This is probably the only all you can eat shabu in the vicinity and it has decent prices. When I visited it was ~$28 per person and I think kids under 40in tall eat for free (I'm sure this is subject to change though). Anyways I went on a weeknight but I didn't want to wait so I went super early ~5:45PM just incase. There were still a lot of tables open so thankfully we didn't have to wait and once we sat down, our waiter got our order and everything came out really quick! You can order up to 4 plates of meats at once (I do think they portion it depending on how big your party is though). So for example because we were only 2 people, we only got 3-4 slices of meat on each plate vs if we came with more people, I think we'd get more on each plate. As for the other items, it was self serve in a bar at the middle of the restaurant. The service was super fast, my fiance was still getting veggies when all our meat came out so that was pretty nice. Our server also came around to check on us a lot and made sure we got our orders of meat in so that was definitely a plus! Came here for my daughters bday. They don't take reservations but since it was a weekday at 6pm, we were seated fairly quickly. Only thing is that your entire party must be present to be seated. Other than that, love that each guest guests their own individual hot pot. You order appetizers, meat selection and drinks with your server. Then there's a section where you can get veggies and a seafood selection (fish, muscles, clams, fish balls, lobster balls etcs) along with different noodle choices. The wait was pretty long here during the weekend as we put our name down a little before 6pm but did not get seated until close to 8pm. Unfortunately, they do not take reservations even for large parties, however you can request to split the table so your party can sit sooner. This AYCE place limits the # of appetizers and meats that can be ordered each round, but since we had a large party ~9 adults + kids and occupied two tables, our server allowed us to order double the usual amount. Normal Limit is 2 appetizers and 4 meats. Since there were 4 appetizers and about 8 meats on the menu we ended up ordering everything on the first round. This was a good way to start our meal since we were all starving! All the brain power came as we ate our first order away and deduced which appetizers/meats were good to order again. There was one meat that was very tough and we couldn't figure out which one it was (the servers don't go over the meats when they serve them on your table. I was able to sample this with some friends, let me give you a breakdown of everything we sampled and how everything faired Um yeah it is all you can eat, slices are 4-6 slices to a plate, you can only order every 10min, you have a 90min limit and go!!!!!! lol these metal plates holding the meats are small, you get 4-6 slices per plate so 5 people 5 plates 30 slices of meat every 10min, hmmmm each of us can finish each plate in less then a minute lol they gonna have to step up there game from every 10min to every 2-5 min lol The staff started noticing that we were going to the prepepped sides with the veggies, rice, seafood, and condiments so started offering us 2 plates each every 10 min still not enough food lol. Food wise the taste and flavor is there whether you want your meat semi cooked or all the way cooked again all of it was good. portion was small is the only issue lol, the sides there is almost everything seafood in those trays lol but the star is the meat. After our 60min mark we were still hungry lol, consuming alcohol helps mute your hunger. By this time we only opted for the beef option the pork and chicken was out the window, wheres the beef, keep it coming. I sampled the Sukiyaki broth for cooking, as well as the spicy miso, the miso was not spicy at all, of the appetizers we tried all of them gyoza, chicken karaage, soy glazed chicken, and volcano karaage , meh mere fillers. for the cooking meats we stuck with these by the end prime blade meat, beef toro, premium rib eye, everything else sadly you have to cook all the way thru before consuming so we stuck with just the 3 after sampling everything since it took less time and tasted better in our opinion. My family comes here for a little treat yourself dinner every now and then! It is quite busy, even for opening. Sometimes we arrive 15 minutes early and stand in line to wait for opening, but to be fair it's usually the weekend or holidays when we go. ORDERING: I love their self serve bar for noodles, vegetables, seafood, sauces, etc. You can order 4 meats at a time at the tables, and their meat quality is pretty good. FOOD: The meat is always thawed enough to pick them up separately and cooks easily in the boiling soup. We typically get the prime blade meat, beef toro, and pork belly on repeat. You can also get 2 of the appetizers at once, the karaage is nice and crunchy but sometimes hard. I also like the soup flavors, I usually get the tonkotsu, original house, or sukiyaki. My son and I came here for lunch and really enjoyed it. The service was good and the meat fresh and high quality. You choose one of five broths, and up to four of five meats at a time. If you want to change out the broth they charge an extra dollar for the fresh pot. The veggies and limited seafood are at a self service bar, along with a variety of noodles. After 5-6 rounds of meat I realized the prime blade is my favorite. I added jalapeño and green onion to my Tonkotsu broth and found it delicious. The only room for improvement would be more seafood options. They have clams, mussels, and whole shrimp. The mussels were very good and large, but I passed on the whole shrimp because I have an aversion to eating anything with a face or butthole still attached. Beef Toro was by far the best and tender meats we chose and was very tasty in the broths. Very fatty though so of course its the best! 2. Flat iron was also very good, but less fatty so it will over cook quickly. 