The restaurant has beautiful water views, but the food is not good. The crab dip had hardly any crab and was incredibly salty, so we sent it back. The Ceasar salad was chopped very fine with the lettuce core included and we sent that back as well. The crab soup had crab shells with very little crab meat. The filet mignon had to be sent back twice as it was raw in the middle. There was also a large wedding party of at least twenty people seated in the dining room that was incredibly loud! We couldn't even have a conversation as the background noise was unbearable. Great ambience but terrible food. They might want to think about hiring a new chef and expanding the menu. read more

Just on yesterday I attended brunch for the 1st time. It was a group of about 25. I have to say that my cousin originally had reservations for about 17-18 and on the same day she called to add 8 extra. After being placed on hold for just a few minutes, they were able to accomodate. When we arrived they were not quite ready for us. That was understandable due to the add on. Once ready they seated us at 2 separate tables that were close together. I have to say it started off a little rocky with the server. That's what made them loose a star. This was a family brunch gathering but, the waiter did not start out very friendly and the vibe was felt. After, the complaint she pretty much changed her attitude. To be the size group that we were we did not have any rude people in our party. But, the none friendliness was just not acceptable. After that minor hump, things seemed to go pretty smooth and the waiter had a better accomodating attitude. We were explained how the brunch works. Drink orders were taken and also orders for eggs. Off to the buffet. There was plenty to choose from. Steamed shrimp, oysters, crab dip, parfait, salads, pancakes, sausage and much more. Most items were pretty good. The only thing that I personally did not care for was the french toast which was pretty hard around the edges and the prime rib due to it not being well done. When it was time to pay the check I was shocked that we were able to pay separate upon request. It was very painless. Every one paid with no problem. I have to say for the most part it was a pleasant experience. I just wish it had not been a rainy and foggy day so that we could have enjoyed the view also. After crossing over the Naval Academy bridge and making that right, take your first immediate sharp right and you'll see the yellow Severn Inn and a little park under the bridge. GPS left me in the middle road a little past the turn off. Woa- where am I supposed to go now? Best part about this spot is that my friends love it here and it was their anniversary. My husband has been wanting to try their brunch for a while now so we finally made a reservation. It wasn't busy so we walked right in. The waitress greeted us immediately which was great. It was our first time so she explained everything to us. Let's start with the pros. The staff was constantly stocking the buffet which was great. They provide a nice selection and the service was great. Some of the things we didn't like were that they didn't have a menu. If you want to order eggs, you have to order it through your server. The server does not provide a menu , you just tell him/her what you want. A menu would have been nice. The do not have a drink list. I'm assuming most people order mimosas and bloody mary's but other options would have been nice. The prime rib was ok. I like my meat on the rare side and even though I requested a rare/med rare it was not available. A lot of the pieces were medium well. Overall, it was ok. If I could give it 3.5 starts I would because the service was good. However, it's not a restaurant that I would recommend. It wasn't bad but it wasn't that good for the price tag. read more

Went there for NYE dinner. Went online to make reservations and they featured a three course dinner with selections so I booked. I was disappointed when I was seated to be told that was last years selection, yet it was featured when I made my reservation. The selection on the menu was 5 entree items, slim pickens for my taste. This was a great spot to celebrate in Annapolis. They are dockside, with a beautiful view of the water and the city sky. We had great service, from a gentleman named Ben. He was able to deal with my boastful family of 10+. We had a large order, with substitutions, additions, drinks, cocktails, sides, apps, you name it. We had a reservation for indoor service at the Severn Inn yesterday, but when we got there we were told we would have to wait to be seated indoors until the long line of persons standing outside could be seated (presumably outdoors). So why did I waste my time making a reservation when I could have just come to the restaurant and got in line with everyone else?! I attended brunch for the first time; this place was highly recommended by a friend of ours. The restaurant is beautiful, and sits on the water. So, the atmosphere gets 5 stars! The service gets a 4...Maria was a great server but the restaurant stopped serving mimosas after the brunch time was over. We didn't like that (I know, I know) lol! The food was...acceptable. Not great, just good. There were a few unrecognizable items on the hot bar that we avoided. We enjoyed the raw bar and prime rib though! So, is it worth a repeat trip? Yes! On the recommendation of a friend, I went to brunch on 7/31/17 at the Severn Inn. The ambiance (we sat outside) was very nice. It does offers picture perfect dining. I can see why people use it for events. Although the service was meh, the Sunday brunch is buffet style and, there really isn't much you can ask from them (unless you're making the most of your bottomless mimosas). The waiter also never asked if we wanted another omelet (its all you can eat but you have to order omelets with the wait staff). I never felt any pressure to hurry up and go by any of the service staff. The food was good and there was ample choices in their buffet. I will say however, the vegetarian options are somewhat limited (unless you eat eggs and fish which I do so I had plenty to choose from). In a nutshell, I wouldn't want to blow my calorie count on this a meal like this every weekend but for a casual get together to catch up with some friends, it was perfect. read more

