Came to dinner to try this place for the first town. It was a little hidden and hard to get to. It is a bit of a distance from I-10 freeway. The server was not able to explain the broths well, which left us confused. We decided on the Sukiyaki and Beef broths. Both were clear broths. Sukiyaki was ok. Beef broth was bland. It was hard to flag down a waiter for refills of water and meats since they seemed to be short staffed on a Friday dinner, which was surprising. The meat slices were thin and yummy. The variety of sauces were great. They had an array of the typical buffet selections of noodles, seafood and vegetables. I also liked their multiple flavors of ice cream available. The restaurant itself was average looking. It did not look nicely decorated or clean looking. I likely will not return because the dinner price is too high for me. Didn't expect much but I was pleasantly surprised. The place is big, clean, and staffs were friendly. What surprised me the most was how much options they had sauce and vegetable. They have pre-made house sauces for you in case you don't want to make your own sauce. There were some things that even Shabu Zone doesn't have, like a wide variety of mushrooms, lotus roots, kombu seaweed, and zucchini. The vegetables were a mix of what Happy Lamb and Shabu Zone so it was kind of best of both worlds for me. Lastly and most importantly, the meats were all fresh and delicious. I think they can improve on making the base broth more flavorful, but I'm so happy we finally have a shabu place in Katy. I really hope more people give it a try. read more

This place seems to be the 2nd location of Shabu Zone on Bellaire/Chinatown. We found this place while searching for a hot pot place in Katy area. The outside doesn't look that appealing but we were very impressed after walking inside. The place is very spacious & I love how they arrange the tables to be far away from each other so you can comfortably eat within a safe social distancing. There's also a separate room for large parties so you can have your privacy. The meats, seafood, and vegetables come with a wide variety of options for you to choose and they do a very decent job to keep everything fresh. The staff was very friendly & attentive to us all the time. Also don't forget to ask for your complimentary ice cream after your meal. I love their coffee ice cream. ^_^ As they're large with a lot of tables, there was no line even during the busy dinner time. I prefer this place so much better than the Bellaire location. Went here to try a different AYCE hotpot besides Shabu zone. We came in Monday morning for lunch. The waiters were very nice! My girlfriend and i got the spicy original broth and spicy beef bone broth. We looked around and we saw so much topping and were amazed at what we were looking at. They have a cooked section at the end near the dessert bar, there were fried rice, spicy tteokbokki, noodles, and potstickers but all of them were cold and bland. Both broths were very bland I had to add some more seasonings from the sauce bar. Their sauce bar was lacking as well. We saw some a fly in the fried rice, a red plastic wrap on the fish ball, and there were hair in the ice cream. I hate to say that this place was a huge disappointment. I absolutely love hot pot and have been to several places but this one is the worst hot pot ever experience, mostly due to their cleanliness. As I was eating, a roach literally fell from the ceiling on to my table.. it missed the food but doesn't take away from how it ruins your appetite to see that. There was also a dead fly by the self serve food, almost as if someone killed it and left it there. I went back to the self-serve several times and it was still there. It's clear that the staff doesn't go around, inspecting their food and cleaning the self-serve area. The food, itself, was not the greatest either. They did not have much variety. We went to Shabu Town thinking it would be similar to Shabu Zone in bellaire, however it was far inferior. The broth we got was the bone broth and it tasted like pepper water. The concept is very similar to Shabu Zone on Bellaire but I would say this location is way better in my opinion. Prices per person is decent. Not too shabby. $16.99 for lunch on Mon-Fri. For AYCE, I'll take it. The place upon entrance was very spacious! Modern and bright, very well lit inside. It's extremely cleaned, even the restrooms! Hand sanitizers were provided at each table so that was a plus. Gloves & napkins provided at the buffet lines. Very efficient and clean. Food was abundance. Plentiful of varieties, ranging from fresh seafood, vegetables, and noodles. Meats are to be ordered with your server and it comes out relatively quick. I chose the original house broth since it was my first time, think it's a little bit on the bland side but now I know. Spicy is the way to go. Their sauce stations is awesome. So much different combinations to chose from. But my favorite was the mushrooms. So many varieties! All of my favorite shrooms! Definitely went for 2 plates of those. I loved how big the shrimp were, very meaty and fresh tasting. Overall, it's a great find. I enjoyed it a lot. Would totally come back. I can eat hot pot or shabu any given day! Even if it's 100 degrees outside! Haha worth it. Service was amazing. The 3 waitresses that took care of me were super attentive and friendly. First time to try Shabu Shabu and it was fantastic! Our server did a