Came here on a Sunday afternoon for the first time, and it was the perfect spot to cool off on another hot day. We ordered some refreshing drinks, I went with the frozen strawberry margarita, which was okay, but after trying my boyfriend's mango margarita, I honestly wished I had ordered that instead. It was so good and way more flavorful! For my meal, I ordered the cheese enchilada plate, and overall it was really good. I loved the sauce, and everything came out nice and hot, which I always appreciate. We also got guacamole as an appetizer, it was decent, but probably not something I'd order again next time. Service was very attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. Overall, I'd definitely come back, especially for the drinks (next time I'm getting the mango margarita!) and the enchilada plate again. read more

Prior to a concert at the La Mirada Theater for the Performing Arts Saturday night, us two couples stopped for dinner and so glad we did. Another excellent meal! Were seated right away, but parking was a bit of a hassle. Fresh chips & salsa served immediately with just the right amount of spice. We ordered 2 hard chicken taco plates, seafood enchiladas and my go-to green chile verde plate with warmed flour tortillas. Carnitas were perfectly prepared & served piping hot, very tender and delicious. Our guests all enjoyed their choices, with good portions all freshly prepared. Their signature cinnamon fried chips were complimentary and the perfect lighter dessert. They are an LM landmark that earns its high marks every day. I highly recommend Mexico 1900 to all! read more

Walked in at 6 pm on a monday and the first thing I noticed was a very moldy sour smell. Not sure what that was about but it immediately reduced my appetite. Their was one server and one busser, and it took way too long to get out order in. I will say that the ambience was very nice, with traditional Mexican paintings and nice seating area. They had sports on a big screen and no music. Probably good for some and bad for others. I order the Panchito, a combination of Chile relleno, tamale, enchilada, beef taco, rice and beans. My wife order the Camerones a la Diabla. My mom ordered the Chile Verde. Trust me when I tell you not a single bite was apealing...in fact the beef was questionable in color and smell. I feel like they microwave old food and throw a bunch of cheese on top to mask it. I would rather have visited the taco bell next door, honestly at least I wouldn't feel sick after. It saddens me to give two stars to a restaurant but I feel its important for others to know...stay away from this one. read more

Great family restaurant. Our friends come here often and the waiters already knew what they wanted. The service was great: fast and friendly. I shared the combo fajitas with the wife and we still took some home. This was the one person serving. Very tasty and enjoyed the salsa. Definitely would come back. The place is very nicely decorated and there is a bar on the other half of the restaurant that can also act as a small party room. Terrible service. We brought my recently widowed mother as this was her and her hubby's fav place and she couldn't bring herself to go without him. Needless to say, it was difficult for her (just pulling up in the parking lot) but she had high hopes. We finally got her to let us take her for Mother's Day (none of us, her family, had been). We were not treated well by the obviously preoccupied (and noticeably annoyed we were NOT Spanish speakers) waiter, from the second we were seated. He was uninterested in our order (which is probably why it was wrong) and although initially we were trying to be patient, our patience was wearing thin after the 10-minute wait just for water. When we asked if our incorrect could be fixed, he really turned up the attitude. Mom was so upset we weren't enjoying ourselves so we were trying to make things better, I finally gave up receiving my soda. I wasn't happy with my super soggy relleno, so just kept eating chips. The worst part was my mom's previously and numerous happy memories of this place, were decimated in one afternoon. Shame on you Mexico 1900 for allowing such obvious discrimination to be an allowable behavior by your employees. We have not and will not return. read more

I have been to this place many times, but it has been a while since my last visit. I don't know what happen to this place, but it has taken a turn for the worst. When you walk in front door an instant smell of rotten sewage hits you. The service was horrible! 2 tables that got seated about 15 to 20 minutes after our party got their food before us. We waited for almost an hour before we got our food. I asked when was our food coming out because it has been a long while. And I got an answer back asking if I was going to wait? ( or basically do I want to leave) Once we got food my burrito was about room temperature, not hot at all. Server asked how food was and I let him know my burrito was kinda cold. His answer was oh well as he shrugged and walked away. I do not know what kinda of customer service they practice here, but I experienced enough to never recommend this place to anyone and I will no longer eat here again. As soon as my partner and I walked in around 8:30pm she asked for how many, we say 2 and then she proceeds to say "We close at 9pm by the way" in a rude way. I been going here for years and the food is good and the servers are nice and helpful. I enjoy having a couple beers with Mexican food it just makes the meals better. But my last time I went I paid 8.50 for a bottle of beer! With tax that's almost 10 dollars for a 12 ounce bottle of modelo! I had 3 beers at almost 30 dollars!! I wouldn't have done that had I known the pricing! At 10 dollars for a beer it should be 22 ounces of a tap. I will not return due to these prices and if I did I wouldn't order a beer. This place has been a great go to spot in La Mirada for years now but unfortunately it has not been consistent lately. You walk in and you are greeted by friendly staff. The interior gives Mexican Family restaurant vibes with traditional paintings and the Copa playing on the TV. My go to Steak Picado was a bit overcooked and lacking some seasoning. My wife ordered the flautas and they were "pretty good." The guacamole, chips, and salsa has been known to be fire but lately they have been lacking. The service was friendly as always but for being a slow dinner night they did take a while to come around to check for refills and even to pick up and drop off the check. The family behind me ordered what smelled and sounded like a fajita plate and the scent made me wish I ordered that. I will come back and hopefully revise this post and give it a 4 or higher. read more

