decided to get pork fried rice after he delivered dish. I asked him twice and finally asked a waitress going by the third time. I wanted a small side of this. He brings a gigantic dish which I later found out was over $10 dollars. I was already finished with my meal by the time I got this. I was disgusted by the service and the attitude so I did something I rarely do I left NO tip. We were getting ready to leave and this insolent waiter came up to me and said something wrong with my check, I said what? The bill is XX and I gave you XX. He was shocked. He couldn't understand why I left no tip. Walked away mumbling under his breath did i expect him to work for nothing? I will not go back. The one star is for the food. While we have eaten here many times in the past, today has completely turned me into a former customer. We arrived at 11:30, their opening time, we were promptly seated and the maitre'd gave us water. While we waited for a server to come over about 3-4 servers were sitting at a table near the kitchen, after waiting 15 minutes for a server we decided to leave. I still manage to give this place a 2 star only because of it's beautiful decor & the cleanliness of this restaurant. But other than that, I have nothing positive to say. My husband & I moved to NK since '06 and had always been a loyal customer. But over the years we've been here, their service & food has been slacking. They take forever to bring your food out & the food is not up to standard. What I really want to say is, they served our family raw chicken but had they nerves to say that it's not raw. The only reason why it's red is because they way the marinate the meat, when the salt goes in the bone it woud turn red. By the way, the chicken was not even marinated. It's just a regular fried chicken wings) Enough said with that excuse. We didn't want to argue so we paid & left. I took my boyfriend to 7 moons on Sunday for a special occasion because I've only heard good things about the place. Our experience started off great. Our server was friendly and attentive until we got our entrees. We didn't see him again. We finished our sushi and had leftovers and were excited to get the tempura ice-cream. We looked around and couldn't find anyone to help us. We waited five more minutes and eventually a manager gentleman, I assume because he was wearing a tie and dress pants came over to clear our plates and wrap up our leftovers. We both wanted another drink but no one came by. Next thing I know, another server who we hadn't seen before just dropped the check in front of us without asking if we wanted dessert. The check was about $58 for the the two of us. The whole experience was awful. To make matters worse, we get home to find our wrapped up leftover just thrown into the box like the manager just dumped it into it and there is no soy sauce or wasabi so ten sushi rolls went to waste. Being in the restaurant business, I still left the server 15% but overall, I just feel like I wasted 73 bucks on a crappy experience. read more

The food is Fabulous! Have been to Thailand four times, China 11 and Vietnam once.....their Asian food is spot on. Comparing this to other American Asian restaurants is laughable. Recently I had a guest from Japan visiting and his one culinary wish was to try "American Chinese Food" as he is a big fan of the Chinese food served in Japan. Knowing the local fare and not wanting to disappoint him, I asked some coworkers for a recommendation. Seven Moons was everyone's suggestion. I had driven past it on many occasions but never thought twice about it. It is my new favorite Asian restaurant. Clean, well decorated and with many comfortable dining rooms, it is like no other "Chinese" restaurant I have eaten at in all my years. The menu is extensive and well organized, featuring not only Chinese but also Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese dishes. I dined with three others and we all selected different entrees. Each was promptly delivered, beautifully presented and delicious. No one was disappointed in their choices, including our Japanese guest. We enjoyed their "famous" handmade Crab Ragoons and were most impressed....not greasy, rather light and flavorful. Service was prompt and courteous. The only thing disappointing was the Dark and Stormy my husband ordered from the bar. It was clearly not made with Goslings and it was a bit on the weak and watered down side. The total bill for four with an appetizer, one drink and four entrees, including tax was $80. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

I don't get it. The food here is mediocre and everything is al a cart. There are no combination plates for dinner so you have to order everything separate which really adds up. Great food! Love the nime chow, the rangoons. spider rolls, and pretty much anything we have ever tried. It's often quite busy when you eat in, but the staff are friendly. Take out is typically correct and ready when promised. It's a busy place during peak times, but is worth the wait. read more

We took our family to lunch yesterday. My cashew chicken had no flavor and the "chicken" was just curly blobs of brown fat. This surprised me, as we have eaten there many times when the lunch was good. They seem to have revised their lunch menu. My favorite dish is no longer the same. read more

This place has gone downhill in the last couple of years. We went a few days ago to give it another try and found no improvements. The sushi was soggy and not fresh at all. The vegetable pad Thai had one tiny piece of broccoli on the plate. Our waitress was not friendly and acted put out when we ordered anything. We waited so long for a server when we got there, we had to go to the bar to order our drinks. Waitress also spilled water over all the table when refilling our glasses and never said sorry or attempted to clean it up, left it to us to do it. It's usually busy here and menu is a little over-priced, but everything I've tried on the menu is very good so far. They have an extensive menu. I love the crab rangoons and lo mein here. I don't like sushi so I can't answer to how that is. The drinks are pretty good and usually strong. It's a fun place to go after work for some drinks. read more