great job of explaining the process. We ordered the Beef Bone Broth and the new Thai one. Ordered them both spicy but the Thai one was the favorite. Perfect flavor with plenty of spice. We ordered the different beefs they offer at lunch, as well as pork belly, pork shank and leg of lamb. I definitely preferred the beefs over the others but all were tasty. I read on another review to add your veggies, garlic, onion, greens, etc first to develop some deeper flavors in the broth. There were so many veggies, noodles, seafood options to pick from on the buffet line. It is a bit overwhelming! But I was most excited about the variety of mushrooms! Don't think I've ever eaten so many at one sitting! And they have an entire bar dedicated to just sauces! Faves were #1 & #3, both have a touch a peanut. I love Ramen eggs and they have raw eggs that you can crack right into your pot and cook to your liking! Sooo good! The place was very clean. Gloves and sanitizer everywhere. Staff was hustling the entire time! You cannot beat the lunch price of $16.99! And they offer ice cream to top off your meal! Fabulous experience! Pretty similar to Shabu Zone located in the HK4 Bellaire plaza. Quality wise I would say this place is slightly cleaner and fresher but not that indistinguishable all of the meats were tender and fresh. No gaminess or pungency to the seafood bar. Sadly they were out of the beef gravy broth but the standard house broth was good too. They had a sauce bar as well. Main difference is the ice cream is ordered and not self serve. All in all good place to try if you live far from bellaire. Price points are pretty similar as well. I do favor bellaire tonkotsu broth more though. But I have yet to try Shabu towns bone broth read more

Food they offer is great and a variety of different soups makes each experience different. All you can eat in two hours and was checked on a good amount of times that didn't seem too bothersome. Was always helped and questions answered in a polite manner. The place is filled with kpop music with projectors and the area where they keep the buffet food is clean and presented so nicely. I love Shabu town. I have eaten here several times before and it is always delicious. The vegetable and noodle bars are good. They have a decent selection. Not too many things but all of the staples you would want. The sauce bar has some great premade options so if you don't know what exactly you'd want. Just try out on of the sauces they've already made. The meat options are good. For lunch you can only choice from like 5 different meat cuts but they're good. And for $20 it's not bad at all. The first round of meat was much thicker sliced than the other orders we got. But all of the meat was fresh and you can order as much as you want. I stumbled upon here because I was on a shabu phase for the longest and even though my husband doesn't like shabu shabu (all you can eat hot pot), he came here with me and he really enjoyed it. I'd hate to do this but Shabu Town today was a 2/5 tonight. During my first order of meat, I happened to find some hair on my plate and I've alerted the staff there to tell them. She looked and said "oh I'm sorry" and that was it. There was really no way in trying to compensate for that.. I did finish eating there still but I will not be coming back.. *Now they automatically add a 15% tip and 18% for 6+ parties... I understand it for bigger parties, but for small tables....really? It's almost like Shabu Zone in Bellaire and they also have some side foods like tteokbokki (my favorite!) and japchae too! Came here for dinner Sunday night, and was excited to check them out. Looking over menu photos and food pics on Yelp - it looked pretty decent to try for AYCE. Parking is plentiful here since they are located in a strip. Right when you come in, you're hit with a smell that's quite fishy..... I think this is maybe the seafood they have out? But I've been to other places with similar set up and the smell here definitely stands out. We were seated and ordered our individual broths. My sister and I got the Thai Spicy broth and my boyfriend got the original broth - spicy. Thai Spicy broth was decent & had good flavor to it, just not as spicy as I was hoping it would be. We did try to ask for it extra spicy, but was told we can add items from the sauce bar to make it more spicy. I personally didn't not do that, because I did not want to end up with something I didn't like at all. I tried the original spicy broth and it kind of reminded me of shin ramen noodle broth. Just a hint of spiciness there - good for folks who don't like too much heat. The sauce bar had a lot of sauces - with premade sauces and individual ingredients to make your own sauce. Food bar had a decent selection of items to include frozen oysters, mussels, clams, noodles/udon, oyster mushrooms, veggies, etc. You order the meat directly with the servers and they were pretty consistent about asking if we wanted more - which I like. Meat quality was decent as well, it's not frozen meat as far as I could tell and it's a decent amount of meat per serving. I think overall, it's an okay spot for AYCE hot pot. I personally don't see myself returning again because although decent, the broths could have been better and I just really wasn't a fan. If you're reading this, they are worth giving a shot if you're curious. I think it's really up to personal preference to determine if this spot is for you or not. read more