Horrible customer service. Did not ask 1 time if the food was okay or if we needed anything. Another table ordered 2 micheladas AFTER we had asked for a refill of water. They got their drinks first. EVEN THOUGH WE JUST NEEDED A REFILL OF WATER. We had to ask someone else for help. No communication skills at all. Servers will walk right past your table, no acknowledgment at all. We went to 1900 Mexican Grill because it was local and it says Authentic Mexican Food. We found out that it was anything but Authentic. Service was pleasant and courteous but food was terrible. We ordered the Burrito Supreme, Tapica, and Carne Asada plates. The stake that came with both Tapica and Carne Asada plates was more like a shoe sole leather and did not taste much different, if you were into eating shoe soles. The Burrito, Oh my God. The server stated that the Burrito came with both beef and chicken. What I got was the worst Burrito I've ever came in contact with. It was all chicken, dry white meat with a sprinkle, kid you not, a sprinkle of tasteless ground beef. You would expect an Authentic Mexican Burrito to be better than Taco Bell or Dell Taco, but it was totally dry and tasteless void of any basic Burrito ingredients such as beans, rice or salsa. Since it was not edible, it was packed in a container to take home. I gave it my dog, the poor dog sniffed it, looked at me, before forcing itself to eat it. It was bad. I've been wanting to try this place for so long and was very disappointed. The minute I walked in there was this gross sewage smell and normally I would have left but my husband's mom was excited to try. Service was extremely slow as there were only two people working the who restaurant. My soda taste funny and the albondigas soup was flavorless, the salsa was bland, the beans and shrimp were decent. We ordered guacamole it was decent however the chips that came with it were stale ? My husband ordered a plate that had a chile relleno on it , I took a bite and wanted to spit it out , it taste awful and old . As I was tasting the food I couldn't help but feel like they pre make the food a week in advance and then drench the food in cheese . Another thing I noticed was on my way to the bathroom there is an open kitchen with no cooks ? I never heard chopping or smelled fresh food coming out of the kitchen . This is probably why the severs would disappear for a long time as they were probably reheating food . I never like to write reviews like this but honestly even after I brushed my teeth I can't get the bad flavor out of my mouth and I feel so sick. I truly hope this restaurant gets help or was just having an extremely bad day. I will not be returning and it's sad because the place has cool decor and big TVs to watch the games . :(( read more

well, I went to this establishment on Sunday with my family and a few friends and we had a table for six. We ordered menudo and some other entrées and I kept looking at my wife and I kept saying oh man this is taking a long time for our meals to come to our table and we waited over 30 minutes and when the food came, our Menudo was almost all hamony and no meat and it was semi hot and the taste was very bland we kept saying wow the food today is horrible what it boils down to they were not ready to open up at 11 o'clock and when we had asked the waiter about the food and why it was taken so long in Spanish he had an attitude and became rude. Well it gets better because when the check came we noticed that the waiter gave himself a tip!!! And we were like wow that's pretty ballsy because we felt the food & the service sucked!!! And for (5) people the bill was around $150. My sister in law called the restaurant today and the waiter who served us became angry and rude!!! And gets better because we found out he's the owner... All I can say is we won't be back and I just want to let everyone know I would think twice before thinking of eating at this establishment... My mom and step dad went here over the weekend and I had them bring me home a plate of their camarones al mojo de ajo (garlic shrimp). The shrimp tasted like refrigerator and the garlic shrimp had no flavor other than the loads of unsalted melted butter it came with/in. I decided to try my luck with the chips and salsa. The salsa was pace salsa (the stuff you buy at the market) with a bit of water and cilantro for flavor. My parents didn't have a better experience than I did.
