Check in online and it was a pretty fast ~1 hr for a table of 4 on a Sunday at dinner peak hour. They'll make it fun and loud if you have a birthday. Almost certain that the hosts moved my position on the list. It updated saying i joined 1 minute ago after waiting for hours to be seated. I checked in on the yelp app at 5pm and then in person at 7pm. I was given the estimated seat time to be 7:45pm-8:00pm. After seeing my update change to "joined 1minute ago" on yelp I confronted the host and asked what that mean and she said oh idk. I looked it up on my own and found that it happens when names are moved around. I did not end up seating until 8:45pm. read more

We came here for a friend's birthday and had a great time! The wait was over a hour long on a Friday night so sign up a head of time. There is also a 90 minute time limit so eat fast. We ran out of time at the end and couldn't serve the birthday cake we bought from home which was a bummer. The adult dinner price was $29.99, keiki prices goes my height. My 9yr old was full price, 6yr old was $9.99 and my 3yr old was free for reference. The food was delicious and I loved all the side selections. The only negative I had was one of my shrimps was rotten and completely killed my appetite after that. I still think its worth checking out at least once. Enjoy! read more

When recommending hot pot locations, I would only recommend this one based on price. $29 for an AYCE dinner in 2024 is definitely good, but it's priced so low for a reason. This is lower quality and less options than anywhere else I've seen. They didn't have even some of the basics like minced garlic, more noodle options, even sauces...and the broth was so bland. Also, they measure children's heights for the children's price which just isn't fair. Some children are way taller than average and some adults would fit in that height range. Keep it simple and stick to age. It's a big restaurant and appealing because of its price and AYCE but there's so much better out there read more

TL;DR: Place your name on the Yelp Waitlist, and THEN personally check-in with the hostess as soon as you arrive, even if you're an hour or two away from getting seated, and even if you're entire party is not present. If you do not check in in person, you will lose your spot on the waitlist and your name will disappear off the waitlist after an hour or so of following your name on the list! Thank you." SMS automated confirmation message: "Shabuya: Check your place in line https://yelp.to/w7yfJLelnub Check-in with the host upon arrival. Reply 3 to cancel. Reply STOP to end msgs" AND "Shabuya: Aloha, please check in with the hostess when you arrive. Thank you." No mention of waitlisted losing their place, yeah? I was one hangry girl when I found out TWO HOURS after following my party's place on the waitlist that we lost our reservation because we didn't check in! We thought being on the list and not replying "cancel" were enough. Thankfully, our server made up for the mishap. He was friendly and attentive to our party of ten! Also, since I was so hangry, that was the most food I ate from Shabuya or from any restaurant in awhile! I still prefer quality over quantity when it comes to shabu shabu or any hotpot. The meats still all taste the same to me lol. Also, the ambience feels like a hotpot buffet in the middle of a club, with a mix of K-Pop and American Top 40 of the last ten years haha. For $29.99 dinner special at an all you can eat? YES PLEASE! Be advised to add yourself on the join list ahead of time so you do not wait in that crazy long line! Check in as soon as you get there or you'll have to wait longer. Located at Ala Moana Shopping Mall right in front of The Alley boba shop and bottom floor by Nordstrom. The variation of meats, vegetables to seafood and noodles.... you really cannot beat that. I'd say they had very good selections. I also want to point out that service was really good as always! My family didn't bother with eating here since they tried to the 6 of us at a 4 top. We literally just walked out a few minutes ago and I couldn't wait to post this. There were 4 adults and 2 kids. One of the kids was under the height limit so she would've been free so the staff was adamant that we should be at the 4 top. When asked to speak with the manager, a member of the staff let us know that we can get a table that fits us but that next time, they wouldn't. We arrived at 4:20 so there was no space issue. They really held that "free" price over us so we left. I've been to Shabuya many times before in California and have never experienced this sort of trash service before at this location. I got on the wait list from home because it was over an hour, but they didn't allow me to check in until everyone in the group hasn't arrived yet. Vegetable section had a pretty good variety of veggies especially Eringi mushrooms. Noodle selection was good, different kinds of noodle we could choose. Great buffet style selection of seafood, veggie, and other protein ingredients. Service was good, attentive. Price was reasonable for quality and selection of food and service. There aren't dessert options if I remember correctly but it's in the Ala Moana mall so there's plenty of dessert options in walking distance. Checked in on arrival at the Ala Moana Mall. 1/2 mile walk from our hotel. Saud 30 min. Took over 1 hour 15 min! Only negative. Seated. We got a nice young male server BTS. Haha. They had TXT music playing...my teen's fav kpop band. You order meats and then hit the buffet self service bar. We got the cheaper option. Got tons of meats, seafood etc. Love this place. Sure they have this in the Bay. We need one in Sac. Vegas is my norm spot. I got a food coma. Loved it. We all got sick on the Hawaii trip midway but this made us all feel better. 100! Went for an early dinner and had to wait for about 10 mins. as this place fills up rather quickly. Price was in the low $30's but the menu is pretty extensive, I'm not one to try everything so for me personally they made out and being on the older side don't eat very much. But what I did try was very tasty, the meats were thinly sliced and they only serve you 8 plates of your choice at a time, but it's an all you can eat, so go hungry. For us sitting at a booth was better than the table setting. Wait staff is very busy refilling drinks, broths, bringing more entrees, etc. Again worth trying at least once. read more