3. Rib Eye was just ok. Was chewy after cooking compared to others. Boths: 1. Sukiyaki broth was very sweet which was quite diffident from what I've had, but was still good with the additional veggies/ meats to hide the sweetness. 2. The Tonkotsu broth was my favorite. A rich garlic and spiced broth that goes great with any meats/ toppings. Salad bar/ toppings: A large selection of additional items such as eggs, shrimp, clams, octopus, fish cakes, and much more. When this place first opened up, it was my favorite shabu place. Like I was addicted to them and would be willing to wait that 1 hour wait. However, they have sadly gone downhill. I recently went here with my husband and I felt like I constantly needed to flag down the servers for additional meats. The meat quality is fresh and I do love that it's AYCE with fiat quality, but it's so hard to get your orders in. I also found the broth to be so salty and it was so much so that we were thirty the next day! Their veggie/cold bar has a fair variety of veggies, a few frozen seafood items, and good carb selection (noodles, udon, rice cakes). Their sauces are good too, but the day we went they ran out of green onions and cilantro. So if you want to wait 1+hours for average, salty shabu, come here. We've been satisfied customers at this location for a couple of years now and have enjoyed dining here pre-pandemic. I even brought my friends here to celebrate an occasion or two. However, during the pandemic, we wondered how a "buffet style" and "all you can eat" establishment could operate under the new guidelines and if they can remain open. Months would go by until we were able to answer some questions. We ate lunch here on a hot and sweltering weekend cause Wifey was missing their hot pot (and so was I) and she checked prior to coming here to make sure they were open. Diners have the option of dining inside, but since we had Jaime with us, we sat outside. We were given a table near the entrance door so we could feel a cool breeze of the AC that was blowing inside. Service is always prompt and friendly so we placed our first order of four kinds of meat to get us started. They have U.S. Wagyu Sirloin Tip, U.S. Prime Rib Beef Toro, U.S. Wagyu Blade Meat, Natural Pork Belly, Short Rib Special Cut, U.S. Wagyu Cross Rib, Natural Chicken Thigh and Natural Pork Shoulder to choose from. (NOTE: You can only order 4 types of meat at a time) We also choose the Tonkotsu Broth as our base. We have tried all their broths (Original, Miso, Spicy Miso, Tonkotsu and Sukiyaki) and we happen to like this broth the most. For starters, they have Gyoza and Chicken Karaage, which you can order or skip depending on how you want to eat here. We've had both and although they are decent, these are not the stars at this place...IMO. Then when we got inside to check the "Salad Bar" to select our extras for the hot pot, this is were the changes to combat this COVID pandemic was visible. There are signs to explain how to safely select your options, along with disposable plastic gloves that everyone must use and additional barriers for the food. The selections are still the same and the quality is impressive. This is what we like about Shabuya is the variety of quality ingredients from vegetables, mushrooms, seafood (shellfish, fish, shrimp and crabs), eggs (chicken and quail), noodles and so much more. Pro tip: Get the crabs and shrimp to add flavors to your broths. (Crabs are only available for the dinner menu) And don't go overboard on getting too many extras. Make sure to leave room for the cuts of meat to get your fill. But if you love the "salad bar" option more than the meat, I ain't gonna fault you for it if this is your preference. Their "Lunch Special" price is $18.99 per person and the "Regular Menu" is $27.99 per person, which is a bargain for the quality of food they are offering. However, I have noticed though that the first cuts of meats that you order are usually better and higher quality compared to subsequent meat orders. Just an observation, but I am not complaining as the quality is still good. I also tend to overeat every time I come here so what does that tell ya? Having the experience of dining here again was both therapeutic and nostalgic because of this COVID thing that won't seem to go away. How dining out again could positively affect your mental health is such an understatement. We came here prior to the Delta variant infection rate going up so I don't know if there are current changes to the dining option. But I also do owe them this overdue review for the simple fact that this was one of our go-to places when it came to Hot Pot and AYCE options. We found this place because we were hungry and saw Texas de Brazil, which was closed. So