My husband and I ate here last night. We have been here many a time and have always been pleased with the food and service. Recently management has changed and it's quite noticeable. We were the only people sitting at the sushi bar. Didn't get approached immediately and waited a few minutes, not sure why because they had just opened. Once we did our waiter took our order which included a ginger ale for me and a beer for my husband. Well, I got my ginger ale and meal so I waited for my husbands to arrive........................ finally came but still no beer. We have been here many times, place was always spotless, friendly and cheery. Not anymore. While sitting at the sushi bar I noticed dust on the sushi case and the feel was just not clean. Our waiter got lost, never came to check back and we waited for our check to arrive. Had to ask the hostess to get our check. Needless to say our waiters tip was nothing and I will not be returning. I can't understand any of the negative reviews about Seven Moons. The menu is extensive. Never been disappointed with the food. We went there opening day a couple of years ago and have returned about every 2 weeks ever since. The bento box lunch is a great value and great tasting, the Thai coconut soup is out of this world. On special occasions I devour the Sushi and Sashimi lovers boat. The only complaint I have had is the service on the right hand side of restaurant is poor for whatever reason (2 bad experiences) I think they use this section as an overflow section at exceptionally busy lunchtime and the servers are strained to keep up. read more

I love seven moons! It is a very postive atomosphere and the waitstaff is amazing!!!! I have to give this place five stars because i literally live about a 1/2 hour away and do not mind at all taking the drive to North Kingston just to eat at this restaurant. Every chance i get i go down there! The Nime Chow is to die for! I have never eaten Nime chow until i came to this Restaurant and now im hooked. I have eaten Nime chow at other restaurants around my area and they have no comparison to that one. The soups are delicious esp the seven moon and the cambodian delight, and the lemon grass chicken is amazing! I have yet to eat something i do not enjoy there. I spent my 21st birthday there and the waiter served me and my 7 friends and he got everything right, and was on point with everything, all the meals came out at the same time and everything was perfect without one complaint! Also the mixed drinks and wines are phenmonal here! Everytime i go i get something completely new to me, and usually ill ask the waiter what kind of wine he recommends and he will give me the best selections, and recommendations! The waitstaff is very friendly, and most of them have a sense of humor! There is a huge selection of foods so you are able to try something different everytime you go in and the fact that it includes 7 different asain countrys, you can have a different cusine everytime you go in. The prices are very reasonable and you get a very big amount of food. Even though it is very busy on weekends, you always find parking in there big parking lot. I have yet to try the sushi but when my friends go with me they always have it. I also love the seating area that you are on the floor, that was a very different but fun experience! Just a little warning to Seven Moons lovers out there. Got takeout tonight and my order was wrong. I realized this when I got home and called to talk to them about it. The manager there told me that I was "wasting his time" and that there is no way they could have gotten my order wrong and that I must have said it wrong. Then he hung up on me! He initially offered to have me come back to fix the order (which seems to me an admission that they could have in fact been wrong!!!). I told him that I live 20 miles from there and it was pretty inconvenient to drive back. So then he again said that there is no way his staff could have typed in my order wrong. Pretty poor customer service :( and very rude. read more

I've been going here for years and it's always been worth it. Tonight got take-out, beef lo mein, crab Rangoon and veggie fried rice. $30. Lo mein was crap. So was the rice, and the Rangoon was full of air. I'll never go here again. Used to get really good food for a couple extra dollars and it was worth it. No wonder there was 5 cars in the parking lot at 530 on a Friday night. read more

They've really gone downhill. I can't understand why they don't read these reviews and address these issues. The only thing I can think of is that maybe I'm ordering the wrong things (my wife loves this restaurant) or their business is not impacted because there is not a lot of competition for them in the area. Having said all that, I used to think this restaurant was great. However, I've had consistently bad experiences. They have some kind of 'meat' that they put in their chicken dishes that is not like any chicken I have ever had and I can't figure out why they use this cheap (I assume) substitute. I've also had a couple of dishes that have some kind of ground meat in them that is just gross. I also have had their 'lettuce wraps' before, which are pretty good. They have a winey flavor and sesame oil flavor that makes them pretty tasty. I had them recently and no wine, no sesame oil (or at least not noticeable). Completely bland. They did include hoisin sauce, which I like, but I can't understand why they don't even follow their own recipe. And people want consistency -- that's one of the reasons fast food chains are successful: you get the same food at every restaurant, regardless of location. Here, I can't even count on getting something I like prepared the same way two different times. As I say, my wife does like Seven Moons. Boneless spare ribs, fried rice and crab rangoon are consistently good. But I've had a lot of trouble finding an entree that I like and some of my selections have been just plain gross, others just boring. read more
