All you can eat (AYCE) in Hawaii is a thing. Buffets and AYCE restaurants are popular because in Hawaii we dont eat until we are full...we eat until we are tired! Also, sharing a meal with the people you care about is time well spent! I have been fortunate to eat at Shabuya a few times, and everytime I visited, it was a positive experience. The inside ambience of the restaurant has an upbeat vibe. Lively music is playing and there are tvs playing music videos. The space is large and the high ceilings are not reminiscent of some cramped hot pot restaurants. The servers I have had were all friendly and considerate. You are waited on by multiple people, but you have one table attendant and several runners. Most were knowledgeable and courteous, even though this restaurant gets very busy. Pro Tip: If you have never been to this restaurant, I recommend trying the broths before you order. Everytime we went to this restaurant, it was with first timers. The table attendants that took our order were kind enough to bring us small samples of the broth before we ordered. This way, we were able to taste the broth before we ate...ensuring our meal was a success. The selection of ingredients at Shabuya should satisfy almost every person. If you are a vegetarian, a meat eater, or only eat noodles...you should be fine. There is a vast selection of vegetables, seafood, and noodles available on the buffet. There are dipping sauces available as well. You can choose from ponzu, sesame, and soy sauce. There is garlic available too, which really adds a lot of flavor to your pot. The meat is the best part of Shabuya. You can choose from chicken, pork, and beef. The beef selections vary quite a bit....but are all delicious. They keep bring you meat until you tell them you are done....so try it all. Shabuya frowns on leftovers, so be respectful and take only what you can eat....but do enjoy yourself. Hotpot has been my hyperfixation meal for months now, its satisfying and perfect in the colder, windier months in Hawaii. I usually go to a different hotpot restaurant but this one I finally got to try. The wait is KILLER. I'd recommend putting your name down on their waitlist through Yelp and then going to the mall and shopping or running errands for a while. The wait can be a couple of hours depending on what time of the day you go. You'll get text updates and notifications as your name moves on the list so I'd stay close just in case, like within the mall. Once seated, its a buffet for all of your side items, vegetables, noodles, tofu, seafood, etc. The sauce bar is also self service, there's spicy sauces, creamy sauces, salty and sour sauces, all complimentary to your meal. When you order your meat with the server, it comes out quick and you can start eating almost immediately! With your AYCE price, it also comes with some prepared appetizers like karaage chicken and gyoza which also comes out quickly. Their full service bar is nice and you can sit there and eat your hotpot too! Shabuya is great for certain hotpot eating instances. The price is cheaper than my other favorite hotpot restaurant, they have prime grade beef as their beef option, they also have wagyu I believe sometimes? You get appetizers included which is also nice and they are very quick. It's great for larger parties too! However, the restaurant is INCREDIBLY loud. The music is almost too loud and they do requests if its your birthday so sometimes the music just randomly changes for a minute and its a little startling. It's also strange that the music is like EDM in a hotpot restaurant? It does not exactly set a soothing mood for a meal They also have a small variety of soups to choose from as your base which is fine but at my other favorite restaurant, there's like 10 different soup options and I like my options. read more

Asked for a table for 5 adult 1 toddler with high chair, and the server gave us a standard 4 people dining table that has 5 pot heaters on it. I kindly explain it's very tight for the 6 of us to fit in this small area and it's not safe for the toddler to be squeezed into the corner. They have an empty bigger table nearby but insist we need to pay for 6 adults prices to sit there. I understand it's a business, but never had I encountered a restaurant treating me like that especially with a little one by my side. It was our first time eating at Shabuya last night (Friday), and we all enjoyed our experience enough to return! This would be perfect for a low-carb lifestyle. We each ordered a different broth (miso for the kid, spicy miso for the hubs, and tonkotsu for me). I like mine the best. By the end of our meal, our broths had become really flavorful from everything we added! We applied our AYCE strategy -- load up on prime items, sparingly on filler stuff, and no starches! But the kid is a growing boy so he got udon, which he could barely finish. Between the 3 of us, we had 19 orders of beef. Tbh I couldn't tell which cuts we had as we asked 2K to bring us the leaner cuts, but thanks to a runner we learned we at least had wagyu and flat iron. At the buffet bar there are starches, veggies, seafood, and sauces. I like that they have uncommon items-- wood ear fungus, quail eggs, king oyster mushroom. While the shrimp is fresh, they weren't shelled. Of all the sauces available, my favorite is the Goma sauce, followed by yuzu ponzu and the fragrant sesame oil. Our server was 2K (Kevin K) and he was super kind and sincere and friendly and very smiley. It was busy but he did not rush us (or the other guests on either side of us) and he checked on us regularly. The runners who brought our meats and the bussers were respectful and not intrusive as well. The person who managed the playlist really liked pop hits from the early 2000s! At times it felt like we were in a club! It was also fun that they'd play short clips of different birthday-related songs. (When "Baby Shark" came on we guessed the birthday boy/girl must be a toddler.) There is a surcharge for uneaten leftovers, which you cannot bring home. There's also a surcharge (I think) to change your broth. The time limit is 90 minutes, so choose your items wisely! Our experience was marred a little by the hosts though. I joined the waitlist via Yelp before we got in the car (from Kalihi area at around 5:45pm); we needed to check in before 7:00pm. There was some traffic on the freeway, got to the restaurant at approx. 