Contacted Rigo based on a recommendation and got best quote compared to others top reviewed moving companies that was available for the date that I need for the move. Given the option to either have them help with packing (2 days for pack and then move) or pay per hour. I went with the hourly rate and did the packing ourselves. In hindsight, if I have to re-do it, I'd pay them more to help with the packing. It took them 6 hours with a crew of 4 people to move the big items, odd sized, and the rest of the smaller boxes we still have at the old place. Did end up saving a few hundred dollars but if I could to re-do it, I would give them that money and have them do the 2 days of packing and moving for a slightly higher flat rate and not go through the week-long packing and 4 round trips myself. Showed up on time, worked fast, very little rest time. Did excellent job moving the piano and a very heavy 6-drawer dresser (from 2nd floor of at the old place to 3rd floor of the new place, long stairs). Very careful throughout, I don't see any wall damage to my old place nor the new place. I am happy with the service and would recommend them. read more

I have used SF Bay Area Movers several times now, and I am always impressed by how simple they make moves. It doesn't matter what is needed. They were recommended by our realtor to help with anything we needed, be it storage or house cleanout. We used them to help pack and do three moves - my dining room table and chairs from Hayward to LA, which they did with other moves going to LA so the price was low. They moved half our house to San Jose and the other half to Saint Louis - Missouri! The same crew - so it wasn't like one team on one side of the move and another on the delivery. It's personal. and flawless. This year, the San Jose household needed to move to Reno - and they quoted a fair price, packed up everything in a difficult to access home and the next day brought everything to Reno, without any damage. All furniture was carefully blanket wrapped and handled with care. TV, electronics, well packaged and handled. Rigo, the owner, is very helpful, going above and beyond. He provides his personal cell number and is easy to text and get a hold of. Best movers ever! read more

My friend and her fiance both used SF Bay Area Movers for prior moves and found them to be reliable. When my "regular" moving company couldn't fit us in, I decided to give these guys a try. The positives - -Very good price, especially with weekday cash discount -They start as early as 7am and are on time -These guys worked very efficiently and were much faster than my previous movers (although those guys were meticulous and I didn't mind the extra time they took) The not so positives - -The booking process is super informal. I like getting something in writing to confirm but that never happened (even though I had provided my email address). I called a day in advance to reconfirm because I was so nervous that they might have lost my reservation. -They seem to charge more for "packing materials" they used for furniture than my previous movers and that pricing was not transparently disclosed until it was time to pay. However, even with that, the cost of our move was much lower than we anticipated. read more

We used SF Bay Area Movers to move from Oakland to Orinda and were very happy with the service. Our team lead scouted the destination in advance because our driveway was challenging, and recommended we use a smaller truck. This was a good thing because even with the smaller truck they almost bottomed out the fuel tanks due to the steepness of the hill. We moved over two days, with a total of three loads. The team disassembled most of our furniture, including a very challenging loft bed. The team worked hard and took good care of our belongings, including many outdoor plants that were challenging to move. Overall very happy with the service and would recommend! read more

Movers showed up on time at 7am. Super quick and efficient guys. Very respectful and polite by asking the right questions and mindful of the furnitures and floors. Mirrors and glass tables were wrapped, they also provided closet boxes for use which is super convenient. 4.5 stars! We were moving a 3 bedroom/1 bath and needed full service (including packing). Ruigo and his team were on time and super friendly and efficient. He came in advance to see how much stuff we have (which is A LOT) and gave us an estimate (3 days to pack and move it all). I had told them that I really think 4 ppl would be better than 3, and for the last day they did schedule 4 people, but one didn't show up. (I felt so awful for them being a person down!). But they were able to move all our things over 3 full days even if that meant staying later than they wanted on the last day. Nothing broke and everything seemed to make it over. They also really helped move some huge items (a 150 gallon fish tank and a murphy bed) and at one point a hutch didnt fit upstairs they brought it back downstairs for me. The only point off (really wish it was only a half a point) was that many of the boxes packed seemed random (ex: my husbands ties were packed with the baby toilet, 2 different rooms of the house) and they were generically labeled "kitchen" so it took days to find the coffee maker/toaster/silverware and i still cant find the lid to the food processor (though the rest of it was found). But honestly they were a great price (we ended up with a flat estimate so not sure how it broke down, but still much less expensive than a few other estimates we got), super pleasant and hard working, starting at 730am even on the weekend! read more

