The service is always good. The food is hit or miss. The new owners are forever changing up the tried and true recipes and don't always get it right. You don't put sugar in cornbread! They're redoing the interior, so I cannot comment on ambiance. I hope they put the local memorabilia back up. read more

We used to love this place, but for the past year, the service has been iffy, you have to wait a while for your food, and then you walk out smelling greasy as they need to install better ventilation in the kitchen. The stale popcorn doesn't help. We are hopeful they'll return to their former goodness. Maybe it just takes some time and more attentive management. read more

This is hands down one of three best restaurants we had of the pleasure of finding on a road trip. The food is great down home food. The service is amazing. Since we were first timers the owner gifted is a few desserts to try. So very generous. And then it's also amazingly inexpensive!! Honestly they need to raise thier prices. This was a perfect meal. So this was probably the best experience I've had with customer service ever anywhere. The staff was extra friendly and the food was good. My husband and I came to try it out for the first time. I ordered a chicken fried steak and he ordered a sirloin. We got our food very quickly. The waitress asked if the steak was cooked all right and he said "it's cooked right". The waitress picked up really well that he wasn't too satisfied even though he was trying not to show it, and the manager came out and asked about it. He just mentioned that it's cooked perfect but doesn't have any flavor. She offered to change out his order and so he got a chicken fried steak as well. It came out perfectly. Then they went a step further and brought us a free bread pudding. We totally weren't expecting that. They also removed his meal from the ticket. My husband ordered the steak medium rare and it was a little more done for his liking. I ordered the philly cheesesteak with fries. We just moved to Seymour and we were looking for a local place to have a meal. We were not disappointed. The home like atmosphere and the service was just the beginning. We started with the fried pickles, because why not. Perfectly battered and not too greasy. Me and my husband both had the chicken and dumplings and oh my word, it was perfect. The dumplings were fluffy, not to thick and flavorful. I finished it off with the best coconut cream pie I've ever had. Our server told me that a local woman makes all the desserts and that made it all the sweeter. The prices were reasonable. I'm so happy to have this as a local option. read more

Fried Green Tomatoes, fried pickles, meat loaf, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, okra, pinto beans, chicken livers, catfish, cole slaw, peanut butter pie and strawberry shortcake. Everything was awesome. Can not wait to try something else. We enjoyed our meal and the service was very good. The catfish batter was different than other pictures so not sure if it has been changed or if it is just different night. The friend green tomatoes was the best. Meat loaf was enough for two meals and will enjoy that for lunch tomorrow. Lots to choose from and will return. This is probably my favorite local place for a really good, reasonably priced, home cooked meal. We like to frequent the Seymour Grill when in that part of the county. Very pleasant servers, free popcorn when you sit down for a snack, and we'll cooked home made food. The kiddos love the chicken fried chicken and sweet potato casserole. The friendly down home personal attention in service was impeccable. The food was better than I could have expected. I had the catfish dinner and my wife had the meatloaf dinner. Both were excellent! The fries were fresh cut and the catfish was home breaded. The meatloaf was homemade as were the mashed potatoes, not premise past, delicious homemade mashed potatoes. The sweet tea is real southern sweet tea. The owner even came out and created us. Very friendly place and exceptional food. It's my new favorite! You MUST give this place a try.