6:15pm. We were informed there were 14 parties ahead of us, and when I pressed for a ballpark timeframe, we were told between 45 min to an hour, so we went to Target for the hubs' errand. I did not expect to receive the text within 10 minutes, so imagine my horror when I checked my phone and saw they had "given our table away" and we have to rejoin the waitlist!! This was our second time here, I forgot to review the first time. We had two birthdays going on and the 10 year old had some pretty strong opinions about our other choices so we all agreed on Shabuya. The price SEEMS prohibitive but let me break it down for you. $30.99 for adults and it includes an hour and a half of all you can eat hotpot with whatever meat, broth and veggies you want, all you can eat appetizers (they bring em fresh) and all you can drink fountain drinks and tea. We had 9 people, only one of whom qualified for the child's rate of $10.99. Normally, at a regular full service place, each persons entree and drinks would run us around $35. Add on 4 appetizers at $15 and a 20% tip and I'm over $400. Our bill was $287 and that included a %15 tip for the large party. We added an extra 5%. So this actually SAVED me over a hundred bucks. Our servers name was Pineapple (that's what the name tag said) and she was ON POINT. Water stayed full, broth stayed topped off (she even replaced my son's entire pot when he tried to get too creative and ruined his.) Appetizer's were on the table within 5 minutes of ordering and they were burn your mouth hot and crispy and they kept coming. Need more meat? BAM! Chicken Karage? BAM! Did I hear an empty drink slurp? BAM. Nobody at the table is moving or talking anymore? Here's your bill, tips included, have a great night. This place runs like a well oiled machine. The staff is weaving between tables at high speed carrying hot broth so watch wear you push your chair when getting up. They keep the buffet pans full and chilled so you don't have to hoard. They don't take reservations. You can put yourself on the waitlist via YELP but you won't get confirmed or seated until the entire party is there. Fridays before 6pm is a great time to go. First timer! it was a thursday night, was put on the waitlist at around 5ish, there was a long wait and got seated at about 7:10. The ambiance of this place is lit. Loud music blasting, time to time, the music stops and you hear a guy on the microphone celebrating a birthday and the whole restaurant cheers. I like how it is ayce and you get your own pot. Veggies and seafood aren't packaged separately, it's in the middle of the restaurant buffet style. We got an assortment of veggies, meat, seafood, and ramen. It was soooo tasty. I loved dipping the meat in the goma sauce, one of my fave sauces. The only con I have is that the meat is very thinly sliced. Other places meat is a lot thicker. We ordered the entire menu and it still didn't feel like a lot of meat. Service is alright. Though we only saw our server two times. She hadn't come around to check up on us. If you want Shabu Shabu ayce - this is a great place to go as they have a nice selection of ingredients to satisfy everyone's tastes. Broths are tasty, good service, clean. We like the karaage chicken. The meat selection is a bit limited but we were happy with the choices - wagu beef and pork belly being our favorites. We would give this place a zero. We made reservations online. Get there and they wanted to seat us at the bar. That was not going to work. My hsb told them it was a party of 2 but only 1 eating. The other person is disabled and on a restricted diet. Manager Christian told us that we'd have to pay per person regardless of being disabled or handicap. Been to quite a few of the other Shabuya locations (in the Bay Area and SoCal), so why not try the one here on the Island during my last trip to Oahu. Everything is the same as the other locations, but the only thing different is the wait time. The wait is no joke, especially on a weekend. I highly recommend getting on that Yelp waitlist an hour or two before the time you intend to eat. Then once you get on that list, just go walk around the mall or something to kill time. Once you get in, you'll notice that there's like a veggie station in the middle of the restaurant, which includes stuff like noodles and other stuff like fish balls and oysters and such. The sauce station is also right there where all that stuff is. The meat you order with your server and they come pretty quickly and they are nice and thinly sliced. Everyone here gets their own pot with their own choice of soup base to their hearts content, so you ain't gotta be sharing germs and stuff. It can be loud in there with people and music so not the best spot for an intimate lunch or dinner. Service here is usually pretty decent. Servers can get stretched thin so sometimes it may take a while to get their attention. Meat and appetizers come super fast and are always fresh. All other food is self serve so you can always go up and help yourself. Love that! They can get really busy so I recommend joining the waitlist on yelp. We had dinner at Shabuya on 3/16/26 at about 7:15 . Service was good food was good. Gave it a 2 star cause when it was time to pay we asked our waiter if tip was included he said NO. There were five of us . So one friend paid for her own meal using her credit card. Another friend used her card to pay for the rest of us which would have been for 4 meals. We left the restaurant my friend who paid the 4 meals forgot to leave the tip so she went back feeling bad she forgot still not knowing tip was already charged on the bill. So now this waiter got double tip and didn't say anything when my friend showed up later to give him his tip. Don't know what Shabuya's tip policy is but I feel there employees should know. Don't know if our waiter knew about tip being automatically charged cause he did say tip was NOT included. . Employees need to be informed. Been calling restaurant when they opened today no one answers phone just keeps ringing then you get cut off. Seems like if you have an issue with restaurant you need to go down in person. read more

Had dinner here on Wednesday, 7/9/25. Party of 12. I don't care for their reservations system. Put my reservations in person. After 15 mins passed, I went to check only to be told it would be about 30 more minutes which wouldn't do. They were able to accommodate us with 3 separate tables which I had said would've been fine from the start. Our server was a gal and she was very pleasant and patient as it was the first time for my entire party. Every single server was great except one guy who we placed our order with and he never returned with it bc I found out he never put the order in (mind you this was over 5'minutesnof waiting and you only have a 90-minute period). My 4-star rating is for the food and the other servers and bus help. If the reservations system was better and that one server was better, it would have been 5-star rating. I will definitely return and recommend this restaurant but they should take reservations on line for future time frames, not just immediate seating. read more