Can you find movers on Yelp? Well yes, you can....and 5 star ones at that! I called SF Bay Area Movers after I read their reviews on yelp, and I can't say enough good things about this company. Here is why they get 5 stars from me: ***Arranging the move was easy. The date I needed about 3 weeks away was open and the nice woman on the phone answered all of my questions including how to get used boxes ***Speaking of used boxes, I was able to get a bunch dropped off a couple weeks prior to the move date. And they were not so much used boxes as a lot of brand new boxes, plus some used. Either way, they were free, all in excellent condition and easy to get ***The day of the move, my stuff was packed carefully (like breakables wrapped in a moving blanket, taped and then secured). Nothing was broken or scratched ***The guys hustled. They got my place packed up quickly, disassembled things like the dining room table to carefully pack/protect, and then reassembled when we got to my new home. ***The price is great. 2 movers plus the truck plus all of the boxes at $80/hr. They also hauled away a desk that I didn't want anymore and would have had to pay a lot to get hauled off for an additional $50. Can't beat that! And they took back all the boxes and packing trash into the truck for free. ***They do more than just move. I bought a 5 piece desk set from Costco and I kid you not, it came in 9 huge boxes with ten million screws, dowels, glue etc. They guys hauled it upstairs for me, and then offered to put it together. And they did a gorgeous job. Once they were done building all the pieces, they moved it around and then hauled away all of the cardboard, styrofoam, paper and plastic! While I hope I never move again because "movin' aint fun", if I do, I'll be calling SF Bay Area Movers. read more

We had a great experience with SF Bay Area Movers during our move from Fremont to Alameda. I did some research beforehand and felt that SFBAM had the best all-around price for comparable services and very good reviews on Yelp. What you get is 2 movers for $80/hour. The rate includes: - as many wardrobe boxes as you need (so you don't need to spend time folding up your hanging clothes) - packaging materials (e.g. tape, bubble wrap, plastic wrap, moving pads/blankets) - even regular boxes (I was told that used boxes would be free, but when the guys showed up they actually had with them new boxes, which we used for no extra charge). (In full disclosure, we had already purchased a set of 25 boxes from Costco and had boxed all of our small items in the weeks leading up to our move, so if you're requesting 25 boxes for your own move, I'm not sure if SFBAM would give you 25 boxes for free...). - if your move is more than 25 miles between each location, then they charge you double time during the drive. This seems to be standard practice in the industry, and I thought that it was fair. Movers: - the 2 fellows that came were excellent, very efficient and didn't take any breaks during the entire 5 hour move (from ~10am - 3pm). They weren't overly friendly, but were courteous, which was exactly the way I wanted the experience to be. - most importantly, they were really professional about packaging our larger items securely, like our 42" LCD TV, our bedframe (which they completely dismantled and packaged), sofa, etc. Everything was handled gingerly and with care; at one point we actually asked the guys NOT to pad/wrap a coffee table since we were thinking about throwing it away after settling in to our new place. At the end of the move, nothing broke, we didn't find any scratches/dings, and despite moving some heavy objects all the way to the third floor of our new home, our walls were left unscratched. Again, overall, a wonderful experience in an industry where horror stories are all-too-common. I'm definitely bookmarking SFBAM for future reference. *** My recommendation if you're moving: - pre-pack all of your stuff before the move so that you can cut down on the moving time. Just leave your big items for the day-of. - buy boxes at Costco; they're really cheap. A set of 25 boxes will handle a normal 2BR apartment - IMO, for a 2BR apartment, if you can stick with using 2 movers, that's probably best, otherwise additional movers may end up slacking for a variety of reasons (not necessarily their fault) - If you have expensive items, moving into a new house and are afraid of your walls getting banged up, etc., then it's important to find movers that have insurance. read more

