Wanted to see what was all the hype about. The quality of meat was pretty good. I book a reservation a day before for 3 people @ 6:00pm. We were greeted and seated right away by the hostess. Chase was our waiter. He was amazing. Great customer service, explained everything very well, & very attentive. He also dressed up as a lobster and brought out a small brownie cake. Overall the food was great & I like there shaved ice dessert. I love it when you have your own mini hot pot so you don't have to share with others. Walked in when they opened on a Sunday and was nicely greeted and seated. And the rest of the experience was great! The food selection at the bar was plentiful and looked quality and clean. We had Tony and Meghan (training) attend to our every needs. They explained how it works since it was our first time there (but not the first time at a hotpot restaurant). The menu had a great selection of mostly beef but included my personal favorites of lamb and pork belly choices. Each meat order arrived in it's own tray and the portions were just right. I always hate it when they give you too much and you can't try everything else because you feel like you have to finish the whole tray. The AYCE bar also included large shrimp and bay scallops which was a huge plus. PRO-TIP: Ask for the strainer because it's hard to fish out the scallops with chopsticks. They do have other shellfish that's a la carte. Overall this has to be in the top 3 hotpot restaurants with the selection, quality, and value/ price! Came a few times back to back and can't get enough. Great service, there is somewhat of a wait but it's worth it. The tables are spaced out great and there is plenty of room. The buffet has a great selection of food. From seafood, to veggies, to different kinds of kimchi (my favorite)!!! Chive dumplings, Chinese sausage, and shaved ice for a little sweet tooth afterward. The broths are the best. The shiitake mushroom broth was to die for. Next I tried the mala sichuan broth and that was my new favorite. Great spice level. The meats are fresh. I like how they have a plentiful array of fresh ingredients. I highly recommend trying the ribeye and short rib. Very tender and juicy. They also have a good selection of fresh vegetables. My main issue was the broths were very bland for the most part. I tried the Signature, Soondubu, and Huo Guo. All three fell short of expectations. Overall, I had a decent experience here. My friends and I really enjoyed our dinner at Shabu En. Service was prompt and good, the food options available were vast and varied. The different types of beef we ordered were generally delicious. I had the signature broth, one of us tried the mala broth and had good feedback, it wasn't too spicy. It was quiet as we started at 5pm, but quickly became busy around 6.30pm. There seems to be a 2-hr seating time limit as shortly before 7pm while we were having our dessert, we were presented the cheque. You order the broth and any meats that you want to cook, and you can even switch out your broth partway through the meal if you like. They have add on dishes that you can purchase but you CANNOT take any leftovers home, even for the dishes you paid extra for. Then you go to the buffet and pick out all the ingredients that you want to cook in your hot pot. They have a selection of different veggies, noodles, mushrooms, tofu, and even some dumplings. They also have a "build your own" sauce bar. For dessert, there are orange slices and a mini build-your-own shaved ice bar. They shave the ice for you and you can add whatever toppings you want- from condensed milk to fruit syrups to popping boba to fruit jellies and crunchy cereals or crushed Oreos. read more

My family and I have been to this place three times in the past 5 weeks. My wife is a vegetarian, and my kids don't eat red meat. Most all-you-can-eat hot pot places charge the same for vegetarians and a few dollars less for the kids. This place had a lesser price for the vegetarians, and because my kids were too young to cook themselves, they had an even lesser price for a shared a pot. Each person got their own hot pot (great for those with different tastes and dietary restrictions). For the vegetarians, there was one veg soup base. For the non-red meat eaters, they had a fish base broth. For the non-seafood meats, we ordered from our waiter. They were cut super thin, and we got a few slices per order. Tip: You probably don't want to order too much in advance, as the meat will thaw out too much and it can be hard to pick up. You can always order more. For the seafoods and veggies, we got them at the bar. Everything looked fresh and tasted great. They have shaved ice for dessert. My kids always got two helpings of that. When we went there for Mother's Day, they had a chocolate fountain with a choice of strawberries, marshmallows, bananas and rice crispy treats. Our party of 4 dined at Shabu En for the first time on Mother's Day and the space was absolutely beautiful. The waitlist option on Toasttab was just perfect, we were able to check the number of parties ahead of us, walked around Diho Square and made it back to finally enjoy our experience. We ordered Tom Yum, Sukiyaki, Shiitake, and Sichuan for