We can be in a line and people will just walk forward and say our table is ready and servers will assist them, even though there is a line of people who got the text that their table is ready. What a fail. Then I will be literally 1st at the check in table and again another person comes in to the front and the Hostess takes them first. What in the actual heck? However, with that said, the service food wise was fine and food still good. Just work on line management and I think we're good. I didn't realize that this restaurant was open over 2 yrs at the ala moana center by longs and close to jamba juice. My brother went twice already and he told us we go and celebrate valentines day. We got there before 10:30 am and put our name on their wait list. They open a little after 10:30 but that's to be expected on all restaurants to me. Once we enter my brother told the hostess if we could sit close by the buffet line since my sister couldn't walk that far so we did. The server ask us if we wanted drinks besides water and ask if we wanted appetizers and the meats. All comes with the buffet. Then it's the seafood, vegetables, all kinds of ramen, udon, pho, sauces. Each order comes with just three pieces per plate, but you can mix and match eight meats at a time. For starters, we had the chicken karaage, which included four tasty pieces. Lunch time today, We waited 10 mins because we prefer booth. They texted then told us to go wait back outside because they didn't tell the 3rd form that we requested for a booth. They have 4 sides like spicy chicken which was very good. Plus free rice. They have clams, mussels, white fish and shrimp. That's where the seafood ends. They have the seafood balls but I've never seen them tiny like this in my life! They are the size of a quarter in a ball. LOL They do have plenty of veggies including spinach and bean sprout. All kinds of noodles. No eggs. Sauces are even limited. Like 3 kinds ponzu, goma and hoisin. What I've seen at other places is where you make your own sauce like dark or light soy sauce, olive oil, sugar, oyster sauce, sesame oil, chili etc. They couldn't keep up with the plates and sauce bowl. It was a mess. The book is empty. They just gave up on that one. They just left a few plates on the counter. The sauce bowls were left at the kitchen front counters and that's where we were having them. Our waiter was nice. I asked for receipt and he never came back. I had to go find him by them sauce bowls talking to another waitress to let him know we would like to leave if I can get my receipt. Will we come back? No, we're from Chicago. We went there for lunch about 2:30 afternoon last Friday October 24 2025, the price was $22.99 a person, and we were three people. The hostess was so nice and had a good smile, and I told her I wanted to sit by window side, she put my request on waiting list. Not too long we had a table by window side, but we were waiting for someone to order the broths for a long time, so I went to get some vegetables and seafood first, and asked my friends to help me order the broth. Later my friends asked a young guy ( he looks like an Asian guy, we were not sure he was a Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese or Japanese) to order the broths and some appetizers, he had a bad attitude and impatience to my friends. Later my friend came to get some vegetables with me and told me about our waiter was not good and so bad service in Chinese ( I was not sure some servers heard our conversation in Chinese and understood Chinese) , the young guy did the service getting better. We ordered many times of the meat and appetizers, he helped us ordered them quickly, and refilled the water a few times. The meat was okay, just a little amount on the plate, so we ordered it many times , but the seafood wasn't good, not fresh, and the shrimp meat tastes not good. At the end we chose 18% of tips on the Credit Card Reader, but it didn't show up for the tips, and the waiter gave me back the recipe and told us the tips were not included, then we paid $12 cash for him. No technical difficulties or confusion with the mini burners. The drinks are on point! Plenty of options to build your preferred flavor profile. I just truly enjoyed myself here. The sauce and sides bar was very well kept. There was someone stationed there the entire night to ensure all stations were clean, utensils where used properly, and to answer any questions on what something was. The person that brought our meat also didn't explain which one is which until we asked. How it works here is that they'll take your orders for broth, appetizer, and meat only. There is a bar in the middle where you could get seafood, vegetables, sauce, and noodles. Tip: It's AYCE so don't fill your stomach with appetizers. Save room for seafood and meat. * Original Broth 4/5 - Savory vegetable broth. Tasted like a healthy seaweed tofu broth. Nothing special. If you end up getting a broth you don't like, you can always ask for a refill of a different broth. * Spicy Miso 5/5 - Sweet savory umami miso broth that was mildly spicy. Not too bad even if you can't handle a lot of heat. They also had a non-spicy miso version. * Wagyu 5/5 - Tender with an underlying sweetness. Get this and don't bother with any other types of beef! The cut did vary, though. The first wagyu tray we got was amazing. It drowns out the singing their friends and family are doing for the birthday person. The broths were ok. I got the original. I liked some of the dipping sauces. Meats, you can only order when the server comes around. They are very thinly sliced. Don't throw it into your broth and leave it. Dip it a few times in the rolling boil, and it will be done. If you leave it, it will overcook and be tough. Maybe if you have an attentive server you can get more of the meats to get more value. That was not the case for us. Their selections in the food bar are okay at best-it is challenging to eat your value worth. About 80% of the items in the bar are fillers- cheap things to fill you up so you don't eat much of the costly things. The clams were sandy. If you like crunching on sand, these clams are perfect for you. Baby octopus and shrimp were mostly ok. One of my shrimp didn't taste right. The texture of the meat was as though it had been decomposing. The fish was good. It was the best item in the seafood section. The choi sum was old, and the stem part was quite fibrous. The crab was waterlogged due to sitting in several inches of water for idk how long. It didn't have much crab flavor when it was cooked. I am doubtful that I will ever come back, especially not for dinner again. Btwn the ridiculous wait time 2+hrs and the limited selection of non-filler foods for your AYCE dinner, it falls short in several areas. Maybe lunch would be a better value.