Based on the good reviews, my wife decided to view the website and give this company a call to ask for an estimate for our move. She called three times and all three times left messages on Claudia's voice mail, with no response what so ever. Based on the previous reviews my wife gave the company the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe they're closed (even though their website states they are open 7 days a week) or maybe they're really busy. Based on the fact that they couldn't even respond to any of the three voice mail messages, I would not recommend this company. PS: this company may want to update the phone numbers listed on the website because the 866 number doesn't work and it's apparent that Claudia doesn't know how to return a call. read more

Rigo and his team made quick work out of our 5 bedroom home. They showed up on time and quickly got to work. Not one of the three-man team sandbagged while on the job. I've seen movers "take their time" preparing items like cushions from damage by wrapping them separately. Really? Cushions? Just another way to pad the time. But these guys were rocking and rolling all the throughout the entire move from packing to unloading. They were quick and efficient. Most importantly, they were within budget. Oh Yelp, how I love thee, let me count the ways. You led me to good food, you helped me find my hair dresser... then you introduced me to my moving company. I was fearful. I'm a out-of-the-closet control freak. These are my shoes. There are many like them, but these are mine. If it's labeled "Fragile" you damn well better treat it like it's your mama's. I was impressed from start to finish. Rigo and his #2 arrived 10 minutes early. They get EXTRA bonus points for this, as every pizza, chinese, and fed-ex delivery guy has gotten lost in our apartment complex. Not my movers; they showed up at 9:50. They were clean, efficient, and polite. They asked questions when furniture looked wobbly (my cheap Target stuff), wrapped each large item in a blanket or saran wrap as was appropriate, and loaded it all in the truck. My boyfriend slipped them a little cash "por Cervesas" and their pace stayed nice and quick as they loaded each heap of boxes. We tootled across town to the new location and they showed up ready to rock. Each box was put in the room to which I had labeled it (In both Spanish and English because I'm a nerd). Book cases and heavy furniture were put on the walls where I wanted them. Not a single item broken, not a single scratch, not a single wine glass shattered. I happily handed over my Visa; this was the best money I spent in a LONG time. I would recommend them to anyone and would use them again in a heartbeat. read more

I did quite a bit of research on moving companies before finally deciding to go with SF Bay Area Movers. I cannot begin to express how impressed I am with the high level of service, proficiency, and professionalism that they display all around. Our scheduled move date was a few days before Christmas - but this was no problem for them. First, both Claudia and Rigo came to my home to assess our belongings and to provide me with a quote; they usually give hourly quotes, but I requested a flat rate so that I could compare it with the other quotes I obtained. They came in the lowest, but because of how awesome they were to work with, we tipped them the difference between one of the higher quotes we received. To us, it isn't about getting the cheapest - it's about the quality of work provided. It's obvious that Rigo and his company like what they do; it shows. Rigo came personally a few days before moving to drop off boxes we would need. They included used boxes as well as wardrobe boxes in our rate. This was a plus, as other companies I talked with would not provide boxes. He and his crew were on time on moving day, worked hard and fast, and put everything exactly where it was supposed to go. We were so impressed with everything they did. I am so glad we decided to go with this company and will definitely use them again the next time we have to move. As others have said the scheduling, communication and estimate process is very smooth, so I won't add anything on that. I will say that their rates are very competitive and came in considerably less than a large corporate competitor I've had experience with. Everything went well, my only critical points would be that I believe Rigo underestimated the amount of stuff we had and it was a bit much for 2 guys to handle. Rigo did show up for a while to help load, but then went off I assume to another move. However a couple of our items did sustain some slight damage/marks and the move went pretty late (6pm or so). Both I'd say due to the fact that 2 guys just weren't enough, and as it got later the guys started to rush the job a bit and I think were just plain exhausted. On our previous move we had 3 guys from cor-o-van and at the time we had less stuff than now. The two guys really busted their asses and I certainly got my money's worth as I negotiated a flat rate with Rigo before hand. My only advice would be to be realistic about the amount of stuff you have and maybe ask for a 3rd mover if need be. Our 3 bedroom house with major appliances really should have had 3 people. I think you'll definitely get more personal service and a better value with these guys than with a big corporate company. I would use them again, but this time I'll pay a little more and get that 3rd person! read more