we walked the shopping center and found Shabuya. Let me say this was an experience. We love shabu and missed the one down the street from us that was also all you can eat. This one upped the ante, by having a buffet bar where you could get your own veggies, sauces, extras, and seafood. The meats were still provided from out back and sliced to perfection. The seafood really wasn't that good and the music was so loud that it was hard to hear or have a conversation. The location if this restaurant is located in a shopping center which is a really cute area. The don't take reservations but our wait was only 20 minutes for a party of two The service was ok. Our waiter wasn't very friendly and he didn't check on us once. We had to always get his attention. If you don't know how to use chopsticks be prepared to use plastic forks that melt down if used too long. So I recommend asking for more than one fork. Since the restaurant is in a super busy shopping center the parking sucks. On a Friday evening be prepared to drive around looking for a parking spot. I would give zero stars for the service I got today. Maybe the owner needs to hire another new set of gals in the front because they are lack of customer service. One of them lie to me straight to my face when I was supposed to be the first one on the list and she said they were cleaning up the table for us. Next thing I saw was she seated a party of 1,6,3,2 and we were a party of 3. She kept on saying "the table was not ready because the people were taking their time to eat." Well then why you seated all those people in front of us? I asked her where we were on the waiting list and she didn't let me see her tablet. Obviously she intentionally not giving us the table, maybe she was annoying when I asked her when we were on the list or she simply had a bad day. Here is the story.... I was there quite early before they started the waiting list. I talked to 2 gals at different time because my friends were on the way so they could not seated me first which completely understand. They both told me there was no waiting list. There were open tables. Right before my friends got there the restaurant was getting full and they started the waitlist. The gal completely ignored me standing there and not even informed me they are going to start waitlist at all. They took down everyone's name and I asked one of the gals politely that I was standing here for 25 mins waiting for my friends to arrive. I should be the first one on the waitlist. She told me she would arrange the next table for us. The rest of the story you know...."we are cleaning the table..", then we saw other parties walking up to the front front and said they got a text message to return back to the restaurant for the table? I was there witness she seated multiple parties and our table was still not ready? Then the manager overheard the conversation and came over to assist. I really appreciated the manager professionalism and treated the customer right. He took us to the next table. We saw there were couple empty tables when we walked in to be seated. Updating this: Went back to Shabuya just to see if anything changed since I last went and lo and behold, there were changes. I don't know if they're doing outdoor seating anymore but indoor is now open. On top of it, the indoor food bar is now open. Heads up, you do need to sanitize your hands when approaching the bar and on top of that, gloves are needed (both are supplied on a cart). So props to Shabuya for being COVID proactive. The gloves are really hard to put on once you have hand sanitizer on. So I just made sure to do everything in one trip. The lunch price is still $18.99 but it looks like they got rid of the ribeye to input sirloin tip. Which I prefer the ribeye but not a huge thing since I like the beef toro too. The food bar is still the same except they got rid of gochujang at the sauce bar, no more baby corn or baby octopus. But I suppose it's because of inventory pricing, etc. The broths however are still as good as I remember them to be and on top of that, so glad I can get as much fish as I want again. Not sure why this place gets so many good reviews. Tried it like 5 times to get the hype but could not. I ended up stuck on the toilet 3 of those times. They're almost always busy and there's a long wait. The ambience is dark and feels humid. I do like their sauce bar selection and the fact that you can grab the vegetables and other sides yourself. I don't think the meat quality is great but what can you expect from an AYCE. I honestly don't know where to start with how awful my experience was here. The customer service was unbelievably bad. The staff acted like it was a huge inconvenience that we were even there. I was greeted with a very annoyed attitude and rude energy from the woman in the front who was blonde with face piercings, and it only got worse from there ,they acted visibly annoyed and was whispering to each other rolling eyes and looking at the group I attended with once we sat down. It was like we were interrupting their day by sitting there. I understand everyone has bad days, but this felt like it was just their attitude in general. We ended up just leaving due to how uncomfortable we felt from the stares and whispers.It's beyond frustrating to go somewhere to spend time with close friends and get treated like you're a burden.