our soup base and they were all flavorful and delicious! Unlimited meat choices were top quality compared to other shabu establishments. The stacking trays can get a little overwhelming but servers were quick to remove them from our table. The self-service and sauce bar were kept at full capacity and clean at all time. Fish cakes, and fish balls were plentiful, but I would love to have some pork/beef balls. Seafood selection includes shrimps, crabs, clams, mussels were large and fresh. GET THE CHEESE FILLED RICE CAKE. I waited until the last minute to try this and regret not having it at the very beginning. We ended our dinner with the shaved iced and toppings. Interior of the restaurant is bright and shiny, new and modern. Plenty of seating available on weekday when I went. Friend enjoyed the included shaved ice after the meal. We were able to drink complimentary corn tea - hot and iced, which is a major plus for me. Another plus is the shaved ice station with different toppings and syrups. They have an a la carte menu if you want to add on fancy items like lobster and uni. Each person gets to choose their own broth. They keep it fairly shallow and you can switch it out as many times as you like. Personally, I've had better broth at other places but the original flavor is ok. I think they can improve on it. Everybody gets their own choice of broth and then it's a free for all in the buffet area where they serve items to put in your soup! I tried the cheese tobokki, chicken dumpling, and korean noodles. All of which were super delicious. I also added in cabbages and spinach and it made my soup a lot more refreshing. They also have meats you can order that is included in the buffet price; they were really fresh and delicious too. I liked the pork belly and beef ribeye the most. They have a sauce bar and dessert bar as well. I loved the spicy ponzu sauce and it complimented my soup really well! The price is great for the quality of all of the foods here. 2.5 stars for the food but I'll round it up to a 3 because our server (Fiona) was so kind to us. I was in all of the decor, it was by far the most glamorous layout I've seen. The attention to detail was just spot on, well done. So we got here around 11:10 and the restaurant was half full, luckily we were able to get a table fast & our server attended to us right away and took our broth/meat orders. After that we were off to the buffet station to grab our meats/veggies/noodles/sauces. I will say that their selection is a little less than Shabu zone but manageable. For the broth I decided to get their Tonkotsu & I ordered 3 of their meats which are the Akaushi wagyu beef brisket, Angus beef belly & angus beef sirloin. The broth was very bland & tasted like base soup. I'm glad they have a sauce station so I can spice it up a bit. Both the beef brisket & beef belly were chewy & not tender. The angus beef had a beautiful color and was the most tendered out of the 3 meats I've tried. The good thing about this spot is that I was able to change out the broth flavor. So I decided to get the Shabu en signature & I thought it was terrible. Weird after taste and nothing in that broth screams essence of deliciousness. I felt bad for wasting it but our server was so kind and switched it out once again. She said I rather you enjoy something than settle for just edible. The 3rd broth I ordered was the Soondubu, per recommendation from Fiona. It was savory, had a good amount of spice & was the better one of the 3. What I like about Shabu en is that they make most of their noodles from scratch. I can tell because you can still see white flour on them. I recommend getting the egg noodles. The Konyaku noodles had a perfect Al dente. My least favorite items at the buffet line were the crabs & swai fish. Crab was very low quality & swai is my least favorite cuts of fish. But hey at least they were honest and not saying it's catfish. At the end I decided to get some dessert, there's a station where they serve shaved ice & a self serve for toppings. Sadly, the dessert was my favorite part of the meal. You can't go wrong with shaved ice & condensed milk with strawberry & mango jelly. Overall, great service, beautiful decor but subpar food. I will give them another chance and go for dinner since they have more selections of meats. I also want to try the items from the a la carte. read more

It's usually easy for AYCE shabu places to become a mess since people are constantly going back and forth getting food but this place was on point with keeping everything super neat and all the food was very fresh. The meat quality was excellent and I really enjoyed the beef belly. Great choice of veggies and seafood as well. The service was excellent and I like that they let you swap your broth whenever you want at no charge. Children 3 and under eat free and 4-12 can share a bowl for $12! There's a great sauce bar but not a bunch of pre-made sauces so it may take a while to figure out what mixture of things you will like in combination with your broth. If you get a savory broth I'd recommend the soy garlic sauce they have with a bit of thai chili peppers! There is also great shaved ice with a handful of toppings that we really enjoyed as well.