I'd like to give 3.5 Stars for brunch. We attended Mother's Day brunch this past Sunday. This was my first time, we had a party of 16. They accommodated the group and allowed us to sit even though our entire group was not present. The Severn Inn is situated right on the water which makes for nice ambiance. The brunch is buffet style, however you can get pancakes and omelets made to order which I love. The pancakes were perfect! Also, unlimited mimosas are included so that somewhat justifies the cost. The buffet also includes shrimp, oysters, vegetable soup, bacon, roasted potatoes, sausage, salmon, benetts, carving station, crab dip, old bay chips, desserts and more. Perhaps buffet style just isn't for me. I would have preferred to order an a la carte entree with an unlimited mimosa add on option. I can't eat breakfast and dinner at the same time. If you can, or you can devour multiple plates, then you'll have an awesome experience. Overall we were satisfied, but not wowed. read more

Will not dine there again. The filet mignon tasted worse than banquet food. The cream of crab was so bland, the crab cake was on top of cole slaw and oniony corn so it was bitter. We have be coming to The Severn Inn since they opened and it became one of our favorite restaurants in Annapolis. We moved to Atlanta in 2009 and on our many trips back to Annapolis, the first place we wanted to eat was The Severn Inn. This evening, 5/13/2021, was a huge disappointment. At a friend's suggestion/request, I ventured to Severn Inn for a birthday lunch. Located in the beautiful MD state capital of Annapolis, Severn Inn is a quaint restaurant located right on the water and a short distance from the Naval Academy. It bills itself as a modern American seafood house. The decor is definitely upscale and they take advantage of their setting by having large panel windows, which allow you to take in the beautiful view. The service is friendly and professional. Hostess was very engaging and the waitress was knowledgeable and efficient. The lunch menu is a bit small, which is not my preference. I like options! I started off with the Baby Iceberg Wedge, which is served with crispy onions, cucumbers, tomatoes and blue cheese dressing. The salad came in a moderate portion size and was nicely presented. All the veggies tasted fresh and crisp. My only complaint was that it was lightly dressed. More dressing please! The appetizer was the Ahi Tuna Trio, which featured tuna tartar, sashimi and spicy sushi roll. The spicy rolls were fantastic. They were on the small side but packed big flavor with a little kick. The sashimi was fresh and had a nice texture. The tartar reminded me of cat food I see on tv commercials. It was also not particularly appealing taste-wise but that may be more of a preference thing. For the main course, I had the Grilled Cilantro-Lime Marinated Fish Taco. It features flour tortillas, spicy black beans, guacamole, spicy jicama slaw, sour, fire roasted tomato-chilli salsa and and queso fresco. The fish mixed well with all the toppings. The portion size was a little smaller than I would've liked. Additionally, the tacos were good from a diner or lower end restaurant standpoint but for a higher-end establishment, it was just ok. Great gesture by the restaurant to bring out a complementary dessert for the birthday girl. It was basically chocolate lava cake with ice cream. Nice touch Severn Inn! Prices are ok as two appetizers, two entrees and beverages came to a little over $60. I'm not in any rush to come back soon but I think in the spring time sitting on the patio, eating and enjoying a light breeze while taking in the view of the water would be an fantastic experience. read more

Second time at Severn and my second review. Really nice place to sit and eat by the water, inside or out. Seafood dishes are your best bet. Rockfish, risotto and crab soap were well liked. We love this place. It's pricey but it's worth the adventure. If you go, try to go when the weather is good and sit out on the outdoor deck. It's glorious, the breeze was perfect when we went and we enjoyed the view of the Severn and the Academy across the way. We went for dinner with some friends on this occasion and sat outside. We all reviewed the menu and there are some amazing dishes to be had. Everything we have ever ordered has always been over the top yum (except for the fried pickles - that is an acquired taste). They give you all the menus, but what you do not realize is that the Pub menu is smaller less expensive versions of the regular dinner menu. We all ordered from the Pub menu and enjoyed our meals. I had a crab cake dish - and their crab cakes have NO FILLER! Yup, it's all the good stuff - well worth the price. Gus had a small person's meal - which was salmon with green beans - but they do not skimp on the children's menu either - it's fantastic. Neil had fish and chips which he devoured, and I know our friends ate well and enjoyed their meals too. So all in all great eats! Great view, a bit pricey but worth the trip (at least once in a while). Remember to save on some dough and some serious calorie intake - just take a look at the pub menu or just drop in for lunch. Most dishes are American but they do have hummus/med platter in the apps, they also have a lot of seafood and meat dishes for all tastes. We have also always found the service fantastic (except the hosts - sometimes they seem a bit dingy). And they do have a Pub area besides the dinning rooms and outdoor patios.