We moved from the Bay Area to the Sacramento region a couple of months back. After 38 years in the large home, we had a ton to move. It would've taken us weeks to get everything prepared ourselves and needed someone that could handle doing a lot of prep work many moving companies make you do or charge exorbitantly for. Rigo and his team handled everything for us from A to Z. They did it quickly, at rates that I know were more than fair, with ZERO hassle. In short, they made something I loathed having to do extraordinarily easy. With as many people as I had to deal with in relocating to a new home and area and as many disappointments I faced, Rigo was the most professional, courteous, fair person I could have hoped to deal with. They did a great job of wrapping and transporting all of our large items. Nothing was damaged. Two minor negative points: A large handprint (which will not come out) was left on a sofa cushion, and they seemed to move slow at times (perhaps on purpose to squeeze in some extra time). Though, that can be me just being paranoid. However, despite the former point, they ended up rounding the time down, and i paid what i felt was a fair price. My movers were Rigo and Marco. They rocked. They took WAY more care with my stuff than I would have. I'm being totally serious. They provided wardrobe boxes for me ("I think two will be fine." Ummmmm no... try four. But that wasn't a problem.). They wrapped each piece of furniture carefully. They wrapped my SOLID OAK armoire in many blankets and plastic. And then they moved it. In the rain. They were upfront with me about all costs ($80/hour for two people). The end cost was consistent with their quote, so no bait and switch there. We did our move with SF Bay Area Movers in early Nov, from San Jose to Fremont. I have moved many times in the past, including internation moves, and this was one of the smoothest and most efficient I have ever had. I suppose the quality of teams vary. If you get a combination of Ivan, Miguel and Carlos, you are in extremely good hands. No wasted time, quiet and efficient operation. Did not leave the place dirty in spite of intermittent rain. Only needed the broad guidelines of what needed to be placed where, and everything went into the right places at the destination. They remembered exactly what came from which room, and placed them in the corresponding rooms, even without asking. Very careful handling of everything, and you could see them thinking and doing it. Nothing damaged or broken. In fact, within 15 minutes of their starting work we began to relax, because I realized they would handle it efficiently without any supervision or warnings on our part. Given the amount of material that I had, they did the move in $200-250 less than I had anticipated, since there was no wasted time and no wrong placements. The destination was a 2-level townhome, with lot of heavy stuff to go upstairs. This did not seem to matter at all. These guys are awesome. My first time using professional movers, and I picked this company because of it's good reviews. They came and went to work right away. I had a 3 man crew. Rigo wrapped everything in blankets and shrink wrap, while the other two loaded the stuff into the truck. Their pace was incredible. It took 5 hours for my 2 bedroom apartment, which was about what I expected. But after watching how fast these guys were working, I can't imagine anyone matching that time. These guys worked feverishly the entire 5 hours, with no breaks. Nothing damaged, and no marks on the walls. I'm never moving myself again. Next time I move, I'm calling Rigo... without a doubt. We moved just yesterday with them. Having moved many times before, I estimated that it would take 8 hours, these guys finished in 6! I asked for 4 movers, they charge an hourly rate for however long it takes. They also pack as much or as little as you ask them to. I got quotes from a few other places and this move ended up costing me almost $800 less than the lowest total quote I got. They were extremely professional and respectful (we have a small baby in the apartment during the move, they were super accommodating) Nothing was broken. Fastest movers ever!