Didn't expect to go back so soon but we did, took our out of town guest there and he absolutely loved it. We went on a slow weeknight so no wait time as soon as our entire party was there we were seated. This time we had another amazing waiter with great suggestions and quick service. The downside to this visit is they had us on a 8 top (2 tables together) and they sat a couple on the end of our 2 top tables), that was strange considering they had tons of open tables, next time I'll ask for a booth for more privacy. Enjoyed this visit and give them a 5 star, this time we were not rushed to leave in 90 min. so we absolutely could enjoy the buffet items and not rush to eat and cook our food. The meats and poultry was amazing as our last visit and when you not rushed you can enjoy the food more. Still haven't ventured to try the different soup bases but eventually I will. TIP: go on a weekday like early, we went at 5:45 and didn't have to wait, the other thing I notice is they not rushing you, by the time we left there was still open tables, this was Monday, so maybe thats a good day to go. read more

So having to be there just to check-in and wait doesn't make sense. I recommend an honest wait-list, where you add yourself online, and be there when your number is called. Okay so this not for the food but more the experience. So most people know about the 90 min rule when eating here. Fine we get it. I eat here often trust me my friend and I know it. It's busy we understand that its important to move tables along. But tonight they way it was handled left my friend and i disappointed. Finishing up our 2nd and LAST round that we ordered. The server tells us I'm sorry you have 15 minutes, so we immediately put in the last of our meats to cook (maybe 2.5 orders of meat between 2 people. Few min later she gives us our check, we start preparing our cash payment which included the tip so no need for change. We had it ready the FIRST time the server comes around. Couple minutes later the bus boy takes our pots, fine we were done anyway. Couple minutes later the MANAGER comes in and tells us we have 3 minutes. The whole night not once did we see him do that to anyone else. We weren't dillydallying!!! We were just finishing up the last few pieces. Then immediately after the server comes by with okay thank you again as in "get out" tone. Again I get it they get busy but what a way to ruin someone's dinner. We both looked at each other and was just shocked. We've dined here so many times and this is the first being treated that way..there has to be a less abrupt way of doing it. Out of all the AYCE, I think Shabuya is definitely the best for quality, price, and variety. I love all of the choices for meats, veggies, seafood, and they even have appetizers included rather than paying ala carte or a premium price. With that said, it is definitely the busiest ayce hotpot's on the island so because of that the atmosphere is very fast paced and crowded and the wait time could be for hours. Highly suggest to get to ala moana go put in your names and then go do some walking around and shopping til your table is ready. It is definitely not a last minute kind of meal. read more

It's all you can eat hotpot where the server brings you your meats and you go to the buffet for all kinds of vegetables, seafood, noodles, and bunch of other stuff. I got the miso broth and my momma got the regular kombu (?) I believe it was called. We stuck with getting the beef belly for the meats because they're fatty and we liked that a lot. We actually only had like 6 tiny plates of the meat because the other stuff were so good. I liked all the fresh vegetables a lot. My momma really liked the noodles they had (it was like white and flour-y, a bit thicker than angel hair but super white). The only thing I wish they had were quail eggs !
